i have a dv9000 entertainment PC that had a non charging issue. in doing my own research i discovered this was a mobo problem. i proceeded to remove the mobo to locate the model number and found out that the sticker was missing . is there an alternate way to find out which mobo i have. also when i reassembled the unit it no longer works on the power supply as it used to. would like any feedback on this problem also thanks

Use the dv9000 series Service & Maintenence guide. You will have to peruse the guide to see which one for your series has all of the features yours had. The part numbers are listed. Some are bare bones entry models and others are full featured. Be certain to note which one work with which CPU.
Another way to do it is to use the p/n fom the barcoded sticker , go to the web support portal for your notebook and use the order parts link.  Pay close attention to the details in the parts listing.
Kind regards,
erico

My next question would be how would you recommend I rectify this error , what is the model number of the motherboard so I can get a replacement? and where can I find some directions on swapping the cpu and attaching what needs to be attached, thanks.

  • Re: IMAC G5 Model Number A1076 hard drive replacement

Re: IMAC G5 Model Number A1076.
I replaced my internal hard drive with a brand new drive. My computer is a IMAC G5 Model Number A1076.
When I insert Leopard Install Disk 1 and boot, I get to the point where I am asked to select a drive. Nothing is showing. My hard drive is not recognized.
I Inserted the Mac OS X Leopard Install disc then restarted the computer while holding the C key.  When the computer finished starting up from the disc,  I chose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. after selecting the language. I did not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer.
My hard drive will not show up in the disk utility menu.  What am I missing?

Does it show up in Disk Utility? Is it Formatted for Mac?
    1. Insert the Mac OS X Install disc, then restart the computer while holding the C key.
    2. When your computer finishes starting up from the disc, choose Disk Utility from the Installer menu. (In Mac OS X 10.4 or later, you must select your language first.)
Important: Do not click Continue in the first screen of the Installer. If you do, you must restart from the disc again to access Disk Utility.

Everything is not working fine, and a pop with sparks is not a normal result from turning on a power supply. If you got it from Tiger send it back and get this one.
I talked to the rep earlier, but I had to go to a meeting. When I called him back he said he was on the phone with Intel to make sure my CPU would work with that board. I know it will work so I have no clue why he called them. He didn't seem to concerned about the PSU though. I told him that the PSU popped and made sparks and it didn't phase him at all. I already told him I wanted to exchange the RAM with different kind and I wanted a new PSU. When I give him the new RAM and the PSU I want I will give this one a try.
    Thank you for your help.

  • MSI motherboard model number location?

Hi...........I have a simple question.  I bought, from a private party, a recently built computer with a Pentium 4 2.53 GHZ processsor, running Windows XP Pro.  It has an MSI motherboard in it.  The builder doesn't know the exact model number of the mobo.
The builder forgot to install a driver for the SM Bus Controller.   I need to download the driver for it, but before I can do that, I need the mobo model number.  I've taken the side cover off and have looked for a model number.  I don't see anything that looks like a model number.
In addition to the SM Bus Controller driver, I also want to download the instruction manual and anything else concerning this board.
Almost in the very middle of the board is "MSI" in large white letters.  This is right above the agp slot for the video card.  I don't see any numbers close to it that would be what I'm looking for.
It's not the most recent socket.  Would this possibly be socket 478?  I'm just not sure.  There is a chip labeled MSI Core Cell.
There is also a small white upc code with a number on it, which I assume could be the serial number.  It's a 10 digit number with a letter for the second digit.  I wonder if there is somewhere in the MSI site that cross references serial numbers with model numbers?
I check Windows system information to see what it would tell me.
    This is what it showed:
    System Manufacturer:                Micro-Star Inc.
    System model:                          MS-6728
    System type:                            x86 based PC
    Processor:                                x86 Family 15 Model 2 Stepping 7 Genuine Intel ~2533 Mhz
I've done some searches on the MSI site for MS 6728 but have had no results.
I can't think of anything else that might help identify this board.  With the information I've provided, can anyone give me a clue where to look for the model of the board?
    Thanks for your assistance.

Thanks to all that replied to my post.  I had a sudden realization that I could Google the number MS 6728, which is a MSI part number, not the model number.  Unfortunately, I had this epiphany after I posted.  I was able to find a picture of the board.  It's actually a 865 PE Neo 2 Platinum.
    Thanks for the google hint!
About the only place I didn't look was between the PCI slots, which is what the provided link indicated.  I looked, and there it was!
    Thanks again.

No, if you got a replacement iPhone from Apple it is a refurbished iPhone, hence a special model number.

  • Replacing overheated HP Pavillion DV9000 motherboard with Windows 7 capable motherboard?

I have a HP Pavillion DV9000 laptop (P/N RU971UA#ABA) that was given to me to fix the black screen problem, about one and half years ago.  I tried once the reflow method on youtube to no avail.  This laptop came with Vista Home Premium installed, with 2 GB memory.  I want to purchased a new upgradable motherboard that will fit my original case, but has the capabilies of upgrading to Windows 7, 64-Bit, and at least 4 GB of memory.  If there is no such motherboard, I want a permanent fix to this motherboard.  This laptop boots up as normal, ( correct beeps), but without the screen.  Can someone suggest a fix or repair shop?

First let me thank you for your response.  So now, I'm stuck with a beautiful HP laptop, that can't be fixed, and HP will not assist with a overheating problem that they created with it's design of this model.  This truly feels suckey.  Poor HP, everyone who brought this model should be given a refund.  So, it's pay for amother DV9000 motherboard or buy another laptop?  I'm going to do some research and write a few letters, and see what that will get me.  Thank you again.
That won't do much for the laptop since you already did the reflow and it failed. You should look on ebay for another board that was properly fixed and buy that and swap out your board. At least that way you will still have a functional laptop to be used for now til you go and by another laptop that doesn't have this history of problems.

I am trying to order a new screen for a Toshiba Satellite L300 04P. It was bought at a future shop in canada, needless to say it isnt easy finding the info about it i need. So my question is...
Will an LCD screen for say a L300 11M or L300 14C or other L300 model work for this laptop as long as the screen size of 15.4", and specs 1280x800, WXGA, Glossy, all match the original screen??
I am not sure where to find the screen model number besides the back of the actual screen but I don't feel comfortable takingthe laptop apart myself.
    Thank You very much!

  • Macbook Pro3,1 - LCD Replacement - What is the Model Number?

had an accident with my LCD tonight, in which I closed my macbook - with a USB stick still sitting on the keyboard!!!
So, new screen it is, and need to source another screen. I've seen some of the videos on replacing the screen and might be prepared to give it a go - but I'm confused as to what the model number is of the LCD that I am replacing. How can I find this out? Will probably buy from ebay.
I've connected the laptop to a monitor to access the Apple info, but cannot see a model type for the LCD.
I'm pretty sure that it is a backlight LED model that I have. It's a 2.2GHz Intel Core Duo, with a glossy screen. Bought it in September 2007.
    Thanks

    Bummer!
A good source of this type of information is PowerBook Medic. Here is a link:
    http://www.powerbookmedic.com/xcart1/product.php?productid=16893&cat=0&page=1
From what they say, it looks like you do have the LED model.
PowerBook Medic is a good resource, as you can determine exactly what you need and get a baseline price for what it might cost.
    Good luck!

  • Motherboard replacement for G62

I have an HP G62 laptop computer. It stopped working a few months ago so I bought anothe laptop.
There is a blue led light that blinks once every 3 seconds which apparently means the motherboard has been damaged or is not functioning.
I am wondering if I can replace and upgrade the motherboard to get the thing working again. I don't want to just replace with a like for like but would like to upgrade to a better processor etc at the same time if the cost is not too much.
Is there a list of motherboards that will fit in the case of this laptop that I can consider purchasing?
Does this make sense as a project or would I be wasting my time and effort?
The case and the monitor are in excellent shape so I  would like to consider this as a project. I have put together desktop PCs before but not upgraded a laptop.

  • Wrong Motherboard Model Number in BIOS won't let Recovery CD run

    Hello all,
Scoured the internet for an answer, and haven't found anything to help, so I thought I'd ask here. Trying to resurrect an old Toshiba Satellite P100 of mine.
I'm trying to reformat it with the Windows XP Professional SP3 recovery disc (ancient OS, I know; don't ask why I'm using it, just am) that came with my laptop.
However, it won't run because the motherboard model number in my BIOS is wrong. I get the following message:
"This Recovery and Applications CD is not configured to work with this machine (ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ)
This CD is for: Satellite P100,Satellite P105
Please use the correct Recovery and Applications CD"
That series of y's with umlauts is what's showing as the mainboard model number in CPU-Z. I know what my actual number is, and that definitely ain't it. I've run this same recovery disc on this very motherboard before and it worked no problem. I don't really know why the model number would have changed since then.
I've tried resetting BIOS and flashing new BIOS as well, and nothing changes the model number to the correct one. Is there any way that I can correct it?
I know that I have a bad RTC battery/CMOS battery. I'm not sure if that could have caused the model number change. All I can tell so far is that it's messing with the BIOS time, but I didn't know if it could have changed the model number. I can't just replace it because apparently the battery is soldered to the motherboard for p100/p105 models, and if I have to buy a new motherboard then I think I'll just give up.
The laptop is obviously out of warranty, so it's not like I can send it to a certified Toshiba repair center or anything. I'd like to use my recovery disk to reinstall XP Pro with all the original drivers and programs since there are a few on there that I'd have to pay for otherwise to reinstall since they didn't come with product keys. If there is any other way to format and reinstall to factory settings without the cd, I'm open to it and would must appreciative.
    Thanks!

    Satellite P100 (PSPA3U-09G01X)

Unfortunately, Toshiba does not supply the utility that fixes the DMI string for your model. (It would be like this one.) Toshiba expects you to take it to a dealer for resetting.
If you have or obtain a Windows XP installation CD, I can help you with installation.

My hard drive needs to be replaced and I am looking to do it myself. However, I am in need of the model number of my MacBook Pro. The issue with this is, it has been worn off. My MacBook Pro is a 13" Mid-2009 model.

  • Satellite Pro A300D - What is the model number for the keyboard?

My husband managed to dislodge a keycap on my keyboard, and broke the white scissor clip that holds hit on...(don't ask me how)
He spoke to the authorised service centre here in Norway, and they sent us replacement scissor clips (actually they sent an old non-functioning keyboard) but the clips are of a different design to the ones on my laptop.
I was wondering if anyone has an idea of the model/serial number of the keyboard used in the Satellite Pro A300D-151 (PSAK9E) so I can get the correct replacement part.
I really don't want to have to replace the whole keyboard when it's just 1 of the scissor clips that is broken...the laptop is only 5 months old.
Here are some photos of the scissor clip in question & the where it attaches to the keyboard (sorry about the quality)

    Hi
Sorry buddy but its not possible to exchange some single keys on a keyboard so in this case you must replace the complete keyboard. But normally this should not be so difficult.
Either you exchange the keyboard yourself or you sent the notebook to the authorized service provider.
The model number for the keyboard is not known to me but contact your ASP!! They can order all Toshiba parts and they should know the right part number.
