You should know this better than us. Normally part is around $40 (more or less) and labour can be $50 to $200. I would charge this for $400 (minimum) or free.

Try the following.
Download the IDT Audio installer on the link below and save it to your Downloads folder.

When done, open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Sound, Video and Game Controllers. Right click the IDT device and select Uninstall - you should also get a prompt to remove the current driver, tick the box to allow this and then proceed with the uninstall.
When complete, restart the notebook and let Windows fully load. Open your Downloads folder, right click on the IDT installer and select 'Run as Administrator' to start the installation. When this has completed, right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices. Left click 'Speakers and Headphones' once to highlight it and then click the Set Default button - check if you now have audio.
If you still have no audio, open windows Control Panel, open Administrative Tools and open Services. Check that the following services are all showing as Status= Started and Start-up Type= Automatic
Audio Service
Multimedia Class Scheduler
Windows Audio
Windows Audio Endpoint Builder
If you need to make a change to any of the above, just right click the service and select Properties, then in the dropdown box next to 'Start-up type', select Automatic and click Apply to save the change. Then click the Start button.

USB ports not working Pavilion DV6-6165tx

hi all,
i bought pavilion dv6-6165tx 2 years back and ibought a new internal hdd as my old one became corrupt , i installed os win 7 pro (licensed ) and drivers from HP online.
now the problem is that my left side usb ports are not working , and also my finger print reader
when i checked in device manager i have 2 errors
1.)Universal Serial Bus (USB) controller
2.)Unknown device
and the hardware id's are as follows

Hi, I purchased HP Pavilion Dv6-6165tx and now I have to upgrade my laptop RAM.

In your laptop, a pair of either would be supported. Since you have an Intel processor your laptop can handle up to 16 gigs of memory, 2 x 8 gig DDR3-1333mhz SO-DIMM.

HP DV6 Base Enclosure Crack

Hi All,
Need your help i am having HP DV6-6165tx and i am having problem with my base enclosure.It is having crack 2 months back i seen a crack near by the subwoofer. And i tried to fix that but the plastic was so delicate that it got worse so i used
(M Seal) industrial grade epoxy compound to make the exact design to cover that broken plastic and hide that with colourful tape. But now again i am having one more crack near by the DVD drive. I am the only person who is using the laptop and let me assure that the laptop never fell or hit to something that will cause this breakage.Now i am not sure whether i should call HP for the replacement or not cause they might cover this in physical breakage but as i already told this is not physical breakage.So want to ask what should i do and feeling that why i bought this laptop i whould have gone for dell.

The case has cracked on your laptop.
The only thing that I can suggest is to call HP and tell them that you want to send it in for repair.
I’ve heard in some cases they will send the laptop to the repair center and let the repair technicians decide if the repair was accidental or not.
If they decide that it is accidental, they will ask you if you want to pay for the repair or not.

Keyboard wireless key not working after upgrading to windows 8.1

I am having hp pavilion dv6-6165tx notebook, where keyboard having a wireless button that turns ON and OFF all wireless devices, After upgrading to windows 8.1, HP Connection Manager is not getting installed, as well as Key is not working, key color turns red and white but no action is performed.
Kindly suggest me some solution.
Note: HP Doesn't provide drivers for windows 8/8.1 ONLY WINDOWS 7 for hp pavilion dv6-6165tx.

Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have looked into your issue about your HP Pavilion dv6-6165tx Notebook and the Wireless keyboard not working correctly. Here is a link to troubleshoot the keyboard.
The HP Connection Manager is something that is for Windows 7 not Windows 8.1. I would uninstall this from your Notebook. Here is a link to the HP Support Assistant if you need it. Just download and run the application and it will help with the software and drivers on your system that need updating. It has a troubleshooting tool in this.
Make sure all your updates have been completed. I would try restarting my Notebook a few times.
If that does not help I would uninstall the keyboard from the Device manager.

Windows 7 Home premium corrupted

I am using an HP Pavillion dv 6-6165 tx laptop.
The windows 7 home premium Os got corrupted and I had to install a trial version of windows to start my laptop. I dont have the recovery discs also.
Now what can I do so that I can start using the licensed version of the Windows that came with my laptop at the time of purchase?

Yes, prathik. You can do it either way & it'll work.
No manufacturer gives installation discs nowadays.
If you want to restore to factory set OS settings, you can order recovery media from HP in your region.
But if you're not covered under warranty, they'll charge you.

Laptop powers up, immidiately shuts off

I have a dv6-6165tx which has been working fine for almost 2 yrs until today. I dont use the laptop frequently. It is running on win 7 x64 it came with, and updated drivers.
I tried to run my laptop after a week of gap but it did not start. When I push the power button the lights come up and the display turns on but in a couple of seconds when the boot reaches hp or window logo it just gives up and shuts off, in a few seconds it attempts to restart on its own and gives up again. Unable reach bios either. Happens on both ac power and battery, and without battery.
However, if I remove the battery and disconnect the ac supply for a few minutes and do a hard reset, in the first run it runs normally and boots to windows and reaches desktop where everything runs normally until about 15 minutes when windows autimatically begins to shutdown, sometimes it shuts down and other times just drops dead. Then laptop attempts to restart again but shortly gives up like above.
I installed speedfan and gpuz to check overheating, I found them stable at 37C-40C so it doesnt appear to be the problem. I have searched over the internet and havent found much else to try and fix this.
Would appreciate any help in resolving the issue.

Can't Play Games on AMD Radeon 6770M??

Hello... i'm just figuring out to buy a new laptop n' that in my mind would probably be the hp pavilion dv6-6165tx ( this model is selling now in India n' sadly we can't customize them ) that has the intel corei7 2670QM and switchable Radeon 6770m. The other specs on this laptop look good as ever.
My primary concern it that.. i haven't played any games for last couple of years n' now i wanted to come back to gaming. This is indeed a good laptop for gaming but some new feature called the dynamic switching graphics is introduced that uses the gpu for 3d applications,games and intensive load apps while the integrated intel accelerator works for rest of the time. It's infact not working fine to the fullest as i came across discussions which said that the fps rates are falling down at certain points in game while it lags or freezes unconditionally several times. This looks like a big time problem to me as i want smooth gaming throughout and that the switching should be automatic but without some flaws.
So Please help me if the pavilion dv6 is worth a buy due to the radeon 6770m not being completely satisfied for gaming purpose as it the intel accelerator interrupts when it feels like the gpu's work is too small for it to be activated. If there is any fix for this issue pls post the same n' suggest me what i can do to get my complete experience after buying my new pavilion dv6.
Also, i have seen that the nvidia geforce gpu with optimus tech has the same problem though it is quite refined and introduced previously to the dynamic switching feature of the radeon cards.These are available on DELL,ASUS etc which were in my mind as to decide on what brand to buy. But they don't have a fix till now as the intel accelerator works at all times n' only at certain periods the gpu gets activated to assist the gma.
I need some valuable suggestions as how i could make my gpu be the default one or how to make better use of the automatic switching thing when playing demanding games.

AMD CCC not installing :(

I removed my ccc to install a newer version . The new version didnt install the issue - Install Package Failure and the winodw became 800*600 . Then i tried to install the orignal HP version of the driver and even that couldnt be installed because of the same error.

Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you;re having issues installing the GPU for your notebook.
Please make sure you are using the downloads directly from hp for your notebook. You can find them here: HP Pavilion dv6-6165tx Entertainment Notebook PC Drivers.
Check the system requirements and download descriptions to make sure you're installing the correct GPU drivers if more than one are available. This is especially important for notebooks with Dual-GPUs or switchable graphics.
I would also suggest trying a system restore to before making any of these changes if that does not resolve the issue. That should get you back to how things were running before tyring to update the CCC. You can do the system restore from within Windows or by tapping F11 while the notebook turns on to restore from the HP Recovery Manager.

The difference is that SSDs use NAND flash in the whole drive but hybrids combine NAND flash with a common hard drive which means that the hybrid has a 60GB of NAND flash part and 750GB of a common hard drive part (for example). I prefer pure solid state drives and recommend Corsair, Intel, Kingston or Samsung drives. After doing some data mining, found out from community this is an long standing APPLE problem- which doesn't get much tech support in terms of fixes. I have an HPPavillion DV6 64 bit, Windows 7 OS . After reading an earlier complaint from 2009 in the support community, I ran diagnostics from ITunes which gave the following result. Can someone please help? (I'm not enough of a techie to know what I'm doing or how to locate /reinstall CD drivers. I am searching for driver disc but cannot locate.)

Doublechecking ... did you have CD/DVD drive tests checked when you ran those diagnostics? (I'm not seeing the CD/DVD test results down the bottom of the results where I'd expect to see them.)
