My Notebook dv9715nr suddenly only blinks on for 2 seconds and off for 5 seconds fan goes on and off but will not power on. No image on the screen.

It looks like a graphics or a display issue try to connect a External monitor or TV and see if it works.

My fan is pulsing on and off

Once my CPU get up to 60°C my CPU fan turns on until it gets down to 45-ish, which takes about 20 seconds. Then it turns off all together for 2 minutes until reaches 60°C again, at which point the cycle repeats. Is this normal behavior? Can I tell it to like.. run at 10% speed so that it keep itself cool rather than pulsing on at full speed once it reaches a certain temperature?

According to the arch wiki on fan speed control, I should be able to read the current fan speed in "/sys/class/hwmon/hwmon0/device/fan1_input", however, that file does not exist.

Try to Reset your device:
Press and hold both the Sleep/Wake button and the Home button for at least ten seconds, until the Apple logo appears (ignore the Slide to Power Off option that shows up first.
If that does not help, then try a Restore.

Using DAQ generate a 38kHz on an analog output on and off for ms using labVIEW

I wish to generate a 38kHz pulse on an analog output of a mydaq to drive a infrared led. The 38kHz signal is not continuous but is on for 1ms and off for 1ms.

Hi pat,
you generate a waveform using 38kHz as sample rate and a rectangular shape of 1ms HIGH level and 1ms LOW level. Using some simple math you will notice you need 38 samples at 38Khz to output a value for 1ms…
Then you just output that waveform on a AO channel.

Sound Blaster Arena Headphones Problem - On and Off

I have a problem with my Sound Blaster Arena Headset. Its been working perfectly until yesterday. It keeps turning on and off in the playback devices but it stays off unless I replug the USB or switch USB ports. Then shortly after it works again it turns off again. When it says "No audio output device installed" on the list of playback devices, there is a static noise coming out of the headphones like a beat of a pulse. I tried reinstalling numerous times and still no difference. I also tried plugging in the USB in the back of the computer, but with same results, the headset becomes "unplugged" again. Yo, if you ever come back here(you last visited in March) We can probably help one another. The wires you are talking about are:
red/blue = V+ or volume up
red/green = MIC switch on/off
green/copper = G (ground for the LED)
FULL red = L or left earphone. I have this associated with tp7.
I have no wires connected to my circuit board. I have been using trial an error to identify what goes where. However I have been given ONE godsend. When the wires were ripped from the circuit board the white sheathed wire left a little section on the circuit board identifying it as tp5.
IF all you have is the four missing connections you could easily use trial n error. Touching the missing wires to each node.
for the mic switch. Open up ventrilo and get it listening for the mic.
process of elimination. Then you can do volume up. or get the led working by touching the ground to the nodes(possibly the easiest)
I'm going back to the drawing board with the the red wire.

Measure Pulse Width and Period Statistics

I'm trying to solve what should be a very simple problem. I would like to measure common characteristics of a binary analog voltage input, pulse width and period. The canned pulse width/duty cycle/period VIs and express VIs use a histogram or peak to peak method on a set buffer size of data and produce one output. I would like to measure these signal characteristics over a long period of time and collect statistics on pulse width and period data (max, min, median, mean, standard deviation, etc.) to indirectly measure the eccentricity of a system. Although I am relatively inexperienced in LabView scraping off a considerable bit of rust, I did not think this task would present a challenge, but I have been stumbling around for a couple of days trying to create an array of output parameters such as pulse width so that I may calculate the statistics on all measurements.
If anyone can step me through some of the thought process to a solution or show me how to format data collection so that this can be done, I would very much appreciate the help.

Hi Gena,
I am assuming you are using the DAQmx drivers in LabVIEW for your
PCI-6014. Avoiding a While loop may be difficult if you need to
perform this measurement many times and you might not know when the
signal is going to begin. Without a While loop, you'll have to
set up your timeout period long enough so the pulses will begin before
your VI stops.
With this in mind, you may want to look at some of the shipping
examples with the DAQmx driver. You can find these in LabVIEW's
Help menu by going to Find Examples. For measuring the pulse
width, browse the folders in the Example finder by going to Hardware
Input and Output>>DAQmx>>Counter Measurements>>Period
or Pulse Width. In this folder, there is the Meas Pulse Width.vi,
which measures the pulse width once and stops. You should be able
to take the pulse width measurement you get from here and check to see
if it's in your range, then output a pulse on the other counter if it
is in the range. The pulse output examples can be found in
Hardware Input and Output>>DAQmx>>Generating Digital
Pulses>>Gen Dig Pulse.vi.

How do I turn a solenoid on and off?

The hardware is as follows:
Labview 2009
PCI-MIO-16E-1
SCB-68 shielded I/O connector block
My job is to create a program that can work as a base from which we can create more complicated programs. I am new to Labview. I have watched some youtube tutorial videos and have a basic understanding of the program operation. I built a program that reads voltage values as you rotate a potentiometer, very complex I know, as a training exercise. From that, I see how to acquire data from an input. The next step is to write a program that turns on and turns off a solenoid via a button. Once I have that down, I can figure out more complex methods of turning it on and off using timing, pressure, etc.
I tried looking at some of the code from other projects, but it isn't clear what is going on. I keep searching for an example online, but I the examples are all beyond my level of understanding. Any help would be appreciated. Even if you just point me to a site that has step by step examples.

there you will find an array of buttons that output a digital TTL signal to port0, lines0-7 of your Daq
next question: does your solenoid take a TTL signal as an input? If not, you will need a driver like a ULN2003
you can use your AI to measure your pressure then use LV to algorithmically manipulate your DO's

There is no Digital Output in Daqmx. The sub folders are: Alog Gen, Alog Meas., Control, Counter Meas., Dig Generation, Dig Handshaking, Digital Meas., Events, Generating Dig Pulses. I assume we're talking Digital Generation. In that folder there are two that look like they might work: Write_Dig_Chan.vi and Write_Dig_Port.vi. They are write digital output to channel and port, respectively.
I should mention I have a VI that works and turns on the valve, but I don't know what it is doing. I think I have a lot of reading ahead of me. There is a lot of vocabulary that I'm unfamiliar with, despite my larger than average vernacular.
I'm going to start reading and come back here once I have a good foundation of what everything does.

You should certainly be able to add content by reference to itunes from such a disk (even before the update) - so long as itunes knows the location of the file (set Preferences not to copy to local library when adding the media) it will stream it to AppleTV if the disk is available.
I hope you're right, but I'd be surprised if current Extremes can be upgarded to provide a full Home Sharing service - marvellous if they can but I'd be surprised as i've long said we need an Apple media server either based on TC or AE to do this kind of thing.

Try switching it back from landscape to vertical. Or, go to settings and see if you have any special setting turned on that enable only landscape view. Also, try hooking it up to your computer and charging it to see what happens.

Computer shuts on and off some corrupted files - no virues now

Listed below are some of the errors I found on event log in the laptop:
I have a Qosimo 8 megs of memory, windows 7 64 bit. Running AVAST 7.0 antivirus and Malwarebytes - both paid subscriptions. I think the model number is 830 530 I bought in 2009.
The shutdown problem has
been happening on and off for the last six months. I had two major instances of trojans taking over my machine and it caused constant shutdowns. AVAST worked with me on one and they had me use malwarebytes and spybot and hijack this. They took over my computer to get it up and running properly, but this new round of errors a trojan was found in the registry key and the startuptoolbar. Two nights ago I had another shut down several times and after running malwarebytes and antivirus I could find no errors so I’m leaning toward corrupted files? Is there anyway to fix these files without having to reformat the hard drive?
I did run a computer repair and a computer memory repair tonight using F8 and no problems were found by the computer. I’m not sure what to do with these errors in event viewer.. I get the toshiba error
quite often and it madely stops me from going online with my internet connection, and I had downloaded a newer version but same problem – I use windows repair in network and the error is always resetting the toshiba network IP. I just put a note into toshiba on that problem.
I also use microsoft silverlight for my fenderfuse application which needs that software operate properly. I’m not sure exactly what to do with that Custom dynamic link libraries are being loaded for every application. It states to check libraries – but what am I checking for? I do not have a lot of programs on the laptop but not sure what to look for in library?

Sometimes my computer shuts down often on its own and I find a Trojan - other times it shuts down often during a start up and I find no viruses as was the case yesterday. Today I did not get on the internet and the computer worked fine.
I guess I need to know if there is a way to reinstall the corrupted files without having to go back to the default settings when I got the computer. Does toshiba have a windows repair disc that works better then what I did with using F8 and having a system repair and memory check done that found no errors? I also installed the latest Toshiba service station and it did not fix the error problems in events log. When I did a restore it was before this was added so now my computer is working properly with windows on connecting to the internet wireless.
Malwarebytes said that by looking at these event viewer logs that it does not appear that I have a virus now but I do have corrupted files and can toshiba help me in getting them fixed. I really hate to do a complete reformat.

I noticed that software protection stopped and then it showed software protection working. I did not get any critical stop errors like I did before but that is because I don’t have any Trojans or viruses. I ran a full scan with both Avast and Malwarebytes yesterday and no problems.

I don't know how serious this probems are - I didn't like seeing the software security being stopped. But then it started up. I have copied everything personal on this laptop so I am ready to reformat if needed.
I still have the problem about IE not opening links unless I right button click to open it. I also had to make a separate ID to run Fender Fuse software as this computer was not recognizing the USB slot where I connect the amp to the laptop. Fender had me set up another id with minimum items and then I was able to connect to the amp and make changes.

hay all
im fairly new to this part of adobe but i have a good understanding
what i need i to be able to have check boxes that turn layers on and off when the tick is shown and when it is not
i know this is possible through scripting but i dont have the ability as of yet to carry out the scripting
is someone able to write a basic script for me or help me to understand what i need
i want the script to be for when a check box is clicked (mouse up) that a layer that was oringaly turned off to be turned on (electricalplan)
once the tick is removed i need the layer to turn off again
i need to do this for mulitple layers (about 10)
so i would just use the same script for each replacing the name with the correct name.
i also need the check boxes to work together so that i can have multiple turned on at the one time (electricalplan) (sewerplan) (waterplan)

24" imac with second display that flickers on and off randomly

Hi, I'm a n00b here, I've read a handful of threads before posting this a I cant seem to find a definitive answer.
I have a 24" 2.4Ghz aluminium iMac and I've recently purchased a HP zr24w 24" IPS panel as a second display, connected with an apple miniDVI - DVI connector.
The screen flickers off, to totaly black every time the mac seems to be having a hard time doing something, be it fast scrolling, flash video, but someimes randomly.
I have boot camp installed with winblows vista (for work) the screen does EXACTLY the same thing, all be it less frequently. This for me rules out the Mac OS, i think it must be something video card/driver related.
Was there ever a fix for this? most of the threads seem to just die with no official answer, it would appear that MBP users were ok until the last 10.6.3 update, when the problem seems to have returned, although i think thats a different issue with the same net effect.
I have spoken to apple care and the very helpful girl I spoke to send me some logging software which I've run and sent the logs back, that may help them out someway.
Any help would be GREAT !!

well, some time has passed, here's where I'm at so far.
I tried a friend's samsung 24" screen and all was good with the world, no flickering on and off, no black outs nothing, for days it was all fine. I swapped the HP monitor back on and it went right back to its old ways. I called HP tech support, they decided that the monitor was faulty, i returned it to where I got it from and they have sent me a new one. Which was fine, for about 7 hours!!
So, to recap, the mini-DVI to DVI adapter is fine as it worked on the samsung screen, the HP screen is brand new and exhibiting the exact same issue as the first one (cant be 2 faulty ones surely) The samsung screen was fine.
This leads me to think that there is some compatibility issue between the 24" imac and this particular (hp zr24w) monitor.
I have followed apple support's requests for data logging but they cant find anything wrong there.
I'm out of ideas, any help would be GREATLY appreciated !!!

are you backing up files, or doing a Time machine backup, either way, the Time machine will STOP when finished and show "last backup at XXXXXX" meaning its done...... OR if when transferring files, it will show a progress bar on your desktop and vanish when files are copied.
Open up the Hitachi drive (your G drive is made by Hitachi, and the best made by the way).....and see if the files are there.
a MORE VISUAL way is to open the hard drive file, and drag and drop files INTO the Gdrive and you can see them visually be copied there as you do it.
To see your HD on your desktop GOTO FINDER......PREFERENCES....then GENERAL TAB.........check the box marked HARD DRIVES.........then your Gdrive will appear on your desktop........open it from there, and DRAG and drop files from anywhere INTO the Gdrive....... easy visual way to see the files being copied into the Gdrive.

HT4061 I can't use my ipad mini. All buttons are frozen including the on and off, can't even find the serial number, can't see it on the back, can't find it under settings because no buttons will work. Has anyone encountered a similar problem?

My ipad mini is frozen and won't allow me to use any buttons. I can't access settings to get the serial number for Apple Support and I can't read the serial number from the back. It's too small and shadowy. There is a message that reads "ICloud Backup--This ipad hasn't been backed up in 2 weeks. Back ups happen when this ipad is plugged in,locked, and connected to Wi-Fi."
It won't allow me to shut if off using the on and off button. I stuck a paper clip into the tiny reset button, but nothing happens.
Has anyone else had this problem? Please help,

This is the most common "fix" when devices are behaving strangely. It only takes a minute and there's no risk of lost data. This is the reason you'll see this fix being suggested so often.

Time Capsule HDD keeps cycling on and off while my Mac is sleeping

Hi guys, I'm in a bit of a hurry so just gonna post dot points:
• My Time Capsule's HDD keeps cycling on and off continuously and potentially doing heaps of damage to it's drive when my MacBook is sleeping.
• Time Machine is set to automatically backup to my time capsule.
• As soon as I wake up and log into my MacBook it seems to stop. I checked the time capsule icon immediately and it says "Preparing backup" so I assume it was stuck in that phrase.
• I assume it backs up normally after waking up
MacBook Pro Retina:
• I usually never put my MacBook to sleep by closing the screen, so can't say if this happens when it's in closed screen sleep vs open screened sleep
• I'm not sure if there's any difference between close screen sleep and open screen sleep
• It is set to go to sleep automatically after 45mins of inactivity
• My iTunes Library is stored off-device on a 2TB HDD connected to the Time Capsule

How old is the TC and on what firmware?
You have put Mountain Lion for OS.. is that still the case or upgraded to Mavericks??
There has been some issues at various times with disk spinning up ..

Is the computer set to power nap? Try turning that off.
Try unplugging the external drive with itunes library and see if that helps.
If it is TM the attempts to start the backup should be in the log.

I've got a similar problem. iTunes v10.2 worked fine, but when I tried to update it to 10.5 I got a 'Bonjour' error. I eventually solved that but I still couldn't upgrade to 10.5, so I deleted every single Apple, Quicktime, iTunes, etc file on my PC using Revo Unistaller (because the normal Windows Add/Delete programs wouldn't work) but now, when I install the latest iTunes version from scratch (on XP SP3), it says: "the installer encountered errors before it could be configured.... your system has not been modified"
Any ideas?
