DVD Burn Folders....... Please Help

Recently, I tried burning a dvd with some coursework on for a deadline on my MacBook (10.4.11). Everything went fine until a clicked burn in the burn folder of the disk. there was an error each time i tried burning the DVD, even when i tried creating a new burn folder and deleting the old one. i have since managed to burn it to a disc but i have the annoyance of everytime i open up Finder, i find two burn folders down the sidebar, and when i click on them, they say they "cannot be found"
please help....

Hi
You can drag the burn folders out of the sidebar to remove them.
Do you remember what the DVD burning error was?

I have created a project, a DVD with menus and subtitles in 2 languages, yet when I burn the DVD (both using build/format option and build format options separately)the resulting DVD has no main menu, actually it has no menus at all! it goes straight into the DVD film where I can change subtitles language only from the remote buttons. I have burned another project with menus succesfully..

    Hi
FIRST check that your Play Movie button in your menu has NOT an Auto Action selected that make it plays automatically your movie when the Menu loads. You'll find that setting in the Advanced tab of Inspector. If not . . .
You can try a workaround, no matter that if you have your Menu as First Play it must work. Try yhis:
    - Create a simple black JPG file i.e. in Photoshop
    - Create a Slideshow
    - Add a the JPG to the slideshow, set duration 2 secs
    - Set the Slideshow as First Play
    - Set Slideshow End Jump to your Main Menu
    Build and burn again.

  • Backup iTunes library problem using LaCie DVD Burner error message - help!

    Hi!
I just purchased a LaCie D2 DVD +-RW DVD Burner for my Mac Mini running OS 10.4.8 and iTunes 7.0.2. I've installed the latest LaCie drivers and iTunes recognizes the burner so no problem there. When I try to back up my purchased playlist iTunes checks the media everythings fine but when it tries to start the burn process I get this error message: "The attempt to burn a disc failed. An unknown error occurred (-8785)." It then ejects the DVD-R. The Burner works fine with Toast, so the issue is with iTunes. I've tried using both Apple DVD-R's and Sony brand just in case that was it. Any ideas? Please?
    Thank you,
    Sam

i recently got an error message while burning a dvd with lacie. i had been using the same cd's etc. found the solution on roxio boards (which don't allow just anybody to join obviously).
the problem is iSight. it can cause problems with the lacie while hooked up to the other firewire connection. unplugged the camera and viola!!! lacie works again.
    hope this helps you too!!!

  • DVDSP 4.0.3 crashes on Burn. Please Help!

I using FCP 5.0.4 and DVDSP 4.0.3. Burning discs has never been a problem (exporting from FCP via compressor to video .m2v and audio .ac3).
Now, after I've assembled my project in DVDSP (buttons, track linking etc) and I press the burn button (which I've done successfully many, many times) the program crashes.
I've tried burning with toast but found this to produce unacceptable results.
I've tried deleteing prefs, running disk utility, creating different projects etc but it still crashes on burn.
The only solution seems to be to make a disc image in DVDSP and burn it with disk utility.
Please help as this seems to make DVDSP not fit for the purpose. Is this an issue with the 10.5.6 update? Will it be fixed with 10.5.7?
Or do I have to go out a shell £3000 for a new machine and Final Studio 2?
I have some important projects that use about 60 tracks to finish so I really need a solution to this problem.
Thanks in advance for your help.

  • Mounting a .dmg image (bootable DVD)... please help

what do these instructions mean exactly??:
""Mount the dmg image and drag out the boot DVD and serial text. then burn yourself a disk. once you drag out the 2 items inside the initial joined dmg never mount that bootable DVD""
I'm trying to make a bootable DVD. how is this done?? i have the .dmg file...now what? thanks

Double click on the dmg file. A Finder window will open presenting you (in this case at least) two files. Drag the DVD file from the window to your Desktop. I assume from your description that it's an iso file or something like that. Now open your favorite burning app (or Disc Utility) and burn the image file you stored on your Desktop to a DVD.
Hope that helps you getting started.

  • Retail HD-DVD Authoring?  Please Help.

Hi, i just got a deal for an HD-DVD to be authored for retail. I cant go into specifics but its ready to go and the replicator is waiting for the disc as i type.
I need to give him the image of the disc, but am not going to give it him without testing it first, but seeing as there is no way to burn this disc to an HD-DVD burner on a Mac, nor can i be sure my timeline will even play on an HD-DVD player in the first place, how can i get my movie. its 45 minutes long, onto an HD-DVD before i get it to the replicator to garuantee that it works. The price is in the high thousands for the replication, so i cant afford to have a couple thousand coasters after it gets burnt.
Any pros offering help? Thanks alot!
oh i saw someone call the HVX200 a "Soccor Mom" camera. LOL @ them!

Was this authored in DVDSP? DVDSP is not currently ready to supply images for HD-DVD replication. It does not support the new HD-DVD burners as well.

  • Booting Off of Leopard DVD= No Backlight- PLEASE HELP

I'm running my copy of Leopard to reinstall the OS and for some reason the backlight will not come on when it boots into the DVD. I do see the screen though, its just very dark...
Other than that, the screen and backlight work as normal when I just boot into the OS already on teh computer...
    Please help. Thank you.

I never got it to work, but this is what I did:
Booted off the DVD and used a bright flashlight (LOL) and went into the firmware password utility (before reading your post above, ugh) and got rid of the pw. Then reset the PRAM and SMU, which also did not work. I just did the reinstall of the machine with a flashlight up to the screen and the computer is running fine.
I haven't tried booting into the DVD again, so I don't know if its fixed or not. VERY WEIRD- I have never had that happen before with any of the macs (a lot) that I have reinstalled...

  • Adding a new CD or DVD Burner, need some help

The Sony CD-RW drive on my G4 DigAud 533 has died, so I tried to replace it with another Sony that I took out of a PC. The Model number and manufacture dates of the two units are very close, model # on both starts with CRX. But when I tried to burn a disc with the new one I got a message "unsupported device" or words to that effect. Is this just the comps way of telling me I need to install a driver? If so, can I download the driver over the 'net?
A related problem: I would like to add a DVD burner to a G3 B+W and have an NEC model ND-1300A, also out of a PC. The only drivers I have located for it refer to Windows, no Mac references. Is it possible to get this to work in a Mac, maybe wih 3rd party software like Toast ? Is there a listing of brand names that will definitely (or won't) work in a Mac? Both comps , by the way, are running OS 10.3.9. Thanx for any info. G-47

  • DVD wont eject please help

I put a dvd into the dvd drive that i burned from TiVo. I've used other dvds burned from TiVo in this drive that have worked perfectly, but for some reason this dvd wont eject, and when i try to open the idvd application it gives me a message that says, "There was an initialization error a valid dvd drive could not be found. [-70012]" it is very frustrating and i just want to get it out of my computer because i can't use any cds or dvds. I've already tried restarting the computer while holding down the track pad button and restarting while holding down C. Does anyone have any other advice?

Monica, first welcome to the discussions,
Restart your computer, and hold down your trackpad to click continue to hold it down and it should eject, if not go to the very upper right key on your keyboard and press it, it is another method to eject.
Tell us if this works for you. Don

  • DVD BURNING QUESTION PLEASE

I have an Intel IMac with the super drive. I'm not all that familiar with burning technique but have read up a bit on it.
What I'd like to do is burn a DVDRW with data and add to that same disk as new data becomes available; in other words multiple burn sessions on the same disk.
In checking I see I can use either +DVDRW or -DVDRW. First of all is one superior to the other for my system?
Secondly, will the burn software in OSX 5 support my multiple burns on the same disk or do I need third party software for multiple burn sessions? I'd prefer not to use third party software if possible.
    Suggestions and comments are appreciated.
    Thank you
    Dudley Henriques

Toast is a fine program, it is pretty much the standard every other OS X DVD program is judged by.
I don't do enough CD/DVD burning to Justify owning it myself, especially since I already own Nero
(The Windows CD/DVD burning program). I can burn CD/DVD's in Windows running under Parallels
    Desktop with Nero.
The only real problem with using Disk Utility is that there is only partial support (in the GUI Version)
for iso joliet (PC) based CD/DVD disks. The command line version (hdiutil) has good iso support, but
burning disks from the command line is a pain, even for me, and I do a lot of stuff from the
    command line.
I do see a copy of Toast in my future, whenever Blu Ray Disks become more affordable.

  • Error code 0x8002006E when trying to burn photos to a dvd disk. Please help.

Im trying to burn photos to a DVD so my friend can view my pictures on their windows computer. There is only 371 pictures for a total of 1.72G of space. It starts to burn them, and then in the middle of the process I get an error code 0x8002006E and it stops, wasting my disk (I assume because the computer no longer recognizes it afterwards). So, I am now down by two DVD disks. What I did was, I made a folder on my desk-top and placed my photos in it from iPhoto '11. I did this because it said that's how to do it if you want your friend to be able to view them on a windows computer. Then, I closed iPhoto and right click on my folder (on my desk-top with the pics in it) and click burn.

What speed are you burning at and what brand/type of DVD disk are you using?  Are you able to burn a CD?
It could be a dirty laser in the optical drive.  Get a disk cleaning disk, one with dry brushes - no liquids and use it to clean your optical drive. Burn at the slowest speed available, 2X - 4X.  Use quality media: Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums

  • Since I installed Nero 2104 I get an error message when I try to start iTunes: registry settings changed probably due to other cd/dvd burning program please reinstall iTunes, which I've done using repair option but the problem persists...?

Since I installed Nero 2014 I get an error message when I start iTunes that registry settings for importing and burning cds/dvds have changed probably due to other burning software installed please reinstall iTunes, which I've done using 'repair' option, but the problem persists. I have been able to import cds to iTunes since I installed Nero, but it won't anymore. Does anyone recognize this problem and have a solution? Thanks for any help. Using Windows 7.

I'd start with the following document, with one modification. At step 12 after typing GEARAspiWDM press the Enter/Return key once prior to clicking OK. (Pressing Return adds a carriage return in the field and is important.)
iTunes for Windows: "Registry settings" warning when opening iTunes
If you're still getting the error message (especially when you plug in the Touch), I'd check for a device filter confusion on the PC. (They can affect the connection of USB devices to a PC, as well as burning and importing CDs.) For that one, see:
iTunes for Windows: Troubleshooting CD issues caused by device filters

  • Import DVD (not copywritted)PLEASE HELP ASAP

I do a lot of volunteering for the Children's Miracle network. I recently received a 6 minute DVD that is not copy writed in anyway. Its on a DVD-R. I want to import that DVD and transfer it over to another iDVD project and add it to a small DVD I'm making.
Once again, there is no write protection, I have all the permission needed to do this, so its not violating any terms of use.
My question is obvious, how would I do this? I need to mass burn 40 of these DVD's ASAP to give away at a fundraiser.
    Thanks for your help!

    you don't need a Ripper ( verboten ) , but a converter..
and just copying the TS folders uses the wrong disk format (=dvd not playable on standalone DVDplayers...)
DVDs are in a socalled delivery format (mpeg2), which isn't meant and made for any processing as editing...
for using the iLife apps, you have to convert'em first, in recommended order, choose one of the following tools/workarounds:
DVDxDV (free trial, 25$, Pro: 90$)
    Apple mpeg2 plugin (19$) + Streamclip (free)
    VisualHub (23.32$)
    Drop2DV (free)
    Cinematize >60$
    Mpeg2Works >25$ + Apple plug-in
Toast 6/7/8 allows converting to dv/insert dvd, hit apple-k
connect a miniDV Camcorder with analogue input to a DVD-player and transfer disk to tape/use as converter
