Dv7-6195us raid

I bought a HP - Pavilion dv7-6195us from Bestbuy : http://www.bestbuy.com/site/HP+-+Pavilion+Laptop+/+Intel%26%23174%3B+Core%26%23153%3B+i7+Processor+/...
It has 2 x 500gb sata 5400rpm and I was thinking about putting them in raid0. Is there any way ?
Thanks.

Nope...HP does not support RAID in any of its dual hard drive capable laptops. The Customer Service implications would be overwhelming, as you might imagine. You either have to have a hardware RAID controller, which is not present for the built in hard drives, or BIOS support for software RAID, which is also not present.

  • Why can't I install the Intel Ultimate-N 6300 wifi card in dv7-6195us?

I attempted to install an Intel Ultimate-N 6300 a/b/g/n wireless card in my new dv7-6195us and when booting, BIOS states the card is not supported and to remove the card and reboot the system. Is there a reason I cannot install this card? What wireless a/b/g/n cards does this system support? • Replacement Fan for DV7-6195US

    Greetings All,
I need to order a replaceent fan/heatsink for a DV7-6195US notebook. I can't seem to find the part # or any other info. for this on the usual pages. Can anyone point me in the right direction?
    Thank you in advance.

    Gary,
    Specs: http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/document?cc=us&lc=en&docname=c02863098
    Manual: http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842278.pdf
The manual only lists fan/heat sink assembly for Intel processors with 2GB discrete graphics system & not for 1GB discrete graphics, which is present in yours.
This is your Laptop's HP part surfer link:http://partsurfer.hp.com/Search.aspx?SearchText=LW170UA
In there too, only UMA & 2GB graphics system cooling fan/heat sink assembly part numbers are listed,
Only part for 2GB discrete graphic system is listed- 666391-001 (partsurfer) or 653627-001 (manual) .
    http://www.amazon.com/gp/aw/d/B008L30LKW?pc_redir=1408522867&robot_redir=1
But, from this thread - http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Hardware/Cooling-Fan/td-p/3475779 , spare part number for 1GB discrete graphics such as yours is listed as 666390-001.

Through online stores, I could find that both are compatible with your laptop model - 666390-001 or 666391-001.

Means most likely considering your O/S age that the drive laser no longer reads cd/dvd meaning it has failed. Did you try cleaning the cd/dvd laser lens to see if it wasn't dirty? If you did that and still no reads this means the laser to read cd/dvd is dead and you will have to replace the drive.

  • How to Replace the arrow key on Pavilion dv7

So, the left arrow key on the laptops keyboard popped out. My laptop is HP Pavilion dv7-6195us.
I'm living in Croatia, Europe, but I have found this site , and I want to order the key.
But the problem is I don't see my laptop model, specified above. Can you guys give me the exact link which key should I buy?
And if you know any better site for ordering the keyboard keys, please let me know.
    Regards,
                                                                                                                                                                                                      stagg250

    Hi,
You should buy a new keyboard. I don't think that you can replace a key on a laptop keyboard (it won't last too long). I have a manual with all the part numbers so I guess that you will need the same keyboard as in Slovenia, because I can't find a dedicated keyboard for Croatia. The Czech rep and Slovakia use the same keyboard as well.
The part number for a black Slovenia keyboard is: 639396-BA1
    http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c02842278.pdf
It looks like the laptop is from the US so the part number for the original keyboard is: 639396-001
I guess that you will have to stick with the US keyboard.

  • Keyboard Delay - Low Frequency - Waiting time DV7

Well, i have a little problem here, i use a DV7-6195us HP Pavilion.
I recently did a format on the pc, during the process of reinstalling drivers (the official website of HP) appeared a problem ... my keyboard got a huge delay (~ .5 sec). I would like to know the source of this problem. If anyone has suggestions, please help.
I've tried: Accessibility features, Keyboard Driver, Update BIOS, Settings frequency of the Control Panel.
I believe that the problem appeared after updating the Bios, for so if anyone knows which version is BIOS manufactures default pls tell-me, I am grateful.
For more info this is My computer

    Well... i already try:
1- Uninstall keyboard driver n let windows install it with a default keyboard 101-keys
    2- Update keyboard driver with a IBM Enhaced keyboard 101-keys (aida32 )
3- Disable all windows features of keyboard helper.
4- Install all drivers from HP-US oficial website
    5- Update BIOS to version F.14, F.1A, F.1B (current)
6- Install the HP essentials update software for windows 7
7- Test the keyboard in SafeMode to check if the problem perssist.
    8- Multiple Reboots.
9- Full scan with AVIRA FREE antivirus.
The problem continues to occur even after all tests.
One time after a reboot, keyboard miraculously returned to work perfectly, however, after some hours on the system fell into a BlueScreen and after the reboot the problem returned.
in truth the problem first appeared just after a blue screen.
this reinforces my theory about the BIOS update, noting that before the problem appears for the first time, I was using version of the BIOS F.1A
    I dunno whot to do.
Maybe do a thorough cleaning to avoid bad contact.
Maybe make the replacement of the keyboard.
Remembering that absolutely all keystrokes and keyboard functions work perfectly ... the only problem is the waiting time between a letter and another.

I have a HP Dv7 6197ca with the same card as you, so here is how you should fix it: Update your BIOS to the latest version, then in the BIOS screen (Press ESC then choose Bios Setup) and change the Setting for Graphics Mode from Fixed to Dynamic. This should fix your issue. If you  can't find that option after you update the BIOS, then try the UBR tool in the UnifL Installer. I suggest trying the values F840 and F940.
If the resolution is all wonky after you switch in the BIOS, you need to re-install the drivers.

  • BIOS update (F.1A)

    Hello
I have a HP dv7 6195us new laptop. I have Win7 Ultimate multiboot with Win7 Home premium, Ubuntu and Fedora.
I intend to update my BIOS to the latest one (F.1A) on the support website since it adds BIOS support for switchable graphics. I'm aware of the consequences of unsuccessful BIOS update, so I'm a bit afraid to do it. I need to know if the multi-boot setup is going to pose any problems? I had also wiped out the recovery partition and the HP Tools partition while the multi-boot process and I no longer have the access to the HP in-built BIOS update feature.
Can somebody help me in getting the BIOS update done?

    Hi,
Did you create your set of Recovery DVDs?
The reason I'm asking is because although it sounds like a lot of hassle, the safest way to update your bios would be to return the notebook to factory conditions and then update the bios as the flash will then be performed outside of Windows when you restart which is about as safe as you're going to get.

  • New SSD recognized in Windows but not BIOS

Hello! I just put a Crucial M550 SSD in my HP Pavilion dv7-6195us notebook (Windows 7 64-bit). I have two hard drive slots so I left my 500GB Toshiba SATA drive with all my files in and simply cloned everything over to the SSD once I had installed it. The clone was successful, I can see that all my Windows files (including loaders), documents, etc. moved to the SSD. It appears in My Computer as well as Disk Management and other areas of Windows (still running on the SATA), but for some reason not the BIOS. I cannot change the boot order without it appearing in BIOS, which is the whole reason I got a SSD. Any suggestions would be very helpful!
(I'm not sure if it is useful information, but I did try making the SSD a primary partition.)
BIOS is showing (in the boot order menu):
    Notebook drive
    CD/DVD Drive
    USB CD/DVD Drive

Swap the position of the drives. The secondary bay is not bootable so does not show up in the boot order.

  • HP P/N: 608426-001 Product Specifications?

    Hello,
I just purchased and received an HP Pavilion dv7-6195US.  This laptop came with an AC adaptor, P/N: 608426-001.  The AC adaptor does NOT state what the compatible input voltage and frequencies are.  I've checked the documentation that came with the laptop and the documents provided on HP's website without success.  I'm deploying overseas and I need to know what this AC adaptor's specifications are.
    Thanks,
    Rob

    Hello,
I have a power socket adaptor that will work for the overseas outlet but it only changes the plug connection.  It doesn't do anything to the power.  A replacement AC adaptor is ~$100 OEM.  I'd hate to plug my AC adaptor in and smoke it as my first test to see if it plays nice with the local power.  It seems like the specifications should be available somewhere?  Maybe those nice people at HP will drop a good link?

  • HP Pavilion DV7-7008tx Laptop - Raid 1 for two 1TB HDDs?

    HP Pavilion DV7-7008tx Laptop
    B3K25PA#ABG
    Windows 7 Home Premium
    Hi,
    I have a Pavilion DV7 with two 1TB HDDs and a 32GB m-sata cache/ssd.
I would like to put the two HDDs into a RAID 1 (mirror) array.
When I enable RAID I loses the ability to boot into Windows.
I have verified that the Laptop will run the two HDDs in RAID 1 as I can run a Linux Boot disk ahd then boot into Windows 7 succesfully.
Something in the Raid /Boot  configuration is not allowing the Laptop to boot directly into Windows.
Any ideas or instruction would be helpful please?
    Regards
    Gazman

    Hello @Micro-Motive ,
    Welcome to the HP Forums!
I understand you're having issues booting after setting up RAID 1 on your DV7-7008tx notebook.
When setting up RAID 1 mirrors you need to enable the feature and then format the drives. After they have been formatted Windows must be reinstalled. If you have not already done this, please try it now and let me know if you still have the problem.
Why: Enabling the Raid 1 feature does not automatically mirror the drives. The Boot MGR is looking for the content on both drives but is only finding it on 1 and thus fails to load.
I think it's also important to explain that setting up RAID 1 with a 32GB SSD flash along with a 1TB mechanical drive is going to drastically reduce your storage space. RAID 1 mirrors the content on both drives so it can read from both at the same time, increasing read and write speeds. The downside to this is that the mirror only works to the extent of the smallest drive. Thus, your turning your 1TB drive into a 32GB drive.
See here for more information: Chapter 19. GEOM: Modular Disk Transformation Framework This article is for FreeBSD users, an open source Unix-like operating system but the same rules apply as RAID support occurs at the BIOS level.
What you may want to do is install a hybrid drive. A hybrid drive will allow you to use the speeds of SSD at a fraction of the price. You can read about this here: Hybrid hard drives: How they work and why they matter.
Let me know if you need any more information or if installing Windows after enabling RAID 1 does not work.

  • DV7 RAID

    Hola, buenas tardes.

  • Dv7-3085dx and raid

I would like to set up raid on my laptop (dv7-3085dx ). I purchased and installed a new hard drive (same size).  But seeing that the Bios doesnt support.  Frustrating when I have a second drive in my gamming laptop but cant raid configure for speed.  I am new to raid but not computer maintenance.  So does my bios have to support raid?  From my reading I understood that windows could manage the raid configuration during a fresh installation?  Or am I wasting my time trying raid with this laptop?

You would be better off using a fast SSD drive.
Raid is a waste of time on a notebook.
