DVD assets, laptop and project set-ups

Hi,
I am developing an application that involves the use of a
laptop and projector in a presentation/educational style situation.
Of course in thsi situation the application should run display on
teh laptop screen as well as on the projector.
Any issues of using the keys Fn + F4 to cycle through the
display combinations, are there anyother issues I need to take not
of. Does the DVD Asset Xtra work under these conditions in the
first place? Because the OnStage DVD professional apprently
explicitly does not do so until a further update sometime in Q4
this year (that is what I was told by Visible Light)
Thank you very much,
Nik C

  • Play DVD on laptop and transfer to iMovie?

    Hi all.
Is there a way to play a home burned DVD on a mac laptop and transfer it to iMovie on another Mac?
I have a DVD that I need to take some footage off of and put into a section of an iMovie project. For some reason it freezes on my stand alone DVD player but plays alright on my mac laptop.
    Thanks much!

  • Play DVD in Laptop and stream to Apple TV  ?

Is it possible to play DVD movies in our laptops and stream it to ATV 2 ?
We don't have a DVD player but we have 3 laptops and watch movies on our laptops.

  • New Blogs:  Asset Accounting and Project Systems

There are two new blogs out this month in the ERP space.
Dominic Nadeau has blogged about a useful tcode in PS to track changes to a project.
    /people/dominic.nadeau/blog/2008/06/09/fields-in-problem-in-a-project
I've written a blog on the Schedule Manager Monitor.  I've given an example related to Asset Accounting but it works for most all areas in FI/CO.

When you create the WBS in will create from there an AUC. In the auc in the tab origin you see the project number.
When you settle it from the AUC (in PS) to the final asset you found the AUC number back in the asset tab origin. You can click to on the posting on the asset

  • Exporting and importing set-ups

Is anyone aware of a neat way to export all set-up information (e.g. ID, roles, even passwords, flex-fields, etc.) from one Oracle instance to another, so that if we want to perform a fresh Oracle Apps install, we do not have to manually re-enter the set-up information but will end up with the new instance having exactly the same set-up as our existing environment?
    - we have GL, AP, PO, Grants/11.5.3 on RDBMS 8.1.6, Sun Solaris
    Thanks!

I have the same question but under MS Windows.
    Thanks in anticipation.

  • Can I have 2 completely different set ups for FF (different users--one visually impaired)

I have been using FF for several years and really like the way I can enlarge the text and size of the fonts on the toolbars, among other things. My wife, however, has very limited vision, and has been using IE and she cannot do any of that and she has been having other IE problems as well. I just installed Chrome to check it out, and there does not seem to be a way to do any of that either (too bad Chrome). There are 'high contrast' themes, but they do not do enough, or are the wrong colors, or cause lots of problems with some pages. Is there a way I can use 2 completely separate versions of FF, with different tool bars, screen fonts, colors for the toolbars, sizes of the fonts, a way to have 2 completely separate bookmark and preference lists, etc.? As the computer is shared, we would need to be able to toggle between users and the set-ups. The ability to configure FF the way you want is really so far ahead of the other browsers.

You can create another Firefox profile folder for your wife if you both use the same Windows account.

You can add -no-remote to the command line to open another Firefox instance with its own profile and run multiple Firefox instances simultaneously.

Note that you can't open external links (i.e. click a link to open the default browser) in a Firefox instance that is started with the -no-remote command line switch.
You can look at this extension to adjust the font size for the user interface.

You can use the NoSquint extension to set font size (text/page zoom) and text color on web pages.

  • Making a DVD with HD and SD assets

How can I make a SD DVD with HD and SD assets and retain the highest quality on the HD material? I have tried mixing the short vidoes on an SD timeline in Final Cut Pro, then rendering out the HD and export using Best Quality 90 min DVD settings in Compressor. I then import that file into a DVDSP project, and then chapter out that track and make stories to create separate play buttons for each video and a Play All button as well. The quality of the HD material seems worse than that of the SD material. Any advice is much appreciated. Thanks. Robin.

Do you know how to best compress HD for optimal play on standard DVD players?
If I am just dealing with HD material, I will send out the timeline as a self-contained .mov in ProRes (I like self-contained, saves some time on re-encoding) then use Compressor to make a SD m2v. You can start with the preset but then go in and change the frame controls to “Better” and also change the encoding rate if there is room to increase the rate.
    Calculating rates [information here|http://dvdstepbystep.com/faqs_7.php]
Can get very good results from HD material delivered as SD format.
When mixing things, it becomes more challenging. Depending on the material (is most of the material HD or SD in original format, can they be edited separately or do they need to go from one to the other to make the movie, etc.) I may try various approaches. If the majority of the footage is HD, I may just go with an HD timeline (though the SD material will not look as good.)
When you say the quality of the HD material is worse, what is worse? Given all things being equal, camera quality (in other words you are not using an extremely high end SD camera and a $300 consumer HD cam, one is really good lighting with little movement, while the other is high speed race cars in streelights at night) the HD footage shouldn't look worse than the SD material...

  • I have an HP Pavilion g6 laptop, and am trying to set up my recovery discs. I get an error message

I have an HP Pavilion g6 laptop, and am trying to set up my recovery discs.  I get an error message that states "inserted media not supported".  I am using CD-R Music discs.  Is the problem "Music" ?  Will it not recognize a blank music disc?

    Hi,
Yes, it is the discs that are the problem - you will need to use good quality DVD+R or DVD-R discs.  See the section under the sub-heading 'Create a set of operating system Recovery Discs' on the link below.

  • HT1583 I'm trying to burn a Magic DVD in iDVD and I get a message stating "not enough free disc space for encoding the remaining assets. How do I resolve this?

I'm trying to burn a Magic DVD in iDVD and I keep getting a message stating that there is not enough free disc space for encoding the remaining assets. How do I resolve this?

It means your hard drive is too full to accomodate the project and its many swap files etc.
You need to move some files (not applications) to your external hard drive, and keep at least 25-30GB free.

  • What does this mean and how do I fix it: "The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:  - There appears to be a broken asset in your project. Correct this problem before burning this project."

What does this mean and how do I fix it: "The following warnings and errors were found during the validation of the current project:  - There appears to be a broken asset in your project. Correct this problem before burning this project."

It means that iDVD has found a problem with one of the movies added to the project.  Did you edit the movie after it had been added to the project.
Create a new project and add your assets, movies, slides, etc. again and follow this workflow to help ensure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the  File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option.  This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image and launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding was good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

    BOB we need you urgently
Perhaps Bob will see this thread, he is the professor in these cases.
You do not use a WEP password but wpa/wpa2 on router and equipment.
All equipment connects to WiFi, but for your iPad.
Even with all other equipment WiFi off, you cannot connect your iPad.
Your iPad connects to other WiFi nets correctly.
All resets etc done on iPad and Router.
Still I am not sure it is your router for sure, frustrating...
I want to test 2 other things:
    1. in your iPad, set everything OFF in Settings/Cellular, turn off/then/on your WiFi, and see whether it will still not connect...
    2. If that does not do it: disconnect the router as well as the modem from the power, for 15 seconds, then reconnect the modem, let it fully start, then reconnect the routet let it fully start, turn of your WiFi in iPad, then on, and see whether it will connect.

  • Is there a way to transfer or copy all my apps to another iPad with a different account? I was required in my job to use the one at work, but I would like to also see my current set ups and apps as in my personal one. Thank you so much!

What I suggest is that you try to pair your apple ID with you company ipad and see if it works.
    Here is why::
I believe that the Apple rules let you. They are something like:
-- for a shared iDevice, you may put the app on one device
-- for a device you use exclisively, you may put the app on five (or some number) of iDevices
I'm not lawyer, so how you interpred this is a question.
Now, you need to figure out how to do this.
In the past at least, apple used this terminalogy.
        Personal
        Institution
        Layered. combines personal & institution.
It depends on how your company has configured the iPad.
I have read where you can have upto three apple id per device.

  • I've got a new laptop, how do set up a new account and what will happen to the old account on my old laptop?

I have a new laptop and I want to set up a new account. Can I do this when I already have an account set up on my old laptop? what will have to the old account if I set up a new one? how do i set up a new account?

What exactly do you mean by account?  you wan to set a user on your laptop?
Do you wan to get a new apple Id on the new laptop? Why?
    Are these laptops Macs?
What exactly are you trying to do?
And what does this have to to with Appleworks, which is a long since discontinued Office suit.

No it is not possible.  Content purchased from the iTunes Store is permanently tied to the account from which it was originally purchased, and Apple does not provide a way to change it.
