DVD Audio- I want sound from sides, not r

Is there any way to reconfigure so that surround sound from dvdaudio comes out of the side speakers instead of the rear when using a 7. setup?

Blakejohann,
I am not aware of any way to do this. The mapping to the channels is discrete and our card doesn't have software that allows remapping channel outs.

  • Inspire T7900 no sound from side...

Hi there, i've just buy an "Audigy2 ZSplatinium", an "Inspire T7900" and a "decoder DDTS-100"
i've try to connect my sound card to my sub without the decoder, i don't have any sound from side speaker, if i switch rear and side speaker, the speaker itself works, but it seems the sounds don't come to the side...
i've try to connect with the decoder, in analogic, and optical, same problem...
when i try to calibrate the audio systeme, i can hear sound from front speaker (all 3), both rear, but when the programs wants to test side one, i got a horrible sound, like "HIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIII III" at the place of the usual "left side" or "center".... i've try to finish the calibrate but the programs say my cable aren't connect well, i've RE-check all, it's good.....
i've all deconnected, uninstalled, and RE- install ALL the syteme.... same problem
    I'm starting to become crasy.
I don't know if the probl?me comes from my sound card or my audio sytme....
    PLS help me....

    stiaros,
Not sure if you are able to install the EAX4 driver for your OEM card but you can try installing it - EAX 4.0 ADVANCED HD Driver Update for Creative Sound Blaster Audigy 2/Audigy 2 ZS. After you are done installing that, do a search for this filename CTPANEL.EXE, you should be able to configure the card through this.

  • FAINT sound from Side Speak

Hi! again, can someone help me configuring X-Fi Fatality & T7900 so that I have proper sound output from all 8 channels. Have Windvd 7. A very faint sound comes out from Side Speakers. When I test speakers, they seem GOOD with proper vol output through all channels. THX console also shows proper output of sound from all speakers. MP3 plays well, but When I play any DVD there is hardly any sound from side speakers. Tried every thing. Guess I am making a mistake in configuring setup. I tried using the below advise but still no go. -----------------------------------------------------------------------------2) Decode the AC3/DTS with your Sound Blaster.?You should choose this option if?you don't have an external decoder. In the DVD software, select 'SPDIF' as the audio output method and make sure that 'SPDIF Pass-through' in the souncard options is?off. The DVD software will now pass the compressed audio to your soundcard, which will then decode the data. The soundcard will output the 6 channels using the?analogue connections (or digital DIN, more on this later). If you try?to use a digital optical/coax connection to your speakers, you will only hear faint sounds from the front left/right speakers.---------------------------------------------------------------------------- - X-Fi Fatality & Inspire T7900WinDVD 7WinXP Pro.?[color="#ff0000"]Please Guide

  • Squeaking Sound from sides of iPhone 3G

I noticed today when I was on a call with my new iPhone 3G that if I slightly squeeze the sides that it makes a squeaking sound. I'm not sure it the sound is coming from between the silver trim or screen glass or from between the silver trim and back cover. Now the sound doesn't affect the phone in anyway; its just bothersome to know that it makes that sound. I got it on launch day and I don't want too much time to pass by that if it becomes worse over time I won't be able to do anything about it. What is the return policy for the iPhone 3G and would anybody know if they would exchange it on-site for a new one? I don't want them sending me one through Exchange By Mail and I certainly don't want them trying to pass on a refurb to me.

Take it back mate! Why should you settle for a product with defects when you've paid so much for it a committed yourself to a contract? I'm on my 4th Black 16GB iPhone 3G at the moment. I love the phone to bits, but these common defects are beyond a joke. My last handset had:
    Scrathed chrome bezel
    Creaky chrome bezel
Backlight leakage on the left hand side of the phone
    Poorly fitted rubber gasket
    Dust trapped underneath the screen
A chunk of glue stuck between my silent switch
Accelerometer wasn't calibrated properly, apps that used it tended to veer to the left
    and....
    1 dead pixel

  • [SOLVED] Only HDMI/Displayport audio outputs; no sound from speakers

I have a Dell XPS14 running Arch, which has worked fine for a while, but now has suddenly stopped detecting the internal speakers and headphones, so it will not play sound.   I have tried a few things to narrow down the problem, but I've had no luck so far.  In GNOME shell, when I press the physical volume up/down buttons on my laptop, it displays a sound icon with "HDMI / DisplayPort" underneath . When I go into the gnome shell audio settings menu, everything is greyed out, and no output devices are listed.
If anyone has any suggestions as to what the problem might be or how I might go about troubleshooting it from here, I would appreciate it.
One thing that struck me was that I had installed a music player, Clementine, recently, and I'm not sure if I did or did not ever have sound after that. I installed Clementine and two optional gstreamer0.10 plugins (bad and ugly). Since this seemed like it would be possibly related, I've since removed Clementine, the new gstreamer plugins, and all of their dependencies not needed by any other package. So I now don't think that is likely to be the problem. Just to be thorough, though, here are the packages which were installed:

Thanks again for the info and suggestions.  I thought the same thing regarding the sparse output of alsamixer, but since I never had trouble with the sound before, I don't know how much would have shown up when everything was working well.
I still haven't really found a smoking gun here, unfortunately.  As far as I can tell, the power saving settings look about right, because the power saving settings for the HDMI audio (which works) looks to be the same as the others.
Thanks for the link with more information regarding the module options for the intel sound driver.  I'm going to dig into those when I have time next week.  The thing that makes me less optimistic that I'm going to fix it with module options is that I can't figure out how those module options would suddenly change.
I'm also going to try out the linux-lts kernel to see if it behaves any differently, and then maybe boot another distro with a usb key to see if it works, and if so, what looks different.
Here's what I get from the suggested tests. Let me know if anyone sees something strange that I missed.

I installed the NEW 2.8.4 Drivers for my Audidy 2 ZS and now I have to sound comming from my side left speaker. When I do the speaker tests, all the speakers work except this one.
Is anyone else having this issue. I even reinstalled the drivers again to no avail.
Urgghgh this is anoying. I get dead silence from my side left. I am using Creative T7800 7. Speakers too by the way.

Hi iLLz I do not have this issue with the new drivers, however may I suggest you uninstall the old drivers first. To do this. Locate the downloaded driver exe. SBAX_WEBUP_LB_2_08_0004.exe Extract this with an application called WinRAR http://www.rarsoft.com Once you have extracted the driver file run the .exe called setup.exe in your drivers folder. eg. SBAX_WEBUP_LB_2_08_0004\Drivers Select the uninstall option. Good Luck
    As for additional info ...
When you update drivers by running the setup.exe found on \Drivers -folder, (or ctzapxx.exe found on it's \Support\i386 & amd64 sub folder ) --> select (tag) the "Overwrite existing shared ..." -checkbox --> you do not need to run this uninstall process at all.

  • No Sound from Side Speakers on P7800

I just got my P7800 speker setup and installed. I have an Intel D95PBL motherboard with a built-in 7.1 sound card. I plugged in the four jacks on the sub woofer (center, front, side, center) to the four jacks on the sound card. I set the switch on the Sub Woffer to "Direct" for use with 7.1 sound cards.
I used Intel's Audio Studio application (http://www.intel.com/design/motherbd/software/ias/) to configure the sound card for 7.1 speakers. I then used their built in test sound to check the channels. The Front, Center/Sub, and Rear speakers all tested perfectly. When I tested the Side channel, I got nothing. No sound what so ever. The graph display for side speakers in the Audio Studio shows there is something being played but I hear nothing out of them.
    Does anyone have any suggestions?
    T

I am having the exact same problem!!! Please help, I am using a D95PBL motherboard, and i have the P7800 speakers. The problem is that there are four connectors on the side of the audio cable that connects to the sub woofer. However on the one going to the computer, the blue one is missing which is the side speakers one. Is there a reason for that?

So I created a new Track but it wasn't soloed. Stymied. Finally I created a new Software Track and that was soloed, which I of course un-soloed and problem solved.
    Just an FYI.

Deleted a track some time ago that had the solo button down. didn't know at the time because i had others in solo mode also... Took the track out of solo no sound. I couldn't undo because i had already save the project. Just trying to get back..
Sorry about the post I'm new at it!

  • How do I mute the sound from the video camera when burning a DVD

Hi there.  I'm a new user of Elements 8.  I have compiled some clips and added a soundtrack to the movie,  When you preview the file you don't hear the sound from the video camera but when I burn it to a DVD you still hear the video background.  How do I burn the DVD without the background sound from the video camera?  On the DVD I only want to hear the soundtrack I added.
    Thank you,
    Doug

Thanks guys.  Both options worked.  Dowside to deleting audio (option I went with) appears to be that you lose the audio forever.  So if I ever wanted to bring the audio back I wouldn't be able to.
You are partially correct in that the Audio is no longer on your Timeline. It is still in your Project Panel, and you can move it back to your Timeline if ever needed. The complete removal from the Timeline is why I work with the Audio Mixer in cases like this. Also, on could alter the Gain on a Clip by Clip basis.
With using the audio mixer it appeared I had to mute each clip separately.  When I highlighted all the clips and selected mute for audio 1 it wouldn't mute all of the selected clips.
The Audio Mixer works at the Track-level, and not at the Clip-level. That is why I use it so often - one click, or slider adjustment affects the entire chosen Track. If it did not work at a Track-level for you, something is wrong. Now, if one has Clips on different Tracks, then Muting of all of those would be required, or one would have address things on a Clip-level basis.
Any way to use the audio mixer to mute the clips in mass?
See above for how it should work, and also the exceptions - Audio on several Audio Tracks.
Good luck, and remember that your Audio still resides in the Project Panel, should you ever need it again.

  • Audigy 2 ZS platinum : problems with DVD-audio di

    Hello, collegues,
I just installed new Audigy 2 ZS PL, and found that not working:
. DVD-audio player in "Mediasource Player" - as if I am trying to start the DVD-audio playing concerning Creative instructions ("insert disc and enjoy..."), both across icon
"DVD-audio player". The using DVD-audio disc is original, from the Creative Audigy 2 ZS box(with audio samples), OS Win XP with SP &2, all previous audio hardware was deleted before 2 ZS installation, speakers Inspire T7700. Each time after attempt to load DVD-player I'm forcing to reload PC. Same time, DVD-movies was playing normally (with "Intervideo DVD Platinum" software), but after third attempt to load Creative "DVD-audio player" I had as result the crash of normal DVD-moving playing (only front and central speakers was working), and it repaired only after full deleting audio from system and repeatedly fullfilled Audigy installation). Can somebody explain, what is this - Creative software lags or PC hadware conflict ?
    2. From the first time I can't use the "diagnostics" function : after loading of this programm, I see at the end of dialog only "click start" , but "start" in dialog box is absent! Same problem I had also with my previous "Audigy LS".

Few attempts more, nothing new, still not working. Do you know somebody anything about contain of the last creative update -could I hope on it to resolve problems?

  • T410 random beep sound( from machine for less than 5 mins) + screen freeze + Blue Screen (some time)

I have new purchased T410 during christmas time.
here is my machine spec(everything from Levono, did not upgrade any parts):
    T410, model 2516CTO
    8 GB RAM
    i7 CPU
    500GB HDD
    Integried graphic card
Windows 7 professional (applied all latest updates)
Problem random happen, for about 8 times,
    System works regularly
and all of sudden machine make continousely "beep" sound(from machine, not speaker),
    after that screen freeze,
and then sometime system go back to normal, sometime crash completely to blue screen(most time).
The whole problem takes about 3-5 mins.
1 time it even happen in safe mode (after log in, desktop freezed immediately, then blue screen).
I chkdsk the whole disk found no problem.
I call Lenovo tech support, he ask me restore the original OS(Windows 7 home prim), then he can help me.
I refused because that's mean i have to destroy all the work I done (spend almost a week to install development tools and software) .
Since the problem is random anyway, I just reboot and bakeup more offen. :-(
I used Thinkpad since IBM time, never have problem with previous 2 T Series machines, but this one, not happy.

  • DVD-Audio and "can not detect sound blaster card" with Audigy2 Va

I recently purchased an "Audigy2 Value" card from an eBay user, because I recently purchased some DVD-Audio discs. I downloaded the Audigy2 drivers from the website, and the Creative MediaSource player. 5. Surround sound worked fine for me, though sometimes the driver would reset to the default 2/2. sound and I would have to re-select 5. sound, which was annoying.
Then I was completely unable to get the MediaSource player to recognise my DVD-Audio discs, and the EAX functionality of the player would never work. The EAX logo never appeared in the player. When I tried installing the MediaSource player from an install disc, I got the message "can not detect sound blaster card". Then I discovered the world of EEPROM problems.
I followed advice from some other threads, including using ScanPCI to get information on the card, which yielded the following result.
When installed on my machine (Asus A7A266 motherboard) the ScanPCI reads:
    Vendor 02h Creative Labs

    Supports power state D
Current Power State : D0 (Device fully-operational, no power saving)
On another machine (specs unknown, it's a "house pc") I got this (with 3 entries!):
    Vendor 02h Creative Labs
    Device 0002h EMU0K Audio Chipset (SB Li've!)
    Command 0004h (BusMaster)

(Just a note: above you can clearly see that it does not say I have an Audigy, it thinks it is a SBLi've. Is this normal? The card IS an Audigy 2, it says so on the card.)
So, I put the card back on my own PC, thinking this has fixed my EEPROM, but I get the same as before. Subsystem ID 0002h. And of course the install software will not detect the card.
I realise that I could go back to using the web drivers, but this still leaves me with MediaSource not recognising the card and not enabling DVD-Audio or EAX, which is why I bought the card in the first place!
I have heard that the VIA chipset is possibly to blame for the EEPROM problems on the Audigy cards, and certainly it seems like it is not permanent, since it gave different information on the other PC. So now I am seriously considering getting a new motherboard.
Do other motherboards cause this same problem? I don't want to buy another board and get the same trouble. All I want is to be able to install my MediaSource and have it recognise my card so I can listen to my DVD-Audio discs.
    Cheers,
    Russ.

Figured out my problem. Installing the drivers from the web to begin with was a bad idea. They just did not work properly with the card.
The "card not found" problem has gone as well, after installing it in another PC. I am also using the proper install disc now, as the other one I was using turned out to not be for the Audigy 2 value after all, but was an Audigy 2 install disc. That easily explains the "Card not found" error. The differing results from the ScanPCI program are still bizarre, though.
Thanks to all of the people on the forum who posted information in other threads to help me deal with this issue. For now I am sticking with the original drivers from the disc and I am not upgrading.

My mac desktop will not provide sound from internal speakers.  When I go to audio devices window it only shows airplay.  How can I get internal speakers back.

There are many possible causes for this issue. Take each of the following steps that you haven't already tried. Some may not apply to your model. Back up all data before making any changes.
    1. Start with the steps recommended in this support article. Don't skip any of the steps. It's the starting point for further efforts to solve the problem.
    2. Run Software Update and make sure you have a fully up-to-date installation of OS X.
    3. If you've installed an application called "Memory Clean" or any other third-party software that is supposed to "clean" or "purge" memory automatically, remove it according to the developer's instructions and restart. You should do that even if the software is not causing the problem, because it's useless.
    4. Other third-party software that has been reported to interfere with sound output includes "Boom" and "Samsung Kies." If applicable, uninstall according to the developer's instructions (not by dragging something to the Trash.)
    5. If an AirPlay device is selected for sound output from iTunes (or from other applications via third-party software such as "Airfoil"), deselect it.
    6. Launch the application "Audio MIDI Setup" by entering the first few letters of its name in a Spotlight search and selecting it in the results (it should be at the top.) Select Built-in Output from the list on the left. If the Mute boxes are checked, uncheck them.
    7. If a red light is visible in the audio-out port when sound should be playing, the internal switch is stuck in the position for digital output. You may be able to free it by inserting and removing a mini-stereo jack of the proper size. Inserting any kind of tool in the port may cause damage that won't be covered by your warranty.
If there's no red light, the switch may still be stuck in the headphone position. Try to free it the same way.
    8. Disconnect all wired peripherals except keyboard and mouse, if applicable. If more than one display is connected, disconnect all extra ones. Restart and test.
    9. If you have a MacBook Air, turn off Bluetooth and restart.
    10. Start up in safe mode. Don't log in; just restart as usual when the login screen appears. When you do, make sure the words "Safe Boot" do not appear in the login screen. If they do, the system is still in safe mode and sound won't work.
    11. Reset the NVRAM.
    12. Reset the SMC.
    13. Triple-click anywhere in the line below on this page to select it:
    /Library/Preferences/Audio
Right-click or control-click the highlighted line and select
Services ▹ Reveal in Finder (or just Reveal)
from the contextual menu.* A folder should open with an item selected. Move the selected item to the Trash. You may be prompted for your administrator login password. Restart the computer and empty the Trash. Recreate your settings in the Sound preference pane.
*If you don't see the contextual menu item, copy the selected text to the Clipboard by pressing the key combination  command-C. In the Finder, select
              Go ▹ Go to Folder...
from the menu bar and paste into the box that opens by pressing command-V. You won't see what you pasted because a line break is included. Press return.
    14. Reinstall OS X after backing up all data.
    15. Make a "Genius" appointment at an Apple Store.
