DV2840se heated up now it doesnt work
I have purchased " rented from HP 1.5 years $900.00" an HP Dv2840 se. The laptop normally heats up, but it got really hot and now it doesnt display anything on the screen. The Led lights come on, i can hear the DVD, hard drive and fan running but thats it.
I called HP 3 times and the only response I got was "So sorry, pay $400.00 or buy a new laptop."
My understanding is that the NVidia GPU is the fault and not a NORMAL wear and tear problem.
Anybody know if its the motherboard that is hosed or just a loose GPU from the heat.
HP wont help unless I want to rent it from them for another year for $400.00
No Im not one of those people that go around posting bad things about companies. There is a serious problem with is Laptop beyond just normal use.

what a nightmare,no phone for 3 days and no sign of any positive help from apple.done backup and restore as wifi on phone stopped working,error code 1 and now phone doesnt work at all,apple say other people having problem but havent heard of anyone else,really disappointed in way apple are keeping me hanging on,phone is only 4 mths old
My iphone is only 6 months old and I am experiencing the same problems. I have already had to have the phone swapped once with a phone that has a blown speaker. (The apple store is 2.5hours away so I havent been able to go back to replace the replacement) Since I did the ios 5 update, my phone says NO SERVICE and drops calls. It was speratic but last night, same ERROR message as you. As you know, if forces you to restore which caused me to loose valuable information and documents. insert loud profanity here _________. lol

If you change the email address associated with your Apple ID there are a number of places that have settings that need to be changed. One is in the Messages application. This article explains how to make those changes -

I got my apple tv in July and now it doesnt work? its very slow and now I cant play anything off my computer on to my tv why?
If that magnet was strong enough, it may have damaged your hard drive. You'll have to bring it in and see if you can get it repaired/replaced.

I have a Pc and been running Itunes off of it for years. Now it doesn't work. It doesn't run stating it is missing something. I have deleted the itunes and reinstalled and have run the repair as well and it doesnt work. I am not pleased. I need help!
For general advice see Troubleshooting issues with iTunes for Windows updates.
The steps in the second box are a guide to removing everything related to iTunes and then rebuilding it which is often a good starting point unless the symptoms indicate a more specific approach. Review the other boxes and the list of support documents further down the page in case one of them applies.
Your library should be unaffected by these steps but there is backup and recovery advice elsewhere in the user tip.

upgraded to IOS5, now music not working right. displayed song not playing, plays 4,5 songs and stops although it appears that it is playing. Cycled pwr,didn't work. tried resyncing, same thing.Help?
I have an iPhone 4 and ever since I upgraded to iOS5 i've got the same problem. Apple need to release a patch as there's no way of fixing this unless we downgrade our phones back to iOS4 which would just suck!
I often shut the music app down and start again but even then the artwork doesn't match the song playing and will only play a few songs. It's frustrating when you're driving or going for a run, having to pull over or stop and sort it out.
We'll have to wait for Apple to bring out a patch unfortunately. -
After upgrading to firefox 4 im now having a lot of problems using the browser.
if i try an open a link in a new tab it will just open up a blank tab, if i click on links or even type in the google search bar at the top it doesnt do anything, it just says "done" and the circle thing stops as if im on the page already, have tested it with Safari doing the same things and Safari works fine. I'd swap but all my bookmarks and passwords are in Firefox so id rather stay with that.
I tried going back to the older version of firefox (3.5 or something) but seems the bugs are here to stay now.......so.......any ideas? because its really annoying, shouldn't have "upgraded".
Is there a new patch coming out anytime soon or should i start getting used to Safari?

With iTunes 10.4 though, you can download any previous iTunes purchases you have made in the past with your current iTunes account. While in iTunes, look at the left hand side of your screen and select "Purchases" and look at the bottom right corner of the screen and select "Download Previous Purchases". If you have an iPhone, iPod and/or iPad...you can do the same thing from each device. Nice new feature...just remember that those ripped CDs need a back-up!!! Enjoy...

Pull out my soundblaster card.. now it doesnt work? (pics included)
my soundblaster card was working fine. i had to change some sata cables in my computer and to get to it, i had to pull out the soundblaster card temporary. now the card doesnt produce any sound when i plug in my 3.5 headphone jack into it.

last off topic question.. im not sure which one of these cables to plugin into my mobo.. (hd audio or ac 97). when i use the 3.5 jack thats located on the front of the computer. is it using onboard audio instead?

(44.9 KB, 5 views)OMFMs.jpg shows a problem, actually. "High Definition Audio Device" is your onboard sound - not the X-Fi. It's showing both outputs for the onboard, but only the S/PDIF output for your X-Fi. This either means that it's not detecting that anything's plugged in and automatically suppressing itself or that it's simply not working. Right-click on the Playback control panel in the centre part and check that both Disabled and Disconnected devices are showing and check for the X-Fi's speaker output to see if its existance is even being acknowledged.
If nothing is showing, try reinstalling the drivers. Just the drivers - no need to bother with the rest of the software. You shouldn't need to uninstall anything, rather just install over the top of what's already there.
Currently your sound is being directed through your onboard audio. Ideally, unless there's a specific reason for you having both enabled, you should probably disable your onboard audio through BIOS, or at least the Device Manager, if you're exclusively using the X-Fi for audio.
As for your second question, you should be using the HD Audio plug. Electrically the two are compatible but there are extra features offered by the HD Audio setup which don't exist on the AC97 standard. However if you plug this into your motherboard than you will in fact be passing your onboard sound through to the front jacks, rather than your X-Fi's audio. Check your X-Fi card along the front and top edge - there should be a 10-pin (one missing) connector which also accepts the HD Audio plug, which will in turn feed your X-Fi through to the front jacks. -
I have had this problem before but apple didnt know how to fix the problem so they replaced the phone.
I plugged my Iphone into the computer and went into Itunes and restored the phone because it wasnt working properly. it saved my data and then when it turned itself back on after the restore it was at the main menu when u get a new phone and have to set it up, so i went along and did the normal selections as i did when setting up the phone and when it got to where you choose to set up as a new iphone or restore from previous date with data i chose the restore option, it then said i had no service and the sim card was not compatable for the phone, i turned the phone off and it still says the same thing, im not sure what to do and im very annoyed with how it has happened a second time and ive only had the new phone for about three to four weeks now if that.
what do i do?I went back to iOS 7 and my backup file is restoring but when its done nothing is on my phone still and only takes 11-15 minutes to restore the backup instead of taking 25+ minutes like usual so I guess the backup is corrupted. How can I fix this?

Had 1418 error.formatted as fat.not fat32.now ipod doesnt work.why?plz help
The iTunes keeps saying that:
"The iPod "IPOD" cannot be updated. The disk could not be read or written to"
"The iPod "IPOD" cannot be updated.
And when I tried to restore it.
"The iPod "IPOD" could not be restored. An unknown error occurred (1418)"
thats a dreaded problem and i researched at many forums on how to solve it.....
before reading ur reply....there were some other replies that i read.....
which told me to format my ipod into fat partition...and not fat32 partition....then we had to update it and then restoring it would be possible........
that was the only article which i came across and which had a solution to 1418 problem......
so i began my work....
but as soon as i formatted my ipod shuffle second generation into fat partition.......
i restarted my comp...and then.the ipod is no longer working.......
if i push it to on......then there is a constant green light on it which does not go off even if i connect it to comp. using the dock provided.......
if i put it off,the green light goes off....
ideally when an ipod shuffle is connected to pc..there is an orange light that starts blinking ,that shows that the ipod is being charged.
but now when i connect mine.....
the green light blinks only once......and then nothing happens...
the device isnt working and so i cant even solve my 1418 problem ,as now i even have the solution.......
help me plz....

its been just a month my uncle gifted me this ipod ...he stays in north carolina........and i stay in india.....
i dont even know if there are service centres of apple available in mumbai.and if they are,whether they are trust worthy or the ipod that i send to them might never to me and get stolen or something.....somebody might just keep it and say that its lost.......mumbai is not trustworthy.
but if there is a recognized apple service centre then i would want to go there and get my ipod repaired....i have one-year warranty with me.......but i dont know if the warranty of a product bought in north carolina works in india......

reinstalled the itunes 7.0.2
reinstalled the drivers......
reset the ipod shuffle...
restarted my computer several times.....
checked the cable....
plugged the usb cable onto another port...
scanned the comp for viruses......
now the only thing left is that i think.....there can be a problem with the jack where the dock is plugged.....
maybe thats the reason my ipod isnt working...
even if i formatted into fat partition rather than fat32 partition,it should atleast be connected......
should atleast charge.....

my ipod is not even getting detected by the comp as any unknown device also.....forget as an ipod....

i will fix the 1418 error myself....
just get this device to work....so that comp starts detecting that i have connected something thru usb.....On top of the two suggestions already given, make sure that the drive letter being assigned to the ipod when you plug it in in windows is not also a drive letter being assigned to another drive. I've heard that this happens occasionally and can cause all kinds of conflicts, from problems you are describing to lockups when trying to sync.
I would also try it on a different computer to see if that helps. Maybe you've got a friend or a computer at work that you can install itunes on and give it a shot there. This will let you know whether it's a problem with your specific computer or if it's a problem with the ipod.
The fact that it runs in Windows and you were able to reformat the flash memory stick tells me that the Ipod is working, but that something on your computer is not.
P.S. Obviously you've had it for 90 days, So I must assume that the USB port is working correctly. Otherwise the Ipod's battery would have drained by now. So I don't believe it is a hardware issue. So move past that for right now and look to your computer's settings for the answer. -

- Try another cable. Some 5G iPods were shipped with Lightning cable that were either initially defective or failed after short use.
- iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
- Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

- If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
- Try on another computer

Updated to 10.6.8 and now firewire doesnt work
I am on an imac intel core 2, 2.4 ghz, i just updated to 10.6.8 and now i cant access my external drive (g-drive mini) with fire wire, it works with USB still but not firewire. I cant see it in the system profiler or using disk utility but it is powering up when hooked up to the firewire and still beeps when its unplugged.
I also updated my MBP to 10.6.8 and the firewire still works on that one. Any help would be appreciated to get it working.
