Before a week ago the fan gone crazy, it started making noise like a propeller. I dessembled the whole machine and cleaned it but it couldnt help. Now as the warranty period of my laptop is expired, I want to replace my fan. How can I the right fan and heatsink for my laptop model. I want to know the spesific model/part/serial number of it.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-6b50sa notebook - Fan problems

    Product:     HP Pavilion DV6-6b50sa
    Operating system:    Windows 7 64bit
    BIOS version:   F.19   05-2012
The fan on my laptop failed earlier during the year and was replaced with a new unit. However since then the fan seems not to run fast enough in response to increased loads on the cpu and GPU. For instance previously when starting a video game the fan would instantly kick up to a higher speed and remain there, cooling the laptop sufficiently. Now the fan will often take a lot longer to get up to speed, and with some games simply refuses to go beyond normal idling speeds even as the temperature increases.
Any help with this?  I'm not sure if its a hardware or software issue. When I am back home again I will be replacing the fan with another new one to see. Tried updating the BIOS, have also installed HP coolsense and cleaned out the fan to no avail.
Any help with this would be much appreciated, thanks

  • [HELP] HP Pavilion DV6-6b50sa fan - abnormal whirring and grinding noises even after replacement

    Product:     HP Pavilion DV6-6b50sa
    Operating system:    Windows 7 64bit
    BIOS version:   F.1 C  (current)   01-2013
My laptop fan started making a very loud grinding and whirring noise constantly (very loud, easily heard in other rooms from the laptop) and after cleaning out with compressed air with no improvement I decided to get the fan replaced as it was clearly worn out in some way. (This laptop fan has always been loud, but never making this sort of grinding sound).
Replacement fan was ordered directly from HP and installed. However, while the noise is much quieter, the fan is still making a constant sort of whirring/very low grinding noise which gets louder and changes pitch whenever the fan kicks up to a higher speed.  While the laptop is now at least useable, this noise is still annoying after being on for a long time and I did not expect it to still have the same problem after fully replacing the fan.
Since then I have looked online for solutions and similar problems, having since flashed the BIOS to the latest version, checked both the hard drive and memory in the BIOS (both proved fine)  and tried switching between having the fan mode set to always on or not always on in the BIOS and messing around with HP coolsense. None of these have helped remove this constant whirring sound.
Now this laptop fan has always been loud. That I am ok with, I know the sound of a loud, yet working fan drawing air, but this is not the same sound. The fan is still drawing air sufficiently and keeping the system temperature down to an acceptable level, but this constant whirring noise is annoying when having to work on the laptop.
    [In Summary]
-HP Pavilion DV6-6b50sa  Laptop fan had loud whirring/grinding noise
    -Fan was replaced
-Noise reduced and grinding somewhat gone, but whirring and some grinding remains even with the new fan from HP
Any help would be great, I have tried to include as much information regarding the problem as I can but if there is anything else needed dont hesitate to ask and I can try to provide such information as required.
    Michal.

Also, when the fan is running at higher speeds the whirring/grinding noise is quieter and less noticable than when it is running at very low speeds... When running at very very high speeds (while playing games)  the fan sounds almost the same as my old one when it was still working, and at high speeds its more a whirring humm... Then at lower speeds it goes back to a more low whirring/grinding.
Not sure if this helps but its just something I've noticed...  Any help with this problem?

  • HP pavillion DV6 laptop fan isn't running to the max

As of late my DV6 laptop's fans aren't running at max rpm as they should be during heavy loads like gaming or video processing. It'll  run normally and keep on gaining heat until it hits 80 degrees celcius by searching the web, yet the fan will still be at maybe 20-30% running capacity. When running games, it often drops my fps from 100% of its max capacity to mabye 30 to 40%. Is there a fix for this problem? I've already tried running all options of hp coolsense and I might try and get compressed air to air out the vents.

Also apparenlty according to speedfan my GPU fan speed is 0 rpm. Could that attribute to the lack of fan speed?

  • Bios Update For Window 7 Ultimate

    Hello everyone,
I have HP pavillion Dv6602 model laptop with AMD TURION processor which was taken in year 2008 with operating system windows vista. After window 7 came i replaced my window vista with window 7 ultimate. But after that the problem I am facing is that my laptop is getting overheated and its fan is making some very scary noise and after getting overheat , it gets shut down by itself with a sound and it will start after waiting for 5-10 mins after making it cool. I thought may be there would be requirement other drivers or softwares for Window 7 because even my webcam, quick launch buttons and my CD/DVD driver is not reading anything so i searched HP website but there after scanning my system for half an hour , it said no available software to update.
Then I checked my BIOS version , It is of F.30-24-04-2008 configured by Phoenix itself. Then i downloaded F.34 March-2011 configured phoenix BIOS set-up from HP website only . But now I am thinking shall I update my BIOS to F.34 or once it erased the previous flash , i will struggle to get my laptop in this position also . So please help me ?? I have the F.34 set up and also explain me how to use Phoenix Crisis recovery through USB(Pen drive) to recover the earlier BIOS in case of emergency.
For your proper reference i am attaching my Laptop info details also.
    Thanks in advance

It says how to disable the streaming but the post below may also help..
    See also this: http://www.pcmediacenter.com.au/forum/topic/19982-high-cpu-usage-system-idle-process-at-99/
When the process is taking 94-96%, it's not bad, it's actually good because it means that the system is not taking much resources. However, when the process is taking those values and the CPU is burning, something is wrong. The CPU should be cool. I use linux so I didn't bother to find more information about this issue except the streaming one which works for me..

  • Hp CoolSense

Please I used to have hp CoolSense on my windows 7 PC (hp dv6). The fan on my PC happened to stop working and I had it replaced by a PC enginner. When I got my PC back I realised the fan is now constantly on high speed making much noise. I feel the coolsense software might have a problem and decided to wait for the windows 10 upgrade to see if the new windows will resolve the issue. After the upgrade, I realised that my fan is still spinning fast and won't slow. I have tried severally to install the latest version of coolsense (HP CoolSense version 2.2) but the install seems never to complete because I never get any message as an indication that the installaton was success. Also I have tried searching for coolsense using the system search tool but still cannot find the hp cool sense icon so I could turn it on. Please I would appreciate help from anyone who can help me with this because my computer is tool noisy.

Hi there ,  I double checked and as of right now I do not see a BIOS update for your product. I did however come across a document called  HP Products - What If I Don't See My Operating System? Please read over this document.  Windows 10 drivers may be available through Windows Update - Please use Windows Update to determine what drivers might be available for your product.  Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system at the time of purchase or that need updating. The HP Support Assistant uses a compatible driver for your Notebook. The other option you have is to rollback to Windows 7 until more driver's are available in Windows 10. Under the Windows 7 column on your Notebook's Driver's Page, there is a BIOS update available. Using the Support Assistant should pull the most compatible update.  You could also use the following link to create yourself a case number and Contact Us:
Step 1. Open link: www.hp.com/contacthp/Step 2. Enter Product number or select to auto detect

  • HP DV6 FAN REPLACEMENT AND LAPTOP REASSEMBLY - KEYBOARD NOT FUNCTIONING PROPERLY

I called HP Store staff and was able to identify the correct model fan to replace the one in my DV6.  I got it and just did the replacement.  To those unitiated, its a chore, but it can be done.  Give yourself a few hours and peace and quiet.  As I discovered, the tricky part is putting everything back.  I must have gotten 2 things wrong.
One, the machine thankfully boots to the Windows Start page, and my mouse works fine, the keyboard is now a problem.  The keys don't match the screen and I am effectively locked out at the password screen.  The key for ENTER is 4.  So, what do I do?  Re install the cable from the keyboard to the motherboard?  Please advise your best suggestions.
Two, when I put in the power cord, the little light to the side of the power adaptor input does not go on.  I suspect that the power cord assembly is adversely affected from the reassembly.  Any tips?
    Thanks,
    TK

Reading around on these support page, I figured the cable from the keyboard was not properly installed.  Its a tricky item best done with a pair of tweeers, a good bit of light and very close inspection.  When everything lines up, close the ZIF hinge and voila!  The keyboard now works.  And I can boot and get past the passwords.
However, my power is not recharging my battery.  That is worrisome and a new issue (from last post above).
Please help.  Only a couple hours juice.  Thanks.

  • What is the typical cost of replacing the cooling fan the laptop is HP Pavillion DV6 6165tx.

What is the typical cost of replacing the cooling fan in a
laptop computer ? (In India in Indian Rupees)?
The laptop is HP Pavillion DV6 6165tx. The cost means
    fan cost plus labour charges.

    Hi,
You should know this better than us. Normally part is around $40 (more or less) and labour can be $50 to $200. I would charge this for $400 (minimum) or free.
    Regards.

  • HP pavilion Dv6 Fan Problem - Please help

    Hi,
I purchased HP Pavilion dv6t QE in Dec 2011. Just after the warranty expired in Dec 2012 its fan stopped working. Whenever I am starting laptop I am getting error that laptop fan is not working correctly. and its not advisable to continue. I am ready to get the fan/heat sink changed but I am not able to find the replacement part on HP website. Please let me know from where I can purchase that (link)
Please let me know the HP Fan & Heat Sink replacement number for below model:
    Serial : {Personal Information Removed}
    Product: QJ912AV
    Model - dv6t-6b00

You can find a new replacement fan on eBay. Take a look here: http://bit.ly/18Guc5W In a HP Pavilion dv6 laptop the cooling fan mounted UNDER the motherboard. You'll have to remove it in order to remove and replace the fan.  Here's how to disassemble HP pavilion dv6 laptop and remove the motherboard.

  • Which fan is best to use with hp dv6-6198sp?

The laptop is orginally a dv6-6153ea but i upgraded the motherboard and cpu to that of a dv6-6198sp,
So it now has a ati 6770 and core i7 2670qm which i need to keep cool
Temps are reaching 95 on load which i feel isn't that great!
I have two fans i have access to, a sunon and a adda, both are the same shape but neither are from this laptop,
    The sunon cooled a core i5 2410 with a 6490 gpu
The Adda fan cooleda core i3 with an unknown gpu (i cannot remember it sorry!)
So what i need to know is which fan would be suited better?
The Sunon is a .4w and the Adda is a .5W so i was under the impression the Adda would be better...
But if anyone could give me some more information on this that would be great as i am really stuck right now!
    Thanks!

    Hi:
I had researched your issue - the HP part number posted above suits your "upgraded dv6-6153ea" to motherboard of dv6-6198sp.
Both the models share same Service Manual.
Cooling fan part doesn't really change according to different Intel processors they have, but graphic system supported by the board.

  • HP pavilion dv6 fan not working

My HP PAVILIONDV6T-6100 laptop (Product no. LM720AV) is having problems with the cooling fan and overheating. I have started getting the cooling fan not functioning error at startup. When I use the laptop-the cooling fan runs almost all the time. It turns-off when I have only one application running on the laptop.
I understand that since the fan is running perfectly fine, the fan motor is still functional. Could it be dust accumulation that is causing the error and fan running continuously? Where can I get the insturctions for opening the cooling fan assembly and cleaning it? Also will I need to replace the thermal insulation after cleaning?
    Thanks
    Sunny

I paid $30,000 for my car but I trust the dealer to work on it because I know their mechanics do it every day. I could watch youtube videos and figure out how to do a tuneup but they will do it better. I will change my own air filter however since it is not too hard and will save money. Replacing a cooling fan is more like a tuneup than replacing an air filter. Still, you can do it if you follow the Manual and are careful. Here is the Manual:
