DVCPRO HD 720P25 FIREWIRE CAPTURE WARNING

I've just finished a job that required shooting DVCPROHD 720p25
As there's no PAL capture option yet we assumed that shooting on a Varicam over 60 frames and once captured at 720p60 it would convert over to a 720p25 timeline with no hassle.
But we assumed wrong..........
This worked perfectly for 75% of the footage but the rest looked like it was playing a jumpy varispeed clip.
After hours of tests I found only way around it was to export the clip from an editing timebase 59.94 timeline, export as 720p25 and import back in.
(Trying to do this in the media manager rejected the process)
Again this either worked 1st time or took up to 5 attempts.
Eventually all the shots we wanted converted
I thought I'd share it with all you PAL editors waiting for Apple to pull their finger out and sort out a DVCPROHD 720p25 capture option
Come on Panasonic sort it out, the footage looks great but your doing us PAL boys no favours
MacBook Pro 17"   Mac OS X (10.4.8)   2.33 GHz, 3GB Memory, Miglia Dualdisk 640GB (FW 800 88MB/Sec)

FCP 5.1.2 has support for PAL DVCPRO HD. 720p50 and 25. Your issue is that you shot 720p60 and are now trying to convert it to PAL. And you are doing so without using any converters.
You can try the Standards Converter from www.nattress.com (there is a demo available)...barring that you can have your footage transferred at a dub facility.
But converting NTSC to PAL isn't as simple as draggng it into a PAL timeline.

  • CAPTURING DVCPRO HD 720p25 PAL

I'm trying to load DVCPRO HD 720p25 PAL footage into FCP 6, but it won't let me load. How do I switch the VTR control...How do I load this material? I've set the FCP project to the settings for DVCPRO HD 720p25 for input but still no luck. Please advise.

More info, computerdude... What are you trying to capture from? How? What are your settings? What specifically happens when you try...

  • Does Final Cut Pro offer native support for DVCPRO HD 720p25?

I would like to online a DVCPRO HD project on a Final Cut Pro suite with an HD i/o card, but I just wanted to make sure that the latest Final Cut Pro offers support for DVCPRO HD 720p25 before making the jump.

Thanks for the info. I will check if the production company's Blackmagic HD card supports DVCPRO 720p25.
Just for your information, we have offline edited on an Avid MC Adrenaline. We have had the biggest problems ingesting the media since we shot on a Varicam at 25p and the Avid wouldn't accept firewire. So we ended up cutting in 30i. Which now ***** since the online is a pain.
It seems like we will export an EDL per video track from the Avid, then hopefully find a company or a person who will convert our 30fps EDL to 25fps via the software EDLMax24. Then import the EDLs into a Final Cut Pro HD suite with a Blackmagic HD card via HD-SDI, and online from the HD AJ-1400 deck. And hopefully that will work.
The only outstanding thing is to find someone with EDLMAX24 since it retails at 600USD.

  • Windows 8.1, Premiere Pro CC, Intermittant firewire capture problems

While firewire capture works perfectly from time to time, it seems that more often it does not. Specifically, the capture freezes on the first frame present when opening the capture window. Sometimes it just starts working later in the day. Any ideas what conditions could exist to cause firewire capture to work perfectly sometimes but not others? It doesn't make a difference what deck or camera is attached. It is hit or miss with any device.
    Thanks,
    Bruce B.

Are you using the LEGACY Firewire driver?

  • By passing  Kona for direct firewire capture/control

    Greetings
First let me qualify this by saying that it's quite possible I'm missing something very basic in FCP and MAC config and use. I'm not immune to overlooking the obvious or stupid mistakes. So having said that...
I'm running a FCP 5 on a MacPro with a Kona AJA card.
In the course of trying to capture HD video from a Sony HVR-M25U deck I've had problems matching capture res/format and deck control. Tried every possible combo of capture and control preset available.
To make a very long story short, the best I could do was capture 1080i via the "capture now". (Obviously I don't get TC from the tape which will cause problems in future edit sessions.)
In the course of many discussions a possible problem might be that the KONA card is some how preventing direct Firewire capture and control.
So my question is, is there an easy way during boot up to disable the KONA? If there is a way it would (probably) allow a standard firewire ingest.
    I hope this makes sense.
I guess what I'm asking for is a way to fool my Mac into thinking there is no KONA without having to physically remove it from the slot.

You don't have to disable the Kona to capture firewire, just select an appropriate easy setup (non Kona)
so you have a Kona LE?
What we usually do with HDV that needs to be repeatable or be used in other systems is bump to HDCam with new code (to avoid TC breaks) then capture the result of that.
If it doesn't need to be repeatable we come in pro res or DVCProHD so editing/ finishing is a frame based codec.
If you have hdmi on the deck and or camera you might want to look at

  • FireWire Bus:    Warning:     Unable to list FireWire devices.

How do I fix this on my older G5
    FireWire Bus:
Warning:          Unable to list FireWire devices.
Trying to use my sony DCR HC-30
    Use to work

    Hi try this...
reset FW bus, same goes for USB reset...
    Reset the Firewire bus
If your Firewire or USB isn't recognizing any device.  A solution which has worked for some whose hard drive became invisible in 10.4 was simply to follow these four steps to reset the Firewire/USB bus:
    1. Shut the machine down.
    2. UNPLUG the power lead to the computer and any firewire/USB drive or devices.
    3. leave it for 10 minutes.
    4. Connect back up and reboot.

  • DVCPRO HD 720p25

    Hi!
At the moment I'm writing my diploma thesis about the different HD-formats. For this I have to compare for example 720p50 to 1080i50 (nothing really new, I know)... Anyway, also I'd like to work with DVCPRO HD 720/25p and DVCPRO HD 720/25pn, recorded by Panasonic HVX200 and HPX500. We have FCP6 and FCP7, but neither of them can work with this format. Both convert it to 720p50, even though that isn't what I want. This is why I'm asking for help, since I haven't found a real answer in the internet.... Hope anyone can help me, I'd be so glad.
So my final question is: is there any way in FCP to work with DVCPRO HD 720p25 (pn isn't that important)?
    Thanks in advance!
    bye Anke

We have FCP6 and FCP7, but neither of them can work with this format.
Look in the Easy Setup and select DVC PRO HD 720p25. It is most certainly there.
Then go to Sequence > Settings > Load Sequence Preset.

  • Is firewire capture broadcast quality?

I know the data rate from firewire is only 3.6MB per sec. i have only a sony DSR11 dv deck which has only firewire, i figured out that if i want uncompressed 8.5mb per sec i need component out, video capture card and a bigger deck. right now, my clients are happy with the output, and the tv stations are accepting the outputs i am giving but i wonder if it is really broadcast quality . thanks
    yours
    sameer

    Hi Sameer
What do you understand to mean by broadcast quality?
Generally, a broadcaster will provide a set of strict guidelines, on the technical side mainly related to legal chroma and luma limits, limitations on flashing imagery etc, and on the artistic side sometimes relating to the quality of image. Broadcasters differ and so do their levels of tolerance relating to these guidelines.
By firewire capture I think you mean DV quality footage. You can capture uncompressed footage over firewire too.
As Denis said, converting DV footage to uncompressed won't improve the quality of your footage - it is still originating from a compressed source - however it might allow you to perform more exacting grading on the images and bring it within legal broadcast limits.
Most of the broadcasters I have worked with have required footage to be provided on Digibeta masters but that doesn't mean you couldn't take a Mini DV tape to a facilities house and have them convert it over before you submit for broadcast.
At the end of the day, if the broadcaster accepts your footage, it is broadcast quality in their eyes and you have no problems. For your own peace of mind, though, do make a legalisation pass to make sure your footage will conform when seen on other televisions.

  • HT1338 anyone found a solution to firewire bus warning in 10.6.8

anyone found a solution to firewire bus warning in 10.6.8 ? reset smc pram safe boot still no joy recognising my m-audio fw solo!!!

What exactly is the warning message?
It could be anything from a bad FireWire cable, a bad chip set in the Solo to tripped port overload protection in the computer.
    1. Try another FireWire device with your computer to see if it works.
    2. Try the Solo with another computer to see if it is working.
    3. Try resetting the SMC as per > Resetting the System Management Controller (SMC), but in step #3 wait 5 minutes instead of 15 seconds to allow more time for the FireWire port protection to reset.
    1. Shut down the computer.
    2. Unplug the computer's power cord.
    3. Wait fifteen seconds.  <------- 5 minutes
    4. Attach the computer's power cord.
    5. Wait five seconds, then press the power button to turn on the computer.

  • No DVCPRO HD 720p25 or 720p50 Easy Setups - how can I capture??

Well I admit I haven't used my Panny HVX200 for a few weeks, but now I have a new project and find to my horror that the only Easy Setups in FCP 5.1.4 are for the US +(DVCPRO HD 720p24, 30 or 60)+.
What happens to those of us who need 25 or 50?
    +(I'm hoping I don't suddenly need a capture card)+.

Hi, I have just posted a topic like this! I own a JVC and I have done some footage at 50p... And it looks like (to me) that FCP can not handle it.
    What is the solution?
As soon as I have some answer I will let you know.

  • Noise in Firewire capturing

    Hi there!
We are using Flash Media Live Encoder 2.5, trying to capture
directly FLV files from a DV camera, trough a firewire connection
for both video and audio. On the contrary to what we have read in
these forums, everything is working properly with the firewire
connection... except for a strange noise we get.
With some of our tapes (not with all of them) we get a
strange high pitch noise in the FLV file. Of course, that noise is
not in our tape, as we always get perfect sound from a mixer. Which
can be the reason? Anyone else with these symptons?
    Thanks in advance!

    Try following:
click the Camera app, slide the photo-movie slider on the bottom right to movie then back completely. Close Camera app, double click home button twice and really quit camera.
If that does not help, do it again, then do a reset: hold both Home and Power button for about 10 seconds until you see the white apple logo then let go.

  • MDT capture warning: Unexpected return code while re-arming office 2010, RC= -1073425657

    Greetings,
I have a base image I have created with an MDT task sequence, than I am then immediately capturing with another MDT task sequence (the capture sequence is basically the default).  After capture, I get 0 errors, 1 warning: "Unexpected return code
    while re-arming office 2010, RC= -1073425657".
I am capturing immedaitely after the base image build, and even more strangely, even with Office 2010 removed from my base build, I STILL get this warning!  Office isn't even on there anymore (I verified before capture just to double check).
Not sure how or why this is happening - or more importantly, should I care?  I've deployed a couple of machines using this image, and both Office and Windows show as activated.  Can this safely be ignored, or if not... what is the fix?
    Thanks in advance!

    Freddie,
Please read your own post again, can you tie the knots together, because your phrasing is going crazy!?!
However, if using the sysprep step from within a MDT task sequence, please scroll through the ZTISysprep.wsf to find that not only the machine will be sysprepped, but also Office 2010 will be automatically re-armed, this is provided in the script already,
so no need to run it on your own.
Ok how do i undo that because thatswhy the message appears to many rearms...
If a machine is domain joined, it will not sysprep and capture. Also I wouldn't sysprep and capture an already sysprepped and captured image again (based on gut feeling) and as always check your logfiles, they can reveal what is going on here.
The machine is not domain joined in the Vm. And i do not sysprep and capture twice.Which logfiles exactly to see?
If this post is helpful please click "Mark for answer", thanks! Kind regards
    freddie

  • Capturing warning message in BDC recording

    Hi all,
I want to capture a warning message that is getting popped during BDC recording. When BDC is ran in background, it is stopping at that point and further processing is stopped with the display of this warning message.
Can anybody help me in capturing this warning message?
    Thanksm
    Archana

    Hi Avinash,
I am trying to change the profit center using this BDC. So, when i change it, this warning is displayed and it goes inside one more window and coreects the new profit center added in the previous window. So, this warning message is necessary to be displayed. But my problem is that because of this message my BDC is also not proceeding further.
    Hi Bhavesh,
The warning message is getting displayed as a pop-up. I am not getting any information about the screen number. I know the prgram for that but no the screen number. And can you please tell me what that piece of code does? So that i can try it out in my BDC.
    Thanks,
    Archana

  • BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE cannot capture warning

    Hello,
When I am using MIGO for a goods receipt I get a warning about quantity.
However, when I use BAPI_GOODSMVT_CREATE I don't get the warning for the same parameters.
In general I am able to capture only information(success) and error messages.
Is there someone who got this problem before and is there some configuration to be done?
    THanks for your precious help

    Hello ,
Thanks for the replies. Points have been rewarded.
I have found that when using MIGO i get a warning when I check a posting, but do not get it when actually doing the posting for real. That's why when I simulate using the BAPI I don't get the message.
The Bapi returns only error messages it seems.
I worked around by first simulating and then using BDC if no error is obtained and if my BDC fails, whereby I get a message that the screen number is not recorded, then I know it is a warning, and for others everything is fine.
I'm thus closing this posting. Thanks again everyone
