DVD-audio player for os x?

Anyone know of a DVD-A player for OS X? Thanks.

Hey linuxuser,
If you're comfortable enough with the terminal, you may want to check out this sourceforge project. I'm not sure if this what you're looking for or even close to helpful but I couldn't find anything else either. Good Luck!

  • DVD-Audio player does not detect any DVD-Audio sour

    Hi,
I am trying to play a DVD-Audio disc on my computer using the DVD-Audio player software that came with my Audigy 2 card, but the software fails to detect my DVD-ROM dri've as a DVD-Audio source.
I can play audio CDs and DVDs with no problems using the DVD-ROM dri've.
The OS is WindowsXP Pro with SP and I have the latest patches applied to both driver and DVD-Audio player software.
I would appreciate any suggestions if someone experienced this anoying problem and solved it.
    Thank a lot!

DVD Audio encryption security has unfortunately been hacked using the decoders within WinDVD from Intervideo.
As a result, DVD Audio playback using the WinDVD/Audigy combination has been suspended on "new" versions of the software.
I am a registered user of WinDVD and upgraded to WinDVD 7 Platinum in June and DVD Audio was working fine.
I mistakenly downloaded an "upgrade" to WinDVD 7 at the end of July and found all my DVD Audio discs failed to play.
Intervideo (as usual) refused to respond to my technical support queries when I enquired as to whether the DVD audio support was removed in view of the breach of the DVDA encryption.
Thankfully the previous version was still available for download (after much searching on the web) - WinDVD.Platinum.7.0.Release.2.Build 27.07Using a new activation key from the Intervideo website STILL didn't enable DVDA playback on this previous version however.......... I was able to fudge this using the original purchase activation key by changing the PC system date to within 0 days of my initial activation key supply which I had stored in an email.Hey presto - back to WinDVD DVDA support!Intervideo are being very crafty.... they have updated the WinDVD website to remove all references to DVD Audio support and then were answering my technical support queries as if I wasn't configuring my PC correctly.
What versions of DVD Audio playback software are you using?
    Creative DVDAudio player? WinDVD (version?)

  • Mediasource DVD-Audio player prob

Ive had a problem trying to play back DVD-audio on this player. I put in the disc and it recognizes the tracks on the DVD, and even knows the bit depth and sampling rate of each song when i load them into the playlist(ex: foo it knows Foo Fighters is 24bit 88khz). But the player refuses to play. It either has the Play button greyed out, or simply wont play at all. Has anyone else had this problem, or could tell me howm to fix it's
    Thanks

Your not the only one. I'm having the exact same issue. I just purchased a Audigy 4 Pro, and the Gigaworks 7. package this week and I'm getting the play button greyed out also, on the DVD-Audio player software. I'm trying to use the DVD audio sample disc that came with the package. I found if you remove the selected tracks from the play list, the play button will become "acti've", but as soon as you push it, it freezes the program.
Did a search through the forum. Some named 'wxzcool' posted .03.05 about this same issue. Someone named 'hambone' also posted on .22.05 about this. So there is obviously something going on here with this software.
Perhaps there is a bad batch of DVD-Sample discs? Yet, do you know the sample DVD-audio flash program that starts when you first install the software? the one where you can push "test"? that doesn't work for me either. So I'm guessing it's not the DVD. It must be a software conflict somewhere. I just find it hard to believe that has never been identified by Creative and listed as a known issue/bug somewhere?! I mean, this card/software has been out for how long now...
I have tried almost everything and made sure I have it set to analog out, not digital. Will be trying a clean reinstall of windows xp and will let you know if that works for me.
Even though I didn't buy it for DVD-A capability, it is still very disappointing to spend nearly $000 CAN on this "top of the line" audio package and it doesn't work for what is advertised.

  • New drivers,dvd-audio player and console Audig

WOW, you guys look like you have taken your time and finished it properly!
Rather than use botched patches on patches etc! Congratulations!!!!! LOL.
All that is left to do is integrate the "Creative Surround Mixer" into the Console, and have that load at startup instead.
There is still a bit off different generational stuff mixed up on the graphics side.
Media source should be integrated into the DVD-Audio player now, most PC's should be able to cope with the extra overhead these days!

  • DVD-Audio Player - Please H

I installed Vista, and unfortunately lost the ability to play DVD-Audio. I have been following a lot of threads and information on the net, but I am still unable to play them.
+ PowerDVD and WinDVD: I cannot play DVD-Audios with CPPM encryption.
+ I used to play all my DVD-Audio with Creative's DVD-Audio player using Xp. I read that it is possible to install it in Vista. I follow the instructions (Run as Administrator, XP/SP2 compatability mode), but I get a -6003 InstallShield error.
    Can anyone help me?

    MiG_Anubis wrote:
If I try to install it this way I get the error "I-00".
If you get this error, it means some needed files are missing. So what to do?Go to the Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information folder and try to find the subfolder of the failed installation. We need to read the fileINSTALL.LOG from that folder and see which files are actually missing. (Alternati'vely you can search for that file and select the one with the latest date, assuming you try this exactly after the failed installation attempt)?Usually the missing files are called CTShared, which is the folder containing them. You can find this folder in the root of your original CD, just copy it in the folder where your run your Installation from. Offcourse it could be other files as well, but the procedure is the same.
PS:? For the first part, you will need to make sure you configured Explorer to show ALL hidden and system files.

  • DVD Audio Player - Where is

I am using an Audigy 4 card with Windows XP Pro SP2 and I cannot for the life of me locate the MediaSource DVD Audio Player. The Creative site has the MediaSource Player, Organizer, and Converter, as well as an update to the DVD Audio player, but it does not have the DVD-A player itself. Also, the installation CD that came with my card has every component of the MediaSource package except the DVD Audio player.
The Creative product page for the Audigy 4 confirms that the card is capable of DVD Audio playback, and the update for the DVD Audio Player on the driver page suggests I should somehow already have the player. The only way I can think of acquiring the software is by downloading installation CDs for other Soundblaster cards, but this isn't really a route I want to take. Does anyone have any ideas as to where I can find the MediaSource DVD Audio Player? Any help would be appreciated.

I downloaded the Audigy 4, 4 Pro, and 2 ZS install discs and performed the full MediaSource installation with each. Still, the MediaSource DVD Audio Player is not listed in MediaSource Go!, in the start menu, or in the MediaSource folder. Furthermore I've run a series of searches on my hard dri'ves to be absolutely sure the DVD Audio Player isn't installed and just hidden away somewhere.
I did manage to find MediaSource DVD-A Player installer elsewhere, but it refused to install. It gave the same message as I get with the DVD-A update currently on the Creative drivers page, saying that the required components were not detected. I assume this installer was looking for Audigy 2 drivers, while the DVD-A updater was looking for the DVD-Audio player which isn't there.
I've tried InterVideo WinDVD for playing DVD Audio, but it is not fully functional. If I disable 96/24 decoding, I can play the stereo tracks, but I just get silence on the 5. tracks. With the 96/24 decoding enabled, I get a lot of noise with the desired music slightly audible. I am using the analog connections from my Audigy 4 card.
My card itself is an OEM Audigy 4 SE. I don't think the card differs from the normal retail version other than that it doesn't come with a box or a remote, but I could be wrong. Still, it is listed as being capable of playing DVD-Audio, and comes with the same installation CD as the normal Audigy 4. The information about the card can be found here:
    http://www.ncix.com/products/index.php?sku=7936&vpn=30SB06000000&manufacture=Cr eative%20Labs
All I want to do is to be able to play DVD Audio discs without having to purchase any additional software to do so. I would like simply to have the Creative MediaSource DVD Audio player installed on my computer. This should not be at all difficult to accomplish, yet all I've gotten in my attempts so far is aggravation.
Again, any feedback would be very much appreciated.
Edit: Here's the ID of my sound card in the Device Manager

  • Is there an external cd/dvd burner-player for iMac

is there an external cd/dvd burner-player for my imac?

You can simply google for that; I'm sure there'll be plenty - just make sure it specifically states that it is compatible with Mac and the OS version you are running. I've had a LaCie for a number of years; it is self powered with FW port (they no longer make this one unfortunately); here is their non-Bluray option they have now:

(Personally, I prefer self powered instead of bus powered). They also sell Bluray burners.

  • DVD-Audio Player Missi

I just bought the Audigy 2 ZS soundcard and installed all the drivers and Creative Mediasource, but there is no DVD-Audio player as mentioned in the demo. Am I missing something here?
    Thanks,
    Randy

you don't really need that dvd-a player from creative if:
you already have one of the latest DVD video players (Like PowerDVD 6)
In the dvd player configure the audio as spdif. (it's same signal as creative dvd-a uses)but then you'll see probably some images or video(because it's a dvd player(audio/video/data))Message Edited by www_96KHz_tk on 05-2-2005 02:09 AM

  • DVD-Audio Player Update 2.00.75 won't inst

    Hi All,
I have and Audigy 2 ZS Notebook card.
I've installed the latest drivers (version 02.08.0004) today, and noticed the release notes states you should also install the DVD-Audio Player Update 2.00.75.
So, being a disciplined customer, that's exactly what i tried to do.
However, no matter how many times i've tried it, i can't seem to finish the installation of the DVD-Audio Player Update - somewhere during the installation i get the blue screen of death and the system reboots.
Needless to say, i've turned off all anti-virus, firewall etc.
    Any ideas?
    Thanks in advance, adam.

    Hi, Eck.
Nope, no 9x in here, XP pro SP2, all updates etc.
I've tried launching the DVD-Audio player as it is now (meaning after the installation crashed) and surprisingly (not) it won't launch (yet another crash, the application only this time, didn't take the whole system with it).
Another thing that might be related - Creti've system information can't seem to finish it's information gathering as well (crash).
And perhaps most annoying, it's all done on a fresh installtion of the card (completely re-installed it including registry cleaning etc.).
    Thanks again.

  • DVD-Audio player update/happy at la

    Greetings.
I just wanted to tell you folks that have the Audigy 2 card that have had
mucho problems with the DVD-A player, even with the last update,
here's what you may need to do.
Completely, and I mean completely, uninstall -everything- Creative.
Reinstall from the original disc, if available.
Find and Install latest driver for the card from Creative.
Run Autoupdate and install all the Creative Mediasource stuff and make
sure it all functions correctly. If you need all that stuff for portable players,
might as well get it now.
Then install the DVD-A player update.
I went through beaucoupe problems until it all just fell into place.
Now the DVD-A player launches every time the dri've spins up with a DVD-Audio
    disc.

  • Suggestions for new audio player for

    Hi all.
I am now in the market for a new digital audio player. I had a Creative Zen Micro, that succumbed to the infamous headphone jack. Now, due to Walmart's almighty warranty service program, I have a check for $250.
I have been looking at the Vision M and the Micro Photo, but am unsure of which I would like. I'm inclined toward the Vision, because of the video capability and the 30 gig dri've. But I have a feeling the Micro Photo will be perfect for me.
Does anyone have any advice besides search the forums and do my own research? I am already doing that, and still not sure. Also, have there been any major problems that are affecting these players?
Any other digital audio player recommendations will be welcome also. Anything with greater than or equal to a 5 gigabyte capacity, and plays audio well.
    Thanks much!
    Andy
Also, if this might matter - I have a spare battery from my old Zen Micro, and I have all the accessories (cable, power cord, etc). Would that mean I should be more inclined to the ZMP?Message Edited by moparhemifan on 0-3-2006 03:50 AM

moparhemifan wroteoes anyone have any advice besides search the forums and do my own research? I am already doing that, and still not sure. Also, have there been any major problems that are affecting these players?
Really it comes down to features. If 8Gb isn't enough space, the decision is made for you. If you want video support, decision is made for you
Both players are relati'vely new, and the problems affecting both won't have come to the fore yet (if there are any). The big let down with the Micro Photo for some has been the inability to play music and look at photos, and no album art. The Vision:M though has both of these functions. I know what player I would buy!

    Please advise.

I know there are a few manufacturers that make an adapter that connects where a factory 6 disk would connect and i heard they usually charge like $45 for it.im sure you can google to see if there is one made for your car.

  • Good audio player for E17 ?

Looking for ideas for an audio player to use for E17.  Don't want to use anything that requires to load up GNOME or KDE libs/services (which cancels out Amarok, which is a shame).  But I'd really like something that can obvously play mp3/4 files and pref podcasts as well.
Already got XMMS running, which is OK,but a little old hat.  Would really like something along the lines of Amarok type interface.
Any ideas would be greatly apprieciated.
    thanks,

If you just want to play some random files and podcasts mplayer plays it all.
MPD + a client you like (ncmpc, gmpc etc) is the best you can get in terms of playback, features and managing huge audio libraries with ease.
All the other jukebox types are well... poor to say the least and will all bring in alot of deps.
