DVD audio burning question

Hi. [Sorry, I'm new here incase it's in the wrong catagory]
I'm a switcher from PCs to a Mac.
I've got a question; I have some audio files that are in a 6 channel DTS audio format. Is there a way I can burn them on a DVD and preserve the DTS audio? I bought Final Cut Studio 2 with my Mac and it's saying that it doesn't recognize the files.
Any help I can get would be great.
Thanks a lot!

Hey Kevin
Toas should allow you to "copy" a DVD from one drive to another, so I'd put the master into your Mac, and the blank DVD into your new drive, open Toast, click the "Copy" tab, and you should be good to go.

  • Dvd audio burn.

I would like to burn the audio from a music dvd and be able to play the music on my ipod and iphone. Is this possible. Thanks.
    Tim.

Lots of DVD players will play files like MP3 and MP4 (AAC) from DVDs. It depends on the player. This is essentially the same thing as an MP3 CD, just that you're using DVD media.
This is not to be confused with DVD-Audio, however. It is possible to burn such discs with OS X now, and user Kay Marczoch (hi Kay!) has done so succussfully using some obscure software. It's been a while since I read his post about this, so I can't remember all the details. However, there's not much point in creating a DVD-Audio disc if you don't have multi-channel source files to begin with...
EDIT: Funny that Kay should post within a minute of me mentioning his name

  • Double Sided DVD format burning question

    Hi,
I have the latest version of DVDSP and wish to know if it is possible to burn a each side of double sided DVD in different formatts. Specifically, I wish to make one side a DVD disc, and the other side a DVD ROM disc that will contain AIFF or MP3 files to be imported into iTunes or simply played, by double clicking on the files, from the DVD disc itself. I would assume to burn the DVD ROM side, I would use the finder, or Toast, correct?
    thanks in advance.

    Ari,
There are a number of places you can get double sided media, here's an example:
    http://www.meritline.com/meritline/dvd-r-blank-media-94.html
You can indeed have dvd video on one side, and dvd rom material on the other. I would make a couple of cautionary notes however. One, unless there is great disparity between the size of the content on one side or the other (the larger the content in size, the larger the 'burn' ring on that particular side), then it will be hard to tell which side you have in before playing. There are small, inner ring labels that you can apply, but I'm personally not a big fan of sticky labels. Two, it's easy for the user to damage one side or the other since there is no 'label side' to use when handling the disc. It doesn't take very much in terms of a finger smudge or scratch to make a disc perform poorly on some computers or set top players.
Alternatives would obviously be to have two separate, single sided discs. If the total content (your dvd video and separate audio files) is less than a single sided disc, then you could put them all on a single sided disc and burn it through DVDSP with the added ROM content folder with your audio files. It should play the video content just fine, and the user can just open the folder on the disc and import/use the audio files. If the content would exceed a single layer, single sided disc; then a dual layer, single sided disc would be another option.

  • T61 cd/dvd audio,burning etc. functions no longer perform.

When I place a CD or DVD into the laptop I can hear the DVD multi working but the default Windows Media Player does not respond. All other computer functions OK. Whats up?  Thanks, MDO

Is DLA enabled on your drive?  I've seen that cause some pretty strange problems.
Right click on the drive icon and look for a DLA tab.

  • How do i burn an audio dvd in my thinkpad x-201 with ulthinkpad trabase and dvd/cd burner/ player

    hello,,
would someone please point me to directions about how to burn a dvd audio disc. i've looked at various lenovo sites, but no luck [i don't even know the how-to basics, so pls excuse my ignorance].  there doesn't appear to be any application/program for burning dvds and cds on this machine.
using windows xp pro, sp3, thinkpad x-201 with x200 ultrabase and dvd/cd burner/ player
    thank you.

hi, thanks for your earlier reply. here's a clarification of my question:
i have a cd with music from an album mix. because a cd lacks enough space to copy the entire album, i would like to burn it on a dvd, which has more than enough space.
do i simply copy the cd into windows media player's library, and then burn it from media player to a dvd?
or, is there a cd/dvd burner available from some manufacturers? i seem to recall roxio or nero as software that will give me what i want.
my lenovo x201 thinkpad rests on an ultrabase that has dvd/cd burners.
    i am so confused.
    again, thanks for replying.

  • Is this now where to ask DVD Studio Pro questions?  If not, please let me know where.  Here's my question:  Using DVD Studio Pro 3, when trying to burn a disc which is 4.5GB, I get error message "Not eough disk space in target folder".  What to do?

Thanks.  Unfortunately, I need to make a master DVD that can then be duplicated in bulk as a single layer disc.  This surprises me because I tried burning a different DVD project that has worked in the past which is also 4.5 GB and now I could not burn that either.  I also reencoded some material to get the new project down to 4.4 GB but it still would not burn.  Any ideas are appreciated.

  • Problem with Burning DVD/Audio

iMovie HD version 5.0.2. I have been editing movies and burning DVDs for more than a year and have not encountered this problem before. When I play my latest movie, there doesn't seem to be a problem with the music that I imported in only one of the audio tracks. However, when I try to burn a DVD, the video encoding proceeds as usual but the audio encoding stalls when it appears to be about 90% complete. I have produced movies that are 2 hours long and have not run into this problem. The current movie is a little over 1 hour long, so I don't think the length is a problem.
Background info: As in the past, the source of the movie I am editing is a DVD that Walmart converted from old video films. I CINEMATIZED the DVD which I have done in the past to be able to edit the movie. When I copied the WALMART version of the movie, I only imported/copied the video portion and NOT the audio.
I hope this explanation of my problem is detailed enough. I am not very technologically educated so I am limited in my ability to explain the details.

    Hi
    May be this applies.
    *No audio on DVD disc.*
    Most common origin:
    1 Imported audio from iTunes:
    • In iTunes copy out as an audio-CD .aiff
    • Use this in Your movie project
2 Strange audio formats like .mp3, .avi etc.
    • Change them to .aiff. Use an audio editor like Audacity (free)
    Before burning the DVD:
    • Do a DiskImage (File menu and down)
    • Double click on the .img file
    • Test it with Apple DVD-player
    If OK:
    • Make Your DVD - or -
    • Burn from DiskImage with Apple Disk Util tool - and at an as slow speed as possibly eg x1
    • OR burn with Roxio Toast™ if You got it

  • Error messages during burning DVD audio

Here's what the Help Menu offers:
    Exporting a movie to iDVD
Once your movie is ready for viewing, iMovie HD can automatically export it to an iDVD project that you can burn on a DVD. You can then view your DVD on a television using a DVD player or on your computer screen using the Apple DVD Player.
Note: Before you export your movie to iDVD, you can add chapter markers to it so that viewers can quickly review different sections of the movie on DVD. If you've added chapter markers, they are exported with your movie, and you can use them to add scene selection menus to your iDVD project.
Not all computers support iDVD. See your computer's manual to find out if your computer does.
To export your movie to iDVD:
    Choose Share > iDVD.
Click the "Share selected clips only" checkbox if you only want to share clips you selected.
    Click Share.
iDVD opens and your movie appears in a new project in iDVD.
For more information about using iDVD, choose Help > iDVD Help when iDVD is open.

  • Question about choosing an external dvd/cd burner

The burning speed listed in my iTunes preferences goes up to 24x, then "Maximum Pssible". I am thinking of purchasing a LaCie DVD/CD burner that has write(48x)/rewrite(32x)/read(40x). When using with my iMac does this mean that I can burn at 48x with the iTunes burning preferences set to Maximum or does the maximum burning capabilities with my iMac top out at 24x?
Also, the internal burner device (a Matshita model) seems to have something called buffer protection. Can anyone explain what buffer protection is and is a mandatory consideration when using second, external player/burners?
    Thanks for any help.

The 24X currently in iTunes is reflecting the speed that is capable of the internal burner in your iMac.
Also, the internal burner device (a Matshita model) seems to have something called buffer protection. Can anyone explain what buffer protection is and is a mandatory consideration when using second, external player/burners?
This is to ensure that your burner does not run out of data while it is burning. If the burner runs out of data, the burn will fail.

  • Quick question about Creative DVD audio pla

    Hi all,
I loaded all the drivers and software that came with my Sound Blaster Audigy 2 ZS. The kit came with a DVD audio sampler disc. When I put the DVD audio disc into my computer DVD ROM dri've, it automatically navigates to the Creative Audio DVD player. The only problem is that the "play" button is greyed out. It will not play the disc. It show in the staus window that the sampler disc is there and ready to go. I have tried every button but can not get to play.
Any ideas what I am doing wrong?
    Thanks,

Now when I launch the DVD audio player and try to click on a button it just freezes up and have to end the program in task manager

  • DVD MENU, burn using TOAST

Has anyone tried this, building a menu using DVDSP, after you build your menu -- you have 2 folders, Video TS, Audio TS. Do you have to burn your DVD using burner inside DVDSP? Or can I drag those TS folders into TOAST and burn it there. If so, where do I drag these files? Data? or Video?
    Appreciate your time and suggestions...
    KChen

    KChen:
I'm a little confused about what you mean with "DVD
MENU" . . . but the answer is yes, you can use Toast
    to burn your <b<disc</b>.
In Toast 7 go to Data and choose format DVD-ROM
UDF. NAme your disc and drag both VIDEO_TS and
    AUDIO_TS folder inside. Burn.
Another approach is creating a disc image of
your build in DVDSP and use that img file in Toast or
OSX Disk Utility. You can find here a complete
tutorial about Creating Disc Image in DVDSP (from
    www.kenstone.net site).
    Hope it helps !
    Alberto
    Dear Silal:
You know how DVDSP allows you to build your menu with a nice template and navigation buttons. When you burn DVD using Toast, it only gives you one button.
So my question is, how do you use that nice menu layout that DVDSP offers, and then using Toast to burn your disc. Do you always have to open DVDSP to burn your disc? Or can you use Toast to burn your disc and keeping it stored away so everytime you want to make a copy, all you have to do is use Toast.
The second part of my question, if I want to burn my disc using toast with the template built from DVDSP, do I burn it by dragging in the TS folders into DATA or VIDEO in Toast.
I hope this is clearer, and I appreciate any suggestions, I'm very new at doing this.
    Many thanks!!!
    KChen

  • Dvd audio only

i am trying to convert dvd audio into a digital format so i can play the audio file in my itunes. i followed some posts which claimed i needed OSE x, and a52decX 0.25. the later program...turned into a .sit icon on the desktop which asks me how to open the program(which i dont know). i also have a folder from the osex program...which is a file with mpeg2 files in it. what do i do from here? please help, and let me know if there is another way of doin this.

A .sit file needs to be expanded first - Use Stuffit expander for that.
Regarding the second part of your question: Use OSeX to extract the audio part only. - Under normal conditions there should be .AC3 files as result. This files that need to be converted to a file format that will work on iTunes. For That I use "mAC3dec" to convert the AC3 to AIFF or MP3.
