Hi
Regarding the question:
1) the notebook supports the Mobile Intel GL960 Express Chipset. The motherboard supports an SATA HDD controller only and RAID is not available!!!
In BIOS you can change the SATA controller mode to AHCI or compatible mode. Compatible mode allows you to install an windows OS without an installation or SATA driver!
2) Ulead DVD MovieFactory is an 3rd party software. This means that you cannot download this software. such software is only a part of the Toshiba image (recovery) which is preinstalled on the Toshiba notebook.
All other applications (Toshiba DVD Player, webcam software, Face Recognition) can be downloaded from the Toshiba European driver page.

  • Dumb question. what on earth does the fios tv button do?

what on earth does the fios tv button do?
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

When you are watching a live TV show or VOD, pretty much the same thing as the OK button, it displays the program banner at the bottom of the screen.
When you are watching a recorded program on the DVR however, it will suspend whatever you are watching and switch to the live TV channel that you were last watching.(works on the DVR itself, I have no idea what it does in the multi-room environment as I do not have that service)
It does not do any of the other things that hitting the OK button does as far as I know (like navigating the Menu, etc).
That is all I know about the FiOS TV button

  • Quick question...  does safari have add-ons or plug ins?

I've been Safari and firefox intermittently for the past week or so, and I've definitely noticed that Safari is faster than firefox most of the time, which I really like. And I like how links to some major websites are built across the top below the address bar, too. I also like how it's streamlined and condensed.
However, I like firefox, too... namely because of all the add-ons and plug ins, such as foxytunes, download helper, the toolbars for yahoo and google (those are the four I have because those are the only ones I use).
So, does Safari have plug-ins, or add-ons available, akin to firefox, or the app store (that I've heard about) for the i-phone? Because, if so, (if I could get those four plug-ins, or equivalents) that would be enough to make me do a complete switch.

Hi and welcome to the Apple discussion forum!
Yes Safari do use plugins as well as firefox, i guess that you already got the Flash plugin installed.
But you find some other available plugins at this site as well, that you maybe not have installed yet.
    http://www.apple.com/safari/download/plugins.html <<
And regarding the Appstore that has really nothing to do with Safari though, the appstore is a
place where you can Buy/Download software for your iPhone. Cheers, J~G

  • What Net Capabilities Does Java Have?

I have learned two other programming languages before learning Java and now I have learned a lot of the syntax of Java. I need to know if this is possible:
Is there a way for me to get an HTML document from the internet from a specified URL on an HTTP server? If this is possible, can I search through it, possibly with FileReader? If Java does have a function that I could use to do this could someone please tell me what it is and what class it's from?
    thanks,
    lateralus

The URL class will be helpful. It is described here:
    http://java.sun.com/javase/6/docs/api/java/net/URL.html
URL's openStream() method might be a good place to start. There is an example of
its use at "The Java Developers Almanac 1.4" here:
    http://www.exampledepot.com/egs/java.net/ReadFromURL.html?l=rel
And there is lots on Networking in Sun's Tutorial:
    http://java.sun.com/docs/books/tutorial/networking/index.html
These three locations could well serve as your first port of call with many "Is there a
    way..." type questions.

  • HT201356 What e-mail does Apple have?

Help! I have stolen my iPhone 6 16GB in Ukraine. I need to write an Apple Support Stuff. Phone is turned off. iCloud isn't working because phone is not turned.

Report your stolen iPhone to the local authorities and to your wireless provider.
Apple does not maintain a database of stolen iPhones, nor will Apple help
you locate your iPhone. If your iPhone is turned off, it will not issue a signal
that can be tracked by Find My iPhone. You did have Find My iPhone turned on,
didn't you? And used a passcode to lock the iPhone?

  • What SatNav functions does Maps have in offline mo...

    Hi,
I have an N95 with Maps 2.0. I don't have a data plan so I dont want to run it in A-GPS mode. I also dont have nor want to buy the Drive licence.
I am able to create routes and preview them, which gives directions like a SatNav in the form of signs in the top corner, but without voice navigation (I understand you have to buy the licence for voice nav). However, when I tried to drive the route, the route plan disappeared. It kept up with my positioning well, but did not show the route nor give me any directions. Should it still be able to navigate and give non-verbal directions in offline mode and without the Drive licence?
    Any help would be appreciated.
    Cheers
    Jamie
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

So if I get it right, you can either:
    - "show route" and see the route on the map
    OR
    - show "my position" and see the red dot that is your satelite tracked position on the map
But it is impossible to have both the route and the tracked position showing on the map together.
    Is that it?

  • HT4623 what if iphone does not have the software update category

  • What's it doing?

Having acquired a new PC with Windows 7, I have installed Photoshop Elements 9. I click the short cut and off it goes. BUT what it is doing I have no idea, other than it takes all the CPU so that anything else, e.g. Outlook, is crippled. It wouldn't be as annoying if I knew what it was doing, but there is no info at all other than the HardDisc light on the PC flashing like mad. I would like to ask Adobe "What's it doing?" but that too seems impossible, or at least is expensive. I do think it is a perfectly reasonable to expect to be informed, by the software, about what its doing, and why, so that I can either live with it or make some change to, e.g., set up/preferences to STOP or postpone or tailor whatever it is doing.
At the moment I am seriously contemplating the ultimate solution - Uninstall the thing. If the problem is actually ME, i.e. 'finger trouble', then I apologise but still ask that someone takes pity on me and offers a constructive suggestion. If, as I suspect, the problem is with the software itslef, or more accurately its writers, then maybe someone in Adobe could be kind enough to answer the question. John

Thanks. Actually in my version its Media-Analysis within Preferences; I find no menu called Performance.
And, although this may help, I’d still like to know ‘What its doing’ which, having launched it, it cripples every other application running.
Do you know if there is any way of raising the question with Adobe? It seems that Adobe aren’t interested at all in having any contact from its customers other than to sell them something new. In terms of ‘service’ their way of working is poor, in my view. I appreciate that they don’t want 1000s of email about everyday usability/finger-trouble type issues; and I agree that a user experience group can add real value; but ultimately they, Adobe, should still provide a reasonable access point for my type of “Why is it crippling my PC?” type of question – a question I think they should want to know about.
I apologise for dumping on you – it’s the result of two situations, a) my field of knowledge and experience is in IT Service Management, so I kind of know what is and is not good practice around service delivery and support, and b) Adobe are but one of a growing number of providers who consider a set of FAQs and a User Forum as sufficient ‘support’ for customers.
    Here endeth the soap-box complaint.

Have you tried the methods described here in this link: Apple ID: All about Apple ID security questions  ?
If that is impossible for some reason, you need to contact Apple and ask them to help you to reset them, see this webpage on how to contact Apple Support in your country: There are either telephone umbers given or an email form:

  • HELP I'm getting a blinking folder with a question mark at start up? Have been trying to fix this for 3 hours and I dont want to lose all my files by resetting it completely!!

I currently have Mavericks but my original OS X disk that I have I'm pretty sure is Mac OS X 10.6.6. I'm not great with computers but am usually able to fix problems I have had with mine in the past. I have reinstalled and reset my computer to factory settings before, but I am locked out of my computer completely & can't get to my files to save them & I really dont want to lose them. I was in Safari earlier opening a file, the page started to not respond & froze up my whole desktop so I did a hard shutdown & restarted my computer. I haven't been able to get back into my account ever since. If my only choice is to lose my files & reinstall everything, I need detailed instructions because I actually attempted to do this at first, out of desperation to fix my computer & the installer was asking me to select what disk I wanted to reinstall lion to yet I dont have a disk for that nor do I know what it exactly is asking of me? Please help

Question (?) Mark, Blinking Folder, or Gray Screen at Startup
These are related but not identical issues. Their causes are outlined in Intel-based Mac- Startup sequence and error codes, symbols. Solutions may be found in:
A flashing question mark or globe appears when you start your Mac
Mac OS X- Gray screen appears during startup
In most cases the problems may be caused by one or more of these:
    a. Problem with the computer's PRAM - See Resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM.
    b. Boot drive's directory has been corrupted - Repair with Disk Utility.
    c. Critical system files are damaged or deleted - Reinstall OS X.
    d. The disk drive is physically non-functional - Replace the hard drive.
Note that the information I have provided is what Apple recommends, If other users suggest different solutions than found here, then be sure what they recommend does not impact on your warranty, if any, or ability to get continuing Apple service.
Please don't start removing drives or changing cables unless you know what you are doing and have exhausted other non-invasive alternatives outlined here. If you perform any work yourself that is unapproved by Apple, then you will void any warranty you may have and lose all further Apple Support.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions
Boot from your Snow Leopard Installer disc. After the installer loads select your language and click on the Continue button. When the menu bar appears select Disk Utility from the Utilities menu. After DU loads select your hard drive entry (mfgr.'s ID and drive size) from the the left side list.  In the DU status area you will see an entry for the S.M.A.R.T. status of the hard drive.  If it does not say "Verified" then the hard drive is failing or failed. (SMART status is not reported on external Firewire or USB drives.) If the drive is "Verified" then select your OS X volume from the list on the left (sub-entry below the drive entry,) click on the First Aid tab, then click on the Repair Disk button. If DU reports any errors that have been fixed, then re-run Repair Disk until no errors are reported. If no errors are reported click on the Repair Permissions button. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the installer.
If DU reports errors it cannot fix, then you will need Disk Warrior and/or Tech Tool Pro to repair the drive. If you don't have either of them or if neither of them can fix the drive, then you will need to reformat the drive and reinstall OS X.
The main difference if you are using Lion or Mountain Lion is that you must first boot from the Recovery HD. Simply boot from the Recovery HD to perform the above.
Reinstall Snow Leopard Without Erasing The drive
    2. Reinstall Snow Leopard
If the drive is OK then quit DU and return to the installer.  Proceed with reinstalling OS X.  Note that the Snow Leopard installer will not erase your drive or disturb your files.  After installing a fresh copy of OS X the installer will move your Home folder, third-party applications, support items, and network preferences into the newly installed system.
Download and install Mac OS X 10.6.8 Update Combo v1.1.
Reinstalling Lion/Mountain Lion Without Erasing The Drive
Boot to the Recovery HD: Restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the COMMAND and R keys until the menu screen appears. Alternatively, restart the computer and after the chime press and hold down the OPTION key until the boot manager screen appears. Select the Recovery HD and click on the downward pointing arrow button.
Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions: Upon startup select Disk Utility from the main menu. Repair the Hard Drive and Permissions as follows.
When the recovery menu appears select Disk Utility. Wait until the operation completes, then quit DU and return to the main menu.
Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion: Select Reinstall Lion/Mountain Lion and click on the Continue button.
Note: You will need an active Internet connection. I suggest using Ethernet if possible because it is three times faster than wireless.

  • I have just downloaded a free trial but now can't see the install anywhere on my mac? It's not in launchpad or finder? Does anyone have any ideas?

I have downloaded the free trial and now can't find it. Can anyone help? I'm sure it'll be something simple but I don't know what I'm doing!

Have you looked in the downloads folder?
It's necessary to open the download package and then start the installation from there.

  • What firewire chipset is used in the Mini?

    Hi,
Does anyone know what Firewire chipset is used in the current Mac Mini? Or if any of the previous versions used a TI (Texas Instruments) firewire chipset?
I want to drive some digital audio gear from a Mac Mini via Firewire, and there appear to be notorious compatibility problems with non-TI chipsets, especially the Agere/Lucent ones.
    Thanks for any assistance,
    Simon

The answer is unfortunately Lucent - I just checked one in my nearest Apple store, by doing a Command+S on boot.
Mac Mini (Core 2, Jan 2009):
'FireWire (OHCI) Lucent ID 5811 built-in now active, GUI 0022241fffeff3b7e6; max speed s400.'
    Mac Mini (PPC, old):
'FireWire (OHCI) Apple ID 31 built-in now active, GUID 001451fffe0a2400; max speed s400.'
This is actually an Apple 'Intrepid' and uses a Lucent PHY, according to the Apple PHYTool 2.9
My old (Lucent chipset) PPC Mini exhibits big problems working with my FireWire audio interface (TI chipset, TC Electronic Konnekt 24D), whilst my old (TI chipset) MacBook Pro works fine.
It looks like I'll have to switch to a PC (e.g. Mini-ITX) for this application.
    Regards,
    Simon

  • What is the firewire chipset in the current Mac minis?

I am considering purchasing a Mac mini for mobile audio use.
Many audio interfaces are picky about FireWire chipsets.
Can anyone confirm what exact FireWire chipset they are shipping with?
I'm particularly interested in the Mac mini with the 2.6GHz Quad-Core Intel Core i7.

    The iFixit teardown
    http://www.ifixit.com/Teardown/Mac+Mini+Late+2012+Teardown/11262/2
lists several chips but does not list any functions for some.
    It appear that
    LSI L-FW643E-2
    is the FW chip
    http://www.lsi.com/downloads/Public/1394%20Products/FW643E/LSI-PB_2pg_FW643E_fn. pdf
    It includes:
The LSI FW643E is a second-
    generation 1394b Open Host
    Controller Interface (OHCI)
