Dv video not being recognized by the latest iMovie
I have one last video from an old DV sony camera (DV tapes). My computer, imovie or the finder will not recognize this camera. I am using a 4 pin to a usb cable. In the old imovie and my old computer (which is gone now) it recognized this camera. Anyone have any ideas? Maybe a 4 pin cable to some other connection might work better? I have a maacbook pro 2 gig I7 with 16 gigs of ram, running maverick and the new imovie.
Thanks,
Tricia
Tape must be imported via Firewire not USB. If your new computer doesn't have firewire ports then use a firewire to thunderbolt adapter on your firewire cable.

My apple ID and password, recognized through out the Cloud, is not being recognized in the itunes store. I am signed into itunes. When I want to change something in my account, the sign in prompt comes up and doesn't recognize my PW
Solved the problem. I had to allow cookies for safari and it run - as here: Re: itunes keeps asking for my apple id password. it's NOT entered incorrectly.

Resolved!
After contacting Apple, I received a reply from their engineers:
Copy QTMovieWin.dll from: C:\Program Files (x86)\Common Files\Apple\Apple Application Support
to: C:\Program Files (x86)\iTunes
And that did the trick.

My external HD of 1TB is not being recognized by the iMac and when after a long waiting period it does, the whole computer becomes extremely slow. Do I need any particular add-on to make it workable?
Before I updated to OS X Mavericks I was using another external disk that was getting disconnected ocasionally so I bought a new ADATA HD710 portable 1TB Drive and moved the files to it. This new drive which is supposed to be OS X Mavericks compatible takes minutes to show the files especially when opening second and third level folders which has made mu iMac unusable
What should I do?Your Mac should be able to recognize many different types of drives (including Windows-formatted drives) immediately for Reading, provided they are in good working condition and not damaged. There should be no need to transfer to a different type of drive.
If there is no recognition of this drive, see if it can be seen in Disk Utility.
If your aim is to transfer the data on it DO NOT use ERASE or PARTITION as these will completely erase all the information on the Drive.
If the drive is present while the Mac sleeps, it is likely to drop out and not be seen any longer, especially if it is a USB-powered drive. -
My iPad is not being recognized by the computer, therefore, cannot sync. It charges when plugged to the wall, but not when pugged to iMac.
Most common culprits include the cable. Try swapping it out for a different one.. or not having the most recent version of itunes. I once even solved this problem by shutting down the computer for 2 minutes. (the longer the better), with the ipad plugged in. starting it up... then itunes recognizes it, launches, and syncs.
Apple has a troubleshooting assistant on this topic:
http://www.apple.com/support/ipad/assistant/itunes/
It will advise you to reboot. I recommend shutting down instead.

P.S The ipad should charge when asleep and plugged into your Mac. The charging behavior is normal. There isn't enough power out the USB ports to charge the ipad while it is on on some older Macs and nearly all PCs. -
I started updating my iPhone 3gs but now it is locked and sim is not being recognized by the set
Sounds like you had the phone hacked to work on a network other than what the phone was originally locked to. When you updated the software on the phone it reverted back to the lock which makes your sim unusable.

Iphone 4 not being recognized with the extension cable
My Iphone 4 is not being recognized with the Apple extension cable in my new Nissan Juke so the phone has to be kept in the glovebox due to the very short cable Nissan provides. This is frustrating since the phone gets noticeably worse reception in the glovebox. Does anyone know of a fix for this so I can run a longer cable extension and run the phone out of the glovebox? Mabye a different extension cable or longer cable that works with Nissan's set up?
I don't think it is the cable. I have tried plugging the cable into the USB cable that came with the phone and the extension cable works fine with it. I guess this really is just some screwy stuff with Nissan.

My battery is not being recognized, tried the updates..
So I've tried all of the software and battery updates, still getting the black x in the battery icon. I've also tried the battery from an identical (working) Macbook in my computer, still not being recognized. The battery itself is lighting up to full power, so what I'm wondering is...is it really my battery that needs to be replaced? Or could it be a different issue?
I bought my Macbook in 2008, so people are telling me the battery is old and needs to be replaced, but what worries me is a different battery already failed, so I don't want to waste my money if the battery isn't the problem. Most common culprits include the cable. Try swapping it out for a different one.. or not having the most recent version of itunes. I once even solved this problem by shutting down the computer for 2 minutes. I am trying to import from the camera into an I-MAC. I'm told the I-mac does not have the firewire port, but has thunderbolt. Is the only way to get video from the camera via a firewire port? Is someone giving me bad information as to the firewire port not being on the I-MAC? The camera is not being recognized. Thanks in advance.
Apple has moved on from Firewire and the current iMacs (and most MBPs) have Thunderbolt, USB3 and USB2.
There are Firewire toThunderbolt adaptors. Here's one. You also want a four pin to nine pin FW cable to run from your camera to the adaptor.

I need help. I have a Window's 8 computer and a 6th generation Ipod nano. I have reinstalled Itunes multiple times and have read all the troubleshooting ideas to do it, but my ipod is still not being recognized. This is not the first time I've plugged the Ipod in. I need help
This came from another thread, but worked for me. Problem is with newest iTunes 4.62. Unistall iTunes, as well as its helper programs (Apple Application Support, Apple Mobile Device Support, and Apple Software Update). Reboot, and reinstall iTunes. It will reinstall all the other ones and you should be able to connect your nano. Good luck.

Ipod not being recognized by the emac
My 20 GB photo/color ipod was not working, so it was suggested that the ipod get a new hard drive. After installing the new hard drive the ipod will not turn on and keeps returning to disk mode. When I plug it into the computer, it is still not showing up at all on itunes or my desktop. It only gives me the screen with a check mark that says OK to disconnect. What should i do to get the ipod to successfully turn on and be recognized by the computer? Do i just need a new battery?

Hi, We have requirements to have granular control over how long reports are cached. For example, some report queries must be refreshed every 5 minutes, but others maybe once a day. Reading the section on configuring the cache timeout, it seems that t
