Dv7-2180us sound went out?

My computer is running Windows Vista Home Premium 64 bit
I just recently installed some drivers through HP updates and the next morning after i had restart my computer, the sound was just not working?
I tried to system restore back to points i KNEW the sound was working and same thing.
I have tried many reinstallations and updates for the IDT HD Audio CODEC and still no sound, it is horrible.
I also tried rolling the drivers back.
All of the volume settings have been checked and so on.
Im just wondering why i updated and this problem occured? And how do I fix it ???

Same here,
dv2840se, Vista Home Premium 64bit, Conexant 221 sound card inside, about two weeks ago sound disapeared, quick lounch buttons stopped working. Since then, I've tryed everything (literally everything that was suggested in different forums), and still no solution to this issue. Nothing is showing in Device Menager and sound icon has red x over it, on mouse over is says No audio output device installed.
Any help? Please HP... Thanks in advance!

Help! Sound went Out on HDTV and Surround

I have an LG HDTV, Blu-Ray DVD, Surround Sound and Cable Box connected along with a Harmon all in one remote control. Everything was working fine last night and then no sound. The DVD sound works. The TV "test" sound works (but I cannot get the sound to work through the TV speakers if I turn off the surround sound). I have tried plugging and unplugging the HDMI cable. I can't figure it out and need help! Thanks.

Click once on your desktop and then hit F1. When the help window opens type in sound. You should be able to try some of the articles to determine what is causing the issue.

Sound went out for only one song

just like that. it was fine one minute and then i played it again and there was nothing. i checked everything and it is all right. i checked some of my other songs and the audio was fine.
i'm stumped. anyone have an idea?

i must have done something but i can't figure out what. this happened once before and the music magically returned....but it's not happening with this one. grr.

Sounds like the movie didn't finish downloading before the Wi-Fi signal dropping ...
Try re downloading. You won't be charged again.

A line of pixelation went out

It's a brand new iMac and a line of pixelation went out. It looks like it is bleeding from inside of the screen.

This sounds like a possible hardware failure, perhaps the graphics card or the display. If your machine is less than 90 days old or if you have already purchased AppleCare (highly recommended) give AppleCare a call. You can find the number in the owners manual. If you don't have AppleCare or the machine is older than 90 days old then make an appointment at your local Apple Store or AASP and take it in for service.

When you say not getting anything - do you mean no sounds, beeps, etc?
It is possible that your Mac's motherboard or power supply are damaged.

IMac went out and won't come back on

I ask this question on behalf of my father who doens't live in the same town as me. He was at his computer (iMac, 21.5 inch screen, OSX Mountain Lion 10.8.4) during a thunderstorm and it suddenly went out. He said there was a flash of light and then it went out. I told him to unplug it, re-start the power strip then try to turn it on which he did and it wont' come on. HIs land-line telephone is also out but, their carrier is AT&T and the internet is serviced by Time Warner. Does anyone have any idea what might be happening? Hopefully is computer didn't suddenly die. Thanks in advance :-)

HUGE Beep Sound BLASTED out of My Speakers Randomly.

It was pretty scary. I don't know how it happened but randomly while on my MacBook Pro, is just went BEEP at full volume and then disappeared like nothing happened. Has anyone ever had this HUGE annoying BEEP? It lasts about 2 seconds. It hurts cause it's so loud to the ears and it beeped at full volume. Ouch. By the way, the sound came out of the MacBook Pro. So they are originals from apple. Not external.

Other possiblility is if you held down power button for a while you may have reset the PMU (power management unit?)

Panic! My G5 just died (fuse went out at my office and now it wount start)

A fuse just went out in my office so all the power went out including the power to my G5!
Now when the power is back on the G5 refuses to start, when I push the on button I just here a clicking sound and then nothing and the light by the button goes on as long as i push the button.
Is my G5 toast or is there a fuse in the computer that has been blown?

Well - you could try a PMU/SMU reset. Can't remember if your G5 has a PMU button - but the process in detail and a few more suggestions here

Power went out and my Imac won't reboot

So I was working on my Imac i bought last year and the power went down a few times.
After the first time i rebooted it and it worked normally.
so then the power went out again and i waited with rebooting till the power problem was solved.
When i tried to turn it on again, It played the sound of starting up and it shows the white screen with the logo and the swirly rotating thingy
but then a gray loading bar comes and it takes about 15 minutes for the bar to be full.
then he just shuts down again.
Tried to turn it on several times. Same thing keeps happening.
Tried to get the power cord out and stuff.
not working.
Please help me.

When I looked in the trash, I saw two things labled "iTunes library extras", and "iTunes library genius". When I tried opening them, it said that I needed to open them with an application, and that I needed to chose one. I chose iTunes. When I tried double clicking on "iTunes library extras" after this, all it did was open up iTunes. Nothing else. Someone please help me because I had a lot of songs that I liked, and recently downloaded. And it will be a pain to get them all back if no one can help me.

Are the files still physically on your HD?
[User]/Music/iTunes/Media/Music is the default location. Unless you suddenly have a bunch of new "free space" on your hard drive, they're still where they were, you just need to create a new library file.

Which TV do you have.
You may wish to try the following:
Press and hold the menu and the up button simultaneously on the remote for six seconds, the Apple TV should then begin to cycle through the various resolutions available to it at 20 second intervals.. If you see a picture appear up on your screen, use the remote to scroll down to the OK option and select it.
