Dv7-2173ca expansion base

Hi,
does anyone know which expansion base is compatable with the DV7-2173ca? Thanks.

Hi,
Based on the following specs, it does not have any docking port therefore no option. Machine only has USB ports and I can't find any docking station uses Express card slot.

  • DV7 1134us XB4 expansion base part / sku # ? Which one?

I have a Hp dv7 1134us laptop and i want to add an expansion base to this model. In looking around i see 2 sku listed for the same item so I am wondering which one is the correct one for my model number? I am seeing 258000534-01 (kg461aa) AND 258000681-01 (481018-001 / 481018001). They both look the same with the same features. Thanks, Greg

I believe all the XB4's would work on your DV7, I have two XB4's one connected to a DV7-2XXX Customized laptop and another to a DV7-3079.
But it's my understanding that HP is no longer selling the XB4 Notebook Media Docking Station.
Though you might be able to find one on Ebay or Amazon or elsewhere.
It's also my understanding that the current docking stations HP is selling at HPshopping.com use USB for their interface to your notebook and that the current docking stations require a separate power supply instead of using your Notebooks power supply connected to the XB4 and then using the DV7's Expansion port to connect to the XB4.
The manual I saw for your DV7-1134us does state that it has the Expansion port 3 connector.

  • Expansion base xb3000 - compatible with new HP laptops?

    Good morning all!
I am currently using a DV8305 laptop connected to a xb3000 expansion base.  It is a great set up!  I would like to get a new laptop (something in the DV7 range) and use it with my old xb3000. The problem is, none of the new HP laptops are listed in the online compatibility list (and I dont want to buy a new expansion base.)  The xb3000 appears to have an Expansion Port 3 connector (as do selected HP laptops), so it should work.... or would it?
Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!
    Thanks,
    Ian

I am using the xb3000 with my new DV7-1135NR and it works perfectly. I bought an xb 3000 power supply on Ebay for about $15.00 and noted that the output is 18.5v and 4.9amps. The power supply for my DV7-1135NR is 18.5V and 4.9 amps. Electronics experts tell me that the difference is completely negilble and harmless.
Suggest you check your laptop power supply against the above, and make sure you have or acquire one with the base expansion port on the left side of the laptop.
Mine is working perfectly, charges my laptop and powers it during operation. No problems whatsoever. All of the features of the xb3000 (i.e. usb ports, volume control, power switch, etc) are active and completely functional.
I might add that HP tech support (if you can call it that!!) kept me on chat and subsequently on the phone for 30 minutes before advising me that my laptop was NOT compatible with the xb3000. Further, they could NOT identify the drive that is compatible with the drive bay on the xb3000. Just for info, HP sells an adapter for $19.00 that allows HP mini drives to be used in the xb3000. The mini drives are sold direct on the HP website is the adapter and they are very reasonably priced. As a matter of fact, priced much better than the one dimensional and proprietary drives originally sold for the xb3000.
Well, lots of info here. Hope this helps. Good luck and best regards,

  • Expansion base USB ports & hard drive no longer recognized

I have an HP dv5000 laptop and the xb2000 expansion base with a built-in hard drive in the base.  I routinely undock the laptop while it's running and plug it back in again and have no problems.  Yesterday, I undocked as usual, but then shut the laptop down while it was undocked.  Then I put it back in the expansion base and booted up again.  The problem is that now I can no longer see the hard drive in the expansion base and the USB ports for the expansion base will also not work.
The really sad part is that this is a new expansion base because the same thing happend about a month ago, but I thought it was a hardware problem and just bought a new base.
Can anyone please help me get my laptop to see the hard drive in the base and also get the USB ports working again as well?
    Thanks,

I tried to post a reply on a computer with Internet Explorer 8 RC1.  My CPU would always be 100% busy as soon as I hit the Reply button.
I complained to HP Support and was told that this forum is not compatible with IE 8.  So, I am now on a computer with IE 7.  UPDATE:  I just executed C:\WINDOWS\ie8\spuninst\spuninst.exe and my HP Notebook reverted  back to IE 7 without any problems so far.  I am now able to edit this reply (without my CPU being 100% busy)!
I had exactly the same problem with all USB Ports and the optional 160GB USB Hard Drive being nonfunctional, immediately after Microsoft
Update (Custom) finished installing recommended driver "Cypress - Other hardware - HX2LP Kit (3.03.0000.2).
The device appeared in Device Manager, under Universal Serial Bus Controllers, as "HX2LP Kit (3.03.0000.2)".  I uninstalled the device but
after a restart it was there again.
I executed System Restore to a date before the Cypress drivers were downloaded and installed.
All xb2000 USB Ports, the USB Hard Drive and Sound now work as before.  I have been using a mouse and printer plugged into the xb2000 today.  Also,
I completed a Windows Live OneCare, complete backup, to the Hard Drive in the xb2000 base, today.
The one thing that I hate about my xb2000 is that the Hard Drive keeps spinning as long as the Hard Drive Power Adaptor is connected to
the base.  I use "Safely Remove Hardware" on the task bar to safely remove the USB drive and then disconnect the Power Adaptor from the base.  If I leave the disk spinning, after a few minutes I get a very loud clicking sound which sounds like something inside the drive is beating on the hard drive chassis.  Maybe it is the arm which holds the heads.  Complaints to HP have not resulted in a solution to these aggravations.

  • Expansion base and dock stations

i love expansion base and my dock station  xb3000, the speakers are great, is fantastic, i bought my last laptop because i could connect with, so i want to know if HP is going to do more expansion base,
two years ago i bought a souchsmart tx2 `1015, onlu because had expansion base
now my old presario is to slow, is getting to old...i need to buy i new one very soon, i would like one  with expansion base,
so i want to know if HP is going to have expansion base in some new model of laptop notebook
my dock station is  a great product
please do not stop to make a good product!

Unfortunately docking stations, like firewire ports and pcmcia slots, are disappearing from laptops other than the very highest end business models. So right now no consumer model has a traditional snap down docking station. The only models that do are the Elitebook, Probook, Zbook lines:

  • Expansion Base USB Ports

I have a Pavilion dv9000 (specifically dv9074cl). The original OS was Windows XP. I have upgraded to Windows 7 (64 bit). I use an HP xb3000 notebook expansion base. I am having trouble with the USB ports on the expansion base. I can not get devices such as my wireless USB device for the mouse and keyboard to connect or my web cam to connect. Do I need an additional driver?

  • Dv8000 w/ xb2000 Expansion Base, Win 7 RC1, and No Sound

I have a HP dv8000 CTO notebook and use a HP xb2000 Notebook Expansion Base.  With a complete new install of Windows 7 RC1 I have had significant problems getting sound to work.
I've finally been able to get the base dv8000 sound to work, but have not been able to get the sound to work via the Exapansion Base.  When the expansion base connector is plugged in  to the notebook, it kills the notebook sound, but does not pass the sound to either the expansion base or the expansion base headphone jack.  I realy don't want to ust use the Expansion Base as a notebook holder, but don't want to not have sound.
Does anyone have a solution or test process to diagnose the issue?

I finally was able to solve this by installing an old service pack, HP SP33443 with Conexant drivers.  It appears to have been updated for Vista and works with and without the Expansion Base xb2000.

  • 2700 Ultra-Slim Expansion Base Tablet Compatibility

Hey guys, I have an HP 2730p Tablet and an HP 2700 Ultra-Slim Expansion Base. I love the base, it makes going from home to work much easier, but when I got to tablet orientation, the secondary monitor output is at the wrong orientation. I have identified the expansion base as the issue and have no idea if there is a simple software setting or tweak I can use to continue using this awesome product.

  • HP xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base compatibility

Is the HP xb3000 Notebook Expansion Base still useable with any current HP notebooks.  I haven't seen the connection port on anythinhg new and I was wondering if it still was useable.  It looks like all of the new expansion bases are USB.  If the expansion base is no longer useable, what video options are avaialble on the current models?  Thanks for the help.

  • XB3000 EXPANSION BASE

I just got a xb3000 and I hooked up the component red green and blue to my HD tv and I can not get it to wor? The touchsmart TX2Z-1000 on the other hand works great with the XB 3000.What drivers do I need? Where can I get this to work for expanding my viewing to the HD TV?
    Thanks

I have the same issue with the HP (Y-RK56A) Cordless Keyboard attached to my HP Expansion Base.
I have had it for about 4 years but recenly purchased a HP 23" monitor - I think the monitor is causing interference to the connection between the HP keyboard and the HP USB Receiver.
I have also tried on several occassions to replace the HP keyboard batteries and after every 6th or 7th attempt can get the keyboard operational for about 20 key strokes then it dies.
Very frustrating - I guess I will just have to buy a seperate USB Keyboard as the HP cordless mouse still communicates with the HP USB Receiver.
This seems to be a common problem with cordless keyboards.

    Hello all!!!
I have a HP DV7-4165dx that has a busted plastic screw retainer for the left hinge on the bottom base of the laptop.I tried to epoxy it back on to the bottom but failed. Was wondering if the HP DV7-3000 series or other series laptop base is interchangeable with this model. They look very very alike.

  • DV7 Docking station

I already have an xb3000 expansion base/docking station that I use with a dv9000 notebook. Can this xb3000 expansion base be used with a newer notebook, i.e. dv7-4054ca?
    Thanks

In the past, I have been pleased with the level and quality of support provided by HP.
I have an issue and went to this page looking for resolution.
OK, So now I'm really confused.
    Here's my issue.
I just bought a new Pavilion dv7 i7 4060 QuadCore and I am quite pleased with the notebook. it performs very wel l, no issues no glitches. This is the first notebook we have bought with a view to replacing the Dells we have be using.
My new  DV4000 docking station has just been delivered by UPS and the box clearly says "Compatible with the following series HP Pavilion  dv7". Clearly, incorrect information is printed on the box your product comes in.
For a variety of reasons, the work I do requires that i dock my notebook. If I cannot dock this notebook, it has no value to me. The "Compatible" docking station becomes nothing more than a very exoensive notebook stand, again, with zero value.
I currently have 6 pieces of HP equipment. i am responsible for the aquisition of Systems and equipment for my business, so  hopefully someone at HP can appreciate this is no small matter.
Any suggestion for resolution would be welcomed.
    Thanks
