Dvcpro upsample to hdcam and export to image seq.

Hi all
We shoot in dvcpro, but when we pull out composite and effects shots to send to VFX we need to output them as hdcam res tga sequences.
1. It would be nice to upsample the dvcpro to hdcam quickly, but currently we are doing it by hand with a 50% resize. We have to do this because just choosing an output format of hdcam doesn't maintain the anamorphic picture.
2. We can't output directly to frame sequences in FC from the hdcam because the speed is atrocious, so we are taking the hdcam segment, saving as a mov, then converting it with quicktime to an image sequence. Quicktime converts hdcam to frame sequence almost twice as fast. When you are dealing with 60-80 gig datasets this is a big deal.
I would like to streamline this process and even automate as much of it as possible.
So can anyone give me some tips on this?
And anyone got info on automating conversion export tasks in FC? or saving some kind of template set?

You can do that in the current version. Don't have the app in from of me but connecting a frame is in one the menus. You can also save current frame. Use the Share button and add destination.

QT X: Create and export still image?

Is there any way in QT X to grab a video frame and export it (full-size) as an image?
I think one could do this with QT 7 Pro (not sure). QT X allows one to trim, but the selection is limited to a duration and must be exported as a movie. I just want a still image from a video frame (and not including the Title Bar or the control bezel).
iMovie can do this, but even there it is awkward (many steps).
Skitch allows window grabs, but clicking on the QT window makes the bezel appear (and I have to run the movie at 100% in order to get an actual frame).

On my main machine I still run Quicktime 7 Pro, even under 10.6, to do most of my movie and image conversions and dread when Apple remove what is one of the most critical basic tools.
Working on another machine I have come across this thread because it only has Quicktime 10 on it.
A solution to getting a single (controlled!) frame from a movie, depending on your screen resolution, is to use Quicktime 10's trim function to trim the movie to just the frame you want and then turn on looped playback in the View menu before pressing the play button. Then you can use Grab to take a picture of your screen without the controls in the way.
But come on Apple, exporting single frames (and the soundtracks) from a movie is a basic 20 year old function - please bring them both back.

I am having trouble exporting from LR4. After I have developed the photo in LR and export the image, then when I open it in Photoshop, it does not retain any of the developing I just did in LR.

When I export my image and open in Photoshop CS5, none of the developing I have just done in LR4
is in the file. It is basically exporting a raw image with no developing.

Exporting is the wrong procedure.

if you're using flash 8, you can use flash to upload a file
(using the filereference class) to a server that hosts the swf. and
if that file is a jpg or gif, you can load it into flash. however,
you can't drag and drop a file into flash.

Apparent differences between Exported and Exported Catalog images

In trying to recover from a 'shot self in foot' error when managing some images, I have exported some selected images from Lightroom V3 and also performed an 'Export as Catalog' step. The hard disk destinations for the 2 exports are different. To my surprise the images also appear different and are of different size. The export of selected images appears to create the result I expect - that is when browsing the exported images (within PhotoMechanic for example) the images I see are what I expect. But the images that are exported as part of the export as catalog appear to have discarded all the 'retouching' I did to them in the Develop module ( when browsed in the same way).
Is this because the changes that I made as part of the retouching are kept within some sort of catalog files when I export as a catalog, but are written into the image file when I export a selection of individual images? I notice that there are no sidecar files in the folder where Lightroom is holding the images.
(By the way I am dealing with TIFFs produced by scanning 40+ year old slides in an Epson V700 scanner. The workflow I have been using is the cause of my original 'shot in foot' issue.)

In fact the original form is what I really need, as well as the edited form. (I was not aware that this is how I could get to that original form). Perhaps a litlte more background will help:
I started with a folder of master/original scanned images on 1 drive and then did a physical copy to a 2nd drive. I imported the images . in place - into Lightroom from this second drive, with the intention of leaving the master/original versions untouched. I have been using 2 diffeent scanning applications: Epson Scan and Silverfast Ai. At some stage I started to import directly into Lightroom from the master/original folder on the first drive instead of from the copies on the second drive. I also further fouled things up by scanning images directly into the Lightroom managed folder on the second drive, instead of into the master/originals folder. Having then done some editing I am in the confusing situation of having 'orginal' and edited' images on both drives.
Now what I want to is to put all unedited images only into the master/original folder on the first drive and be sure that the Lightroom library contains all the edited images as well as imported copies of images that I have not yet had a chance to edit.
It is clear now from your advice that I can recreate my 'master/original/images throuhg the 'export as catalog' process. But it is not clear that I can capture all of the edting that I have done already. I have stupidly stored some of those edits in the wrong folder.

i was using lightroom previously. edit my raw file and then export in jpeg. everything appear normal as what i wanted.
recently i got cs4 and started using bridge. now after i edit my photo in lightroom and export,the view of the jpeg file appears overexpose(exposure was increase) and when view on adobe bridge same problem. but if i open photoshop and use my workspace colour setting everything is ok. when i see my picture on iphoto it is normal as per i have edited. i just don't know what setting i have touch that cause my viewing of edited photo on lightroom and bridge goes overexpose. on bridge,thumbnail ok but preview bad...
for the record: i just install CS4 and snow leopard recently. before this i have no problems with LR. I'm also not sure if i have accidentally change any settings.
i shoot with a 5D mark 2 and use the raw file for edit.

We're going to need a lot more details aobut exactly (EXACTLY) the steps you follow after you do the export, because normally I would say this is one of the easiest things possible in Lightroom. Are any files moved or renamed or disks unplugged in between the time of export and the time when you try to edit again?

Exported iPhoto images not showing in folder

Hi,
When I export a group of NEF images from iPhoto 06 Library, as JPG, to a new folder the files do not appear.
If I repeat the export for the other export options the images appear.
I did repeat this exercise and exported the images as JPG onto a USB drive, and was able to see them listed when viewed on another laptop.
Any suggestions?

Does anyone know why the files are hidden when the size is not defined?

Export to PDF and Excel. Image

How do you do!, well, I have a question and issue... the user wants to export the report to PDF, for this, I have created a WAD report with Broadcasting command for export to PDF, all works fine, however the company logo is not added to PDF document or Excel document... it´s not correct, although I dont know if the standard function can add logo when we use export function...
One thing, in WAD report, we can see the image, logo company...
Somebody can help me, is it possible to add image when we use export? or SAP does not permit it.

1.Open the template "0ANALYSIS_PATTERN" and insert an Image from MIME Repository(bwmimerep:///sap/bw/mime/Customer/Images/...)
2.Insert a Button item and assign the COmmand Export to PDF
3.Save the template,Execute
4.You will able to see the image in the report.Click the button to Export to PDF
Now the image will be seen in the exported PDF file

If you just forget about PPI and use Save for Web, you will get the 374 x 374 pixel size.
The 1371 x 1371 pixels is because you somehow increase the resolution by 264/72.
You should never mix pixel by pixel sizes and PPI.
The 374 x 374 pixels is the actual image size. At 264 PPI that will be about 1.417 inches. At 72 PPI that will be about 5.194 inches.

File size and quality of images from iphone to mac to exported jpeg

there is a lot of good info on this forum regarding jpeg compression, iphoto export etc but i want to confirm a couple things..
i have 'my photo stream' enabled so that i can upload my iphone photos to my mac and my plan is to use iphoto (im just starting to do this)...
yes, i understand that the 'image' taken by iphone is stored as 'data' and some of that data (and potentially pic detail/quality) can be lost/reduced/discarded when you ask an application to export a .jpeg with a high, med, low compression applied.
am i correct that this 'my photo stream' process is not removing any image data?
e.g. i can export a 'full size' jpeg from the iphone and i see a 3.2MB file. if i look at that photo in Iphoto and export original.. i get a 3.2MB file. i assume that the original image was only compressed once?.. when it was originally stored on my camera roll in the iphone?
If i just want to use iphoto to add tags, description... i am required to recompress the image into a file and my choice of MAX compression yields 10MB (which is more space but no more detail vs HIGH compression which yields a 1.9MB file (which most likely is less image detail). there is no way to get the same original 3.2MB amount of data but with the appropriate text fields added into the new jpg file ? would it be much better, at least in theory, if i could get the goldilocks file size, ie just enough compression to have a similar file size as the original ... seems like my choice is 50% less or 300% more ?!?

Yes, as long as you have iPhoto's iCloud preference pane configures as follows:
You're be getting the full image file, pixel dimensions, etc. which is essentially a bit by bit copy of the photo on the Phone.
When you add tags and other metadata and export the file out of iPhoto as a jpeg with the checkboxes selected to include that metadata there will be some image compression. However, if one chooses High or even Medium JPEG Quality one will be hard pressed to detect any image degradation unless printing very, large prints or otherwise displaying the image at a very, large size.
I ran a test on a 1.4 MB photo from my iPhone and compared the original to two exports, one at High and the other at Medium JPEG Quality and got these results:

I am trying to run a video on my website (self hosted). This video, made with Premiere Pro CS6, consists of still images with different video effects.
This video is only 50 seconds, but when I transform this in the ogg, webm and mp4 format, I obtain file with large size and the quality is not good.
Could you please guide me to find out the right sequence and export settings in Premiere Pro CS6 to obtain a video for the best possible quality on the web?

Relink multiple images and export in jpg

Hi, this is my first post, been searching for nearly 2 hours for my solution, didn't end up with any answers
I have a template with the size of 500x500, there's my company logo at the right bottom and there's a brand's logo at the top left, i created a layer to put the products in the middle of the templates.
So now I have nearly 400 products to be relink and export into jpg, anyone can help me with this? I found out I have to use javascript for this and i have no clue of how to do this.
I would like to have 2 folders, first folder is my product, second folder would be the export photos be at(with the same title would it be possible?).
so the script should be able to read from the first folder and relink the product automatically in the layer and export into jpg automatically and being save into the second folder. (all the product images have the same size so no worries about it.)

PS: How ever i've face a problem editing all the photo's images into 500x500, some of them aren't exactly the size, some are bigger some are smaller, any ways to make all the images to fit nicely into center of the canvas and resizing them(so there would actually some extra free space around the product,not resizing it into 500x500px, it would be out of shape)?

allows for full customization (e.g. if you want to pick and choose custom metadata fields, or export more fields than ListView supports (10), or tweak data formats, or add intelligence...).
