DV6725ee WIFI card upgrade

Hi,
I have a Pavilion DV6000 (DV6725ee) I am trying to upgrade the Mini PCI-e Wifi card, having looked at the service book I purchased a BCM94321MCP1, which is a listed compatabile device, however on installing and booting the laptop it hangs with a message saying that the WIFI card is not a compatabile one.
Is there a way to boot with this card installed or is there a compatatible BroadCom card that I can use?
Currently I am back to using the Intel one that is provided, but is tempermental.
Any help will be gladly appriciated.

Hi:
If you bought it from HP with the HP part # on it, it should have worked, and I would have no idea why it didn't.
I have a dv6810us and it uses the same card (for use in the USA/Canda, part # 434661-001.
I bought mine used on eBay for less than $10 a year or so ago. Works great.
You can only buy the card with the HP part number on it, or it will not work.
If that is what you did, then buy on eBay and query only by the part number.
Do not buy a card unless you see one with the actual picture of the card with the part # on it.
Here is a link to the 434661-001 cards available on eBay.
http://www.ebay.com/sch/i.html?_from=R40&_sacat=0&_nkw=434661-001&_sop=15
If you don't live in the USA/Canada then do your search by part # 434661-002.

  • AC wifi card upgrade for dv7-6b77dx?

Hi.  I'm considering purchasing a router utilizing the new AC wireless standard and I'm wondering if there are any AC wifi cards that are approved for use in the US with the dv7-6b77dx?  I was looking specifically at the Intel 7260HMW but if there's any other AC wireless card that's approved for use I'm open to alternatives.
If there aren't any currently approved for use, is there any expected timeframe when one will be?  Thanks.
    This question was solved.

Thanks Huffer.  I thought that was probably the case but figured I'd just check anyway.  Good info though to know that HP doesn't add new wifi cards to the approved list with bios updates.  Not what I wanted to hear of course but at least I know now not to wait for that and go with a USB adapter instead if AC wireless is something I really want.
FYI though for anyone else considering this upgrade, I just tested an AC USB adapter from my local Best Buy along w/a new AC router and I wasn't that impressed (great at short range but no better and actually worse than N at a distance which is what I really wanted it for).  Maybe that was just the router and adapter I tried (both Linksys) but for now I've decided to just return those and stick with the laptop's Centrino N card.

  • T430S Wifi Card Upgrade

    Hello,
I have a T430S with a Intel Centrino Ultimate-N 6300 Wifi Card installed. I would like to upgrade to an AC card, dual band or better.
Any suggestions on cards? Is this even do-able with respect to the BIOS limiations?
    Thanks!!

    Hello.
It is doable, but not without modding your BIOS whitelist. Google is your friend if you want to do that.
    Cheers!

    Hi vineetjk76,
Thank you for considering Sony Community!
There are some parts of the laptop that we do not recommend upgrades. Hard disk drive and memory (RAM) are the parts that we recommend. Aside from that, your Vaio SVT11125CNS is not a U.S. model. We have limited information about the specification and other parts and accessories that are compatible with your computer.

  • T61p WiFi card upgrade possible ?

    Greetings All;
I have an Intel 4965 AGN (with N working) and a WD750N dual band router. I currently get 300Mbs speed but I was wondering if there is a Lenovo upgrade card that would get the 450 Mbs on the 5gHz side ? Is there a way to get both bands enabled at once ? Just new to this recent WiFi stuff. Any help greatly appreciated.
    Thanks
    Donald

There is no official upgrade path to 450Mbps.
You'll need a newer card and a modded BIOS in order to use it.

  • Is really not possible to install  a WIFI card in my Quad?

I am being told that the only way to insall a WIFI card/upgrade kit in my Quad G5 is to take it in to a certified tech. Being overseas right now limits that option. Can I not just take the screwdriver to it and follow a visual manual(link need here if you know of one) and put that puppy in there? I am of the impression that i have to remove the whole CPU unit to get behind there to the location on the mother board where it is to slot in.
Whats the real scoop- is this just being said to rack up the $ or is there some special tool that is needed or is it too delicate an operation?
    Thank you,
    -todd

ps i cant do any of take it apart my self and install it i just wan to know how much it will cost going through apple
    thanks

Why do people think they are postiing in a notebook forum when if you look around, this is clearly something else.
If you really want a new Mac you have to buy one. That is part of the fun of owning laptops, they are not upgradeable.

  • Upgrade Wifi Card in my Satellite Laptop Help.

So our cable/Internet guy come out to our house to fix the internet, when he was done he did a test on all the computers, all were fine accept this laptop. The wifi speed is only pulling in half of what all the others are, even if we hold it directly next to the router.
I want to upgrade the wifi card to something that can take more advantage of our high speed interent, but i have little experience with laptops. I have been building and repairing my families desktop PCs for years, so i do have some experience in this area though.
i did some reading on how to phisically replace the card, so i can probably handle that pretty well, my real problem is finding out what cards are compatable. I can't find any detailed enough specs to find this information, such as, does the wifi card in this laptop use a PCIE slot or something else? Are there different size cards  i need ti look out for, and i read something about BIOS white liisting.
One article said some manufatcurers black/witelist some hardware, and i was told to check and see if i can find if this is so, and if i can find the list. I would apreciate any help with thiis issue, thanks.
Anyways, my laptop version is, Satellite Toshiba C875D-S7331

I would love to see that list also I replaced my card with an azurewave broadcom card mod BCM94352HMB I can now connect at 866 mbps on AC but have found no way to get bluetooth to work the different driver installs tell me to turn on the Bluetooth I could not find anything in the bios to enable. The card is a 802.11/ac/867Mbps WLAN+BT4.0 half mini PCI-E.
computer is a S855-S5254....Both win10TP and 8.1 installed the proper broadcom driver automatically but I have not figured out the BT yet. This card picks up wifi better than the realtek that was original. I have read a lot of complaints on the intel cards so I went this way.

  • HP 15 TouchSmart Notebook PC upgrade for stock wifi card

I would like to know what wifi card I can buy to replace the stock card in my Notebook:
    Intel(R) Core(TM) i3-3110M CPU @ 2.40GHz
    BIOS version F.17
    Windows 8.1 64 bit
    TIA

In my experience, most laptops don't support being able to replace these kind of components with 3rd party options. If the wifi card has failed, you would have to purchase one with the same part number or risk your motherboard/bios not recognizing the card. It is more than just a driver issue. Many manufacturers will write support for only a few (sometimes, only one or two) cards into the bios. There may be a way if you are comfortble modding your bios, but that is beyond my ability to talk you through.

  • I have a dv4-2180us and I want to change out the wifi card for one w/ bluetooth and 5G

Product name dv4-2180US. My wifi card is intel wifi link 1000 BGB, and I'd like to switch it out to an intel 6230 that has both. Is it possible to modify the BIOS? I have upgraded my BIOS to the most recent 55454 hoping that would correct the problems with the keyboard...which it has not...but I'm far more interested in making full use of my network., Thanks.

I can tell you that you need to make sure the form factor is the same on the new as the existing one.
The bios really has no bearing on it. Its hardware thats compatible with hardware.
Parts like that are not readily available to swap from machine to machine. There are standards for which the card interfaces to the machine and thats why I mentioned the form factor of the card.
Physical dimensions are also to be noted, as some cards are larger than others with the same form factor.
You really have to do your homework and research to see what will work.
Your machine may already have a slot availble for a bluetooth board, or fingerprint reader as those are both viable options.
You are not likely going to get bluetooth and wireless n on the same card anyways. I would suggest looking for a dual band wireless n card and seeing if you have another slot to put a blutooth module into.
Another option is to get a type 2 cardslot module and just insert it when you need it. If your machine has this type of external cardslot it may be your cheapest option.

  • Yoga 2 11 support for new AC Wifi card

I just recently upgraded my Yoga 2 11 with a new Crucial MX100 512 GB SSD.  While in the laptop, I pulled the factory Wifi card and bought and installed the Intel Dual-Band Wireless AC 7260.  I get the dreaded error on bootup that it has detected a unsupported wi-fi card.  Is there a supported AC card for this machine, or plans to support this Intel card?
The top card is what came from the factory (real piece of junk), and the bottom is the new Intel card.

Have you considered looking at what's available in the Lenovo Outlet ?
    Here's one example, Y11s Haswell: http://outlet.lenovo.com/outlet_us/itemdetails/59RF0542/445
Listed as a refurb. My experience with refurbs from the outlet is that I couldn't tell them from 'new'. YMCV.

  • Compatible WIFI card for Thinkpad a21m, wifi orinoco silver no longer working

Thank you for having this forum available.
My husband passed down his Thinkpad A21M Type 2628-GTU to our son. The wifi card that was with it is a Lucent Technologies Orinoco Silver 11mbit/s t/n 03549501 p/n012938/c. When powered up last night, the ethernet was fully functional, but the wireless card didn't connect to the net. My husband assumed the Lucent card was bad. Is there something compatible I may buy to replace it? Do you have a suggestion on what he might have missed in trying to get it to work at home?
He has used this laptop all over the country including at home before, so I would imagine he knows what he is doing. But, we do have a new service provider since the company upgraded his computer system.
    Thank you so much!

    Welcome to the forum!
Honestly, it's time to upgrade to a newer card anyway, at least b/g. Any PCMCIA wireless card will work with your A21m, it all depends on your router, and your personal preferences.
    Hope this helps.

  • Are you going to add Intel 7260 AC WiFi card to X230's BIOS whitelist?

Are you going to add Intel 7260 AC  WiFi card to X230's BIOS whitelist in the future?
I'm thinking about upgrading my wifi-card to an Intel AC card.
    Thank you.

Presently Lenovo Regulatory Notes list consists wifi adapters with AC specification support in the m.2 formfactor only, for the new laptops line on Haswell. Do conclusions yourself.

  • Can I add a mini pci WiFi card in my Sat Pro L10?

My L10 has no internal wifi card installed but the motherboard has a socket for it. The wifi switch on the front is blanked off and the keyboard hot key is not configured.

    Hi
As far as I know you can upgrade the unit with the wifi mini PCI card. The Fn keys should also works and should enable the antenna with the key combination FN+F8.
I also found the hotkey utility and a wireless driver for this unit on the Toshiba page.

    Hello,
Is it possible to change the internal wifi card of my laptop toshiba u200-163 as I can change the hard drive?
    Thanks.

    Hi Marcin
MikroTik is not known to me but you can try to upgrade it with R52 WLAN card. Every notebook manufacturer offers one or maybe two different WLAN cards with own notebooks. This card is definitely not offered by official upgrade parts and you can test it on your own. If something goes wrong you can bring the card back.
Just be careful with upgrade itself. If you do this alone you can cancel valid warranty. Maybe you should contact Toshiba service partner in your country and talk with them. Maybe they can exchange the card for you and you will not lose your warranty.
