DV9026us Motherboard Upgrade?

My laptop motherboard went out just after the warranty expired. At the time I had 2 laptops so I just shelved it until now. Instead of just buying a replacement motherboard I was wondering if any other models were combatable. I really was just hoping to get more then 2gb max RAM that this one had, but would be pleased if that meant just a little more CPU and better graphics card. Am I out of luck or can you wise HP Guru's point me in the right direction.

Unlike the Desktop computers, Notebook computers have a more sophisticated and complicated design. It is not very difficult to find a motherboard with a better specification; however, it is very difficult to find a motherboard with the same form-factor that would actually fit into the HP dv series Notebook that you own. So it is always better to get the motherboard replaced rather than trying to upgrade it.
However, if you would really like to install a better motherboard in this computer, then you will need to remove the factory installed motherboard from this unit and take it along with you while placing the order for new one. This way you can compare the form-factor of the factory shipped motherboard with the new one that you are trying to purchase… This is just a suggestion…

I am going to be honest here. The chances of upgrading those components is very low and not very likely to work with that notebook case.
A second generation Core i5/i7 process is two generations away from the current processor which will require a motherboard upgrade. I'm certain you are aware of this since you mention upgrading the CPU and the motherboard. This is an issue since the case for the notebook was specifically matched to the motherboard it came with. It is possible that finding one that supports what you want and fits that case will be challenging. It can also add up in cost and risk. Risk being the components just don't work or a different feature of the notebook doesn't work any more.
I did do some research to find other posts, in this forum and outside this forum, where others have successfully changed those components. I found plenty on replacing it with the same motherboard, but none that were specifically upgrading it. Perhaps I did not use the right search terms. Notebooks are generally intended to be as they are configured with limited upgrades available for the hard drive and RAM.

Imac 17" core 2 duo 1.83Ghz motherboard upgrade

My imac 17" core 2 duo 1.83Ghz motherboard happened video problem, I am going to buy a 17" core 2 duo 2Ghz motherboard from ebay to upgrade/replace the bad motherboard. The bad motherboard parts is 280-1919-A, the 2Ghz motherboard parts is 280-2052-A. I am no sure if the 2Ghz motherboard can use 1.83Ghz motherboard fan, heatsink, power supply etc.
Anybody can give me advice?

First off, buying a used or reconditioned logic board off e-bay sounds very risky.
Second there is no guaranty that it will even fit or work in that educational 17" model, besides the Graphic's Chip, the Optical Drives and Airport cards just to mention two biggies are also different.

Lastly I'm not sure how much that Logic Board is going to cost you, but if anything else doesn't fit or something happens to another component it could end up costing you more to patch up that 5 year old 17" iMac than the price of a new or refurbished 21.5".

CPU and Motherboard upgrade for Premiere Elements 11

Hi all. Been perusing the Premiere Elements and Pro forums but still have a few questions.
I’m upgrading Premiere Elements from PrE9 to PrE11 and am upgrading some of my desktop’s hardware at the same time. I could use some advice about choosing a CPU, graphics card, and motherboard. The goal of this upgrade is to considerably speedup transcoding without breaking the bank. The budget’s a bit flexible but I’d like to keep it at or under $500 for the motherboard/CPU combo.
The computer will be used for editing and transcoding AVCHD videos. The videos are shot in either 1080i or 1080p using a Panasonic HDC-TM700.
I’m processing about 2-3 hours of video per week and my current system takes a long time to transcode. For example, it takes well over 3 hours to convert 1 hour of AVCHD video to wmv. An Intel Core 2 Quad Q8300 with 3 GB of RAM was fine for the occasional video, but it’s too slow for what’s currently needing to be processed.
New CPU:
At this point I’m looking at the following processors:
i5 3570K
Ivy Bridge
No hyper threading
i7 2600K
Sandy Bridge
hyper threading
i7 3770K
Ivy Bridge

Questions:
) Does PrE11 make use of hyper threading?
) If PrE11 doesn’t use hyper threading is there much of anything to be gained by getting the i7? The i5 is about $90- $100 cheaper than the i7 CPUs and seems pretty quick.
New Motherboard:
I’ve had good luck overclocking Asus motherboards, so I’m leaning towards getting another one, but am open to alternatives.
The choice of board will depend mainly on Intel’s northbridge chip:
Ivy Bridge – Z77 chip
Sandy Bridge – Z68 chip
Question:
) Are there any other northbridge chip/CPU combos I should be looking at?
Current Graphics Card:
nVidia Geforce 8400 GS 512 MB DDR2
Drivers are up to date and downloaded from nVidia.
Question:
) Since PrE11 doesn’t use the graphics card’s GPU, will it be okay to continue using this card for the new build? I’m not a gamer and this card works just fine for the current build.

I have been going through the same process. Yes PE does support multiple threads and definatley go with the ivybridge i7 cpu. Asus is also the board I'm going with. They have made OCing much easier but be careful of high temps that leads to early failure of the cpu . Most of them let you have a maximum of 32 gig of ram and with memory so cheap check out upgrading to a higher grade memory. This can be overclocked as well. One of the ivy bridge cpus has 6 cores but cost $500 plus and requires a more expensive MB as well. too expensive for me though. I believe the built in graphics processor in the i7 k series the HD4000 is enough for PE. For about $650 I got an i7 at Microcenter for $229 and I think they just lowered the price to $200 an Asus MB at Newegg for $140 and 16gig ram for $70 also check out SSD drives in the 128 gig range are about $100 which you could use for you C: drive maybe take it up to 256 gig for more. They are getting pretty cheap

DV6000(DV6145eu) Motherboard upgrade

I have a DV6000(DV6145eu)
I got it from a family member because the motherboard got fried due to liquid damage, which only got spilt on connectors(usb, vga ports etc) and a little on the edge of the board.
My question is, should i jus stick with the this model(433280-001) motherboard which is amd, or should i upgrade to something better.
If i can upgrade, which motherboard will fit directly without changing or modding anything, like fans, internal connectors, heatsink etc. must be direct fit
Looking for a reliable motherboard, Not too expensive as compared to the old one. preferably with better graphics and hdmi port, Nothing over the top

It's not like a buffet where you can choose your motherboard from a long list of possible options. It is more like the Army chow line where you take what they dish out and keep the line moving. You can and should use a direct replacement of the same type of motherboard. This will allow you to reuse the old processor. As I have posted here before you can also use the Intel based motherboard from the same series of laptops, ie the dv6000-6499. But then you also have to get a processor and the replacement is just a bit more difficult.
While the Intel motherboard is marginally more reliable than the AMD, all dv6000s have had serious issues so all the motherboards are somewhat suspect.
You can get an AMD motherboard for around $100-125 on eBay. These tend to be previously failed motherboards that Chinese shops have repaired by reflowing the chips with a heat process. I have installed a few of them and have one that has now lasted over 90 days. I would spend $100 +/- to fix it because odds are you will get another year to 18 months out of the replacement motherboard and that is fair rent on the laptop for that period of time. If you have to spend over $200 for a motherboard and processor (Intel) I think the economics start to weigh in favor of a new laptop.

firstly you need to be clear as to whether you want any future upgrades or not(namely a graphics card,in the case of which a power supply upgrade would also be needed)
assuming you only need a cpu and mobo upgrade i must say that 150$ is a little low for upgrading both...a decent cpu comes at that price...
for the cpu id recommend,firstly ,something from intel as they last longer than their amd counterparts...you could look at the following-

Hi, if the iMac you have listed in your sig is the iMac you are planning on doing the MB swap then you
probably won't get it to work since the motherboard and cabling is quite a bit different. It will not be a straight swap at least from what I can see since I just had an iMac 1GHz apart for a repair and upgrade.
First, the heat pipe pads are different. I believe yours will only have the one contact point while the 1GHz MB has two.
Also you have two cables plus HD/CD ribbon cable from the top to the motherboard while the 1GHz has a single connector which is entirely different than the ones you have. Even the power cable looks different....
I only have pix up on my website for the older 700MHz as I just got the 1GHz yesterday but from what I can see it won't work.

P6804 Motherboard Upgrade

I have an HP p6804 desktop computer that I was wanting to run Flight Simulator X on. I need to upgrade the motherboard in order to upgrade the video card. Does anyone know a list of compatible motherboards that will work, if any?

The End of Life Cycle has finally struck your a1520n (circa 2006) WIN XP machine. As WIN XP is no longer supported by Microsoft updates, it would be foolish to persue any build based on WIN XP, IMHO. The processor is based on the 939 chip, and the max upgrade is only 15% in speed, but that chip is no longer stocked. (based on search by other members). If you only have 1GB of otherboard RAM, then a meager upgrade to four 1GB modules will give you some limited increase in potential. Cost $46 plus shipping.
Now that you have been told this scenerio, let's be adaptive: You can still go to WIN7 (valid until 2020)

(2) The a1520n driver page supports WIN 7 32 bit (that is all you need with the added RAM modules.

T42 Motherboard upgrade

Can I upgrade the motherboard in the t42 to a duel core like the core 2 duo ?

It would require so many upgrades and squeezing to negate the point.
Your existing T42 Cardbus / Express controllers won't fit, the NIC and Modem cable aren't long enough to reach the newer motherboard connector but the big obstacle is retrofitting the older T42 LCD. The nlarger 90w power socket is a tight squeeze into the older T4x socket and the entire idea is foolish.
Typically, it is a safe bet to downgrade LCD's to the embedded graphics controllers, so installing a T43 with the top option Radeon Card into a T42 was assured LCD display, but trying to upgrade the slower T42 board into the crisper T43 LCD was unlikely (although some credible tweakers have accomplished to do so with extensive trial and error).
However, if your LCD and graphics card combination becomes too disparate the incompatibilities can be as insurmountable as using the wrong RAM speed, typically you can always use the next level of faster RAM since it is designed to downclock to a slower board but trying to insert a 4300 speed DIMM into a 2700 slot would wreak some havoc in most cases.

Hp dv2700 motherboard upgrades

Can I upgrade the motherboard on my up dv2700 and if so what are the possibilities?

When requesting assistance, please provide the complete model name and/or product number of the HP computer in question. HP/Compaq makes about 150 different models of the dv2700 series. Without this information it may be difficult or impossible to assist you in resolving your issue.
The above requested information can be found on the bottom of your computer or inside the battery compartment. Please do not include your serial number.
There appears to be 5 different system boards use in the dv2700 series. There doesn't seem to be any upgrades except maybe the possibility of a system board with discrete graphics. This is basically the same old board with better graphics and even then it may only be a possibility. The cold hard facts are, that laptop/notebook computers aren't designed to be upgraded and system boards must be custom fit to the case. I would say there is very little chance of upgrading the system board in the computer.
