DVCPro 50 QT Codec in Windows

I have been editing a short film on FCP 4.5 HD on a G5 with the DCVPRO50 - NTSC codec. I am trying to interpolate my workflow to windows because my access to the G5 is limited. When I open the footage on my WinXP cpu I get the whitescreen which signifies no codec. All the DVPRO50 codecs I have tried will not work with the QT standard. How can I get this to work without reencoding all my footage. Is there a interpolated solution for such crossplatorm workflows.
The G5 is running on 6.5.2 (I believe) and my XP has 7.0.3. Please help. Thanks.

  • CS3 with Codec MainConcept DVCPro HD CODEC v7 7 0 23862 rar - can't import AVCHD (m2ts files)

    Hi,
I have a Panasonic hdc-sd9 and just looking for a programm with which I can import the AVCHD (m2ts files).
I saw here( http://www.videoaktiv.de/200805171688/News/Camcorder/Panasonic-Broadcast-AVCHD-goes-profes sional.html ) that Adobe Premiere Pro CS3 with the Codec MainConcept DVCPro HD CODEC should work for the Panasonic File Format.
I have saved one video as a mpg file. I imported it to Premiere Pro CS3. I could import the mpg File but I had not audio sound in Premiere Pro CS3, but the mpg movie, for example when I start the movie in Windows Media Player or VLC there is sound.
Somebody can help me or provide me another programm which work?
Do somebody have the same problem ?
    Thanks
    Cheers

    Hi Harm,
    Thanks for the answer.
But can an mpg File have 5.1 sorrund sound ? Is this not yet Stereo ?
This is one of the problems...
Do you maybe have an idea regarding the importing problem with the m2ts file too ?
    Thanks a lot

  • Should I convert what I did from DVCPro HD codec to ProRes?

I'm new to this so forgive me for my ignorance...
I've been editing HD video footages shot in PANASONIC HVX200 P2, shot in 23.976fps... Now that I'm almost done, I've been talking to a lot of people (including COLORISTS that I spoke to). They are asking why I did not use APPLE PRORES 422.
QUESTION: Should I convert what I did from DVCPro HD codec to ProRes? If YES, what's the easiest way for me to do this without starting from scratch. Is there an easy step in FCP that I can do to recapture from my RAW P2 files? If there is a way, will my existing sequences work fine if I just recapture raw files?
    WHAT I HAVE:
    RAW P2: from Panasonic HVX
    Editing: Final Cut Pro 7
A/V FCP preset settings: DVCPRO HD 1080pa24
BTW, everything is fine with what I have but a couple of people I spoke with said I'll have better quality using Apple ProRes. Doing some test stuff, I noticed DVCPRO HD captures in 1280x1080, AND if I capture from APPLE PRORES it's 1440x1080. Since I'm not an expert on this, I'm not sure if the difference would be beneficial to what I'm doing.
I'm working on an indie digital movie hopefully for digital projection.
    Thanks for the help!

First just a wee bit of advice .. you say in your post that you have FCP 7 - this is the FCPX forum you will always get faster maybe even better responses if you post in the Final Cut Studio forum which includes FCP 7. That said ..I will try to help ..
Your HVX200 captures onto the P2 card as DVCPRO HD (4:2:2) which is a compressed format not really intended to be an editing friendly codec .. (better than many others but still not ideal). When you ingest it into FCP 7 the Log and Transfer window has a wee preference tab in which you can set the codec .. I would use ProRes 422 or ProRes 422 (LT) if space is an issue. The incoming 'Transfer' is then decompressed and coded to ProRes 422 .. The main advantage is the ease of edit with no loss of quality.

  • DVCPro 50 Codec Conversion

I am currently using Adobe Premiere CS3 at my job and have run into yet another situation where I am forced to use someone else's Final Cut Pro files to edit with. Of course, they are Quicktime files with the dreaded DVCPro 50 codec.
In the past I have brought these home to my Macintosh and spent the time to convert the footage outside of work, but I have just discovered the Raylight Encoder Pro and thus far the demo version has allowed me to view all of the files I was given on my timeline, albeit with a watermark.
Before I purchase the full version, I would like to know if Adobe has any specific solutions they would recommend outside of using this third party software. Also, if third party is the way to go, does anyone has experience with using the Raylight Encoder Pro?
    Here is their website:
    http://www.dvfilm.com/raylight/EncoderPro/index.htm

I'm not aware of any built-in DVCPRO 50 solutions. Third party is the only way I know of to use them.

  • FCP IMX codec for windows

    Hi guys,
is there any IMX codec for windows so i can easly export my grahics from my PC to FCP without rendering? CMIIW
    Many Thanks,
    Bayu

Happy to help out, but you need to identify what cam or sequence settings you use to create the HD sequence.
HD means so many things, including HDV and DVCProHD.
    What is it?
And what did you choose to export to that create a smaller movie file for use on the PC?
Because it seems you have converted the original footage to something else, otherwise the size would be the same.
You might try an export to h.264 that should work if your friend is using v.7 of QT on Windows.

  • HT3775 why can't i play .wmv file in quicktime even after i download codec from windows? can anyone help me wit this please!!!!!

why can't i play .wmv file in quicktime even after i download codec from windows? can anyone help me wit this please!!!!!

Have you done the obvious things to try to fix it: quit Quicktime then start it back up again, log out then back in, reboot.
Edit: Just read one of your later posts. If VLC won't play it, this is unrelated to Quicktime and Flip4Mac. Are you sure these wmv files are okay?

  • Sigmatel 9205 - Problems with audio codec in Windows XP

Does anyone have a working solution to using IDT Sigmatel STAC 9205 Audio Codec in Windows XP.  I have Dell Lat. D531, D630, D830 and XPS M1330 (the D531 and XPS came with VISTA pre-installed - we don't support, so I formatted and installed Windows XP).  The problem is that I cannot, for the life of me, get the Sigmatel driver to install.  Even on the machines that came with Windows XP (we routinely format the Dell OEM OS and replace with our volume license XP OS) the driver won't install.  I even repaired the OS installation with the OEM (Dell) version and still the driver will. not. install.....  This is a very recent problem and I have at least 15 laptops that I can't get the integrated sound card to work (when I go to install the driver the message is basically the component you are trying to install is not present on this system).  I have been 'working' with Dell Tech Support (Gold and otherwise) to no avail.  One tech sent a replacement hard drive imaged with a working driver -- however, she sent a VISTA imaged hard drive...I explained that we don't support VISTA prior to her sending the drive.  One tech is having the motherboard replaced (today).  I'll see how that goes.  This driver is the kiss of death unless dell with supply a pc card as a replacement, I have tried everything I know to do and Dell Tech support knows to do.  ANY HELP WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED

Tony, some posters have reported that the XP drivers for the Vostro 1500 will work for the M1330.
    Vostro 1500 XP downloads
However before installing any Sigmatel driver after an OS installation you should follow this order of driver installation:
    a. Install Dell Notebook System Software R154270 (click the + sign next to System Utilities). Restart.
    b. Next install the Intel Mobile Chipset driver 153997 (click the + sign next to Chipset). Restart.
    c. Finally re-install the Sigmatel audio driver R158235 (click the + sign next to Audio).
Some v1500 users have reported that they had to "uninstall an unknown PCI device in Device manager first , then install the driver normally".
Rarely there will still be a problem with the installation at this point (in XP). In those cases follow this tip from forum member rpilT2005: check in the Device Manager for a "PCI Device" with a yellow question mark next to it, under the "System Devices" grouping. Hit 'update driver' on that one, and it should find the driver.
A previous poster was able to get his audio working by following the above instructions more or less He said that after installing the Chipset driver he next uninstalled the unknown PCI device. He let Windows look for a new driver but he said he had to point it to the folder with the driver. Then he wrote, "Xp still said that an error occurred and the device may not work properly, but it did work fine and I also don't have a yellow question mark..." I know this is confusing.

  • DVCPRO HD codec (?)- Quicktime won't play video portion--have FDE 4

I have FCE 4 and want to edit a project created with a DVCPRO HD camera. We created quicktime files from the initial disc footage (using FCP) and put onto an external hard drive. Now with my computer (macbook 2.2 intel duo) and FCE 4 and Quicktime7.4.1 I can't open the video portion of the file--the audio plays but no image in both FCE and Quicktime-- and have gotten a message I need a codec (or codec could not be opened) Doesn't FCE have a dvcpro hd codec with the install? I just got this last month and haven't had a chance work with it til now.

The DVCPRO HD codec only comes with Final Cut Studio.

  • DVCPRO/HD Codec

Where can I get this codec?
As far as I understand, it is included in Final Cut Studio. I have Quicktime Pro, which does everything I need - except that in my current scenario, I'd like to use the DVCPRO/HD codec.
Is it available as a separate download?
If not, why not? Paying for a whole package of programs for just one component is ridiculous.

Does the DVCPRO/HD codec work with Final Cut Express?
If you mean "capture to" or "render to" DVCPRO HD for editing, then no, AIC is the default "native" HD editing codec. If you mean import and/or export from/to DVCPRO HD, then yes, like most QT editing applications, FCE has access to installed components whether installed as part of the basic OS package, iMovie, FCE, or FCP.

  • DVCPRO HD codec and After Effects

*THE CHALLENGE:* Getting DVCProHD video exported from Final Cut Pro 6, into After Effects CS3, and then back into Final Cut Pro without shifting color or gamma.
*THE PROBLEM:* Apple and Adobe interpret Gamma differently when using the DVCProHD codec. Each use their own version of a DVCProHD codec.
    *POSSIBLE SOLUTIONS:*
    1) Use a 3rd party codec for both apps (Mainconcept, Canopus, Cineform, Raylight)
Downside: Cost money and I'd rather not deal with them
    2) Use the Animation codec
Downside: Animation is a buggy codec, dropping frames and such. Also, file sizes are ridiculously huge and impractical.
    3) Export Prorez HQ from FCP and in AE make an adjustment layer and tweak the gamma to 1.24.
Downside: This is a crude, temporary fix and probably not perfect in the gamma matching either.
Has anyone heard of a fix that still uses Apple's DVCPRO HD codec or are we stuck with cheap workarounds until Adobe and Apple decide to play nice again?

From an ongoing discussion at Creative Cow - http://forums.creativecow.net/thread/2/919924#939251
{quote}Apple has not released the DVCPRO HD codec for general QuickTime users, and especially not PC users. It's a closed-end format that can only be read by the codec included with FCP.
    Adobe and Apple used to play nice, now their dvc pro hd codecs interpret gamma differently. Unless you can hack the decoder reader, you'll have to shell out some dough for the 3rd party codecs or rollback to an older FCP and AE.{quote}
And the Animation codec is buggy in that it drops frames randomly, changing the frame rate ever so slightly. But my bigger issue with the Animation codec (as mentioned before) is that the file sizes are WAY too big for me to use for any clip longer than a minute.

  • DVCPro HD Codec for computers with Final Cut installed?

Why does the DVCPro HD Codec download say "DO NOT INSTALL CALIBRATED{Q} DECODE CODECS ON SYSTEMS WITH ANY VERSION OF FINAL CUT PRO INSTALLED"? I would like to be able to play HD quicktime videos, but I have Final Cut Express on my computer. Can I not download the codec? Is there something else I can download instead? Any advice would be appreciated, thanks!

    Hi and welcome to Discussions,
    Pro is not Express.
FC Pro supports DVCPro HD natively and thus the installation of the Calibrated one might interfere with it.
    http://www.apple.com/finalcutstudio/finalcutpro/broad-format-support.html
FC Express is not mentioned as being not supported, so you might go ahead and install it.

  • DVCPRO HD Codec in QT

I have a 720P Video that uses the DVCPRO HD codec. I can play this back in Quicktime Pro 7.1 on my old Mac Mini. When I install these codecs on my new Core Duo Intel Mac Mini, it does not play. Are ther new versions of the codec for the intel machines?

Your shouldn't move components between OS's, versions and the new Intel Mac.
QuickTime 7.0.4 is "Universal" as is 7.1 and the recent 7.1 update should allow you to play DVCPRO HD files on the Intel machine.
Try running the file under a different user account. This can help isolate issues.
Compare the third party codecs installed on both machines. Remove them (drag to Desktop) and relaunch QT. Many have been linked to playback issues and other conflicts.

  • No Dv/DvcPro- NTSC codecs?

Hi i apologize if this a stupid question or has been asked before - but what happened to the dv/dvcpro-ntsc codec in Ae CS5?  Has it changed to something else like dv25 or dv50 and i'm just not familiar enough with the codec to know the difference?
    Thanks!

In previous versions of After Effects, the imprecise names of the codecs as supplied by QuickTime were used. In After Effects CS5, the more precise names of the codecs are presented in the UI. For example, 'DV25' is what is usually meant when people say 'DV codec', even though it's just one of many DV codecs.
This is also being discussed on this thread:

  • Animation vs DV/DVCPRO NTSC Codec

I'm tring to run my project down to a DVD via iDVD. Inside the project I have various Photoshop graphics and text I created in FCP. When I export my project as a straight QuickTime movie using the default DVCPRO Codec. All my text and graphics are low res. When I export the project as Animation all the graphics and FCP text is perfect but all the video footage is interlaced. I've change my seq. settings to Animation and exported the mov. as Animation as well but it's still interlaced, why?
    Thank you,

Never judge quality based on what you see on the desktop.
To see that you will get on the DVD, you need to have an external monitor (TV) connected to your computer while you have FCP open.
    #8 External Monitor Viewing.
    Shane's Stock Answer #8:
A simple path is mac > firewire > camera or deck > rca cables > tv
Then start up your camera and tv, then open fcp.
Then go View > External video > all frames
Video playback should be Apple firewire NTSC (If you are using an NTSC set)
Audio playback should be Audio follows Video
Techinially, this should send synched video to your TV
If for some reason you can't view your timeline on your external monitor, there are a few things to try:
    1) Make sure that the camera/deck is connected and powered on BEFORE you open FCP.
    2) In the Final Cut Pro menu select AUDIO/VIDEO Preferences and make sure your signal is being sent out thru Firewire DV.
    3) Go to the menu and select VIEW>EXTERNAL>ALL FRAMES.
    4) Click in the % box above the image and select FIT TO WINDOW.
    5) Go to VIEW->refresh A/V devices
    6) Make sure the Log & Capture window is closed
If you want it to play in both the canvas and the external monitor you need to go to the FINAL CUT PRO menu and select AUDIO/VIDIO settings and make sure MIRROR ON DESKTOP is selected under the PLAYBACK OUTPUT section
