HI Jeff - nope, nothing's changed as far as I am aware... did you remember to check the @ccess settings in your DVDSP prefs and in your DVD Player prefs?

  • DVD Access won't display PDF file ?!?!

We've gone round and round and are in ****.
We're trying to burn a pair of PDF files as a ROM onto the DVD as a separate entity, accessed from a menu.
    They DID open in simulator.
The files (2 PDFs) don't end up in a folder, just loose, on the top level of the DVD and don't show up on playback.
We've tried putting them into a folder ahead of time and point to it just like the tutorial suggests.
We did enable DVD access on DVD player.
Linking to a WEB URL works just fine (we do get the concept).
WHAT are we doing wrong ? It must be some kind of file naming thing...
Any help ? Past deadline and looking really stupid.

The folder you are pointing to becomes the top level of the DVD on build. This is correct, so ...
If - for example - under DVD-ROM, content, location you have selected /Users/mellon/ROM_FOLDER then inside this folder you need to create the sub-folder you want on your disc, eg 'PDF_EXTRAS', and put your two .pdf s inside this.
On your DVD you would then end up with three top level folders on build:
    AUDIO_TS
    VIDEO_TS
PDF_EXTRAS with the files in it

  • DVD Access not working on PC

I have several menus that go to a link when the link is clicks, and it works fine in a mac. But after installing DVD Access for PC, the links don't work?
I am using Ravisent Cineplayer, and also Windows Media Player. Neither of them work with DVD Access.
What progams are compatible with DVD Access?

DVD@ccess is not consistent in the PC platform. Sonic solutions has been referenced by others in this discussion but this is not a sure bet. Check the archives on the strategies and options.
I was presented this situation last fall and we concluded (with the client's blessing) to merely put up a splash screen directing them to the URL's. Not as elegant but the message was received and the call to action (despite not having the elegant solution) was acceptable to the client.
Lesson Learned:Ask what is the intention of the client and meet that need.

To access a DVD or CD on another computer:
Make sure both computers are on the same network (wired or wireless), and the DVD or CD Sharing software is installed on the computer with the optical drive.
Make sure the computer with the optical drive is set up to share the disc.
On a computer with Mac OS X v10.4.10 or later: Choose Apple menu > System Preferences, click Sharing, and then select the “DVD or CD Sharing” checkbox. Select “Ask me before allowing others to use my DVD drive” if you want to be notified when a computer tries to access the drive.
On a computer with Windows XP or Vista: Open the DVD or CD Sharing control panel and select “Enable Remote DVD or CD.” Select “Ask me before allowing others to use my DVD drive” if you want to be notified when a computer tries to access the drive.
Insert the disc into the optical drive.
On the computer without the optical drive, select Remote Disc under Devices in a Finder window sidebar. If you see the “Ask to use” button, click it.

If you are using two Macs you can try to do this via Target Disk Mode. Info here:

You'll need to provide some more information .... what current mac mini do you have? Click on the apple in the left corner of the menu bar, click about this mac, and what does it say for processor, memory, and os x version?
When you say you have no DVD, do you have the mac mini server or is the DVD broken?
You can't do anything with 10.6 Snow Leopard on a PowerPC mini, however, if it is an Intel-based mini, you could probably hook up the systems in target disk mode to install 10.6.

  • LINK TO A PDF FILE WITH DVD ACCESS

    Hello to everybody!
This is the first time I use this discussions area.
I'm desperate! I used the manual and all kind of online helps but still can't figure out how to link a pdf file inside dvd studio pro3. I enabled the dvd access but it doesn't work! I guess maybe it's something I do when a write the path where the file is or maybe the way I organize my folder! Anyways the thing is that it doesn't work not even in the simulation mode.
Please help me!! Thank you very much!
    Daria

    Hi Daria,
    Have a look at:
    http://www.kenstone.net/fcphomepage/dvd_access_linkfile.html
    or
    http://www.lafcpug.org/tutorials/basic_dvdaccess.html
It contains a pretty good tutorial and sample files on how to do this. It can be done and it also works on Windows if the PC enabler [email protected] is included as indicated in the tutorial.
    Cheers,

  • DVD @ access questions?

I am putting together a short promo DVD for a client and I have a catalogue of their products as an image on the DVD that you can access via the main menu. What I want to do is have it so the products are 'clickable' and will take the user [when online] to the clients web site. I did a search but I cant find out how to link this page to the DVD access settings in the inspector. Any help? Also, can you link a button to open up and email application so the user can email direct from watching this DVD? Questions questions questions....thanks in advance. Oh, Im on DVDSP2.

DVD@ccess is actually quite limited and not entirely compatible with the range of DVD playback software/hardware available on a PC... you might be better off using eDVD from Sonic (which is PC software, making use of the Interactual Player, rather than @ccess).
However, @ccess links are embedded in to a menu - so any button you have got needs to go to a menu that simply has the @ccess URL embedded and the menu needs to time out to return to where the button was. For launching a web site simply use the standard URL for the site, include the http:// info in that.
Now, sending an email is not going to work all of the time, but you can try it out and see if it has the functionality you want. The URL to place into the menu for DVD@ccess is the HTML 'mailto' code. simply write:
mailto:[email protected], replacing name, domain and .com with the revelant info. If you have got the @ccess links enabled on your Mac, try simulating the menu with this in it... you should see Mail launch (it takes a moment for it to appear, but should work). Whether or not this will work on a PC with Outlook I don't know...

  • DVD@ACCESS PROBLEM URGENT!!!

I'm putting together a multimedia DVD and I have all of the menus and video assests set up and ready to run in any dvd player. I just can't seem to get the DVD@ACCESS feature to work so that I can link a PDF file. I set it all up like it says in the manual but when I click Build, it doesn't copy the pdf file into the build folder. This project could mean about $15,000 worth of scholarship money for college.
    Message was edited by: loganbest

If you've run through all the steps correctly (and included the proper amount of "/"s) then you should be good. It's been a little while since I did the DVD@ccess thing, but it may be that the build doesn't actually put the PDFs in the folder. It may take you burning a test disk to see it.
There was something odd about needing to burn the disk to check it... I just don't recall what it was exactly. Try burning the disk and see if that helps.
    Hope that helps!

  • Automatically activate / click button in menu - dvd@access

    Hey all -
I'm creating a DVD in DVDSP 4.1.2. There are video sections as well as DVD@acess sections. I have a main menu with a handful of buttons - some go to video some go to dvd@access menus. My main menu is a still image.
What I want to do is have the user click on a button and have them go to the dvd@access menu...which would then load the internet site I have set up for the menu. What I want to do is immediately after loading the dvd@access menu I want a to activate a button on that menu and automatically send them back to the main menu. Effectively automating a "back" button. I want the web page to load and then send them back to the main menu to make another selection. Is this possible?
    Thanks in advance.

assign the menu a duration and use a timeout target.

  • "Not permitted" access to DVD menu once DVD starts playing --Mac DVD player

    Hi,
DVD works fine on standalone DVD player, but when played on an internal Mac DVD player, it won't allow me to stop the disc and go to the menu once it has started playing. It says "Not Permitted." I've tried a couple different macs.
I made my video in FCP5 with chapters and exported as MPEG2 via compressor to DSP 3.0.2. I need the chapters to work correctly on a Mac DVD player as it is an instructional video which will accompany all the Mac Media Carts that have been purchased for our school district -- it has to play correctly on the included laptops.
    Anyone have any ideas?

When you press STOP in the DVD Player, the DVD stops, no longer running. That's the reason that when you try to press MENU appears the Not Permited message: no way to go to the menu because the DVD is not playing.
That's the normal behaviour of the DVD Player. I think that's the way that thinks works in every DVD player . . . "I think".

Hi there, I have been experiencing this problem on and off with various media types (originally I had issues burning to any disc - cd or dvd- I upgraded to Snow leopard, and the problem was fixed).
Now i'm having issues READING home-burned DVD-R's, DVD-RW's ( I avoid using DVD+R's). Commercial dvd's load fine. I can burn to blank DVD fine. I have cleaned the internal DVD drive with a VCD cleaner, and tried resetting the SMC (http://support.apple.com/kb/HT3964).
I use an LG dvd recorder at home. The discs I use are SONY DVD-R and DVD-RW. These play without error on the LG dvd player.
However when I try to load the burned discs into the mac, the drive makes a whirring sound and spits out the discs within 10 secs. These are new discs with no scratches etc. I have tried setting the CD&DVD system prefs differently (opening the dvd in disk utility, finder etc) to no avail. I tried both finalizing the discs and un-finalizing them on the DVD player.
This is driving me nuts as I am a film student and need to access my burned dvds!
note: I recently had my computer serviced in the last 6months as the hard-drive failed (I live in Christchurch, NZ and the computer was damaged in the Sept 2010 quake). The comp was relatively undamaged in the more recent Feb 22nd 2011 quake, but because of the shaking, could there have been substantial damage to the internal disc drive in this case??
any help would be greatly appreciated! Cheers

Not sure what else may be the cause of the issue; but if there's
a chance of other hardware damage after an earthquake, it
may be wise to have someone check over the computer.
{I've asked this post be moved to the Intel-based iMac forum, yet the issue
is likely a generic one not limited to a build model vintage of computer. My
    name's avatar is of the representative PowerPC iMac G4, of this forum area.}
For general disc burning, I use a small free-ware utility that makes it clear
what I may be getting; of course it makes quick work and the other methods
function correctly on my Macs... see http://burn-osx.sourceforge.net/ and use
it with the setting for it to make discs that will work in Mac + PC. Worth a look.
    Good luck & happy computing!

Things & Software to avoid when authoring DVD
    BJMoose - 06:21am Jul 2, 2004 Pacific
[from a post by Neil Wilkes - last edited July 27, 2004]
There have been so many posts along the line of "I cannot burn my DVD in Encore, but Nero works well" that I thought I should share this info with you all.
As we know, DVD Authoring is very dependant on timing, and on not having other apps getting in the way & locking up the burners, So here is a list of software that is known to interfere with GEAR drivers. It is a raging cert that this also applies here, as all authoring apps are the same sort of thing.
These 3rd party apps are junk software, to be quite blunt (I expect to get flamed over this, but I cannot help the truth), and should never be installed on an Authoring system.
Anyway, here is the current list of known problem software.
    1. B's Clip: This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove programs, then reboot to remove it. For more information, visit the B's website at http://www.bhacorp.com.
    2. Direct CD or Drag to Disk: These are applications from Easy CD Creator from Roxio. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. To remove them you need to do to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. There you can select Easy CD Creator to change, not remove. Then you must click next until it gives you the option to modify. Then either Direct CD or Drag to Disk should be selected and changed to "make this option not available". Then click next and while the program may look like it is installing, it is removing those options. One thing to remember is that both Direct CD and Drag to Disk will not be installed at the same time. For more information, please visit Roxio's website at http://www.roxio.com/en/support.index.jhtml
    3. GoBack: backup software that constantly runs in the background (Terminate and Stay Ready) this needs not only to be turned off, but disabled. Unfortunately, this may cause some restore points to vanish, but it will free up a lot of hard drive space. For more information visit Symantec's web site for GoBack at http://www.symantec.com/goback/index.html
    4. DLA: Also HP-DLA, Veritas DLA, and others. DLA stands for Disk Letter Assignment. This package will load a packet-writing software that will constantly talk to your CD/DVD writer, and can cause a number of issues while trying to write a disc. Disabling this software is not enough, as a portion of this package is always running after you start windows. You will need to uninstall it in Add/Remove programs, then reboot to remove it.
    5. InCD: This is packet writing software that comes bundled with Ahead Nero Burning Rom. For more information go to Nero's website at http://www.nero.com/en/
    6. Interactual Player and PC Friendly Player: These programs are DVD software viewers that often come on DVD movie discs, and will try to install themselves everytime you watch a movie on your computer. Please make sure to NOT let these install. Both programs interfere with all DVD Authoring software and should be un-installed from Add or Remove programs in control panel when found. In some cases, you will need to uninstall and reinstall your software to restore functionality after removing one of these. For more information about both players, visit http://player.interactual.com/
    7. McAfee Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar. Your DVD Authoring software then needs to be restarted. Whenever you are using your software, McAfee needs to be disabled to ensure unrestricted access to your drive. For more info go to McAfee's website at http://us.mcafee.com/default.asp
    8. Norton Anti-Virus: This is anti-virus software that when running, can cause errors. It needs to be disabled by right clicking on the icon in the lower right side of the task bar and the automatic updates should be disabled. Your DVD software then needs to be restarted. Whenever you are using your software, Norton needs to be disabled to ensure unrestricted access to your drive. The Norton Website is http://www.symantec.com/
    9. StopZilla: StopZilla can hinder required portions of various installers, causing the software to fail. Please completely disable StopZilla, then install your software. Once our software is installed, you may safely enable it again. If you have any difficulty using your software at a later time, you may need to disable StopZilla before going to use your software. Uninstallation is not required.
    10. MyStorageGuard: This backup software can hinder certain required files from being copied during the installation. Please disable this program before installing , and have it disabled any time you go to use your DVD Authoring software. Uninstallation is not required.
    11. Napster 2.0: This software includes some basic burning software that can cause burning problems if it is running. You will need to close this program completely before trying to use DVD Authoring software. In some rare cases, you will need to completely uninstall this package to attain full reliability, so if disabling does not solve your issue, please try uninstalling this software, and try again.
    12. Easy CD Creator 4.x: Due to the age of this package, it is no longer updated by the authors. There are bugs present in this older system that will cause NUMEROUS problems on your machine. Please Uninstall completely, and consider either the new 6.x version from Roxio ( http://www.roxio.com ) or Nero 6.x ( http://www.nero.com ). These packages, installed without the Packet Writing software (DirectCD/Drag to Disk/InCD), all work very well with DVD Authoring software.
    13. Spyware and Adware - some programs can install other software that can be damaging to your Operating System. Please scan for these programs with a Spyware utility. We recommend Ad-Aware, available freely at http://www.lavasoftusa.com
    14. Disable the Windows XP packet writing utility. To do so, go to My Computer, Right click oon your DVD burner, choose Properties. Find the "Recording" tab. Uncheck "Enable CD recording on this drive" While you are there, switch off all AutoRun options too. It means going through each option and then selecting "Take No Action" as the default option. AutoRun will "poll" the drive every few minutes to look for a new disc, and if it finds one it will try to open it.
    15. Symantec PCAnywhere has been reported to cause problems with Encore as the awvid5.dll file it installs is a video driver designed to facilitate the transfer of screen information from one computer to another. Sadly, this causes a conflict which can cause XP to restart - or give a bluescreen if the "Automatically r
