DV3T, Windows 7, Broadband Network Device

I finally got my Windows 7 upgrade disk. The recommended way (by HP) to do the upgrade was to, well, do the upgrade, but the installation froze. I did the "custom" option, a clean install, which I sort of wanted to do anyway because of all the crapware the computer came with when I bought it with Vista.
I was able to install every device except one, the broadband modem that works with Verizon Wireless. I downloaded the "GOBI" driver but it does not seem to do anything. How do I tell which "modem" I have? Any suggestions?

Hi,
Any update?
Have you tried safe mode mentioned in the first reply? What is the status of the driver in device manager? For "Verizon Wireless", have you installed any verizon software or related verizon device? Uninstall this kind software, then uninstll driver again
as a test.
Contact this support, maybe they can give some different ideas.

  • Slow Windows-based network devices (smb) discovery?

    Hi
I've noticed a problem with accessing windows file shares.
After a successfull boot of my mac it takes around 5-10 min for macOS to detect my windows computer on network.
This is very long time and i cannot access the shares without waiting.
I've read a lot about issues with samba and apple's samba's custom implementation however i've found no working solution for my case.
Has anyone experience similiar issues with slow windows devices network discovery?

I am experiencing the same issue... I was searching the whole afternoon but until now unable to find a solution...

  • Get Window 10 app states Win 10 install impossible - no supported network device.

The "Get Windows 10" app says that Windows 10 can't be installed on my Pavilion dv6 7014nr because I have no supported networking devices. Obviously I have generic, working networking devices. Windows Device Manager says that all of my networking devices have current drivers. The OS device manager says all of my devices have current drivers except my display adaptor--GeForce GT-650m.  I am reluctant to install the current driver because it does not come form HP and I do not want to break my laptop.  Besides, it not a networking device. A 6/24/15 forum post said the Get 10 app was reporting many HP laptops were being told they were not compatible with WIN 10 and the HP was investigating. What does this ambiguous networking device comment refer to?  Is there a next step?  Has HP any general advice for those who fail the MSoft prep app?

  • Network Device Usermode I/O Protocol and ConfigFree error

I have a Toshiba laptop and recently it has not started properly, displaying the following message: "Not found TOSHIBA Network Device Usermode I/O Protocol. Please reinstall ConfigFree. OK".
I am unable to use the laptop and it will not shut down without being forced (though once it did shut down and restarted OK, and then worked fine for three days We left it over Xmas and now it is doing it again). Can anyone let me know what this error message means and how I can deal with it (I know little about the workings of my laptop!).
We have Windows XP and are set up to a wireless broadband connection. I would be wonderfully happy if I could sort this as I have been forced to travel to work rather than work from home today because of it!!!!
    Thank you in advance!

    Hi
    The message is clear.
    > Please reinstall ConfigFree.
So why didnt you reinstall this utility???
If you didnt create the Tools & Utility CD you can download this utility from the Toshiba driver page.
Then remove the ConfigFree from the Add & remove programs, reboot the unit and install the ConfigFree again.

  • A connection to the deployment share could not be made - Networking device did not have a driver installed

I have a couple of HP 8200 desktops that I think might have bad nics. When I PXE boot them and start my LiteTouch, I get a Wizard error that says

    Hi,
According to your description, it should be Intel NIC driver problem. I have checked HP official website, there is new NIC driver released, please access to the link below to download the NIC driver for test:

  • HP Network Devices Support service will not start

Product: HP Photosmart Premium All-in-one (C309g)
    OS: Vista Business 32 bit
    Errors:
When running the "Add Device" portion of set up to add the printer to my PC so it can be accessed wirelessly this pops up in the back ground: "The specified service does not exist as an installed service."
The result of the above process is the following message in the HP installer screen: "The HP software that enables networking is not responding. Cancel the installation and restart the PC."
As you may guess, I've had this printer for a while couple/few years at least, and I've been running it wireleslly for quite some time.
The printer is active on my wireless network, printing Wireless Network Test Report from the printer proves this. I can also access the printer's webpage by entering its IP in a web browser.
We first perceived the issue when HP Solution Center reported that the Printer was no longer connected. And it suggested doing something with the install, which sent me down the road of unintalls and installs.
I've run the HP Print and Scan Doctor, which tells me the printer is installed for use via USB, but the networked instance is not installed.
I still have the orginal instal CD for this printer. Running setup off the root of the CD, i get the "Later Version already installed" or something to that extent.  I've also downloaded the most recent Basic and Full Feature Instals from HP site.
I've used Revo Uninstaller to do my uninstalls and I've run CCleaner after all the apps are gone from the program list.
I've read somewhere that this is related to the "HP Network Devices Support" service.
In computer management I can see that its not running, and it is set to start "Automatically (Delayed Start)"
When I try to start this service I get this: "Windows could not start the HP Network Devices Support service on local computer Error 2: They system could not find the file specified"
Somethings that have been done on this machine recently, i'm not sure when the Printer problem started...
    Installed Quicken 2013
    Installed iTunes
Changed my home network from Public to private on this machine so I could set up some media servers.
I've check through all the quarantined files of my antivirus and there didn't seem to be any HP files in there.
I'm  hoping my issue is in fact this service, and somehow replacing the missing file its refferencing will fix it all.
My next step is to uninstall everything again, and make sure that service drops out of the list too, then reinstall from HP download.
    This question was solved.

I would suggest using the software scrubber built into the install to clean everything out. The steps below will walk you through it.  Before doing step 10 from a CD or step 15 from a download, check the both program files folder to make sure that the HP folders get deleted.
    From original printer installation CD:
    1. Insert CD into drive, and then cancel the installer
    2. Open My Computer, and then right click on the CD drive and chose open
    3. Open folder Util
    4. Open folder CCC
    5. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.  For HP computers run the Uninstall_L3.bat
    6. When the uninstall has completed restart the computer
    7. Run Disk cleanup from Accessories\ System Tools
    8. Download and install the latest version of Adobe flash player

    4. Click the start menu.
    5. Click Run.
    6. Type %temp% in the run field
    7. Look for, and open the folder starting with 7z (Example: 7zS2356)
    8. Open folder Util
    9. Open folder CCC
    10. Run the uninstall_ L4.bat for non-HP computers.  For HP computers run the Uninstall_L3.bat

  • Setting up a Apple Airport Extreme to work on the Telecom New Zealand Broadband network?

Has anyone had any success in setting up their airport extreme to work on the Telecom New Zealand broadband network without having to connect it to the modem which NZ Telecom supply?
Any advice and tips would be welcomed!

    1. Since a "router" is needed next to the cable modem and before the ethernet switch, should we put the new Extreme in that basement location? Or, should we instead put the new Extreme somewhere on the main floor of the house (connected by ethernet) and leave the old one where it is?
Assuming the older Extreme is no older than Gen3 or Gen4 it is a perfectly adequate router for the speeds that cable will generally give you.
And therefore it is best to bridge the new AC extreme and use it upstairs via ethernet. That will then give you the best wireless in the most suitable area of the house.
    2. Should we somehow bridge the two Airport Extremes (the old one and the new one) into one wireless network?
Yes, what is called roaming network. Both units create a wireless network.
You simply setup same name and same security/password on all the devices for wireless. The wireless channels are the differentiator.. and you can either leave that on auto or take some control over it and set manually. I would be inclined to do it manually just because the AC wireless needs the 149 channel for high speed AC.. so you do not want the old Extreme in the basement using that. Force that one to channel 36 or 40. However it is likely to work itself out ok on auto.. but I recommend you check it.
The apple docos on roaming are rather ancient..
Here is a post with newer info.
Setting Up Roaming - New AirPort Extremes and Utility
    3. Should we go a further step and also bridge in one or both of the old Airport Express units, perhaps on the top floor of the house for example?
Yes, if you have a black spot with poor wireless you can add the Express to help. The old ones are single band and will probably work better at 2.4ghz but whatever suits you.. perhaps setup one on 2.4ghz and one on 5ghz.

  • Connect Apple TV to networked devices

I have a science lab with (2) Visio LCD TVs, an NEC projector, a SMART board, and a Dell computer w/ Windows 7. All of these devices are connected by HDMI cables and/or VGA cables.
Can an Apple TV be connected to these networked devices so that the Apple TV will play on all devices selected?

The ATV is connected to a source via HDMI (i.e. LCD HDTV) and can utilize airplay/home-sharing to connect to your computer and other IOS devices.

  • Failover Cluster Validation Report Error with IBM USB Remote NDIS Network device

We are setting up Microsoft Windows Server 2008 R2 Failover Cluster on IBM X3850 X5 and get errors in the Failover cluster Validation Report due to the IBM USB Remote NDIS Network Device is using APIPA adresses and both servers are using same APIPA-adresse.
How should I configure the Server and OS for the Failover cluster to be MS approved?
IBM don't recommend that i disable the Network device, but it is a possible solution!?!

What I did was use ipconfig /all to see the settings it is using and then when and set the ip setting on the NDIS driver to be that except I increment the last value by 1 for each node so that they do not have the same IP address.   I ran the
cluster validation again and it came up clean and I have not experienced any issues yet.  It does give warnings about it being an Automatic Private IP Address and should not be used, which is ok because we are not going to use it anyways.

  • Network Devices not able to connect to the Internet, but local network has no issues.

    Hello All,
I have been having this problem for the past 4 months or so(ever since I got the server).  I have a Windows Server 2012 R2 machine running a DHCP server.  I have 2 network devices installed on it.  One hardwired to the motherboard and one
connected by a PCI-E slot.  I got a second card because I thought something was going on with the primary NIC.  However I have the same issue with the 2nd NIC.  I have remedied the issue by setting the server to restart every 2 days, very inconvenient.
After restart, everything is fine for 2 days.  All drivers are fully up-to-date and Windows is up-to-date as of last months' updates.  I also updated BIOS to the latest version.  Any help will be much appreciated.
I have ruled out hardware issues, and here are my specs:
    Intel Core i7 3rd Gen @3.4GHz
    8GB DDR3 RAM
    Server 2012 R2 Standard 64-Bit
    Intel On-board Gigabit Ethernet
TrendNet Gigabit PCI-E (Realtek Chip embedded, uses Realtek drivers)
    Thanks

    Hi,
Is DHCP the only service that the server is used for?
What are you using for DNS?
When internet connectivity is lost on a client device, what does IPConfig show (a correctly assigned DHCP address or an APIPA address)?
    Is DHCP AD Integrated?
How long is the DHCP lease?

  • LMS 4.2 Network Devices configuration requirement

I have install LMS 4.2 and nat ip to discover found WS-6513 but cannot polling inventory.
I serch for document about configuration on Network Devices such as switch, router, asa etc. to support LMS.
But I cannot find it, anyone have example configuration or document about this ?

Given that you have verified the SNMP RO community string and assuming you have a Supervisor 720 as noted in the compatibility matrix, you should be able to pull inventory.
As a next step I would check what is going on when you actually try to retrieve inventory.
Go into Device Center for your switch and select Tools > Packet Capture. Create a capture using the IP address of your switch and choose application SNMP (udp161). Give it adequate time, say 10 minutes (600 seconds). then go back into Device Center and choose Tools, Update Inventory. Once the Job Browser indicates the job is done )or failed), go back into the Packet Capture Window and examine the traffic captured (the jet file can be opened in Wireshark).
A successful Inventory update consists of a series of get and get-bulk requests and associated get responses from the managed device. If it's failing, there should be some response early on in one of the frames from the capture.

  • More than 4 network Devices - how do i connect?

    Hi,
I have a new Home Hub 4 and i am currently using all the outlets from my network devices. I now need another connection in my lounge for my blue ray player, but i obviously do not have anymore network connections available?
I have an old home hub 3, could i swap the connection to the spare LAN2 at my modem and put the hub 3 on the other end and then have 4 connections available instead of the original 1?
I am a novice as this and would appreciate any help to solve my current problem - diagrams would be very useful.

    Solved!

    >Disable the wifi card on your computer/laptop as you dont want to change settings on master hub by accident.
    >Power on old hub but do not connect to phone line just plug it into the wall and connect an ethernet cable from this to your computer.
    >Navigate to 192.168.1.254 on your browser this will bring up your hub configuration page.
    > Goto Advanced - Firewall - Configuration - Disable.
    > HUB 4 AND 5 ONLY: Goto Advanced - Home network - Smart Setup - Disable.
    > Goto Advanced - Home Network - IP addresses - In the IP address box type 192.168.1.10 and then click on DHCP server disable - apply. (Do both steps then hit apply or you will loose connection and it will be difficult to get back)
    > Now plug the old Hub into the main hub via ethernet or powerline network plugs and voila you have an access point.
At this point you will have 2 seperate wireless networks broadcasting 2 names (ssid) and using 2 different wireless keys, which itself is not a problem just point your devices at the one you want to connect to and it will work, however now would be a good time to set yourself a nice custom SSID and wireless key that you can remember easily and to do this follow instructions below.
To set master Hub goto 192.168.1.254 in your browser
To set slave Hub goto 192.168.1.10 in your browser.
Instructions are the same for both.
Goto advanced - wireless - and now set SSID - Wireless key to a custom choice, if you are using the same SSID and Key for both hubs make sure you set the same security type or devices may not be able to connect to one or the other.
Below applies to secondary hubs only and your main hub will have the same status lights as normal.
On Hubs V2 and V3 you will be left with just the wireless and power lights illuminated the broadband light will be off.
Hub V4 your status light will be orange and your broadband light will flash constantly this is normal.
Hub V5 your status light will be orange and broadband light will flash constantly, however occaisionally the status light will flash as if its trying to connect, again this is normal and does not effect operation.
