  • Trying to replace the Keyboard for HP Pavilion DV7-3180us. Need part number & compatible parts.

I have a HP Pavilion DV7-3180us laptop.  I have to replace the Keyboard because I have about 7 missing keys.  I have been looking for a good replacement but I want to ensure that I am getting the lowest price and the correct part.   I don't have a lot to spend on it but it looks cheaper or about the same price, to buy the whole keyboard rather than the seperate keys.  Is this keyboard compatible with other keyboards?  This would give me more options to find one in stock and a reasonable price.  Also, need a new AC Adapter charger.  I have seen it listed with 3 different watts 65w, 90w, & 120w.  Is this accurate?  I find the parts listed under my computer manufacturer number but I am skeptical that it is correct.  I have seen some reviews where people say that the keyboard replacement listed for DV7-3180us did not fit.  Anyone with any help to make this easier I would very much appreciate.  Thanks.

    Hi:
My advice is to read chapter 3 of the dv7 service manual below, and cross reference the part numbers or only buy the parts you need with the HP part numbers.

  • Dv7-3165dx motherboard

I have a dv7-3145 notebook that only 2 years and 8 months old. After talking with tech support they told me that I needed have new motherboard.  I always told my daughter that HP had good products. She has a 4 year old Dell laptop that's still going strong. Tech support offered my to buy another but this is my last HP product ever. I guess I should  have bought a Dell like my daughter.

    Hi,
Try installing the HP version of Cyberlink PowerDVD 10 on the following link.

  • Dv7 - 6c95dx motherboards

Will a HM65 Motherboard 655488-001 work in my dv7-6c95dx case. It has the same ports as does my bad board, and is shaped just like my older motherboard.

Thanks for the response. I know which board is the standard replacement. I am looking at the board thickness, shape, ports, connectors the works. This 665993-001 has the same board layout, size, shape and chips positioning as does this 655488-01.
The only difference is the dedicated video card with 2GB DDR5 RAM.

  • Pavilion DV7-6163US motherboard replacement

40GAB6510-E1A3 is on my original board. as well as HP P/N647031-013 and CTBZCB04HT1ADMY and AB651... I cannot find a replacement board. Is there another board that will work? It is the Intel i7 board. If not, is there anyone who repairs motherboards?

    Hey ccoreymcmillan,
You may be able to find that part on the HP Parts Store or HP PartSurfer:
    http://h20141.www2.hp.com
    http://www.partsurfer.hp.com
Please use your notebook's PN from the service tag on the unit to search, then you'll see a list of all the available parts for that system.

  • HP DV7-2123 motherboard ATA support ?

    Dear Sir,
Orginally DV7-2123 notebook has Serial ATA-150 connected 500GB hard drive.,
does product support SATA II or SATA III hard drives ?. What about if change hard drive to SSD ?..

SATA-II, not SATA-III and an SSD will work fine either a SATA-II SSD or a SATA-III SSD will downclock and you will hardly lose any speed at all.

Another HP laptop with a defective motherboard. I'll never buy another HP.

You can possibly get it repaired for a reasonable price.

  • Number Lock is not working on dv7-3180us

I can not use the number pad to type numbers.
this is pain because I need to use the calculator.
While the cursor actions are different with num lock on or off, they are similar and neither allows numbers to be typed,

These locks are only specified to protect against other people who are also using these locks. What you can do with the file when you aren't using locks is up to the OS, and Unix-based systems will let you do anything you like.
Due to its brain-dead advisory locking scheme.

    You're very welcome.
If your notebook came with the english, french or spanish version of W7 and you can read all 25 characters of the W7 product key on the bottom of your notebook, make your own W7 installation media.
    Here's how...
Use the Windows 7 USB/DVD installation tool to compile the ISO file you download from Digital River. Link  below. You need a DVD or a 4 GB flash drive to use the USB method of compilation.
Use the 25 character windows 7 product key to activate your installation.
    http://download.cnet.com/Windows-7-USB-DVD-Download-Tool/3000-18513_4-10972600.html
Then go to the PC's support and driver page to install the drivers you need.
Link to the W7 ISO file downloads is below. Download the applicable version of Windows 7 that is on your product key (Home Premium, Pro, or Ultimate).  The SP1 Media Refresh files are the latest ISO files.

I wish I could tell you what sata mode your notebook is set to, but I can't.
Some dv7's have it to AHCI, and some have it to RAID. It depends on the model series.
For example, this person's dv7-4000 series model was set to ahci.

  • DV7 doesn't wake up after CPU replacement

    Hi
My DV7-1135nr (motherboard 480365-001) stopped working two weeks ago (black screen, no booting, fan spinning). I realized it's the processor's fault because of the once-blinking capslock LED. It had ZM-82 installed.
I bought used ZM-80 and installed it. After the replacement it's even worse, because it powers up for 1 second only. Then it seems like shutted down. Screen still doesn't show up, fan is starting spinning but now capslock LED doesn't blink. The only blinking LEDs are the one on the right (1) - it blinks every time I press power button - and the left one (2) - it blinks sometimes. Photo of motherboard with LEDs: http://bit.ly/1aLYxno
What did I do wrong? What should I do now? Please, help.
PS: Sorry if I made some mistakes in the text. I'm not native English speaker.

If your Mac happily goes to sleep but won't wake up--Hold down the power switch to force-reboot your machine and get it running again.
Don't worry-your Mac isn't narcoleptic. Its Open Firmware system or NVRAM (nonvolatile RAM) is likely corrupt, and your Mac can't remember how to wake up.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Command-Option-O-F key combo until you see a somewhat intimidating command-line display that ends with the Open Fimware prompt. Type the following lines:
    reset-nvram
    press Return on keyboard
    set-defaults
    press Return
    reset-all
    press Return
Your Mac will reboot. Once it's running, put it back to sleep to test. If the problem recurs your Energy Saver preferences may be the culprit. Delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file (go to Finder/Hard drive/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration)--don't worry, your Mac will regenerate a new one--and then restart to see if that rights the wrong.
Still did'nt work? Might be time to call AppleCare or see an Apple Genius or a technician.
    Cheers!

  • How do I reset back to factory settings?

Trying to restore my dv7-3180us back to factory setting.  using windows 7

Upon boot up immediately start tapping the f11 key to begin the recovery process. This is a destructive restore, so be sure and back up all your personal files, pictures etc before you begin.

  • Move Primary to SSD

I have the DV7-3180US, I am trying to change the primary to a SSD drive.  I have created the system restore disks, changed the drive and tried to restore the system on the new drive, I got an error that it was a non-bootable media.  I have used Acronis Migrate, Acronis True Image, EaseUS, and Clonezilla  all have failed.  Does anyone know how to change the primary drive to a SSD, what software did you use and what steps did you take?  I have an external connection to the SSD so I would think that it would be fairly simple, I have done this with other laptops successfully but have failed with this.  The SSD is a 120GB OCZ Vertex.
Thanks for the help, lets get one of the experts that are on today to throw their input in the mix.
    Release The Kraken!

OK...it looks like system is trying to boot of the SSD rather than Optical drive....I would suggest, Tapping the Esc key on HP logo screen that will take you to Startup Memu... Now Press the F9 Key, that will take you the boot manager.... Now highlight the optical drive and press enter, that would have you boot from the optical driver.... or has this been attempted...

  • HP Pavilion dv7-6b21sm Entertainment Notebook PC Motherboard - disc info

    Hello guys
I have pavilion dv7 series laptop like it's stated up in the subject
I bought cable with conector for 2nd disk.
Now the question is what speed is possible through this cable or what my motherboard supports?
I want to install SSD disk inside but if there is only sata support there's no meaning for me to buy an SSD disc.
I tried msinfo32, dxdiag, info in support but can't find the product number or motherboard number to check what it supports
I'm attaching a picture of cable just in case somebody doesn't know how it looks
    my product number is A6J05EA#BED
    thank you

  • HP ENVY DV7-7212nr Possible Motherboard Failure?

    HP ENVY DV7-7212nr
Windows 8 (Factory) upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro thru Windows Store.
    8 GB DDR3 RAM
    NVIDIA GeForce GT 650M 2GB GDDR5
750 GB HDD with 32 GB mSSD Cache
Ralink RT3290 WiFi Card (Starting dropping connections a few days before this happened)
Last night, I was using my laptop normally, and set it down to play a game. During the game, it died, and not even thinking about it, i just returned it to my desk for the next day.
Well, today, I charged it up, and went to turn it on and I get next to nothing! The power LED remains on solid, and the hard disk activity is solid for about 2 seconds before shutting off. The screen is blank, there are no blink or beep codes and the WiFi LED does not change colors indicating the computer has at least booted.
Being an IT technician, I removed the RAM and reseated it. That did not help. I also tried booting without the hard drive plugged in. That did not help either. I also tried the Win+B BIOS recovery with my hard drive and a USB drive, and no luck there iether. The last (probably) worst part is this...I removed the RAM and powered on without it, and still, no blink or beep codes.
At this point, I believe that my laptop has a failed motherboard, but I just want to check from now until I get the chance to call HP support if there is anything else I can try. My warranty expires in only three weeks, so at least it happened before, not after.
Also, does anyone know the direct phone number to HP support that is on-shore in the USA. I have never had a good turn-out speaking with the off-shore support, and would love to work with someone who can help me better right off the bat.
    Thanks!
