DVD and CD not working right

When I play a DVD on my PC, I get talking before the people start talking. The picture stops and go.
Then when I put a CD in, there is no sound. Everything worked good before. Could you tell me what is wrong.

I understand that your DVD/CD optical drive is not able to read the audio on discs properly, and I would be happy to assist you in this matter!
Does the audio work when playing a file on the computer, or when streaming a video? Is this a recent or a reoccurring issue?
In the meantime, I recommend re-installing the original software and hardware drivers that first came with your computer. This can be done by following the steps in this document on Using Recovery Manager to Restore Software and Drivers (Windows 8). To update the newly installed software, please follow this resource on Using HP Support Assistant (Windows 8). This should help to ensure that the audio drivers work correctly when playing optical drive media.
I also suggest taking a look at this document on Resolving DVD and Blu-ray Movie Problems (Windows 8) for additional troubleshooting steps.

Three years later and still not working right

Moved to my new address about 4 1/2 years ago, and for 18 months never any problems, 100% working, 1MB reliable. Then something changed !!! Got a new Homehub (with blue lights on), and since then DISASTER. The line drops (log states "unreachable") and some days if the winds in the right direction I can get 2MBs, otherwise its down to 64kbs (I kid you not). As I work from home (computer/server support) I pay the higher rate for my BB (unlimited) and the service offered is **bleep**. Over the last 3 years I have had 4 engineer visits, who have changed the faceplate each time for the latest version, and have confirmed its NOT MY FAULT, its the exchange or its the ext wiring to the excahnge. Once they even traced it back a few miles and told me they dug the road up to change a connector (funny I drive down that road all the time and never saw them digging up the road the day they claim to have). My latest saga ? I'm lucky if I get 90 secs without being kicked off (I had to cut and paste this). The hub logs state some of the following

And it goes on and on like this, as a result it kicks off any wireless connected devices (printer etc), which will no longer connector till they are rebooted. If the homehub is powered down, and back up then the internet works fine for a few minutes, then crash down it goes again. Got engineer number 5 coming thursday, but I think the same will happen again, new faceplate, and told its the exchange or the wires to the exchange! Anyone got any clues or suggestions I can use to get this resolved ? By the way neighbor is with Pipex and never has any problems, yet they did when with BT ? strange I thought they used the BT lines ?

Drag and Drop not working right in IE

Hi,
I am using CP8 and created a course that has 2 drag and drop interactions. The first drag and drop works just fine in all browsers, but the second drag and drop isn't releasing the next button (on success) as it should be, but it's only doing that in IE (8 and 11). It works just fine in Safari and Chrome and shows the Next button when the learner gets the answer right.
Any ideas on why it would be doing that?

No-one seems to know jim. Apple don't care about all these bugs in Leopard. They'll release Snow Leopard later this year probably and tell us all to upgrade to that, because it works better.
Guess I will just have to stick with this flawed OS until I can afford to buy a linux machine.

Drag and Drop not Working right

Since last upgrading to 8.0.2 I have been experiencing problems when trying to Drag and Drop songs into playlists. When I click and hold a song to drag, it will not consistently hold the song. Sometimes it won't hold at all, sometimes when dragging it will bounce the song back to where I clicked on it and sometimes it will just drop wherever it wants to.
I am also having the same problem when trying to manually drag playlists to my 4GB nano. I have iTunes set to do automatic for my 80 GB iPod Video which works fine, but I set it to manual for the nano.
When dragging a playlists they sometimes will let go over another playlists as I am moving it and wind up in that one. Other times it will not let me get near the nano and will jump back to where it was. It is very erratic and frustrating.
Is this an issue with this version og iTunes?

Pages iPad Cut and Paste not working right in latest update

First -- everything on my iPad is up to date with iOS and Pages update...and everything has been rebooted and works just fine...
BUT -- new problem...anytime I select a paragraph and cut and paste, it places it in a text box, resizes it, and inserts this text box into the document where I paste. That then remains as it's own section and not a part of the larger document.
Did something go wrong? Did I miss some setting to turn off? I don't want anything I copy and paste to be put in its own text box, merely to paste it into the same document in a different place.
What went wrong here?....

If you want to paste text in with other text, you need the cursor/caret to be in text when you paste (keyboard should be up on screen). Sounds like you do not have the keyboard up, so it's creating a new text box for you.

Sluggish at initial opening and loading websites, google maps print and images not working right, problems are not present in Chrome and Safari

Firefox is very slow opening. Web pages load slowly. When I go to images in a Google search, the pictures take a long time to load, and when I click on an image, then the back arrow, the loading time for the previous page is very slow. When I print a Google map, it is small, rather than full-page. In Google Chrome or Safari, the same actions product immediate results. I cannot get Google desktop to work.

This sounds like a network problem, since it goes away when you connect through a different network. You'll need to talk to your university's IT department about this.

Mms and sms not working right

I just bought a go phone from at&t and am having a problem with the texting function. I have gotten a text saying "no sub" on many of my contacts and multiple times on each contact. I had this problem on my older go phone as well, although it said "no subject" instead of "no sub". when i click on the text to veiw it I am given an option to retrieve the text but that doesn't seem to do anything. I have had the same number for both go phones, but different sim cards for each phone (not sure if that matters at all but I guess its worth knowing). It would be great if I could find out what this text means, thanks.

Programs suddenly quitting on my Macbook Pro and Airport not working right

I upgraded from an ibook to a Macbook pro about a month ago. Over the past month at least once a day a random program will "unexpectedly quit" on my computer. I have updated all the software on my computer and dont really run much peer to peer software. Also, after waking up from "sleep" my airport will suddenly stop working or even recognizing the my network. This is only solved by a restart. Can anyone help with this? I never had these problems with my sturdy old ibook. Between the high temp my computer reaches, the relatively short battery life, and the issue with all the software quitting I'm starting to feel like I was sold a lemon. Any positive feedback would be appreciated.
macbook pro 15' Mac OS X (10.4.6)

I have a 15 inch mbp and while i am using it the computer shuts down while i am working in word. This is upsetting as I am losing what I havent saved since the last save.
This problem cropped up today. Any thoughts or suggestions. I havent added anything by way of ram or other hardware.

This same problem has happened again a few times. Tech support says the problem is the cmos battery and I need to send it in to get it fixed. Well, this is my only laptop so I cannot be without it for a few weeks so I can't do that.
This is extremely frustrating because this laptop was purchased less than a year ago. Why is this happening? I had my previous Dell laptop for 6 years and never had an issue like this. This is unacceptable to me. If I could still return it, I would have.

Satellite A500 and Win8 - DVD drive is not working

*Uninstall the Toshiba programs:*

• TOSHIBA Disc Creator
Then restart your PC using the Power-->Restart option in Windows 8.
Your CD/DVD should be accessible now.
For help with uninstalling these programs follow the instructions below
*To Uninstall a program or application:*
1. At the START screen type Control Panel
2. Select Programs --> Uninstall a program
3. Find the two programs listed above and uninstall these applications
4. After the application programs are uninstalled restart your computer using the Power-->Restart option in Windows 8
5. When the computer power back on the CD/DVD drive should be available
If the CD/DVD drive still does not appear follow the instructions below to uninstall a device driver
*To uninstall a device driver:*
1. At the START screen type Device Manager
2. Select Device Manager > DVD/CD-ROM drives > right click on the device displayed > select Uninstall.
3. After the driver uninstalls, power down you computer using the restart method. The driver will install automatically when the computer restarts.
4. The CD/DVD drive should now be shown.

IPad 2 was updated to latest iOS 7 and has been not working right since. I have tried to do a restore but still continues to go into reboot mode by itself and very erratic. Can no longer trust it. I tried to complain to Apple but have to give them 20 buck

iPad has not worked right since it updated to latest software. Tried to question Apple about it but it costs 20 bucks just to lodge a complaint. Is this normal Apple behavior or am I missing something. Also anyone else having issues with upgrade to iOS7. It was working great until that point and now goes into reboot mode often and sometimes will continuously reboot several times. I have tried to restore but that didn't clear the problem. Any thoughts or help would be appreciated.

I've never seen this issue, and I handle many iPads, of all versions. WiFi issues are generally local to the WiFi router - they are not all of the same quality, range, immunity to interference, etc. You have distance, building construction, and the biggie - interference.
At home, I use Apple routers, and have no issues with any of my WiFi enabled devices, computers, mobile devices, etc - even the lowly PeeCees. I have locations where I have Juniper Networks, as well as Aruba, and a few Netgears - all of them work as they should.
The cheaper routers, Linksys, D-Link, Seimens home units, and many other no name devices have caused issues of various kinds, and even connectivity.
I have no idea what Starbucks uses, but I always have a good connection, and I go there nearly every morning and get some work done, as well as play.
You could try changing channels, 2.4 to 5 Gigs, changing locations of the router. I have had to do all of these at one time or another over the many years that I have been a Network Engineer.

Has the unit EVER been jailbroke?
If "No," first try a system reset. It cures many ills and it's quick, easy and harmless...
Hold down the on/off switch and the Home button simultaneously until you see the Apple logo. Ignore the "Slide to power off" text if it appears. You will not lose any apps, data, music, movies, settings, etc.
If the Reset doesn't work, try a Restore. Note that it's nowhere near as quick as a Reset. It could take well over an hour! Connect via cable to the computer that you use for sync. From iTunes, select the iPad/iPod and then select the Summary tab. Follow the on-screen directions for Restore and be sure to say "yes" to the backup. You will be warned that all data (apps, music, movies, etc.) will be erased but, as the Restore finishes, you will be asked if you wish the contents of the backup to be copied to the iPad/iPod. Again, say "yes."
At the end of the basic Restore, you will be asked if you wish to sync the iPad/iPod. As before, say "yes." Note that that sync selection will disappear and the Restore will end if you do not respond within a reasonable time. If that happens, only the apps that are part of the IOS will appear on your device. Corrective action is simple - choose manual "Sync" from the bottom right of iTunes.
If you're unable to do the Restore, go into Recovery Mode per the instructions here. You WILL lose all of your data (game scores, etc,) but, for the most part, you can redownload apps and music without being charged again. Also, if you have IOS-7, read this.

I have an older IMac 5. I installed snow Leopard on. Now my DVD drive is not working. Discs go in but it dosn't boot up or show in finder. Then disc won't eject unless i shut down and restart. HELP !

Snow Leopard cannot run on a PPC G5 Mac as it requires an Intel processor. Please confirm what Mac you have.
