Dv6-7010us motherboard

My dv6-7010us motherboard failed while my laptop was under warranty and i had it replaced by HP Malaysia. 2 months later the motherboard they replaced also failed and i had it also replaced. Now, this third motherboard has failed and I am at loss as to whether i should take the laptop back only to have to take it back after another 3 months.

My motheroarbd went out on my DV6 7010.
I had to wait awhile before I could get another MB so used the HD from it for another computer (HPG-60)
Now I am putting it back in my DV6 7010US.
The problem is it seems that the windows from my other computer is on this.
I am on it writing this (DV6 7010us) so can get online etc, but I wanted to re-install the oporiginal software that came with this computer.
I can't do a recover due to the stuff from the other puter being on the HD now.
I have a recovery disc set but thinks its for the other computer.
I have tried Windows and HP Updates, but still doesnt seem to reload.
I tried to get the website to auto detect and it said it couldnt detect this computer.
So no sure what to do. Am I going to have to order another set of discs, or do the discs I have work for almost all the HP laptops? The driver disc also, is it specific to a model or just general drivers?
I am downloading and installing all the drivers I can from HP driver download, but it still is not going back to the way it was.
    What can I do?

  • Where can i get hp pavillion dv6 1370ev motherboard

where can i get hp pavillion dv6 1370ev motherboard?

This manual shows the motherboards in the dv6 series.
Match the part number to the configuration of the notebook you plan on installing it in.
If you have already removed it, look for the part number and match it to what you see in the manual I linked to. Just do an online search for HP pavilion dv6 -1370ev replacement motherboard with Google or Bing to find a vendor with the best price. If you purchase it through HP Partsurfer you will pay much more than market price.

  • Dv6-7010us replacement SSD suggestions???

I recently purchased a dv6-7010us 1.9Ghz A4500 APU, 6GB ram, laptop. I have used two different brands and models of SSD drives with them both drives becoming unrecognized as a boot drive. The first drive was a Kingston 3K 120gb SSD which was brand new. I went through two other bad drives but the third one was working. The second drive was a Plextor 3s 128 gb SSD. This drive was my everyday desktop drive so it was in great shape. The Kingston wouldnt even boot into windows while the Plextor installed windows 7 64bit without a problem at first. Once I shut it down and 3 hours later turned it back on the computer couldnt recognize the drive as a bootable drive. Any help on this would be nice. Is this model not SSD compatible? That seems kind of lame if it isn't since its a newer model. If there are other brands and models of other SSD drives that have worked could you please share them with me? I am so bummed that my SSD's didn't work with this laptop. Thanks

I have had great success with OCZ Technology SSD drives.
I have used their Vertex and Agility3 models without any issues.
Are you certain that you have set the drives up correctly?
I used the procedure recommended by OCZ that requires the use of a Windows Command line utility called Diskpart to prepare a partition on the SSD for Windows. OCZ has the best support in the industry complete with a forum and tutorials on the use of each SSD type that they sell.  It is worthwhile to take a read of the forum. There is a chance that you will see a discussion of the installation and setup of the same type of notebook that you own.

  • HP Pavilion dv6-7010us BIOS corrupted

    Hello,
I have an HP Pavilion dv6-7010us laptop that I bought about 3 months ago. Two weeks ago, I was gifted a Windows 8 OS and wanted to upgrade my OS. As I wanted to change the boot order in setup, I handed the laptop to my brother who went on flashing the BIOS in my absence.
He later on put off the laptop while still in the process of flashing the BIOS. Now, when I put it on, the screen remains black and the caps lock key keeps flashing; the WiFi key also turns amber as the power is on.
I have tried tried the hard reset in vain without any results. I read in some forum some crisis recovery of corrupted BIOS  and downloaded the latest BIOS update for my laptop model.
My problem however is that, while the possible solutions talk about Winflash and some .fd or .bin file, I could not get any of those files. When I extracted the BIOS file, it gives me an InsydeFlash utility and some .dll files but no .fd file.
Can someone help me flash my BIOS while the laptop boot always fails?
    Thanks

    Try the process described here:

  • Pavilion dv6-7010us black screen, caps lock blinking indefinitely and orange wifi light

The laptop is a HP Pavilion dv6-7010us resently installed windows 8.1 pro, 8gb ddr3 (4gbx2), 320gb hdd (not the original hdd)
i was giving a normal maintenance to the laptop to remove the dust, nothing of the other world, the machine where functioning pretty well 'till this moment, i turn on the laptop and i see the caps lock blinking at 1sec intervals and the wifi light in orange not blinking just led on when i turn on (NOT NUM LOCK LIGHT ON), and this is it, nothing more, i dont know what to do, i use the WINDOWS KEY + B to reset the BIOS and nothing, i leave the power botton hold for a minute without the battery nor the power source, and plug the cable and turn on again without the battery and nothing, also where testing changing the memory from slots i have 2 memories of 4gb and nothing, anybody can tell me any combination of keys to resolve this that i don't use yet?

What did the normal maintenance include-any disassembly? I assume the laptop is still under warranty?

  • If HP DV6-7204se motherboard with GT630 DDR3 GPU could be replaced with GT650 DDR5 one.

I've recently bought my HP DV6-7204se laptop from the shop a couple of weeks ago.
But since the last week, my laptop has been giving quite some annoying problems. Like the headphones jack wouldn't work, (but the speakers would) even after enabling communication headphones and everything. Also after using factory recovery (multiple times), the problem would still persist. I gave it to the service center and got it resolved, but the problem came back again in a few days. So then, I did the recovery again tens of times, uninstalled and reinstalled the audio drivers only to end with another problem after my headphones jack worked again. The coolsense and 3d driveguard did not work anymore, so had to individually uninstall and reinstall their drivers again and use the factory recovery again and again.
Finally, in the end, everything worked perfectly. But after an hour of use, the screen flickered a couple of times after which the wifi turned itself off and the capslock key started blinking. (which according to the internet is a possible hardware issue) This would keep on happening after an hour of use, even after using the factory recovery AGAIN. :/
Now if it were a hardware problem, and the motherboard was to be changed, can I replace it with the motherboard of HP DV6-7214nr? It has a 650m DDR5 graphics card, which is quite a huge plus. And comparing all the specifications of chipset and everything, GPU is the only thing different. The spare part no. of my DV6-7204se is 682170-001 and that of DV6-7214nr is 682174-001.
In other words, I would like to replace my motherboard 682170-001 with 682174-001. I wish to know if that would work or present with another problem.
    Thank you,

And I'm thinking to get a new motherboard from ebay, to replace the old one.
The question is - are there any oportunities for upgrade? Can I get a motherboard with a more powerfull video chip? How to determine which motherboards will be compatible with my CPU and which are not? Are there any guide for this?
    Any advices are highly appreciated.
    Thank you very much.

  • Dv6-3109ca motherboard replacement

Hi, I am computer illiterate. My "guy" told me to order a new motherboard. I have a hp pavilion dv6-3109ca laptop. What motherboard will fit? Does the model # need to match perfectly or would any dv6-3000 series work? TIA

    Hi mouse795,
Not every dv6-3000 series motherboard is going to work and according the manual it could be one of five different motherboards. Are you able to turn your computer on? If you we will be able to get some more information.
What issue are you having with your Pavilion dv6-3109ca?

  • Dv6 replace motherboard

hey there, i have an HP Pavilion dv6-3172ee Entertainment Notebook, and i recently  got vga chip proplem with a black screen, and i tried everything out and didn't turn on, so it's time to change motherboard, what i want to know is.
can i upgrade my mother board with another dv6 model?
if so, what dv6 models available  to me?
where and how i can buy it? and ship it to Egypt ?
    thank you.

    Hey magdytadros,
Unfortunately, chassis mechanical designs change with each model, including the types of connectors used for the display, power, etc... So, a motherboard from a different model will not work and will probably not even fit.
If you're looking for a replacement, please contact HP Support directly to set up a repair: http://www8.hp.com/us/en/contact-hp/contact.html

  • HP DV6-6107tx motherboard issues

Hi, I have hp dv6-6107tx. The specs of the laptop is i7 2630qm, 1GB HD 6770m graphic card, 4gb memory. I want to replace its motherboard because it freezes after couple of minutes of usage, sometimes in 5 minutes and sometimes in 30. The question is whether I can replace it with motherboard which has 2gb vram instead of 1gb. I am not personally interested in 2gb but its cheaper on ebay and easliy found. I have found that the motherboard which supports quadcore processor and has 2gb vram has part number 650799-001. I wanted to know if it would support my 2630qm processor and fit my laptop. If you find my problem description confusing, please tell me, I will try to explain it more. Any input is appreciated.  Thanks

That board is listed in the Manual and would be a drop in replacement for the board you have.  Your Manual Please see page 27. Your processor is a Quad Core and is listed as compatible with the laptop and the 650799-001 board. Just be sure the freezing and such is not caused by something else like memory or hard drive before you go to the extraordinary step of replacing the motherboard.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

  • DV6-7010US Caps lock flash, no POST

System was not used for several months. When we tried to use it, the system was extremely unstable and crashed several times with Windows blue screen errors, randomly didn't detect the hard drive, etc. Then it just stopped booting at all, and instead has the orange WiFi light with the caps lock LED flashing once every second (or so) indefinitely. LED error codes list says this is "CPU not functional." Since then, both the motherboard and CPU have been replaced, but the system still gives the same LED error code.
Motherboard was ordered straight from HP Parts surfer, CPU from a 3rd party company with guarantee that item is tested as fully functional. Reports from this forum and others on this system and motherboard replacements are not overly positive. I'm tired of dumping money into this laptop and it not working. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

    Hi,
Remove the hard drive and boot up. If you can get to the BIOS, the hard drive is faulty. It's highly unlikely that the new board and the cpu will cause exactly the same error. It means that some other component from the system must be faulty.

  • DV6-7010US - repeated power up failure

I bought a refurbed DV6-7010 (AMD A8 cpu) in Oct 2013 and almost immediately it had a problem turning on.  When you pressed the POWER button the cooling fan spins up, the status lights on the keys flash then there is a loud click and it shuts down.  It does not even reach the point where the screen illuminates much less start POSTing.
I spent a number of hours on the phone back in Oct working through all the diagnostic testing including restoring from the D: drive 3 times.  It took several calls to get someone to accept that there was not a software problem.    It was repaired under warranty and returned very quickly.  The included work order copy said that the system board was replaced.  HP Support called within a few days to check up and I said everything was fine.  I asked if they could tell me what the refurb was and they confirmed that the system board had been replaced then also.  As the warranty ran out I felt okay but less than a month later the same problem popped up again.  That makes 3 bad boards in less than a year.  I spent about 4-1/2 hrs on the phone tonite dealing with India going through the diagnostics, reseating the battery etc... but of course nothing helped.  Tech Support says there is no report of a recall on this series and can't possibly be defective because they are great laptops.
I am paying full price for it to be repaired again since it's 'Out of Warranty' but since the warranty is the same 90-day I wonder if I'll get caught again.  SInce the sytem board has failed the same way 3 times I feel that HP should extend some customer courtesy and repair this for free or at least extend the warranty more than 90 days.
Has anyone else had similar issues with a laptop failing to power up?

After arranging for return to HP the laptop started booting properly - no reason for the change.  I returned to HP and they kept it for about 4 days and were unable to reproduce the problem either.  Thry called me to report and discuss the issue but nothing makes sense now.  I did have a problem accessing the restore function when I sent it back so they reformatted and reloaded the entire drive.  If it happens again I will make a video to document the problem and I recommend anyone else experiencing intermittent issues to do the same.
In the meantime I heartily endorse pen and paper, a proven technology for hundreds of years.  lol

  • DV6-7010us won't turn on. Light by charger port blinks orange 3 times when power button is pressed.

I took this laptop to a local computer store to try a new charger, but it still didnt turn on. I did the "hard reset" and tried to start with AC power and no battery but that also did not work. Is it possible that the battery is bad? I have searched and can not find another instance that describes exactly  what I'm experiencing.  The caps lock and other LED do not blink, only the light by the charger and it blinks orange 3 times.

It looks like the Notebook doesn't Power ON even with a known good Power Adapter this confirms the Hardware
fault with System Board or the DC Power Circuit of the Notebook
I strongly recommend you to immediately Contact HP Technical Support over the Phone for further assistance
