DVCPRO50 Project - Keyable Backgrounds

I am editing my first DVCPRO50, 24p project in FCP (shot 16x9). Ive gotten all the ingest parameters worked out the footage looks good in the application, handled in real time. My concern is that it is a chroma keyed spot that I need to build backgrounds for. Any suggestions/insights on parameters for building the backgrounds in After Effects so they will key well? How big should they be (pixel dimension)? Any other insights on setup? How should they be exported for seemless import into FCP? What codec with what settings? Working on a short turnaround any feedback or personal experience would be much appreciated. Thanks in advance.

It really does't matter what you put in the background, it's the foreground shots that have to key well. I'd suggest that you create any backgrounds in the same video format you are using for the forground shots is all... (so in this case DVCPRO50@ 24p 16:9)

Why tehre is an Image from old project as background when I star new comp?

I´m with a very weird problem. When I start a new comp, (or even a new project) shows-up an an old image from another project as background. Even old projects have this same image as background. Its really weird, looks like a ghost. What shoud I do?

What is your exact version of AE down to the last decimal? For example, "CC, latest version" is not a helpful answer, but "13.2.0.49" is useful.

I am trying to include a number of iTunes tracks to my iMovie project as background music. However, when I drag and drop the tracks into the grey areas between thumbnail pics, they seem to be locking into specific clips

Export and re-import in to project keeping background transparent.

I have had some joy and some no so joy... maybe I am doing something wrong..
I have been using a smoke emmitter and "flattened" this and re-imported back into project to save ram or to duplicate the layer (for more smoke) and also again save ram. But sometimes the new import has a transparent background layer sometimes it is black. (Always I set all the other layers to not viewable) I have tried using keying to get rid of the black. But possibly there is a setting to keep any export/import back into project background transparent, if in a group above the bottom one. I am using QT animation setting for exports. DVC PRO HD 1080p

Set your background to transparent (press apple+J to open the window you need) as it may currently be set to "solid" and render the movie out using Animation, as this preset will support transparency. That should do it.

Convert 4.3 SD images into 16.9 DVCPro50 project with Streamclip?

I have 2 instances of Standard video 4.3 images to fit into a 16.9 HD project. In one case the 4.3 image is quite smaller and square (with 2 black bars top and bottom): it's 800x600 to be fitted in a 1920x1080 project. In the other the 4.3 image is quite bigger, and Standard video to fit into a DVCPro 50 Project. I read the definition of Letterboxing in Wikipedia but it describes converting 16.9 to 4.3 and not the other way around. Is it possible to do it? Could Streamclip convert the Standard video format to fit the HD project? Many thanks in advance.

As you said, what you are trying to do is not letterboxing. In order to fill the 1920x1080 frame you will need to scale the clips (in the motion tab) until they fit the width of your frame. But in doing so you will clearly loose quality and top and bottom cropping will occur so you might not be able to frame it as you want.
When you place an HD clip into an SD timeline you will need to downscale pretty much in the same manner.
If you need to scale SD clips to HD on a regular basis, you might want to look into InstantHD.

Background audio not adjusting after project is paused when published to Flash. Any suggestions?

I'm working with:
Captivate 6
Mac OS X 10.8.2
Flash Player is updated to most recent version
My project contains background audio music set to adjust to slide audio. When I publish to Flash the background audio adjusts appropriately until I pause the video and then resume. Once the video resumes the background audio no longer adjusts to slide audio. So basically anytime a learner pauses the video and then resumes the background audio drowns the slide audio out. I've tried this with multiple projects and get the same result.
When I publish in HTML5 it works fine. But I cannot use HTML5 because my project contains necessary rollover objects and captions, slide transitions, text animations, and other effects that HTML5 does not support.
I've to remove and re-add the background audio, uninstall and reinstall Captivate, adjust the background and slide volume levels, uncheck loop audio, and pretty much any audio settings and publish settings I can think of.
Can someone else with the same OS and Captivate version try and see if they encounter the same problem when publishing to Flash?
Or does anyone have a solution/workaround?

Sorry, I don't have a fix to offer. Only an observation. I'm rather surprised to see this many folks actually USING background audio. I say that, because I have facilitated hundreds of Captivate classes over the years. And there are lots of folks with Instructional Design background that attend. And in so many of the classes, when we reach the audio section and we cover how to use Background Audio, the same comment is made.
The comment is that generally speaking, it is their opinion that from an Instructional Design standpoint, background music is a "no no" and should be avoided because it detracts from the learning objective.

Changing Project Background Colour Preference

Really quick question. Is anyone able to change their default project colour background to pure white? I can set this in the preferences and it seems to 'take' then on next starting Motion it's back to black. I almost always work with a white background, and although I can easily edit an individual project's properties back to white it would save me the trouble if I could just get the default that way.
I've trashed preferences but to no avail.

Interesting. Never noticed before cuz I work with a black background usually. I was able to recreate the same result. The best I could manage was to change the bkg in preferences, then start a new project (which shows up in black), and hit CMD+J to open the project properties. The properties show the white color and if I don't do anything except hit OK, then the project will revert to white, but it'll always be black when I first start a new project.

Running Stock projection worksheet in background

    I have a requirement to extract data from stock projection worksheet ( T-code O4TB) periodically and get the data in excel format. Since it is a module pool program, I am not able to shecule it using SM36.
    Could you please let me know how we can schedule this?

Hi,
    There is report ROIJRDU1N to run the stock projection in background. But here the elevator(tank) field is not available in selection screen. We want the stock projection filtered on the basis of elevator as well.
   Has anyone done this? Please provide me with your suggestions

Sales Order Credit Block stopping Projects to get created

Hi All,
We have a specific scenario as follows :
1.Whenever we create a Sales order, Project System will create Project in background. There is one to one correspondence between a Sales Order and Project System.
2.We are able to restrict the automatic creation of Projects by putting a customized Delivery Block. We have observed that if we have a Delivery Block in the Sales Order which does not allow Confirmation, the project does not get created. ( Delivery Block config -->Block Confirmation)
Now , what we are observing is if there is a credit block on the Sales Order, it is also not allowing Project to be created automatically. Only when we release the Credit Block, then it is allowing Project to get created.
Can anybody put some light on how the Credit Block is stopping Projects. Where are the settings, if any ? Could anybody suggest a workaround ?

When a sales order is credit blocked, an assigned project is deleted.
When you release the sales order, the project is new created.
This new creation of a project during credit release happens in a
background processing. Therefore it is not possible to send a popup.
That means the project can not be created in background, if there
is a mandatory field which has to be filled by a user.
This is described also in the notes 583707 and 396791. This is
standard system behaviour.
The solution is,
1. Either we have to make sure, that there does not
come a popup during project creation.
2.Onother solution idea might be, not to delete the project in case
of credit block.
I just wanted to find out from my fellow practitioners if they have come across such a scenario and have worked on any of the solutions mentioned above.

My Client want to Create a Project Directly from Sales Order. I think we can do it using Assembly Processing. But, I have not worked on it.

As per prerequisite we need to create following:
1-       Standard WBS
2-       Standard Network
3-       Material
4-       Link between the Network, Material and Standard WBS;o
5-       Create Sales Order
Create Standard WBS
TCode : CJ91
Path: Choose Logistics ® Project management ® Basic data and then Standard structures ® Standard WBS® Create
After entering the data press enter.
Now select   icon to display the WBS element.
You can add / delete the WBS element here.
Remember that For All WBS Element, Operative indicator Account Assigned & Planning Element should be ticked. Billing element should be ticked for the WBS element that will be assigned in the allocation of material to Std. Network
Click on   icon to go back to the header.
Here release the WBS elements.
Make sure to release the WBS elements. (Remember without Release Status system will not allow to post any actual cost to new created project)
Create Standard Network
TCode: CN01
Path: Choose Logistics ® Project management ® Basic data and then Standard structures ® Standard networkà Create
Select the   icon to copy from Template.
Now enter standard Network (Which one you want to copy).
Here you will link WBS to Network.( it is very important to create a new operative project from sale order ) Then press Enter
Select the     for choose activities:
You can create activity here as per requirement.
You can maintain the relationship among the activities. Now Press the Total Tab :
Now here you can decide that under which WBS element activity will assigned .
Save the network
Create Material
TCode: MM01
Path: Logistics ® Production ® Master data ® Material master or Logistics ® Material management ® Material master and then Material and create (special or general)
Create material with using already exist material
Maintain the necessary setting in Material Master. (It is necessary for Assembly processing).
Select Sales ORG 1
Press the conditions :
The amount which enters here will be the sale value of material. During creation of sale order system take the sale order value from here.
Select the relevant Item Category Group.
Maintain Strategy in MRP3 View and save then Exit.
Assignment of Material to Network:
TCode: CN08
Path: Logistics ® Project management ® Basic data and then Standard structures ® Network parameters from sales order ® Edit.
Click the   icon to enter new line.
Here we will link material to Standard Network & Standard WBS.
Assembly Processing
Create Sales Order:
TC: VA01/VA41
Path: SAP Menu àLogistic àSales and DistributionàSalesàOrderàCreate
Select the Order Type / Sale organization and Distribution Channel
Enter
Enter the Required field like Ship to party, PO No. , Required Delivery Date, Material No. and Quantity .Then Press Enter.
Save the Sales Order and note down the Sale Order Number.
Sales order number will use the project number
Check in Project Builder.( CJ20N)
Now we can see that System has created new operative project in background.
And it has assigned activities to WBS accordingly.

Can we have two textures for the same project ?

I use Captivate4. In my project, the background transparency for Playbar controls is 100%. So the texture would be seen as the background for the PlayBar. I have a requirement of hiding PlayBack Controls in few slides. Then I would like to change my texture to some other image. in brief, I would like to show one texture when the PlayBar is visible & another texture when the PlayBar is invisible.
Is that possible?

OK. This would be a little easier to do in Captivate 5 which has Master Slides and Playbar Overlay. But since you have Captivate 4 you will need to make do with adding graphics to the background of the actual slide, and just turning off the Playbar.
From the graphics you added to your last post, it looks like you already know what you want the background to look like. You want a different background for Slide A and Slide B. One way to do this is to add the graphic to each slide, then right-click and select Merge with Background. But you can also just put the image on the lowest layer on the timeline of each slide and the effect would be similar.
Regarding the Playbar...Since you are on Captivate 4, you do not have the option to set Playbar to Overlay. I've just looked in Captivate 4 but the option is missing. Here is what the Skin Editor looks like in Captivate 4 and 5. Notice the Playbar Overlay setting is missing in Cp4. There may be another way to do this but I don't know.
This playbar overlay option would have allowed you to set the position of the playbar as sitting over the bottom 30 pixels or so of the stage area. Since you can't do this, you may need to be satisfied with seeing the area occupied by the playbar go blank when it is hidden.
To hide your playbar on Slide B, you will need to add an Advanced Action on Slide Enter that turns off the playbar by assigning the variable cpCmndShowPlaybar to 0. Here is what that looks like in the Slide Properties dialog for your Slide B.

Background task for WP 8.1

Hi all.
I added new project into solution. I created and registered background task. App1.Shared contains shared code. But I can't use it in new project with Background Task.
I tried to create background task into App1.Shared, but my app is crashing when trigger is activated.
How can I get access to shared code from project with background task?

Snap to beat - not working in big project

I'm new to iMovie 09, so might not be doing something correctly. Any advice gratefully received.
Aim:
I want to animate photos to synch with music at the beat markers.
*What I CAN do:*
Create a fresh project, choose background music (then markers), drop in the photos, and it works perfectly.
*What I CANNOT do:*
I cannot reproduce this +within a larger project+, the pics ignore the beat markers (Snap To Beat is checked).
The project is 23 min, mixture of video, photos, transitions, voiceovers (but no true "Background music", only audio clips that I've dropped onto vid/pics).
I added a single pic at the end of this 23 min (to anchor the Music, it becomes purple and 'pinned'), add beat markers and then drop in the remaining pics). Chaos. Totally asynchronous.
Am I missing something or is this an annoying bug?

I do not have align to pixel grid or snap to grid turned on
It sounds as if Illy thinks the former.
The following is a general list of things you may try when the issue is not in a specific file (you may have tried/done some of them already); 1) and 2) are the easy ones for temporary strangenesses, and 3) and 4) are specifically aimed at possibly corrupt preferences); 5) is a list in itself, and 6) is the last resort.
1) Close down Illy and open again;
2) Restart the computer (you may do that up to 3 times);
3) Close down Illy and press Ctrl+Alt+Shift/Cmd+Option+Shift during startup (easy but irreversible);
4) Move the folder (follow the link with that name) with Illy closed (more tedious but also more thorough and reversible);
5) Look through and try out the relevant among the Other options (follow the link with that name, Item 7) is a list of usual suspects among other applications that may disturb and confuse Illy, Item 15) applies to CC, CS6, and maybe CS5);
Even more seriously, you may:
6) Uninstall, run the Cleaner Tool (if you have CS3/CS4/CS5/CS6/CC), and reinstall.

Resizing a project in Captivate 7

Hi,
I am currently having problems when I try to rescale my project in Captivate 7. I recorded my simulation and the dimensions are 1337x812. I am trying to reduce it to around 720x437 because I will need to import it on articulate.
When I try to rescale the project, the background image becomes distorted. Text on the background image become unreadable.
I've read the thread regarding resizing in captivate 5 and the solutions shared there are not working on my end. Maybe there is a different way to solve this problem in captivate 7.

Can you explain what your work flow was? Rescaling will always lead to a decrease in quality inevitably. The original width/height ratio is 1,6465.... very strange ratio. The new one is close but not the same, decimals are different. I think that is one of your problems. Why did you capture in that strange resolution at the first place? Try at least to keep the same width/height ratio when rescaling.
