Dv6451us with no audio out (speakers/headphones)

I have put a new harddrive, motherboard, and reinstalled my original vista OS.  At first my audio worked fine, but now nothing works.  I have went round and round with hp technical support and three different reps have told me to do the same thing:  recovery, reinstall, and check.  I have done all of these along with a handful of other "solutions" that aren't solving the problem.  When I test the speakers it says that the device is working properly, but neither speakers or headphones are putting out sound.  Can someone please give me some advice?  Thank you in advance!

Try a System Restore back to just before you processed the "System Update". From the Start screen, type "System Restore" and select Settings at the upper right and then click on "Create a Restore point"  at the upper left and follow directions.

  • No Audio Out Of Headphone Or External Audio Output Jacks

We have a Rev. B Bondi iMac that I recently put in my wife's 4th grade classroom for her to use. When trying to hook up external speakers I discovered there is no audio output from the side audio output jack or the front two headphone jacks when listening to the CD player. (I also checked using headphones)
The internal speakers sound fine and normal. I do hear something very distorted and weak from the external audio output jacks but it is so distorted the only way I can tell it is coming from the CD player is by pausing its playing. I have been into OS X now for about 15 months and am starting to forget everything I knew of OS 8.6 which is in the Bondi.
I checked the sound portion of the Monitors and Sound Control panel and all seems set correctly. Is there some other setting that I have forgotten? Any ideas/suggestions will be greatly appreciated.
    TIA

    Herb Mesler...
Other than exercising the jack-ports with a plug from a headphone, it may need some expensive repair. However I do have a trick for you to try first.
    Here is my trick;
Computer must be off! Because there is some light voltage applied to the ports they can slightly arch, spoiling the trick. Arching is the root cause of electrical resistance thus not allowing for proper contact and sound will not pass through to the device.
Next take a plug "softly and full travel" through each port in the side and on the front. I repeat them about 5 times. (any proper spec/type of plug, like from a headphone can work. If it from something that is powered, like from speakers, do not use it)
Boot up the computer and test by avoiding the side ports, using only the front ports. Quite frankly I found the use of the side ports to be somewhat the cause of the problem. Mine has been taped off for about 6 years now and I never have had to repeat my trick to date.
Give it a try and post back if there is any questions. Also, I would like to hear your results.

  • MBP audio out from headphone jack is extremely low in volume

i just sent my macbook pro 13in (mid 2009 model) to the apple store (out of warranty). my problem was that the audio out from the headphone jack was very very low and staticky. the problem arose about 2-3wks ago. i've owned the laptop since june 2009. i've never dropped or damaged it (no water damage, etc)
my local apple store told me they had to replace logic board which seems extreme for what my problem is. i've read numerous forum posts saying that their computers came back with flickering "kernel panic"
has anyone else had a similar audio problem with their computer, and if so was it resolved in this manner?
    thanks!

I think you may be mistaken. the static coming from macbooks audio output port is as old a story as the macbook itself. IMO, epic fail on apple's part. I am debating complaining in a few months when I decide I deserve a better sound quality from a ridiculously overpriced laptop.

  • Longer cable (6') connecting female RCA L R Audio Out to Headphones In 3.5 on Vizio 32"?

What I want to do, since although the Vizio manual and the Best Buy sales rep, looking at the Vizio E320i-AO thought it came with a heandphone jack, it DOES NOT.   It does have, where the manual thought the headphone jack was,  L and R Audio Out ports.  My question concerns if anyone can suggest a 6' or so cable that would allow me, then, to connect Volume Out on my TV to Volume In to my headphones.  Thank you.

OK.  Apologies.  I ordered the wrong cable, based on a sales rep's suggestion and my not paying attention: more my fault than his.  Anyway, got the order cancelled.   The suggestion given to me is to get a 3" two RCA males to 1 3.5mm female.  And then find a cable with a female and a male 3.5 ends.  If anyone has been reading any of my posts, I offer my apologies.  I am back to square one.

  • K9VGM-V with no audio on front headphone jack

A week ago I put this MoBo in a eMachines Model T6216 that the original MoBo went up in smoke. I just now plugged the headphones into the front panel headphone jack and it doesn't work. When i go to the control panel and look in the sound tab it says that the headphones are not plugged in. Do I have a bad MoBo or is there a problem with my drivers? Any help would be greatly appreciated.

I did disable the front jack detection and now have audio in the headphone jack

but it doesn't mute the speakers when I plug the headphones into the headphone jack.
You can manually disable the Rear Panel Jack that your speakers are plugged into via the Realtek HD Audio Manager. Simply klick onto the image that represents the corresponding audio jack.

Also when I check the audio devices the headphones doesn't show up when they are plugged in.
As was stated before, AC/97 front panel wiring is not 100% compatible with the Intel HD Audio/Azalia standard.  Disabling Automatic Front Panel Jack Detection of course has the consequence that your headphones are not automatically detected.  Stuff that is not detected do not appear as connected.  However, disabling the detection feature is the only way to get your front panel jack to work in spite of the incompatibility between AC/97 and Azalia specifications.

  • My videos play with video/audio out of sync in itunes, what gives?

All of my itunes video library, including those purchased from the itunes store, play with the video/audio out of sync.  However, if I use Quicktime, they play fine. I just noticed this recently with the latest update to itunes.

I found the solution using google search.  Basically you have to downgrade your itunes software to version 10.7 and rebuild your library.   Just type in iTunes audio/video out of sync on google search and you will find the solution I am talking about.   I didn't think it would actually work because supposedly apple knows what it's doing but not in this case.  Why they would put out a new version of itunes that makes none of your videos play right, even ones you purchased from itunes is beyond me but I'm sticking with version 10.7 for as long as I can.

  • After Effects rendering the video with the audio out of sync

so, the thing is, i did the animation on flash, exported it, put it on after to edit audio and what not, everything looks fine, previews are good, so, lets render!... every time i render the final video have the audio out of sync, specially the audio that is already on the first video. the video its originally on 12 fps, if i change the interpretation to 24fps, everything get worse. any help?

ok, both Flash and After effect are CS6, i have a Lenovo Ideapad, can handle 64 bits
first i exported the video on .MOV from Flash CS6, without any problems
Then i finished the edition on After Effects, everything look good.
i have tried to render it on MOV, AVI, MP4 and the audio for the video that was exported from flash always get out of sync. i dont really move anything else

  • Can't get Behringer MS20 external speakers to work with Optical Audio Out

I have the MS20 (Just your basic digital audio monitors with analogue and digital inputs:both coaxial and optical) speakers hooked up to the optical output from my new Mac Pro and can't get any sound from them.
I've messed around with all the sound preferences in both the System Preferences and with iTunes and DVD player with no luck.
The speakers work fine with other digital equipment I have and there is a red light comming through the cable. The speakers instructions do specify that they are compatable with the SPDIF signal. Any ideas???

I've previously had trouble getting the sound output to swap over however I did manage to get it done. What I needed to do was to change the output, change the volume up & down via the keyboard, change the output back to the internals, change the volume up & down and so on and after the 2nd/third try the external output worked.

  • No audio from speakers, headphones work just fine

    Hello everybody!
I have a problem with my speakers can anyone help me? I have a satellite L855 laptop with realtek HD audio and windows 8. I was playing some civ 5 last night when my computer suddenly freezed. When i restarted the computer had a system update. After the system update the sound does not work from the internal speakers.
Headphones work just fine though and everything looks normal (the green "sound bars" are moving even though i don't have sound).
i have checked the device manager and everything looks just fine.
I have updated my realtek drivers but it didn't help.
I have double checked and nothing is muted.
I have no idea what might've gone wrong, everything works perfectly except the speaker audio. I just bought this computer a week ago and i would be really pissed if i already had to get it to a repair station.
    Can anyone please help me?

  • Having trouble with HDMI audio out or earphones audio out

I have a new 13 MacBookPro running Snow Leopard. I would like to connect to my TV. (I put on Lion and couldn't get it to find the TV at all. I reloaded Snow Leopard and udated the software on the MacBookPro and on the TV itslef. I can't seem to get the audio to go out to my TV using an HDMI cable or the earphone jack. I have tried adjusting the audio in System Preferences > Sound. When I unplug the wire connceting the headphone jack to the TV it plays through the internal speakers. Any ideas?

Sonicray, I have checked my owner's manual and it does say that an additional audio cable may be required. I thoroughly looked over the manual and can find no place where it talks about enabling audio for HDMI. I already have the Moshi Mini DP to HDMI Adapter that is advertised on the Apple Store. I wouldn't mind even using the separate audio cord. Just wish it would work.

  • IPhone - left channel audio only (speakers & headphones)

I own an iPhone 3G. Audio only comes from the left channel in iTunes, apps etc. This is true whether there are headphones connected or not, which seems to suggest it's not simply a poor connection in the stereo jack.
From what I read there's no software balance control but I wonder if this issue is common or resolvable. I'd love to fix this!
Any suggestions? What can I do to fix it?
    Thanks in advance!

The iPhone includes a single external speaker, but you should hear sound out of both earbuds when listening to music with headphones.
If the same occurs with more than one set of earbuds or headphones, your iPhone probably has a hardware problem if the standard troubleshooting steps do not resolve this which in order are powering your iPhone off and on, an iPhone reset, restoring your iPhone with iTunes from your iPhone's backup, and restoring your iPhone with iTunes as a new iPhone or not from your iPhone's backup.
If no change after these troubleshooting steps and the same occurs with more than one set of earbuds or headphones, you can call AppleCare or make an appointment at an Apple store if there is one nearby.

  • Need help with digital audio out on qip7232

    Have seen lots of posts about digital and optical outputs from the QIP 7232. I want to run a digital, stereo, 2 channel LPCM signal out to a stereo receiver. There are posts on this forum that say that both outputs are disabled by Verizin. There are other posts that suggest various settings that could be tried but none of these have been  confirmed to work. I have set the output to Stereo in the regular menu. I have set the output to LPCM in the hidden menu. Still, no audio output. I do have analogue output from the stereo left and right but want to get digital. Can anyone help ? Does anyone have either the digital or optical outputs working? Thank you Jim {Edited for privacy}

toslink cable will also work with MBP.

  • External speakers - audio out not working

I have these old Creative speakers with a subwoofer that I often use with my macpro laptop.
I just bought a 4K Mac Pro tower, and on the back, I see two similar jacks, one of them with a little speaker icon, which I assume, means thats where I should plug the speakers in.
I plug my speakers in there and they don't work. I plugged my speakers into the little jack next to it, and it still didn't work. I did this extensively. Stupidly, even.
I plug my speakers in the headphone jack on the front and they work just fine.
The speakers have always worked, we used to use them as part of our home stereo system, and they were plugged into an audio out jack. I've never had a problem with them.
Is there something wrong with the audio out jack on the back of the tower? Is there a way to fix this? A driver? Software? It's not a huge deal, but I would rather keep ugly cables behind my computer.
    Thanks!

Do you know if there is a way to have the sound output coming from both analog audio outputs at the same time - from the headphone jack and the back jack? I'm amazed you can't have both working at the same time.
    With Audio Hijack Pro
    <http://www.rogueamoeba.com/audiohijackpro/>
you can take the output from any application, or all system output, and use the "Auxiliary Device Output" effect to send it to a second output device.

  • K8N Diamond Plus audio out problem

    Hi,
I'm having an issue with the audio out on my K8N Diamond Plus. The rear audio out works fine when left jumpered. However when I connect the front panel audio connector to the mother board the volume of the rear audio out drops to an almost in audable level while the front panel audio works as expected.
At first I thought the rear audio had been completely disabled until I tried turning my speakers all the way up.
Is there a software issue here?
FYI I'm trying to use the front pannel audio connection on a Silverstone TJ07 case.

hey - mikein_texas here - i have same board but with a Centurion case -
couple of things i ran into - maybe will spark some ideas
initally i hooked up front panel audio and got nothing
then i read on page 2-19 of manual that 5-6,9-20 have to be jumpered for rear audio to work
but that means no front audio which was a drag - but solved that prob with usb mike and headphones
apparently unless i am reading it wrong and someone please correct me if so, but you can have front audio OR rear audio
    BUT not both
again look at page 2-19 in manual and specifically at text in grey box in middle of page

  • Audio out?

    MacBook
    Mavericks
In System Preferences, Sound, I only have an optical digital out with the red light showing through the headphone port.
How can I restore audio out for headphones?
    Thanks

There's a tiny switch in the headphone jack that's supposed to switch it between analog and digital. If it's stuck, sometimes plugging and unplugging a set of headphones can unstick it.
