Dv6-3050us touchpad / touchbutton issues? Inconsistent behavior touching vs. pressing the buttons.

Okay, so here's the deal:
The DV6-3050US has an integrated touch device. That is to say, both the typical touch pad AND the left/right buttons are touch-sensitive. However, they do not exhibit the expected behavior...
Specifically, the right "touch button" seems slightly weird.
Both button are touch sensitive. And both are also "clickable," IE, if you press down on them, they behave approximately as expected for a usual "button."
Thw problem arises in a couple areas.
Firstly, since the buttons are touch sensitive, any motinon on them is considered to be "touchpad motion," and the cursor moves, regardless of context. So, the cursor moves when dragging your finger across the button, but it also moves when you're just trying to click the physical "push button." This is an issue needing resolution because it often means that befoer you push hard enough to register a click, your finger has moved, thus the cursor has moved, thus it is sometimes no longer over the object you were tryign to click on. It is also sometimes over a completely different object you never meant to click on.
This brings us to the second issue. The first issue might not be as much of an issue if the right "touch button" also functioned as a "touch right-click," but it seems not to (rather, it ALSO functinos as a left-click). That is to say, if you tap/touch the left mouse button (without using the "physical click" by pressing even harder) it functions as a left click. This is probably a function of the fact that the ENTIRE pad (including the buttons) works like a left mouse click (as most touch pads can be set up to do, and generally are by default). The problem is, I'd LIKE IT if the right touch button acted as a "right click" when touched / tapped, rather than as the more generic pad-wide "touch/tap left click." That way, I could just tap the pad in the section that's supposed to be the "right mouse button" and it would act like a right mouse button / contextual click.
Is there a way to set this thing up so that things function AS EXPECTED? Is it an HP issue? Is it a Windows 7 issue? Is it a driver issue?
So, yeah, I'd like it to be that things work consistently.
Currently:
Entire "touch surface" functions as mouse cursor.
Touch "left mouse button" functions as left mouse click when touching/tapping and pressing
Touch "right mouse button" functions as left mouse click when touching/tapping, but as right mouse button when pressing.
Ideally:
Entire touch surface functions as mouse cursor.
Touch "left mouse button" functions as left mouse click when touching/tapping and pressing
Touch "right mouse button" functions as right mouse click when touching/tapping and pressing.
If it's not possible to get touching/tapping in the "left/right mouse button" sections of the touch surface to be consistent with the pressing/clicking action, then is it possible to disable ONLY that portion of the touch surface assigned to the "left/right mous button" sections of the pad, but leave the upper "touch pad" sectino sensitive to touch? That way, when pressing the "physical" left right mouse buttons, the cursor won't move during the process of pressing the buttons?
Hope this all is clear enough and makes sense?
Any suggestions?
I know the driver allows for defining areas of vertical / horizontal scrolling areas of the pad. But does it allow for changing or disabling the sections assigned to the "buttons"?
Best,
~Michael

Do you have the latest touchpad software installed?
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/softwareCategory?lc=en&dlc=en&cc=us&lang=en&product=4230544&
There are some settings, they can be found in control panel (icon view) > Mouse, there should be a tab for the touchpad.

It might also be a good idea to let the iPod's battery fully drain. Then charge it back up and restore it once more in iTunes.
Otherwise, it's likely a hardware issue with the iPod's LCD display, meaning you'll need to take or send your iPod in for service either via Apple or a third party repair service. Here is Apple's repair pricing.

Note that they don't actually repair the device, but exchange it for one of the same generation, model, and capacity.  A third party service will actually replace the damaged part for a little less.  Google "iPod screen repair" and you should get a number of results to work with.

I bougnt my S5 a month ago and I am having two major issues.  The screen is very slow to respond.  When the screen is dark and I press the home button, it doesn't come on.  I have to press the button anywhere from 4-10 times and then it usually flashes on and back off.  It is very, very frustrating.  The other issue is that the battery drains very quickly.  I have called Verizon numerous times regarding these issues.  They tell me to do different things that never help.  We eventually did a factory reset and it still has the same issues.  Help!  It is a brand new phone and unfortunately I am in a new two year contract.  Ugh. Is there anyone out there who can help me?

I have done that several times.  In fact, every time I call Verizon with my phone problems, they have me do the same things repeatedly.  I keep telling them I have already done them but they insist they are SURE it will work this time.  It never does.  After doing the factory reset and it still not working correctly, they act like they are confused, almost like I am lying.  I did what you suggested above on the slim chance it would work this time but it did not.  I bought two S5's that day and the other one works perfectly fine.  I know I got a bad phone.  Verizon just does not listen.  It is a bad phone.  I just want a new phone that works properly.  Is that too much to ask?  I bought a new phone that has been bad from day one.  Why oh why do I have to spend hours of my time on the phone, in the store, on the computer, trying to rectify this?  It shouldn't be this difficult!  Help please!!!

As the title says, this is a brand new iPod touch bought from a store, I plugged it in a commenced the "setting up" process through iTunes on may iMac. It got to the stage where it said allow this computer to access the device (or something along those lines), i clicked yes, and then a message came up "to allow access, please respond on your iPod touch. however the ipod screen is black, and pressing the buttons doesn't work. How can i fix this? or do I need to return it?

i am having major issues! this does not work i dont understand..does the ipod have to be off while pressing the buttons if so how is it possible if it is connected to the computer either way it turns on..and when i tried these steps while the ipod was on it still doesnt  work it just asks me “slide to power off” please someone help me i just cant seem to put my ipod in DFU mode

To get the iPod in recovery mode and DFU mode you first have to turn the iPod off.
Just what is the problem you are tying to resolve?
Sometimes you have to let the battery fully drain if you can't turn the iPod off. After charging for at least hour try again.

  • Double touch (not press) the home button!?!?

This function is called "Reachability" (also known as 1-handed mode).
It allows a user to control the phone with one hand.

  • My ipod touch automatically presses the home button

my ipod touch automatically presses the home button causing apps to close, appswitching tray to pull up, and turning to spotlight search. i dont think my home button is broken; i can press and release it no problem. could this be a software problem?
    thanks!

I would try the standard fixes inorder:
    - Reset the iPod:
Reset iPod touch:  Press and hold the On/Off Sleep/Wake button and the Home
button at the same time for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears
    - Restore the iPod via iTunes on your computer.  First from backup and if problem persists restore to factory defaults/new iPod.

    Hi Ralph9430,
I've tried this numerous times and have the same issue. I've even restored the phone to factory settings and removed everything and problem persists.

  • I just bought a new iPod touch 5g and the buttons are all loose and it charges to 100% in like 45 mins.

All the buttons work and stuff; however the volume and sleep/wake buttons don't click or feel tight enough to be new. The home button works fine though, but is loose. I have compared it to my friends and all theirs are tight and work fine. I bought my ipod at best buy. Im not sure they will replace it seeing as how I didn't buy insurance for it.  Would the apple store replace it? ALL the buttons work, BUT are not tight. Also the battery charges way too fast (45 min). What should I do. Will it be okay? Help please.

Based on posts here, the loose buttons seem to be normal. Also, other users have report similar "fast" charging. That usually resolve after a number of charge/discharge cycles.

  • Dv6-3050us: Acceptable temperature range?

I have been monitoring temperatures on my newly purchased dv6 3050us and they seem to be quite high.  Currently, with cpu under less than 12% load my temperature is at 65 deg.  Between 50-100% cpu, the temperatures quickly climb to 80 deg, often hitting 83 deg.  This is all *after* using AMD Overdrive to undervolt by a significant factor.  The vents are clear, the computer is elevated, and the fan sounds as though it is functioning normally.  All HP upgrades have been applied.
I am wondering if these temperatures are within an acceptable range, or should I have my computer serviced?  My concern is that, on my old computer, 85 deg was the auto-shutoff temperature.  I'm worried to have a brand-new computer getting so close to that threshold.
    Here are the specs

I have noticed that the fans that are installing in the DV6-3050us are actually turning backwards. That accounts for the high temperature. Unfortunately explaining that to HP is like talking to the wall. I have sent mine in twice already due to the heat. All they do is put another fan that spins backwards and send it back.  The way the fan is designed it should turn in the direction of the concave side of the fan blade. Instead it turns in the direction of the convex side. Because of this it doesn't get the airflow that it should.

  • The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using. Now, no reactions. What should I do?

The button on my Ipod Touch (the big one just below the screen) will not work when I press it. Nothing happens, when before it would wake my IPod out of sleep mode, and exit out of programs I was using (ex. ITunes or Safari to main screen) . Now, no reactions. When I press the button, it appears to be more indented then it was before. What should I do? Do I need to get it fixed or replaced, or is this a problem I can fix on my own? Whatever it is, I really need some advice. Thanks in advance.

  • My ipod touch is flashing white on and off, I hold the buttons down, and the screen goes black- but the apple logo does not come on. What do I do?

So I have had this problem before, and know that you hold down the top Power button and the Home button, at the same time, for roughly 10 seconds, or until the apple logo comes on.
The problem is, when I press the buttons and the screen goes black, like it's supposed to before the logo pops up, the apple logo isn't appearing.
