Dv6618eo Entertainment: Windows 7

Hello, HP community.
I got a two year old HP Pavilion Media Center dv6618eo Entertainment Notebook PC and I am wondering about Windows 7 - will my computer "make it", do all these amazing functions this computer got. It's the perfect school computer and I really won't buy a new one, so I'll be waiting until 22th October 09 with Win7's final release.
Anyways, these amazing functions - will they work with a new operating system like Windows 7? I'm thinking of the Quickplay-functions, the controller (for presentations etc etc) Will it come any uptates for the computer even though the production has ended? Or, will I be stuck with Vista x32 forever on this PC?
Thanks for all answers.

Your laptop and it functions should all work fine under Windows 7.  If you do a clean install of Win 7 and need any drivers you can use your Vista drivers page.Or copy C:\SwSetup folder to dvd before the clean install. It contains drivers and application installers that can be used after.

  • Severe problems with X-Fi XtremeMu

Just got a X-Fi XtremeMusic and it's causing havoc with my computer.
    My computer:
    ASUS A8 MX Motherboard
    Geforce 7600 GT graphics card
    024mb of DDR 3200 RAM
    Help please!
First of all I took out my old Li've! card and replaced it with the X-Fi. On first boot into windows, I was greeted with a black screen and my monitor was displaying "No Signal". Then I tried Linux too to see if it was just a windows problem. There it was just a white and grey screen. Obviously my graphics card was not working for some reason.
So, I took out my GeForce and used the onboard graphics (Radeon Xpress). I could boot into Windows but now my internet wasn't working. Anyway, I put in the CD and installed the software. Seemed to go fine. Boot up, fine also. When I go play sound however, it plays for about a second, is blank for 2 seconds, plays for another second and so on. No amount of fiddling with the settings seems to change anything.
Slowly giving up, I try to get my internet at least working. I disable the onboard network card and put in a spare D-Link one into a spare PCI slot. Still no internet! XP says that network cable is unplugged. As soon as I take out the X-FI card however, both work fine. As does my Geforce.
So, I have no sound, no graphics card and no internet with the X-Fi in my computer.
I have tried fiddling with every bios setting, disabling and enabling things, tried placing the X-Fi in different PCI slots, trying different amounts of RAM in different configurations, disconnecting dri'ves etc. Nothing seems to work. I am also using my newest BIOS version and I have also downloaded the lastest drivers from Creative.
Anyone know what's wrong? The card faulty perhaps? Help!

OK, I had a go at installing the drivers again. Here's the deal. In the speaker setup, the same as before is happening. I ignored this, and continued through the setup. To see if it would even output any sound to my rear speakers, I opened up the Entertainment Window and activated CMSS-3D, and moved it to 50%. Sure enough, it outputs sound to my rear speakers. Can anyone suggest why the test doesn't work though?
I'll try testing a 5. DVD tomorrow and seeing what happens. I'm really hoping the speaker setup is in the wrong.Message Edited by FlamingNinja on 07-06-2006 07:46 AM

  • Speaker output problems with X-Fi XtremeMu

Today, I bought an X-Fi XtremeMusic card because I was sick of trying to coax my onboard audio to work. I own a set of Logitech Z-5500Ds, and the rear and centre speakers were gathering more and more dust, while my onboard sound refused to work. I should add, my onboard sound did work for a few weeks, but stopped working after what I assume was me installing something that conflicted with it. Anyway, enough about that. I purchased the X-Fi XtremeMusic in the hopes that it would resolve my problems.
Before doing anything, I disabled my onboard audio in the BIOS. After this, I put the card in my computer and installed all the SB X-Fi software and drivers. I restarted, as directed, and when I logged on into my account, The Creative speaker set-up greeted me. I went through the process of selecting my speaker setup (5.) and testing the channels. Left and Right channels worked perfectly, which was expected. When I tested the Rear Left and Rear Right speakers, however, the sound came from the Left and Right speakers, respecti'vely. Moving on to the the Center/Sub test, I was even more disappointed when the Center sound came out of the Left, Right AND Center speakers, and the Sub sound came out as a quiet white noise from both the Left and Right speakers. Now this is EXACTLY what was happening before I bought the card, and I really don't know what to do.
I really want to resolve this issue, so I ask for anyone's help. As of now, I've uninstalled all the drivers and software from Creative, and ready for any advice I'm given.
    Thanks
EDIT: I should also add that I'm POSITIVE that everything is plugged in correctly, and that my Rear and Center speakers, as well as my sub work, because I've hooked up my speakers to my Xbox via Optical, and they all work perfectly.Message Edited by FlamingNinja on 07-06-2006 05:28 AM

  • No aidio out put device

pavilion dv 7-4170 us entertainment windows 7 no audio device it was un installed by mistake what can i do

Hello mbradford1199.  I understand that you are being told that you have no audio output device installed.
There are two possible soundcards for this notebook and each has its own driver.  There is a Realtek device and a Contexant device.  First try to install the Realtek device, here is a link.  If that driver does not work for you I suggest trying the Contexant driver.  Here is the link.
If neither of these drivers work I'd like to see if Windows is detecting a sound card at all.  Try the following.
Click Start, type "Device Manager," and press Enter.
Do you have a "Sound, video, and game controller" section?  If so, expand it.
    List everything you see here.
I will keep an eye out for the results.  Have a great day!
Please click the white star under my name to give me Kudos as a way to say "Thanks!"
Click the "Accept as Solution" button if I resolve your issue.

  • Setup problem of Entertainment Center for Windows 7.

There is a problem with Creative's Entertainment Center for Sound Blaster X-Fi. In the download section for my SB X-Fi Platinum card, the Entertainment Center setup file is only available for Windows Vista and not for Windows 7. Even if I choose compatible mode for Windows Vista it won't work because in the installation process you'll get an error message when it's almost about to finish all the time at the same spot. It would be great if someone could correct this now because it has been like this for a long time.

B? You have Creative Console Launcher, I believe and that is the program you can use to change between audio creation, entertainment and gaming mode. Each mode highlights the card's specialities in that area. You have a vitural multi-track mixer in audio creation mode. You have Dolby and DTS encoder/decoder options in entertainment mode, and you have a generic access to the cards other features in gaming mode.

    Hi Suresh,
    Thank you for your reply.
Devices should appear in the top right of iTunes, as seen in this image:

If you do not see your iOS device in this menu when you connect it to your computer, it may not be recognized by iTunes. In this case, I recommend the troubleshooting steps in this article:

  • Driver windows 8 - Entertainment Notebook HP Pavilion dv6-6030el

    Hello,
I bought just 1/2 years ago the Entertainment Notebook HP Pavilion dv6-6030el. it's operational system was windows 7 and now i have upgrade the operational system's with windows 8. The problem it's that i can't find the drivers for the various hardware that are present in the notebook.
How where i can find the drivers?
    Thank you
    Luca from Italy

    Try here.
     http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/556469-drivers-hp-dv6-4xxx-dv6-6xxx-dv7-5x...
The page blankets a number of models, so be sure and choose the drivers that are applicable to yours.
Note that if you install the AMD driver from there, some of your advanced features may be missing. So in this case you may have to use the W7 driver from you HP support page.
Do a clean install of the driver, just don't install it over top of the old one.

  • How to uninstall game and Entertainment applications using SCCM on window 7 system

    Hi all,
how to uninstall Product Category like Game or Entertainment applications  using SCCM on window 7 system,If you have any documentation or guide for it please let me know,
    I really appreciate your help.
    Thanks
    viru

There's no magic button in ConfigMgr that will just do everything for you. Just like you can't walk up to the computer, log in and click a button that says "uninstall all the games and fun stuff" ConfigMgr also can't do that. You'd need to define
what items you'd like to uninstall, find the uninstall strings for each one individually and deploy those to the machines which have the app installed.

  • HDMI Option Not Available in Windows 7 (x64) [HP Pavilion DV5 1138-NR Entertainment Notebook PC]

I have just recently upgraded my laptop from Vista Home Premium (x64) to 7 Ultimate (x64). I currently have my laptop connected to an HP w2338h monitor with built-in speakers, and it gave me the option to use it in Vista. When I upgraded, I get the video perfectly fine but the audio does not work. I checked my Playback Devices, but it didn't have the HDMI Output. Oh and I installed the IDT Audio Driver and the Intel Graphics Media Accelerator from Windows Update. Any Ideas?
    Thanks!
    This question was solved.
    View Solution.

SOLVED! The problem for me was that the Intel Driver itself was not compatible for some reason. If you go to Start > Right-Click Computer > Click Properties > Click Device Manager on the side > Go to Sounds and Audio Devices > Click on Intel High Deffinition Audio HDMI
When you go through the update process, there is a second option for the driver itself called High Deffinition Audio Device. Use that driver instead and VOILA! Now it works perfectly fine.

  • HP Pavilion DV6t-3100 CTO Entertainment Notebook PC - Upgrade hard drive to SSD and windows 8?

I want to upgrade my hard drive (WDC WD6400BEVT-60A0RT0) to SSD for faster performance AND upgrade to Windows 8. How should I proceed? Which should come first?
I am not very knowledgeable about these things, but I have changed hard drives before -- never an SSD though. Never had BIOS problems in these changes, so never bothered with it either. No experience about that. I am practically illiterate about that part.
What should I be careful about? Any SSD drive would work? Would BIOS (F.29) and motherboard (144A 65.38) be relevant? How should I choose my new SSD?
Do I absolutely need to clone C: drive? Could I not install windows 8 fresh/anew? What problems may I have with a new SSD?
In short -- what would be the best and least problematic way to do this?
I will back up my audio, video and office files. All copy-paste stuff. I have no problem with installing all my programs from scratch.
I couldn't find a specific thread that provides a comprehensive answer so I opened this thread.
    Thanks.

It should be pretty simple _ remove the battery and adapter _ install your SSD _ hold down the power button for 1 full minute.
Eject the DVD tray with the manual eject hole using a bent out paper clip.
Load you W8 disc _ close the tray and plug in the adapter.
Boot up, it should just boot to the W8 disc, if it doesn't there will be a quick flash on the screen when to press the esc key, after that you choose f9 (with out checking) and tell the BIOS to boot from the CD/DVD ROM.
(the W8 disc will format the drive automatically)
Get the newest SSD you can find, don't buy old junk from eBay _ always buy from a reputable dealer.
I have Samsung SSD in my dv8 and has no problems, my old dv7 has an Intel SSD and it's been good too _ no problems. Stay away from bargain deals with obscure brand names.
There are no official drivers posted for your machine for W8, so you can/will have to use the generic ones, but some times the HP OEM W7 drivers will work.
Start with you Chipset driver first _ I think it's Intel _ there are no specs listed as your's is a CTO model.
Get the Chipset driver direct from Intel _ they may have updated their auto driver finder to scan in a W8 environment.
Install the rest of the drivers in any order. You can also use Windows update to find the drivers as well, it's up to you.
Be aware that some things may not work in W8, like you finger print reader.
The SSD will behave exactly the same as a standard drive, the only difference is that it will run faster.

    Hi,
Open windows Control Panel, open Device Manager and open up Display Devices - make a note of the hardware listed here i.e. ATI, NVidia or Intel.
Next, connect your notebook via HDMI to your Tv.  Right click the speaker icon in the Taskbar and select Playback Devices.  Left click once ( just to highlight the entry ) the HDMI Output that has the same name as your display adapter and then click the Set Default button - see if you now have audio.

  • Dv6928us HP Pavillion Entertainment Laptop - Windows 7 Compatibility?

With Windows 7 reaching RTM, I wanted to know whether anyone had seen driver issues that may prevent a fresh install of Windows 7 Pro (32bit) from functioning correctly.
Is anyone here aware of any hardware conflicts, or hardware that would not work correctly?
I plan on backing up everything before I make the attempt of course, but wanted to get a heads up as to issues.
For instance, does Windows 7 include drivers for the WebCam that is part of the system?
The aim of starting fresh is so that I can install only the software I require, without the additional support options provided by HP.
I already have the latest BIOS updates.

That only issues I have heard of are the webcam possibly not working and the QuickLaunch buttons above the keyboard.
