DV7 doesn't wake up after CPU replacement

Hi
My DV7-1135nr (motherboard 480365-001) stopped working two weeks ago (black screen, no booting, fan spinning). I realized it's the processor's fault because of the once-blinking capslock LED. It had ZM-82 installed.
I bought used ZM-80 and installed it. After the replacement it's even worse, because it powers up for 1 second only. Then it seems like shutted down. Screen still doesn't show up, fan is starting spinning but now capslock LED doesn't blink. The only blinking LEDs are the one on the right (1) - it blinks every time I press power button - and the left one (2) - it blinks sometimes. Photo of motherboard with LEDs: http://bit.ly/1aLYxno
What did I do wrong? What should I do now? Please, help.
PS: Sorry if I made some mistakes in the text. I'm not native English speaker.

If your Mac happily goes to sleep but won't wake up--Hold down the power switch to force-reboot your machine and get it running again.
Don't worry-your Mac isn't narcoleptic. Its Open Firmware system or NVRAM (nonvolatile RAM) is likely corrupt, and your Mac can't remember how to wake up.
Restart your Mac and immediately hold down the Command-Option-O-F key combo until you see a somewhat intimidating command-line display that ends with the Open Fimware prompt. Type the following lines:
reset-nvram
press Return on keyboard
set-defaults
press Return
reset-all
press Return
Your Mac will reboot. Once it's running, put it back to sleep to test. If the problem recurs your Energy Saver preferences may be the culprit. Delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file (go to Finder/Hard drive/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration)--don't worry, your Mac will regenerate a new one--and then restart to see if that rights the wrong.
Still did'nt work? Might be time to call AppleCare or see an Apple Genius or a technician.
Cheers!

my macbook pro doesn't wake up after sleep

I'm having the same issue. I've had my logic board replaced twice now, which I did last week and then Monday I had to take it to a Genius Bar again because my hard drive cable was malfunctioning. I don't know why it's happening but I'm really starting to get frustrated with my machine. I bought my MacBook Pro brand new last year in September and ever since I've dropped it in November, it's been really glitchy. After I dropped it, I had to replace my Logic board, graphics card, and hard drive and they covered it.

  • Macbook air doesn't wake up after improper shutdown

    Hi guys,
I've had this issue for couple times in the past 8 months.
I've consulted Apple support but doesn't seem helpful at all.
They took my MacBook Air for invenstigation for over a week and returned and concluded no issue found.
Hence I had to consult genius on the forum.
I seldomly had this issue, my MacBook Air 2012 just shuts while it's in use, or while it's asleep, and I couldn't wake it up.
It looked like dead and nothing turned it back on, keyboard nor pwoer button.
I could only to wait for another 10 or 15 minutes, and then press the power button again.
Usuallys it comes back from a restart and return to the login menu.
After I log in, it shows there was an inproper shutdown.
This kinda annoys me as I don't know if there's going to be any potential issue after my warranty expires. (still 4 months left)
After suggestion would be much appreciated.

    Hi all,
Thanks for the help. Sorry for the late reply as I was away from Internet access for the past week.
I couldn't reproduce this at will. It happened again this morning.
I was pretty sure I had the power connected, lid closed and connected to my HDMI monitor and USB mouse and keyboard. I left the MacBook Air on when I went to bed, and I had power went sleep after an hour in the energy setting.
When I resumed my computer by pressing keys couple of times (strange, it doesn't wake my computer up with one press) on my USB keyboard, my computer went straight into the login screen. I knew it was shutting down again.
I just did reset SMC but I don't think it helps. I'll monitor it for another week.
I did have the crash log and will send to Apple Support for further investigation.
I'll post it here just in case anyone is interested.

  • Computer doesn't wake up after it went to sleep

After I upgraded my OS to Leopard, everytime it went to sleep, it doesn't wake up and need to hard restart. Anyone has the same problem or know what the issue is? I haven't had this issue before the upgrade. It has happened to me 4 times now.

    Yep, same problem.
At first it seemed related to Fast User Switching. I turned it off and it seemed like the problem was solved.
That was a couple of weeks ago. Now it's back, and it happens even when no programs are running. I HATE not being able to sleep the machine.
If you haven't tried it, and you are using Fast User Switching, it's worth trying with it switched off. It might work for you. Maybe even longer than a few weeks?

  • Quicksilver doesn't wake up after sleep

Recently (over the past month or so) my Quicksilver G4/733 has developed a problem where it sometimes (about 20% of the time) will not wake up after going to sleep. Tapping on the keyboard to wake up, for example, results in no reaction from the computer other than my FireWire DVD burner clicking a few times. Using the power button to wake up causes the button to glow and fade out with no other reaction from the computer (except the FireWire drive).
To get the computer to start up again, I cut the power for about a minute (usually by turning off my power strip) and then attempt to start up. If I only cut power for a few seconds, the computer exhibits the same unresponsive behavior.
I have not upgraded my hardware or system (other than automatic Software Update) or installed any applications in the past few months.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • NEW iBook and doesn´t wake up after sleep mode!

    Hi,
I´ve just started to use my new iBook G4 3 days ago, added my user information, and for a little while the wireless internet connection. Then, I closed the display to put it on sleep mode.....and.............it DOESN´T WAKE UP!!!
The hard disk seems to start up correctly (the fan is on and the disk noise is ok), the Caps Lock on the keyboard is on too, but as soon as I reboot the computer, a strange beep (like a phone tone!) starts up, then the sleep light signal flashes but the screen stays black.
I think that by now I´ve tried the most solutions (as far as I can having the black screen) I´ve read on the troubleshooting page and the recommendations posted in this Discussion chat... The iBook remains partially dead.
    Help!!!

ummm, even when its not plugged in to the power adapter? i find that when my ibook annoyingly doesnt wake from sleep, its usually because i connected/disconnected something while it was sleeping. even plugging in the power adapter seems to affect it. the way i fix it is to put it to sleep again, and then open the lid. its worked every time so far.
oh, and apprantly 'manually' putting the ibook to sleep does the trick (ie from the apple menu)

  • Macbook doesn't wake up after automatic sleep

I've got a problem with my macbook. Whenever it goes asleep from not using it ( automatic, I set the time at 15 minutes ) I need to push the power button for like 2 minutes before it wakes up again. I've many friends who have macbooks, whenever they shut the computer down just by pushing the screen down on the keyboard, they simply need to open it again and it wakes up. Mine doesn't unless I close it and open it 2 minutes later. If I let it shut for something like 10 minutes I then need to press the Power button to have it revive. Sometime I need to press it 2 minutes, sometime a bit less.
That was the first part of the problem. At the beginning it didnt disturb me that much so I didn't try to solve the problem. Now the infaction has mutated. Whenever I put it asleep myself or when it goes automatically I can't restart it. I press the power button but whenever it restarts ( still need to push the power button for 2 minutes ) the screen recovers ( can see the recovering bar down ) and when it reaches the 3 last bar it stops, and an message comes on the front saying there is a problem and I need to restart the computer.
It's very nasty, I can't put my computer asleep, and can do nothing about it.
Has anyone encountered the same problem? Or does anyone know what I can do? I still have my warranty. Should I send it to apple?
Thank you very much for your help.

    try these troubleshooting steps:
_*resetting the System Management Controller SMC*_
_*resetting your Mac's PRAM and NVRAM*_
if that doesn't help, try booting into _*safe mode*_, then reboot normally.

  • After CPU replace I cannot start my Satellite S1400-553S

    Hello
I opened up my Toshiba laptop to replace the CPU a newer one among other components salvaged from an other Satellite, when I replaced them and closed it back up I cant seem to boot it up now.
When I press the power button the floppy drive makes a noise for a slit second and goes off again and the yellow power cable LED comes on.
I have put the original components back into the machine, but I still have the problem.
Any idea as to whats up?
    Thanks
    Rob

    Hi there,
it could be that youve damaged your mainboard with the other CPU. I mean did you checked before if the CPU type you wanted to install was intended to run in your machine?
If I were you I would throw the machine in trash and forget about it since repairing such old machine is senseless, especially after trying to repar it by yourself..
    Cheers and nice weekend

  • Monitor doesn't wake up after DPMS sleep

    Hi,
I have bought a new PC with an Intel Core i7-4790K CPU. It includes the HD4600 GPU which should be able to drive my LG 34UM95-P with 3440x1440@60Hz. I connected it via DisplayPort and enabled DP 1.2 in monitor settings. But the display never wakes after the monitor goes into power save mode, instead I get this errors in my log:
Mär 10 16:48:43 maxxgubbl kernel: [drm:intel_dp_start_link_train] *ERROR* failed to enable link training
Mär 10 16:48:43 maxxgubbl kernel: [drm:intel_dp_complete_link_train] *ERROR* failed to start channel equalization
I googled already, but found only people which are never get the display working with DispalyPort and as a solution there was a kernel patch which was already accepted 2013. With HDMI it work with 3440x1440@50Hz so far.
I hope someone can help me.

  • Wifi doesn't wake up after sleep

Every time I wake up my iMac, there is no internet connection.  The wifi signal symbol in the upper right has full bars, and there's every indication that it is indeed connected to the wifi network and the internet - but it's not.  Even if I wait for several minutes, it doesn't come back on, so every time I wake my computer up, I have to disable and then reenable wifi, and it starts working within seconds.  This isn't too hard to do, but it is an annoyance, and I'd expect better from Mac OS.  When I'm running Windows 7 on bootcamp on the same machine, there is never any problem with the wifi after waking up, so I assume it must be a problem with Mac OS rather than it being a hardware issue.  I've got a 2011 21.5" iMac running Mac OS X Lion, although I was having similar problems when I was running Snow Leopard too.  I've tried removing all the pre saved wifi accounts through the network preferences and keychain, but it hasn't helped.   Any ideas?

It's definitely become more of a problem since I installed Lion, it was more of an intermittent problem on Snow Leopard.  My wifi router's a brand new Netgear DGN2200, and it works perfectly with all my other devices, including this iMac when it's running Windows 7.

  • Display doesn't wake up after going to sleep

On rare occassion, but often enough to be a hassle, my 20" apple display will stay black after I move the mouse or hit the keyboard after the computer has gone to sleep. My only solution is to hold the power button in for 5 second and force a restart. Why does this happen and what can I do to stop it?
    Thanks!

Type the following line:
    reset-nvram
press the return key on your keyboard
    set-defaults
    press return
    reset-all
    press return
Your Mac will reboot. Once it's running, put it back to sleep to test. If the problem recurs your Energy Saver preferences may be the culprit. Delete the com.apple.PowerManagement.plist file (go to Finder/Hard drive/Library/Preferences/SystemConfiguration)--don't worry, your Mac will regenerate a new one--and then restart to see if that rights the wrong.

  • IBook doesn't wake up after SSD install

Hello, i've recently installed a 64Gb kingspec PATA SSD  to my iBook G4 1.2Ghz. All it's running well, Leopard detected the drive, installed without problems and the system is more fast and responsive. I only have a problem when waking up from sleep. The screen turns on, i can move the mouse and also the dock can be accesed but in few seconds the computer freezes and i have to hard power down. I can't launch any application and the logs show nothing. After reboot all goes fine.
I've tried the following, without luck:
    * S.O reinstall
    * Tryin different hibernate modes using pmset, including disksleep=0.
    * I've disable "sleep the disk when possible"
For any unknow reason the system can't write on the disk when waking up.

    hi Reichtofer,
Your friend is probably right. In this pdf info sheet, the B590 supports the following CPU:
    HM77 based models − Intel® Core™ i3
    HM77 based models − Intel® Core™ i5
    HM70 based models − Intel® Pentium®
    HM70 based models − Intel® Celeron®
    HM70 CPU/Chipset Compatibility list
    HM77 CPU/Chipset Compatibility list
It looks like you really need to change the motherboard to an HM77 chipset for the CPU to work properly.
Also, although the HM77 chipset does support both the Intel Pentium Dual-Core Mobile 2020M, Intel Core i5-3210M and other various CPU on the list above, looking at page 85 of the hardware maintenance manual, it seems like the BIOS is "restricted" to only use the following CPU:
    - Link to picture
In this case, there's no official way on how to remove the restriction as this is by design and you may need to do as what your friend suggested.
    Regards

  • Cannot awake from sleep after CPU replacement.

I recently upgraded my arch machine from E4500 CPU to a E6700 CPU. Everything seems to be okay, but for some reason I can no longer awake from suspension. My computer kind of just sits with the little blinking white under score at the top of the screen, which interestingly enough isn't blinking.
I was hoping someone may be able to interpret what's going on in these logs for me. I see some errors, but I feel like they shouldn't be completely messing up suspensions.

Anyone see anything out of the ordinary in there that I should be looking at?
    Thanks!

Aw, i feel sorry for you.
I don't have a clue about your problem though, have you tried suspending from a live cd? If the problem persists there, your best bet is probably bugzilla.kernel.org...

  • Laptop screen doesn't wake up after suspend

Basically the title is my problem. I've never had problems with suspending until a few days ago. When I close the lid, my laptop suspends as usual. But when I open it, the OS resumes but the screen remains black (no color/picture).  When I hit the power button after the OS is resumed, the screen activates and I can see the usual shutdown screen/lines. Does anyone know how to fix this problem?

There are already a couple of threads about this already. Depending on your video card (Intel), it could be you just need to increase the brightness.
In any event, please search before posting.
