Dv9000 pavillion ac cord

i have a dv9000 and have had the motherboard replaced twice in 2 years.  besides being told that there have been problems with this model, I've noticed that when I'm running it using the ac cord the box on the cord gets "extremely" hot.  sometimes the system stops operating from it on its own and i wonder if this is what has fried by motherboard.  anybody else experience this as an issue?  this is my original battery, could there be a problem with the charging of it??

  • HP Pavillion DV9705ea (DV9000 series) CD/DVD not showing - Cannot boot from CD/DVD - BIOS issues!

    All,
I'm having some issues here with a HP Pavillion DV9705ea machine (DV9700). I'm looking at this for a client. It had Vista home and it dropped the DVD - Wasn't in Device manager either. I checked the drivers and the Microsoft 'Fix It' man, which my client had used (Automated Troubleshooting Services) had put some random, unrelated driver in there. I removed the driver and restored the original, but to no avail.
After much playing within the OS, I managed to convince my client that a rebuild was a good idea - Both to fix this, and a great opportunity for a refresh. I managed to coax them into a Windows 7 upgrade, cool - Or so I thought.
I backed-up all of the data, popped the disk in and attempted to boot. Nothing. The machine is unaware of the DVD. Odd. I managed to ruin the Vista build on the HDD - This was partly because I was sure it was about to be wiped and partly because I wasn't exactly careful when moving data within it and powering it down incorrectly due to freezing! Academic, Vista is gone.
I attempted to boot the recovery manager, using F11 - This worked. However, it throws a zig-zag'ed, stripy screen at around 70%. Have tried this several times.
I booted from a USB HDD and ran a version of VistaPE to update the BIOS from 'F2; to 'F32'. Although this was a success, the DVD is still not recognised. I have used an independantly powered Lenovo USB CD/DVD Burner to boot from and have had no joy.
I took a second HDD, popped it into a different shell and built XP on it. I then put this in the Pavilion and booted - Got the message "Operating System Not Found". I have used my USB HDD again and booted a partition manager, I can see the HDD from here, no problems. I can also see them from VistaPE.
Going forwards - I am going to remove the DVD drive from the machine and attempt to boot from my external drive. I'm in abit of a corner at the moment as all roads arrive at the same destination - Fail.
I'm thinking 3rd party driver required? Any thoughts surrounding this would be helpful!
If anyone can shed any light on the issue, fantastic - If not, well, then it'll be an RMA for my client as this machine is out of warranty as of Feb 2009.
    Cheers, Mike.

    Hello,
Its just to let you know that HP laptop are the worst in the world they have a Graphics chip error in almost every model especially in DV6000 and otherDV. Then, DVD/CD does not detect at all and its all motherboard hardware error. As, i do repairing myself I tried to resold all the joints for the connector for the DVD/CD it worked but as i took off DVD and replug it its as good as dead its motherboard failure.
Now, about cameras DV9000 have a very big issue for failure of builtin cameras i think these both problems have some common reason as both Builtin camera and DVD connector on same side of the MOBO.
Please help People save money and time. Stop them to buy HP. A sincere request.
    Regards

  • Pavillion DV9000 bad hard drive?

I have an HP Pavillion DV9000 and I'm having some unusual problems with it. My Model number is DV9207US.
My computer recently crapped out on me and I suspect it's the hard drive. My findings for that is this.
I had a catastrophic blue screen on my computer and when rebooted failed to load windows so I ran the windows recovery for it and ran diagnostics and it corrected it's problem. Well later in the day it did it again and I tried to recover it again and it wouldn't correct it. I can't even boot this laptop in safe mode. Hard drive is partitioned and HP service techs did the partition. There is the operating system partition and a 2-3GB partition for recovery purposes. The machine will load the recovery partition no problem, from there I have many options. Recover, back up, restore etc. I've gone through numerous options and nothing seems to be working, I did successfully backup 36GB of something onto my external hard drive before I decided to just re-install the system from the recovery partition. Here's where it gets messy, computer will install windows but after initial reboot I get a screen that says "Please while windows prepares to start for the first time." It inevitably hangs up and blue screens on me.
I've done some some background reading into this so I decided to go into bios and see what might be the problem. I ran diagnostics on the drive it self and it through out an error code which I google'd and 98% of what I read was "Consider Replacement" because it's either dead or on it's way out.
I know it's not my video, because it works fine, memory is fine ran a memory checker on it. It's getting power, it makes sounds. Only thing it could be IS the hard drive.
With this being said. I'm looking for a suitable replacement for this laptop. Would someone PLEASE tell me what type of drive I should be looking for 5400RPM? 7200RPM? I really don't know. Just needs to be able to work fine in this laptop and run windows vista.

    Hiya,
If the HDD Self Test in the BIOS gave you failure code then the HDD is bad & needs to be replaced.
The current HDD you have in your notebook is a 2.5" 120GB 5400RPM SATA HDD. Because the HDD is SATA you could pick one up and many local box stores, a third party website, or from HP directly.
If you did get a 7200RPM HDD instead of another 5400RPM the different would be performance based. If you got a bigger drive (320GB instead of 120GB) the different would be the amount you could store on that specific drive.
Also if you don't have a pair make sure you pickup a set of Recovery Media to reinstall your OS after replacing the HDD.

  • Hp pavillion dv9000 onboard sound card/speakers not recognized

I have an old HP Pavillion dv9000, it has been with me for a while.  I took it with me to Iraq back in 2007-2008 and it has a lot of sentimental value to me.  I don't currently have the funds to replace it, and it still works quite well for my needs as a full-time student; however, last week I moved into a new apartment and discovered that for whatever reason it no longer recognizes its onboard sound card or speakers.  Additionally, sound no longer works through the headphones, and I've also attempted to update drivers but it made no difference.  There is a red circle x over the speaker icon in the tray and I recieve a "No Audio Output Device is installed" message when I scroll over it.  I'm running on Windows Vista and the speakers worked fine just last week.  Lastly, I attempted to find the sound card myself to see if perhaps it needed reseating, but I had no idea where to look.  Any help to resolve this issue would be greatly appreciated.

    Hello fredo5,
Please take a look at the troubleshooting steps in this document, and let me know if it helps resolve your sound issues.
    Good luck!

  • Replacing overheated HP Pavillion DV9000 motherboard with Windows 7 capable motherboard?

I have a HP Pavillion DV9000 laptop (P/N RU971UA#ABA) that was given to me to fix the black screen problem, about one and half years ago.  I tried once the reflow method on youtube to no avail.  This laptop came with Vista Home Premium installed, with 2 GB memory.  I want to purchased a new upgradable motherboard that will fit my original case, but has the capabilies of upgrading to Windows 7, 64-Bit, and at least 4 GB of memory.  If there is no such motherboard, I want a permanent fix to this motherboard.  This laptop boots up as normal, ( correct beeps), but without the screen.  Can someone suggest a fix or repair shop?

First let me thank you for your response.  So now, I'm stuck with a beautiful HP laptop, that can't be fixed, and HP will not assist with a overheating problem that they created with it's design of this model.  This truly feels suckey.  Poor HP, everyone who brought this model should be given a refund.  So, it's pay for amother DV9000 motherboard or buy another laptop?  I'm going to do some research and write a few letters, and see what that will get me.  Thank you again.
That won't do much for the laptop since you already did the reflow and it failed. You should look on ebay for another board that was properly fixed and buy that and swap out your board. At least that way you will still have a functional laptop to be used for now til you go and by another laptop that doesn't have this history of problems.

  • HP Pavillion Notebook, Help

I have a HP Pavillion dv9000 notebook,  it completely died on me a few months ago so i had it sent in and i've had it back for maybe 6-7 months and now it won't charge. I have to wiggle the connection when its plugged on just to get it to charge, its been like this for about 2 months now, I don't know if its the cord that is faulty or the connection point, or perhaps both. Not only that my computer is at the point where it won't even turn on anymore, when I do it gives me a message saying it failed to start and I can run system recovery or just normal start- up, however I can't keep it on long enough to do the recovery mode, does anyone know what is going on? Or has anyone with the same computer, had similar problems. Does anyone know how I can fix both of these problems; I am aware i will need to replace either the cord or the connection terminal, I just need to know which one.

If you can get your hands on an extra adapter that you know works, you can test it to see if it is indeed the adapter you have been using, but it sounds as if you have damaged the plug socket and caused a short. It's a VERY easy thing to do. People often do it when they put their notebook down on a table or pick it up improperly.
