Dv7-3165dx blu ray issues for past month cant get it to work?

I have been trying to troubleshoot this problem 4 about a month now. When I put a bluray dvd the screen reads "no disk in drive". This message is the same response i get with diffrent players, hp mediasmart, cyberlink power dvd 10, arcsoft, and also with img burn. & a couple of others. I also chaged my drive letters in disk management, because my optical drive originaly was set to the letter F: Now its letter E: , So, my drive letters are, (C computer (D recovery (E optical (F): hp tools. I also ran the microsoft fix it. reads same message no disk in drive. I restored my computer, I updated my mediasmart software, also recoverd it from advance out of the box state, same thing I ran the revo program & reinstalled the mediasmart 3.1, no luck. I also did the regedit troublesoot recommended by microsoft. only to find that I dont have any higher or lower filters to delete. so I closed that up. I ran the cyberlink bluray 3D advisor and it passed, when i run the fix it tool by mats, it reads , disk in drve not found . drive has error but drive is ok, I also tried diskpart by command prompt & it reads no media in drive E: drive not ready. also uninstalled by devise manager no help there. reseated my drive by physically removing thr drive as instructed to the tee, no luck. My warranty is up but my pc has been sent back to hp twice when under warranty. so if they just replaced dvd drive in november does that mean i get warrenty on my drive for a year on the drive itself, imean if we cant troublshoot this problem ? HP services has been great to me and the forums awsome, I really hope we can solve this problem, THANKS A MILLION.

You have done all the trouble shooting steps possible, sounds like the present one has failed.
I don't know where you are from, but this one will work.

The face plate and rear mount are removed from your old one and used on the new drive. If you can try to find a Panasonic drive, but Samsung is OK.

  • HP MediaSmart DVD software and major Blu-ray issues

In September 2010, I bought an HP Pavilion Elite HPE 250-f desktop computer (running Windows 7). This computer was advertised as having a Blu-ray DVD player, as well as players for regular DVDs and CDs. From September 2010 to October 2014, I successfully played regular DVDs and CDs. But in October 2014, for the first time, I needed to view a Blu-ray DVD. Specifically, I needed to view the "Divergent" Blu-ray.
When I tried to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray (which was made in 2014), the HP MediaSmart DVD software (version 3.1.1.3317) and the Windows Media Player detected the Blu-ray but were not able to play the Blu-ray.
Next, I downloaded the Media Player Codec Pack, http://download.cnet.com/Media-Player-Codec-Pack/3000-13632_4-10749065.html. This Codec Pack was supposed to help Windows Media Player play the Blu-ray. That did not work.
I then downloaded Cyberlink PowerDVD 14, which played the Blu-ray for only about 7 seconds before crashing.
I downloaded TotalMedia Theatre version 6.0.1.123. However, this software did not even detect the Blu-ray.
Recently, I decided to revisit this issue. I installed the most advanced version of HP MediaSmart DVD. I installed HP TouchSmart DVD, version 4.1.2.5122.
TouchSmart flawlessly played disk 1 of the 2-disk "Star Trek" Blu-ray set (made in 2009). However, TouchSmart was not able to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray at all. After failing to play the "Divergent" Blu-ray, TouchSmart attempted to play disk 2 of the "Star Trek" Blu-ray set. TouchSmart played disk 2 with poor video.
Next, for some strange reason, TouchSmart became totally inaccessible. I could not start TouchSmart. I rebooted the computer. TouchSmart was then able to play the "Divergent" regular DVD, but was unable to play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays at all.
I did a system restore to the point just after the installation of TouchSmart. TouchSmart played regular DVDs well, but still could not play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays at all.
Next, I got rid of TouchSmart and installed HP MediaSmart DVD, version 4.1.4229 (sp49489.exe). MediaSmart 4.1.4229 flawlessly played the "Speed" Blu-ray (made in 2006). However, MediaSmart 4.1.4229 failed to play either of the "Star Trek" Blu-rays. And after failing to play the "Star Trek" Blu-rays, MediaSmart 4.1.4229 played "Speed" with poor video.
So, it appears that any specific version of HP MediaSmart DVD software will play old Blu-rays successfully, and will then subsequently fail to play more advanced, more recent Blu-rays. After that version fails to play the more advanced Blu-rays, that version will play the old Blu-rays, not as flawlessly as before, but rather with poor video quality or not at all.
I have read many threads on the HP forums and on other forums about people having trouble playing Blu-ray DVDs on a wide variety of HP computers. I went back to the specifications of my HP computer, and I found the following disclaimer about that computer's Blu-ray capabilities:
As Blu-Ray is a new format containing new technologies, certain disc, digital connection, compatibility and/or performance issues may arise, and do not constitute defects in the product. Flawless playback on all systems is not guaranteed. In order for some Blu-ray titles to play, they may require a DVI or HDMI digital connection and your display may require HDCP support. HD-DVD movies cannot be played on this Desktop PC. Some HD DVD and Blu-ray advanced features may not be supported. CPU power is dedicated to support HD DVD and Blu-ray playback functions. It is recommended that you close all other applications before and during HD DVD and Blu-ray playback. HD DVD and Blu-ray movies will only play through the HD DVD and Blu-ray player software. Advanced Access Content System (AACS) keys are integrated into your PC for copy protection purposes. Occasional renewal of the AACS key is required, and easily done by connecting to the internet.
I believe that I have gone way above and beyond ordinary diligence, to try to get my computer to play Blu-ray DVDs. The disclaimer states that certain issues may arise and that flawless Blu-ray playback is not guaranteed for all systems. But certainly my frustrating experiences, and the frustrating experiences of others, go way beyond the leeway given by HP's disclaimer, do they not? Has anyone thought about the possibility of a class-action lawsuit against HP?

In "Device Manager", under "DVD/CD-ROM drives", I see the following:
    hp BDDVDRW CH20L
I click on "hp BDDVDRW CH20L", and I see several tabs.
In the tab marked "Driver", we have the following:
    Driver Provider:   Microsoft
    Driver Date:           6/21/2006
    Driver Version:     6.1.7601.17514
    Digital Signer:      Microsoft Windows
In that same tab, clicking on "Driver Details" gives us the following:
    Driver files:      C:\Windows\system32\DRIVERS\cdrom.sys
    Provider:           Microsoft Corporation
    File version:    6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255)
Copyright:       Microsoft Corporation. All Rights Reserved.
    Digital Signer:   Microsoft Windows
I think that, back in October 2014, when this Blu-ray issue first came up, I updated the driver. That may be why you see the following different versions :
    6.1.7601.17514
    6.1.7600.16385 (win7_rtm.090713-1255)
So, how would I update the firmware? To what version should I update the firmware?

  • Encore CS3 hangs on "Come for Blue-ray stay for Flash"! Leopard 10.5.2...

I just got my new MacPro running Leopard. Installed CS3 Master Collection. I opened Premiere ok, Photoshop, etc...but when I tried Encore it just hangs on the part that says "Come for Blue-ray stay for Flash"!
I tried to make a dvd out of premiere going to encore it just had the beach ball spinning.
Thanks in advance anyone who can help.
    rb.
ps:not sure if this cause an issue but I installed an LG GGW-H20L blue-ray burner(it showed up fine in system profilier as sata device in the 2nd-lower open drive bay...)

    An update.
Encore would not launch with the LG GGW-H20L installed in my brand new MacPro. Once I unplugged it it launched Encore CS3. So I do not recommend this blue-ray burner in OSX Leopard.
I'm wondering if the Pioneer BDR-202 would work with MacPro, Leopard 10.5.2, Encore 3.0.2 update.
If anyone has any info please share!

  • What is the best blue-ray drive for my Mac Pro????

What is the best blue-ray drive for my Mac Pro????
I wanted a BWU-200S but it says windows only i called apple
and all they could tell me was logitech....wouldn't tell me a model
    or anything.
I would really like one that does all the formats and feature that the
    Sony BWU-200S does.
I read that the BWU-200S might work in the mac pro it just only comes with
windows software. If anyone has tried this let me know please i need this soon.

This site makes Mac compatible Blueray drives:
    http://store.fastmac.com/index.php?cPath=10252
The questions to ask them is:
    1. Which applications can be used to burn bluray movies from it?
    2. Which applications can be used to playback commercial bluray from it?
    3. Does it let you burn DVDs from iDVD, iTunes and the Finder as well as CDs and CD-RWs?
    4. Does it support both DVD-R DL and DVD+R DL for burning and playback?
    5. Does it allow for booting from the system installer that shipped with the machine and running the hardware test that shipped with the machine?
    6. Do you get to keep the original optical drive in case you want to troubleshoot if system issues are due to their drive?
Some of these may already be on the website, I just haven't taken the time to look it completely over.

  • Blue-ray reader for lenovo x61s

Hi i am new to the lenovo forum i am looking if someone can help me my question is can i get a blue ray reader or blue ray burner for my lenovo x61s and if so can someone direct me to the correct one that would fit my model Thanks......
    Solved!
    Go to Solution.

Blu-ray playback, if that's what your're interested in, probably won't be that great in the X61.  The X61s low voltage CPU probably doesn't have enough processing power for smooth playback.  The graphics card on the X61s unlike newer integrated GPUs cannot help with the decoding.  It's all left to the CPU, which struggles cause it's getting no help from the GPU.

  • Programming Logic required for pulling the records for past month /week

    Hi All
I need help in the SQL programming logic.
    Oracle Database Version: 10.2.0.3.0
    Requirement
In a data warehouse environment, I need to programme for weekly and monthly automated batch jobs to insert the data from Data_tbl to Reporting_tbl for generating reports. Tables descriptions are given below.
Table1 - Data_tbl (Source table –this table gets updated everyday).
    Record_dt     first_name     last_name
    Table2 - Reporting_tbl_(Target table)
    Cycle_dt     first_name     last_name
    1. Monthly Report
In the SQL Query, I have where clause condition—
    Where Record_dt >=’01-nov-08’ and record_dt<=’30-nov-08’
Using the above condition in development, I am pulling the data from source table for the past month data. This will be repeated every month and it should be automated.
i.e., if I run this report any time in dec 2008, it should pick records of dates from Nov 01st to Nov 30th 2008. if I run this report any time in Jan 2009, it should pick records of dates from Dec 01st to Dec 31st 2008.
Date Values should be assigned for past month. Value of Cycle_dt in target table should be end date of past month like 30-nov-2008, 31-dec-2008.
    2. Weekly Report
In the SQL Query, I have where clause condition—
    Where Record_dt >=’01-dec-08’ and record_dt<=’07-dec-08’
Here week start day is Monday and end day is Sunday.
If I run the report between Dec 08th to Dec 14th , it should pull records of dates from Dec 01st to Dec 07th 2008.
On Dec 15th, it should pick from Dec 08th to Dec 14th.
Value of Cycle_dt in target table should be end date of past week like 07-Dec-2008, 14-Dec-2008.
Please help me with the logics for both Monthly and Weekly reports.
    Thanks

    Hi,
For the monthly report, instead of
    Where Record_dt >=’01-nov-08’ and record_dt<=’30-nov-08’say:
    Where   Record_dt >= TRUNC (ADD_MONTHS (SYSDATE, -1), 'MM')
and     record_dt <  TRUNC (SYSDATE, 'MM')SYSDATE is the current DATE.
TRUNC (SYSDATE, 'MM') is the beginning of the current month. (Notice the condition above is less than this date, not equal to it.)
ADD_MONTHS (STSDATE, -1) is a date exactly one month ago, therefore it is in the previous month.
For the weekly report, instead of:
    Where Record_dt >=’01-dec-08’ and record_dt<=’07-dec-08’say
    Where   Record_dt >= TRUNC (SYSDATE - 7, 'IW')
and     record_dt <  TRUNC (SYSDATE, 'IW')TRUNC (dt, 'IW') is the beginning of the ISO week (Monday-Sunday) that contains dt. Again, notice the end condition is strictly less than the beginning of the current week.

  • Mac mini (Mid 2010), Mac OS X (10.6.8), Blu-Ray Software for OS X

I recently put together an internal LG Blu-Ray Rewriter into an external enclosure.
    Have tested the following disc: CD-ROM/Audio CD/DVD-ROM/DVD-RAM (4.7 & 9.4 GB).
Have NOT test the following disc: BD-R/BD-RE/Blu-Ray movie (waiting for "The Avengers" disc).
Question: Why does NOT Apple have a program/app for the OS? These disc (Blu-Ray) have been out for a number of years.
Apple provides a DVD Player for the OS!
I have found a program/app from a third-party (http://www.macblurayplayer.com/), but this app requires an internet connection to work.
I would rather NOT have to be connected to the internet just to watch a Blu-Ray movie!
Thank You for your time, H & J

As I recall they signed up in 2005 but never implemented blu-ray authoring because of the extra charges.
Yup, that's what Steve Jobs meant by "a bag of hurt". There's multiple owners of different parts of what makes Blu-ray work who all want their individual licensing fees. The owners of these technologies were at one time trying to come up with a unified, much cheaper fee to simplify things. I don't know if they ever did.
For the same reason Roxio adds it as a separate plug-in so they don't have to pay the Blu-Ray Consortium for every sale of Toast, just the plug-in.
Also, "yup". Toast Titanium Pro used to come with the plugin as part of the package, but in version 11, it doesn't matter which version of Toast you buy, you have to purchase the Blu-ray plugin separately.

  • Age not getting updated for past months

    Hi all,
I have loaded the cube 0PA_C01 for HR data regarding Personal Administration.
Since I have loaded the cube in April, therefore in the cube when I see I get the correct Age of an employee for April. But for March,Feb and Jan I am not getting the Age as it is not getting updated.I checked the update rule 0HR_PA_0 and 0HR_PA_1,according to me it calculates the age based on system date.
The data in my cube looks as below:
    AGE             CALMONTH                   HEADCOUNT
                     012006                         2679
                      022006                         2694
                      032006                         2694
    15                042006                            1
    20                042006                            1
    and so on.
Could you please suggest how to get the Age for past months?
    Thanks in advance.
    Best Regards,
    Yogesh

Is the update rule for age,a customized one?
If so it could happen that routine was setup after the data load of March. So April load is correct while the other older loads are not.
Try deleting and reconstructing the data requests of months older than April,in the cube.See if this corrects the age.
    Another thing confused me.
    AGE CALMONTH HEADCOUNT
    012006 2679
    022006 2694
    032006 2694
    15 042006 1
    20 042006 1
Does datasource send 1 record for each employee?Looks so as it has employee age(which must be calculated by difference between date of birth and system-date).Then how come each record has HEADCOUNT field?
    cheers,
    Vishvesh

I would like to buy a blu-ray burner for my T410s.
Of course it has to have drive height of 9.5mm.
It should be able to burn double-layer DVDs DVD+R DL *.
It should be able to burn double-layer blu-rays BD-R DL with a speed of 2x or better.
If anyone has a definite information on the specs of such a drive, I would appreciate letting me know.
    Thanks
    Tom
*Note, there is a difference between DVD+R and DVD-R.

If I remember correctly, there was a T400 Blu-ray burner - quite expensive at the time - that should work.  The T61 version would not work, as it would have had a PATA not SATA.  I don't think it is made any longer, but there could still be some aorund.

  • CS3 "Come for the blue-ray stay for the flash" crashing (MY SOLUTION)

    Hello everybody,
I had some serious trouble starting up Encore CS3 in WinXP. Seeing the "Come for the blue-ray stay for the flash" -message and then Encore CS3 closing up. As for someone else in the forums, starting Adobe Version Cue before trying to start Encore solved the problem.
Now a year later, I faced the same problem with Vista 64bit and with totally different hardware. For many people unplugging certain USB-drives or devices has solved the problem, but for me it didn´t help, neither in XP nor Vista. I remembered the solution from XP and started up Adobe Bridge CS3, then chose "Version Cue" -> "Start server". This action opens up a browser and asks for server information. I inserted nothing, tried to start Encore CS3 and it worked!
Hope my experiences will help some of you who are struggling with the same problem.

OMG, thanks so much for this solution... I have searched high and low for a solution, and I have also tried reinstalling countless times.  My only question is do you have to start that server every time you start up encore?  Also do you know what is causing this to happen that you need to start the server?

  • Blu Ray Drive for W500 - which one?

This my first post! I have a W500 (4058), 64-bit Win7, 8GB Ram. I have seen multiple blu ray drives for the W500, so I'm not sure which one is best (or even what the real differences between them are). Here are the FRU that are supposedly compatiable with the W500: 1.) 43N3215 2.) 42T2538 (or 42T2539) 3.) 43N3230 Any one have any of these? Any problems with locating the drivers, etc? Thanks.

An additional question that should be asked is this:  What is the height of the various Blu Ray drives?  Are they 9 mm high or 12.5 mm high? There has been a lot of discussion about the UltraBay disk caddies not properly filling the UltraBay slot on the W520 because they are not high enough to fully fill the UltraBay slot. Michael

  • Blue Ray Burner for Early 2009 Mac Pro

Hello Folks I don't know if I am in the right area of the forum to ask this question. Here it is. Can any one tell me whats a good Blue Ray Burner for the Early 2009 8 Core Mac Tower. I do own Toast 10 with the Blue Ray Plug-in.
Whats the difference USB 3.0 to USB 2.0
    Thanks
    Steve

    videoguy4u,
I bought the LG/WH10LS30KMPT from OWC and installed it on my early 2008 Mac Pro.
Very tedious installation on the 2008 MP,but it works fine.
With Toast10 it works burning Blu ray and DVD,perhaps the original DvD drive can be removed.
Alt key needs to be pressed to open this second drive.
    Go for it.
If you are in the UK carriage and customs payment will double the cost.
But it arrived within seven days.
The shipping company in the UK will send you an email asking you to pay the duty by email.
It was delivered the next day after payment.
    Michael.
