  • Lumia 920 Camera won't turn on after taking out of...

Hi everyone! I have a problem with my lumia 920. Everytime I take it out of my jeans pocket, the camera won't turn on (from the side button or camera app). It'll open and show camera icons that i can't touch and then just exit out of the app. I usually have to reboot the phone (sometimes twice) and then the camera will work. Has anybody ran into this problem? I haven't reset the phone, but I don't want to because I have a lot of apps and data I don't want to lose. What should I do? Also, everytime I reboot the phone, my volume goes to 19 instead of staying at previous 30. Is this common with all windows phone? Please and thanks!

Yes I tried that and no luck. Now the camera doesn't work even after 3 reboots. I did the full reset on the phone and the phone got stuck on the spinning gears so i had to unbrick it and now I'm back and the windows start screen and the camera works. It's only a matter of time. I might have to get ANOTHER replacement device

  • Laptop won't turn on after BIOS update

A few days ago, my 9470m Ultrabook automatically updated its BIOS. This was fine, as it has updated its BIOS before in the past. I went to do some things while it updated, and when I came back, the laptop had turned off. The charge light (the lightning bolt light on the edge of the laptop) was blinking white and amber and did not turn on when I pressed the power button. When I took off the battery, the light stopped blinking, and when I put the battery back in, the light began to blink again, but the laptop still would not turn back on when I pressed the power button. I've tried taking off the battery and plugging in the AC only, but still the light would just blink and the laptop would not turn on when I pressed the power button. I do not know what is wrong. The laptop had been working flawlessly until the BIOS update. Any help would be appreciated.
    Thanks to any support.

    Hi,
At first, please try a Hard Reset as follows.
    Performing a hard reset
Disconnect all peripheral devices and remove all USB devices and SD media cards.
Disconnect the AC power adapter, remove the battery and then press and hold the power button for at least 15 seconds to drain all residual power and restore default startup settings.
Reconnect the AC power adapter (but do not insert the battery), press the Power button, look for glowing Light Emitting Diodes (LEDs) near the caps lock and num lock keys, and listen for sounds of a fan or other moving parts turning.
If the computer starts normally after performing a hard reset, you are done troubleshooting.
When the Notebook restarts keep tapping the f10 key to enter the bios menu.  Press f5 to load the defaults (this is sometimes f9, but the menu at the bottom will show the correct key), use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.  Press f10 to save the setting and again use the arrow keys to select 'Yes' and hit enter.
I am waiting to hear back from you.

  • My iPod 5th gen touch won't turn on after running out of battery and then being charged for several hours

I was using my ipod touch 5th gen, when it ran out of battery. I wasn't able to charge it all night because the lighting adapter plug broke, and so this battery sign and the lighting charger sign kept popping up telling me to charge it. It ran like that all night and when I woke up it wouldn't turn on at all. I tried plugging it into a few different computers to charge it, and after several hours it still won't turn on. I tried plugging it into my computer with iTunes up, but it still would not charge and my computer would not recognize that it was there. Anyone want to give me some tips?
    Thanks

  • HT201210 my phone won't turn on after trying to restore it with iTunes what do i do??!! also it just has the blue music app with an arrow and power cord on it. HELP!

My phone will NOT turn back on after trying to restore it with itunes. It just has the blue music app with an arrow & the usb side of the power cord on it.
    Help me please!!

    Hello Sean,
It sounds like you are constantly needing to restore your phone because it keeps going into recovery mode. Usually putting a device into recovery mode and restoring it can help isolate an issue to your iPhone hardware if an issue persists afterwards. I would try manually putting it into recovery mode and restoring it 1 more time:
If you can't update or restore your iOS device

If that does not resolve it the symptoms indicate to me that it is a hardware issue causing this to happen and would seek service for it:

  • Dv9000 Adapter plug glows but laptop won't turn on - after I replaced motherboard

So I tried installing a replacement motherboard myself on my dv9700. Apparently I'm not the only one with this problem. Anyhoo, I got the old one out after much stress and got the new one hooked up to the power and connected all the cables and tried to get a BIOS boot. The lights, fan, and optical drive all came on for a second, then shut off, then came back on but no BIOS, so I manually shut it off after a half minute or so. Then I thought getting the OS drive connected might do the trick. No such luck - in fact now the computer won't power. I tried putting the old motherboard back - same luck. My IT friend came over and noted (and I know this sounds idiotic on my part) that I hadn't swapped the CPU and the heat sink onto the new motherboard. We moved them onto the new motherboard but still no joy. The adapter glows at the connection but obviously the power is not flowing to the rest of the laptop. I know I'm a bit hardheaded to try to attempt this myself but what's done is done. I'm wondering if any of you kind non-flaming souls could tell me what the problem might be. My IT buddy thinks that there might be a short somewhere but that he downplayed my worst fears that I fried the new motherboard since the computer was only on for seconds at a time.
Please help if you can with any ideas of what the cause might be - I'm probably taking it to another repair shop in a day or two but I'd like to be armed with some ideas. Thanks!

No flames but it is not looking good. I have done dv6000 and dv9000 motherboards and I rank them as about the hardest laptop repairs I have done. Not for the newbie. Trying to power on a board with no CPU and fan in place should not have fried it in and of itself but the fact that you did that makes me question the entire technique you used. One screw in the wrong place or one touch at the wrong time CAN fry it.

  • My laptop won't turn on after loud pop HELP!!

I'm in the process of moving so I connected my laptop somewhere new on Sunday. I connected the laptop to a surge protector then proceeded to connect the modem to the laptop. The problem happened when I connected the modem to an extension cord, it made a loud POP noise. When I went to turn on the computer, it wouldnt turn on. I tried then turning the laptop with it's battery but still nothing. My Best Buy warranty just happned to expire on me on August and it was too expensive to put it back on. My question is, is there hope for my laptop? it's only 2 years old, an HP Pavillion dv6000. I appreciate any help, I want to know what should I expect before going to Best Buy.
Also, when the battery is inside and it's connected, the light turns on like normal, only that the back gets hot. I appreciate ANY help.

Sounds like the onboard power supply is bad. That may requie the system board be replace.

  • PB 1400 won't turn on after adding a RAM card

I just bought a 16MB RAM card for my old PowerBook 1400cs/133 running OS 8.5. I made sure when I bought it that it was compatible, and I followed all the instructions in the PowerBook manual to install it. But, after I put in the card, put the keyboard and everything back where it belonged, popped the battery back in, and plugged the computer back in, it wouldn't start. Pressing the start button or the reset button in the back makes a clicking noise kind of like it's going to start, but the "bing" that's supposed to come next never happens, and the computer doesn't turn on. Once I remove the extra RAM, the computer works fine again. What's going on here?

Unless we are using different terminologies only, I find your statement about two user-accessible slots puzzling. Apple's literature refers to 'factory' and 'customer' slots, but this is not specially illuminating for users. There is a base of factory-installed RAM (12 or 16MB, depending on model), and a single customer-accessible slot for up to 48MB of additional RAM. For all practical purposes the factory-installed RAM is not augmentable. Most often a second expansion card is piggy-backed onto a first in the customer slot. Although there are a very few 48MB cards in existence, RAM is usually maximized with 24+24 or 32+16MB.
I suspect that, if resetting the Power Manager is not effective in this case, and you have admirably described that process in this forum many times, ML is faced with either an unsuitable (Apple's specification is TSOP low-profile RAM chips rated at 70ns or faster) expansion card, perhaps as described here, or a defective card, or a defective socket on the existing card.

  • My iphone 5s won't turn on after i try the step with pressing the home button and sleep button at same time. Please, help me!

    Guys, i have a problem!
My iphone 5s was at charging and when i checked him, he had a black screen... I saw some answer about this problem but doesn't work. That step with pressing home button and sleep button at the same time doesn't work and i don't know what else to do. Please, i need your help! Thank You!

You don't just press the buttons at the same time, you have to hold them down together until you see the Apple logo. This can take 15-30 seconds. If it does not work the first time, connect the device to the charger and try again.

  • Hp laptop won't turn on at all.

I have no idea what model it is. Where do I find this in the machine.
The laptop won't turn on. I have changed the fuse in the plug but the wires are not getting warm.
I have no idea. When the battery is in and I try to turn it on the orange light flashes. However when I take the battery out and plug in to the wall and try to turn it on nothing. No light.

    Hi @Jillrich ,
Thank you for visiting the HP Support Forums and Welcome. I have read about your HP Notebook and getting a blank screen on startup. Try performing a hard reset.
When performing a hard reset please note remove any and all USB devices. Disconnect all non-essential devices.

  • Laptop won't turn on

I was trying to do a secure delete on my Apple, but I couldn't figure out how. So I just started throwing everything in the trash.
Now my laptop won't turn on when I press the power button. Should I get an Apple restore disc?
What should I do? How do I fix this problem???

    Hi,
    Welcome to Apple Discussions
One easy way of secure deleting, or deleting in general (use mostly when delete a large number of files) is to put all the files in one folder (just create a random folder in Finder) > Press Control (ctrl) and click on the folder > Go down to move to Trash (in the popup menu) > Go to Finder > Secure Empty or Empty Trash.
Did you delete the files or did it just shut off? What exactly were you deleting? Languages, fonts; anything like that? You may want to look at Knowledge Base Document #106214 on Troubleshooting Startup Issues. Do you get any sounds or flashes of light (from the "sleep" light)? You may want to try booting up in Safe Mode (Knowledge Base Document #107393 on How to Startup In Safe Mode), or with the install discs.

  • My iPod touch 5th gen won't turn on after updating to iOS 8 using the computer, help!?

On my computer (using windows) I tried to update my iPod touch 5th gen to iOS 8 using iTunes, using this website http://www.gottabemobile.com/2014/09/17/the-secret-to-skipping-long-ios-8-downlo ads-and-problems/ as a guide.
It kept coming up with this error http://support.apple.com/en-us/HT201442 after the update.
Now my iPod won't turn on and it shows the charger with the lightening with an arrow above it pointing to the iTunes logo.
So i plugged it into iTunes but i don't know what i'm supposed to do, any help?

    Try:
    - iOS: Not responding or does not turn on
    - Also try DFU mode after try recovery mode

    - If not successful and you can't fully turn the iOS device fully off, let the battery fully drain. After charging for an least an hour try the above again.
    - If still not successful that usually indicates a hardware problem and an appointment at the Genius Bar of an Apple store is in order.

  • MacBook Pro 15" won't turn on after a shut down.

My MacBook Pro 15" late 2008 mavericks won't turn on after a shut down. Tried SMC reset, plugged and unplugged charger multiple times as well as installing the battery. It has started that after a while I have replaced my old battery with a new one, upgraded to Mavericks and increased my memory to 4GB. In the beginning after I would install every time the battery ,it' would turn on after 8-10 tries. Today it's completely unresponsive . Tested different outlets, with and without battery, nothing worked. I also heard that some other people have this issue once they have updated their operating system from  10.5.8 to Mavericks. Is that the problem.? Has anyone found a solution to this?
