DV4 1275 Power Issue, Battery not charging, Will not Power with AC only
HP Pavillion DV4-1275mx
Battery will not charge, Laptop will not fully turn on with battery in (battery not charging at all). Laptop will not power on at all with no battery using only AC and with battery it will attempt to load and die due to lack of charge.
Have tried 3 diff HP chargers.
The orginial 1 that came with the laptop is dead and will not charge anything. Tried it on a diff HP laptop and not recognizing any power
The 2nd one is OE HP laptop diff model but same wattage that came with my gfs work laptop. I have charge my laptop with it before in the past however it is not charging the battery now either
The 3rd is a aftermarket generic one that my g/f bought in the airport and it works with hers as well however I have never used it on mine.
I have tried hard resetting.. taking out battery, holding power for a min and replugging everything.
Also when I remove the battery and plug in either of the chargers that do work the power LED are "not" lighting up on the front or the LED where the AC plugs into the laptop. Which makes you think the charger is bad however the 2 working chargers do work on my other 2 HP laptops.
If i plugin one of the 2 working chargers with the battery it will go through the boot process and as its starting windows it just dies and shuts off. The power led by the DC jack does light up and the charging light on the front lights up. However this only works when I unplug the battery and plug the AC charger in. After the laptop boots up to starting windows and dies. I have to remove the battery and replace it to get the LEDS to light back up.. If the MB was bad I wouldnt think any of the LED's would come on nor would the laptop boot up to the starting windows. If keep trying to turn it on the booting time is shortened as the battery is not holding a charge and sometimes it only makes a few seconds and then just dies out.
I dont have alot of money to spend so I was hoping maybe you could point me in the right direction.
Should I buy the replacement part OE charger for my specific laptop? (not sure if its going to be much diff than the others since they are all 65 watt chargers)
Should I buy a new battery as well?
Or does this sound like a short problem in the mother board or a solder issue with the DC plugin?
If it is an issue with the motherboard I do not want to go through the hassle of buying the battery and charger as I will end up having to just replace the laptop
If you could please advise me what direction to go I would be so greatful.
Dude, I have the same exact problem with mine. It's not a cheap fix either. It definitely is the motherboard.
I'm no expert, but I believe the problem is a dead capacitor on the motherboard preventing it to build up a charge.
I spoke with an HP rep, which told me it's $398 for them to fix.
I let them know that I didn't have another $400 to put into this laptop. So, they suggested I try reseating the motherboard. And also reseating the memory modules.
http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c01597750.pdf
That is a pdf of the laptop's manual. It'll help in reseating. Page ( 59 ) for the motherboard. Page ( 67 ) for the memory modules.
This hasn't helped at all with mine, but maybe it'll help with yours!

8620 - not charging will not turn on
Hi
My son just returned from Columbia to Australia with a gift of a used BB 8620. We would like help getting it working.
- Battery does not charge
- no display when charging
- cant turn it on
I took it to a mobile phone repairer and they said it was an imitation BB. Is this true?
Thanks for your help
Solved!
Go to Solution. Before I responded to your earlier posts, I had a look for the BB 8620 and couldn't find any reference save for the Nokia link. Moreover, I got no response from this site or thee other BB forums and I would have expected to do do so. Hence why I had a look for BB models thinking maybe its an old one or was restricted to a specific geographical area.
I found nothing.

it has "BlackBerry" on the front, "Curve" on the back and inside behind the battery says
"BlackBerry Model: 8620 CE 0168 MADE BY BLACKBERRY"
there is also an IMEI number
Blackberry's aren't made by Blackberry, They are made by Research In Motion - RIM
All mobile phones have an IMEI number.
BB's also have a PIN number.

my ipod nano 5th generation stopped working not long ago
i was sitting down, just listening until a song in the middle of an album ended and none played afterwards
i went to look to see what had happened but nothing would display; it was just a black screen
i was confused so i started to hit the menu button to see if it had just went to sleep or something
i could hear the noises that the buttons make when you push them, but the screen stayed black
i went to see if it would charge (via dock/stereo charger), but nothing showed up
i then tried plugging it in (via cord) to the computer and still nothing; it would not even recognize my ipod in itunes
my itunes is completely up to date and worked with my ipod even just a few days ago, so that shouldn't be the problem
i've tried to reset, restore, and etc., but nothing seems to get it to turn on
it seems like i might not be able to fix it, but is there any way i can see my files (music) on the ipod so if i have to get a new one i remember what to put on it?
help, please ~Good Afternoon CPilkington1,

L655 has solid white power LED and soid orange battery LED and will not power on at all.
L655 has solid white power LED and soid orange battery LED and will not power on at all. I tried a second power adaper. Any other suggestions? It does not even try to power on. No fan or any other noises.
if it is not powering up on battery or AC, then there is either something wrong on the motherboard keeping it from powering up, or a bad power switch. I personally have not encountered a bad power switch on any of my Toshibas, so I would suspect something with the motherboard. It is strange that it does indicate that your plugged in and charging. If you leave the power adapter plugged in, does the battery status eventually go white?

My Apple iPad 3 is less than 6 months old - purchased in March of 2012. I believe it already needs a new battery. It will not hold a charge for very long andvs very slow in starting up a carge when I plug it in. Please advise - it is very annoying.
Take it to Apple Store. You are covered under your 1 year warranty.

the battery of my macbook pro will not charge and the LED light is only green. What to do?
This might help:
Intel-based Macs: Resetting the System Management Controller ...
Otherwise, you should probably take your computer in to a service place to be tested, since there a a few possible causes of this behavior. -
My iPod shuffle only worked for a short time. It will not charge and the power light does not come on. Bought it in 2009. Put it back in the box and in my desk. Recently tried to get it to work again but no luck. Anyone else have this problem? Very disappointed with the product although my wifes work perfectly.
Can't say I haven't done the same kind of thing...keep finding things I had every intention of...
If you have the chance stop by an Apple Retail store and talk to them about it...they often work deals for replacement of out of warranty non-working items for prices around half price. Won't hurt to stop by and see what they will do for you. -
My iphone 4s will not power on, charge, WILL NOT DO ANYTHING!!!! 3 months old, no damage!!! HELPPPPPPP!!!!
No ideas on how to fix a hardware problem besides Apple
You might try calling Apple Customer Service and asking about the possibility of shipping it to them

Try a SMC reset:

If available, try another power adapter.
If no success, bring the MBP and the power adapter to an Apple store genius bar for a free evaluation.

My charger will not work. Do I need to buy a new one?
Try this first - Reset the iPad by holding down on the Sleep and Home buttons at the same time for about 10-15 seconds until the Apple Logo appears - ignore the red slider - let go of the buttons. (This is equivalent to rebooting your computer.)
And this - Unplug the charger from the iPad and then replug. May resume charging.
Or - Recalibrate the battery. See link below.
The quickest way (and really the only way) to charge your iPad is with the included 10W or 12W (5W on Mini) USB Power Adapter. iPad will also charge, although more slowly, when attached to a computer with a high-power USB port (many recent Mac computers) or with an iPhone Power Adapter (5W). When attached to a computer via a standard USB port (2.5W, most PCs or older Mac computers) iPad will charge very slowly (but iPad indicates not charging). Make sure your computer is on while charging iPad via USB. If iPad is connected to a computer that’s turned off or is in sleep or standby mode, the iPad battery will continue to drain.
Apple recommends that once a month you let the iPad fully discharge & then recharge to 100%.
How to Calibrate Your Mac, iPhone, or iPad Battery
http://www.macblend.com/how-to-calibrate-your-mac-iphone-or-ipad-battery/
At this link http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/galaxy-tab-android-tablet,3014-11.html , tests show that the iPad 2 battery (25 watt-hours) will charge to 90% in 3 hours 1 minute. It will charge to 100% in 4 hours 2 minutes. The new iPad has a larger capacity battery (42 watt-hours), so using the 10W charger will obviously take longer. If you are using your iPad while charging, it will take even longer. It's best to turn your new iPad OFF and charge over night. i tried to sync my ipad to my itunes using usb but it will say not charging,, i can sync with my ipod touch without any problem... please help..
From http://support.apple.com/kb/HT4060 :

iPods need less power to charge them (their wall charger is half the power of the iPad's, 5W as opposed to 10W), so are more likely to charge via USB
