Dvc 100

I was wondering if anyone has successfully got pinnacle dazzle dvc 100 running within arch linux, as far as I can tell my dev file for this is /dev/video1 since /dev/video0 is for my webcam. I tried running vlc capture mode both in webcam and also tv-analog and nothing seems to bring any kind of video

Same problem. Or worse. I don't even get /dev/video1. It only shows the audio in alsamixer. No video in sight.
I hope someone can help.

Is this possible? Can I just use Adobe to capture or do I need different software or hardware? This is for family home videos. Thank you

First, Version 13 no longer captures from a tape camera

  • Possible to install fire wire card on Envy j157cl laptop

I have a HP Envy 17 j157cl laptop that I plan to use as adedicated video editing platform. The only problem is that it doesnot have an I.link (hot wire) connector, only usb connectors. I have found a cable with USB terminal at one end and fire wire at the other. will this work? On the other hand, is there a fire wire board (card) than can be installed in the Envy 17?. The clips that I need to process now are in tape and can only be transferd to the computer via a vidio8 SOny vIdeocamera model DCR-TRV 520.

No laptops now just have no internal slots for expansion. There used to be a product called a Dazzle Video studio. I looked around for it but it seems to be out of production. It connected via usb but had S-Video component video, and firewire video input. It is a fairly big thing that looks a bit like a docking station. Have you tried the usb to firewire cable? Some people say those work other say they do not. I never tried one. I actually keep an old laptop with firewire around just for video capture from my older DV camera. Does your video camera also have an RCA or S-video output port? If so you can use this:

  • Cannot broadcast full screen games on Windows 7 64bit

I'm going to be as descriptive as possible in this. I'm running a dual-boot system (one OS Windows 7 64 bit, the other Windows XP 32 bit)
I'm using ManyCams (but i've also tried Supercam, WebcamMax, and VHscrcap) as my virtual cam on both OS and FME. I've installed both programs on both operating systems the exact same way. I use the same exact settings for both, and I've made sure my video card drivers are up to date on both. Whenever I try to broadcast to any website (I'll use Justin.tv for this question) On the Windows 7 64 bit OS, i can capture my whole screen and everything just fine, until i go into a full screen game. I dont mean a game that's in windowed mode and taking up the whole screen, i mean a game that's running in full screen mode. The entire screen is black on the stream, but not on my monitor (obviously) until i alt-tab out of the game. Then the stream is fine and it's my desktop again. I can't capture my full screen games on my Windows 7 64bit OS. If I try this the exact same way on my XP 32 bit, it works fine with 0 problems.
Just to rule these out, it's not a problem with my internet or my specs. Take my word for it.
So, any takers on this? Is it just completely unfixable on W7 64bit or is there just something i'm missing here.
    Thanks

At least you can broadcast at all I have been trying pretty much all day to get mine to stop crashing whenever I try to use my Dazzle dvc 100.. and yes I'm using windows 7 64 bit.. It worked on my old labtop that was Vista..and it still works on that but its too slow.. and its frustrating when I know I have everything I need installed and it wont work on my new labtop ._.

  • Dazzle Record with Fios

I'm Recording my TV with my Dazzle DVC 100 and the video comes up and everything but there is no sound....
Do I need splitters? if so can you tell me which one
    Thanks in advance

hi, I ended up looking up what the Dazzle DVC 100 is, and it looks like it needs at least two audio cables for sound (both red and white) and then that is converted to audio to your PC with a USB conversion.
So you just need the red and white cables from the set top box (or device you are recording) and make sure that they are firmly plugged in at both ends (one end being the set top box, the other end being the Dazzle DVC 100)
From there, you are fine, but if you are not getting sound, then you are going to have to play with the settings on the PC for the dazzle, maybe even reload the drivers.    As long as you are physically hooked up right, then it becomes a software issue with the sound.  Dazzle support might be better able to tell you what tricks of the trade there are, with regards to sound

  • My dazzle drivers won't install

I have a Dazzle DVC 100 and it plugs in and the laptop (HP Pavillion TouchSmart, Windows 8) scans it fine. However when i try and update the drivers it won't install even though i have the right drivers downloaded! When i try to install the drivers by
their wizards it comes up with an error screen that says that the install was interupted. Please help!

    Hi,
What is the detailed error message? And anything valuable recorded in the event?
    You can first try:
    Temporarily turn off security software.
    Re-download the driver, install again.
If fail again, Install the driver in safe mode:
Start your computer in safe mode

And just as ZigZag3143x said, it is also recommended to contact pinnacle support.

  • Video Capture Compatibility

Does anyone know of external USB video capture devices (by make and model please) that are known to work with FME3.0? I am currently using a Dazzle DVC 100, which does not appear to work with FME3.0

Does anyone have any insight into this issue?
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

  • Capturing from VHS

I want to capture some old VHS tapes and am looking at the Canopus ADVC55.
    1. With this device connected, will it work like a DV deck with FCP, enabling me to fast forward and rewind from the capture now window? Will it be easily recognized by FCP?
    2. I no longer even own a VCR and need to borrow one from somebody. I'm guessing that the quality of the VCR will play a large role in the captured video. Can anyone recommend some key features (minimum number of heads, etc.) I should look for in a VCR for good playback while capturing.
    Thanks!

    1. With this device connected, will it work like a DV deck with FCP, enabling me to fast forward and rewind from the capture now window? Will it be easily recognized by FCP?
No, you cannot control your analog VCR from FCP. You must set Log&Capture for Non controllable device and use Capture Now mode.
I have a DVC-100 and works prefect with FCP. Never heard about problems with these devices in the forums.
    Hope that helps !

  • FME and dazzle

I just bought the dazzle dvc 100 series [dazzle dvd recorder] Im attempting to get the audio from the dazzled but there is no source on the drop down menu.
I'm on vista home premium with sp1
    Which should be working!
I tried the capture card on xp and behold the drop down menu it appeared. Is there any work around? Or no?
    Thanks
And yes I installed the software that came with it.

Same problem.....except I tried it on both Vista and XP.  Although the audio device shows on XP, I'm still getting no audio.  Talked to Dazzle (Avid) and they told me that it is a program-specific device and is not made to work with other software.  I'm not sure if this is final or if there is another way around it with having to spend $150 on a PCI capture card.

  • Premiere Elements 9 audio issue

Hi, i have an audio issue with Premiere Elements 9.
I just purchased a Dazzle DVC 100. I've captured Video/Audio through Pinnacle Studio no problems.
But when I try to capture in PE9 I only get Video. I have changed every setting i could find under the
audio preferences menus, tried every combination i could but still no audio. Am i missing something?
    Thanks for any help forwarded!
These are the settings i tried.
edit - project settings - playback settings - I've clicked both Desktop Audio/External Device Audio
edit - preference - audio hardware - Default Device - Premiere Elements WDM Sound
ASIO Settings - Input - Realtek Digital Input (selected)
                                                                                                      - Output - Speakers (Realtek High Definition Audio) (selected)
                                                                                                                    - Realtek Digital Output (Realtek High Definition Audio) (selected)
Tried the Default Device: Asio4All v2 setting
This comes up with 2 options Realtek High Def Audio and Dazzle DVC100 Audio Device
I have selected both these still no audio.
    I'm stumped.

Unfortunately the Dazzle is one of those low-end capture units that are pretty much made to work with the video editor that comes with them. Even converting the video won't make it more compatible with Premiere Elements.
As I explain in my books as well as in the FAQs to the right of this forum, the best devices for capturing video for editing your PC are called DV bridges. The best value is the ADS Pyro AV Link, available for about $100 online.
    http://forums.adobe.com/thread/431853?tstart=0
The video it captures load right into Premiere Elements and edit beautifully!

  • Fixing Video

I have a video of a video game that i recorded with a Dazzle DVC 100 (using a mac program called videoglide). This problem occurs on both Mac and PC. Its just the way my capture card is.
Anyway, here's a screenshot of the video when a lot of action is going on:

You see those lines that make the video look a bit choppy? I would like those gone if at all possible. Is there a way I can fix this?

  • Export Quicktime from a DVC Pro HD 720p60 Project

I've read the discussions and am still looking for some solid answers on this and /or confirmation that I've done it correctly.
I'm working in a DVC Pro HD 720p60 project
Sequence setting frame size is 960x720
(no I don't know what it was shot on)
The cuts are :30 spots and I'm looking to do 2 things for my producer.
    1) export the spots so that he can compress them as desired for his reel on his website, for which I've done the following:
    File - Export - Quicktime Conversion - Settings, H.264, size 1920x1080
Is this the best way to do this?
    2) export the spots so that he can add them to his reel when he wants to on dvd, for which I've done the following:
I created a new DV50 project and cut the spots into them.
File - Export - Quicktime Movie - Current Settings
    I also tried:
    File - Export - Quicktime Conversion - Settings, H.264
The strange thing was that the H.264 on this looked better than the quicktime movie.
    Any thoughts? Much appreciated!

Well, if you need to get it to the web guy to compress as he sees fit, then you will need to provide him with...well, what he wants. You need to ask him (her) what they want you to give to them.
And the dimensions would be 1280x720. 960x720 is squeezed anamorphically. and going to 1920x1080 is makig it bigger than the original.
As for the H.264 for DVD. Compressing it like that, then compressing again for DVD...icky. It looks better? Well then, maybe it darkened or brightened the footage as it compressed it. You might consider color correcting your main footage if you like that look.
And you weren't in a DV or DVCPRO 50 project, you were in a DVCPRO HD project. Why cut it in a one of those settings? it won't look any better, in fact, it will look worse. And compressing it for DVD ro the web wouldn't be any easier. Sorry, I guess I don't understand your reasoning here.
DV 50 isn't what it was shot nor edited at. It is DVCPRO HD...DVCPRO 100. Export self contained using sequence settings and it is EXACTLY the same quality as the original footage in the timeline.

  • Exporting of DVC Pro HD 10801i continues to fail

I have an 8 minute sequence in Final Cut that is DVC PRO HD 1080i. I tried using compressor to export, using this setting. I did a test of a short piece of the sequence and it exported fine and looked beautiful. It even solved a jerking problem that I had when I had tried using Apple Pro Res 422 for export. But when I tried to export the ENTIRE 8 minute sequence using the DVC PRO HD 1080i setting it FAILED each of the 4 attempts. I cannot see why it fails. Why won't this setting work for the entire sequence? I have over 100 GB of free space on the target. Is there a way I can use this setting? If not, what setting would you recommend for the best quality output? Is using Pro Res 422 in compressor the same as using it as an export choice from within Final Cut directly? Thank you so much in advance.

According to specs here - http://www.panasonic.com/business/provideo/AJ-HD1400.asp
It says - IEEE 1394 input/output interface transfers DVCPRO HD native video to NLE systems without image quality degradation
So the answer should be yes. However, are you on the PC or Mac? With Windows 7, some cameras/decks don't work well with the default 1394 driver, but will work if you switch to the "Legacy" driver already in Windows. Something to keep in mind.
The deck has the 6-pin 1394 connector, not the smaller 4-pin usually found on camcorders, so be sure to have the correct cable on hand.

  • I will give $100 to the person who can solve this problem once and for all.

I'm not even kidding, dude. We can do PayPay, I'll mail you a check, whatever you want. That is how frustrating this is, that is how badly I want it fixed, and that is how much overtime I've worked lately thanks to being shorthanded at my place of biz-nass. I'm an hombre of my word, so if you actually come up with a solution that works, the cheddar will be yours. Okay let's hit it.
It's the skipping thing. First 10-12 seconds of a song - every song - will play fine, then iTunes skips, stutters, and basically does the god **** hokey pokey and shakes it all about. It happens most notably with songs that I double-click to play, but I'm pretty much noticing it on any song now after a transition is made. I've been using iTunes for ages and this didn't happen until the upgrade to 7.3. I have poured over these forums for nearly a week, tried every solution offered (even offered one of my own that actually worked for maybe four days before the whole thing started up again) and NOTHING. To save us all some time, here's what I've tried:
    - Downgrading. I'll admit I didn't do this correctly at first. I didn't remove everything according to the support guidelines, but I went down to version 6.05 and that did nothing to quell the skipping. I upgraded back up to 7.3 because hey, why not, and attempted the remaining trial fixes. I have since removed both iTunes and Quicktime, step my step according the the guidelines, and not only have I downgraded to my current running version of 7.2, I put both of the programs on my F drive (as opposed to the default C drive), my gigantic bonus internal drive where I typically keep nothing but my giganto music library. I thought putting the app on the same drive as the music might fix things. I thought wrong. Dead wrong. Dead diddly dum iddly wrong.
    - Quicktime settings. My settings for Quicktime have always been in safe mode with the output size at 16 bits. So when I saw this "fix" I just rolled my eyes. I used to have that dealio back in the dizzle when iTunes would just get all static-y and skip when I'd open other programs or even just minimize it, so that fix worked for that, but it's nothing compared to this. In simpler terms, that fix is like Superman, and this skipping? The kryptonite. Actually that's probably not a great metaphor, but we've got a ways to go and this is going to get mucho boring if I don't throw some chuckles out there. Ready for fix three? Giddy up!
    - Turn off cross-fade? It's never been on. I never really got the appeal of that, and also I think it resulted in some minor skipping back in the d. I also attempted similar fixes like turning off the equalizer, messing with the volume, closing last.fm, REMOVING an old album art retrieval program from back before iTunes got its **** together with album art, ANYTHING that might interfere with playback was turned off, removed, b-slapped, and sent crying home to its moms. Nada.
    - Recreating my library. This was the fix I offered someone else, because it actually did the trick for a few days. After an entire night spent reimporting 73 gigs worth of music, it played fine, but I did lose a ton of album art, playcounts, etc, so you can imagine how ****** I was when this wound up not being a permanent fix. I was beyond ******. I was livid. But I was taught in the dojos of my youth to channel my anger into productivity, and instead of sculpting a lovely bonsai tree, I set out to fix this pup once and for all.
    - That darn anti-virus! This was the final fix I tried, even though I wasn't using any of the culprit programs listed in the forums as causes of the skipping, and even those offering this as a solution confessed it was pretty hit or miss. But having tried everything else, having resorted to playing my music on MediaMonkey of all things, I figured I'd give it a shot. I used (reason for the past-tense forthcoming) AVG Anti-Virus, Lavasoft AdAware and something called Spyware Doctor that I think just came bundled with XP. I removed all of them. I had just done a virus scan recently to see if that's what was causing this, so I figured I'd be okay until I could redownload them after this fix wound up not working. And it didn't work, so there's that.
There may be a couple of fixes I've tried that I'm forgetting now, since I'm delirious after spending practically every night for the past week trying to fix this problem, while my girlf, Heather, sits and laughs at me while watching Clark and Michael on her MacBook. In fact, she's laughing at the $100 offer as I type this, but I assure you, if you offer a solution that works, the money is as good as yours. If you come up with a workable solution, I'll have to test and make sure it isn't temporary like the recreating my library thing, but I won't leave you hanging once I'm satisfied that it's fixed for good. I know it's unorthodox, perhaps illegal in some states, but I'm desperate here, peeps. The ball is in your court, and I beg you not to give up the rock.
    Gateway E-2000 Windows XP

I think the problem lays with Last.fm. I had the same exact problem as you. In your processes screen, end the task "lastfmhelper.exe" Last.fm still scrobbles. The tracks don't skip, although I notice there is still a bit of a lag in the first part of the song - but if you can deal with that, no skipping. I think you will have to end that task everytime you boot up your computer, or uninstall last.fm completely until they fix it; it is a bug in their software, as opposed to iTunes.
