DVD Burning Shuts Off Computer

Hello
I'm trying to burn a DVD with just the normal burn folder. The file fits on a DVD(2.61 gb). The file is just a disk image of my Logic songs. I so far have wasted 5 DVD's trying to burn this thing.
About half way through burning the computer turns off. I have done serveral things to try and fix the problem like: getting rid of pronanction marks in the file and disc name, Turning off screensaver and sleep mode. The computer just turns off no warnings.
Please can anybody help. I have Leopard 10.5 I don't have any OS updates and can't download them as I don't have broadband.
Pleas thanks.

help please its urgent !!!

  • I keep losing my theme once I shut off computer or empty temporary files.

I like my themes but I'm frustrated that I can shut off my computer for the night or run WinUtilities and my theme is gone the next time I get on. Any help on this? Also, since we started using FireFox, my windows keep disappearing at times including the ones in the bottom system tray. I keep FireFox updated.

The current Firefox release no longer user the sessionstore.bak file, but uses backup in the sessionstore-backups folder.
You can still make backup copies of the sessionstore.js file and restore this file in the main profile folder or copy a backup from the sessionstore-backups folder to sessionstore.js to use this session.
You can look at this extension to manage sessions more easily:

  • DVD burner on windows computer

    Hello,
I have created a clip with iMovie 4 using my ibook. However, I only have the Combo drive and not the Super drive. Hence I cannot directly burn DVD from my ibook. I do have a PC desktop computer with Windows platfrom connected with a DVD burner.
    So my questions are:
    1) how do I export my iMovie file to burn on the DVD burner on the Windows PC desktop computer.
    2) can I burn my iMovie file as a VCD from my ibook's Combo drive, so that I can view the VCD on my DVD player.
Thank heaps for the help in advance.

I encounter the similar issue but in my situation I transfered all the fcp document files to my windows desktop computer over the network to free up some space on my mac, thinking I would be able to use the files later on on my mac thru the network. The files aren't shown in fcp file types but in exec, it wont open using imovie or final cut pro. Just wondering if there's a way to make it work. In another words can u use a windows computer to store fcp document files and then access it from a Mac over a network?

  • Cannot shut off computer with powerr on/off switch

    Dear friendly  Computer Geeks,
My computer is an HP desktop , product s5-1110, microprocessor Intel Pentium CPU g620 @ 2.60 GHz , Bios 7.16 , usb input device, hard drive st31000524as, windows OS 7.
The computer crashed , I could not determine the reason. I was able to save my personal files by starting the computer in Safe mode. Then I loaded the virgin OS 7 as provided by HP in the hard drive partition.
It would not start in the regular way.  I then initialized it , pressed  the escape key to enter in safe mode, select restore default values then proceed to start windows in regular mode. A problem keeps coming on. After 20 minutes of operation I cannot stop the computer with shut off command or with the Power on/off switch. I must remove the power cord and when I want to restart it I must do as described before.
I would appreciate your help in resolving this troublesome problem.
I appreciate your courtesy and cooperation . I send my Thanks and my best

  • Disconnecting ipod shuts off computer

on occasion when unplugging an ipod from my tower (after properly ejecting it and getting confirmation of having done so) my G4 shuts off! this scares the **** out of me. am i doing something wrong? never happens to me at work (also a mac). using device to transfer data, not play music. husband synched it with his windows version of itunes. my mac version is 4.7. ipod is second generation (i think), 40GB and fairly large.
thanks for whatever help/advice y'all can provide.

So it shuts down when you unplug the iPod firewire cord from the computer ... or when you leave it connected to the computer, but unplug the cord from the iPod?
Try this (after proper eject of iPod):
    1.) unpug the ipod cord from the iPod - leave cord attached to computer;
1a) - if that worked, now unplug cord from computer.
    2.) unpug the cord from the computer - leave ipod cord attached to ipod;
Which of those steps caused a shutdown?

  • MATSHITA DVD-R UJ-816 DVD burn fails if computer is doing other things too

I can burn DVDs successfully if I leave the computer alone and don't try to do anything else with it while the burn is taking place. However, if I am printing or typing or even using the Finder at the same time, then the burned disk will not verify (errors in sector such and such). This is with Toast 7 and the Superdrive. It also happens with my external Pioneer 4x burner too.
    Is this normal?

Just a note of interest. as a brody points out.
It is not a good practice to burn DVD's and use other applications at the same time.
Burning is not only very Ram Intensive, there are several other processes that are taking place as well.
It is a very good idea to burn by itself and not do any other process.
Many users that try to multi-task while burning report burner errors and overall poor preformance.
You are also using a burner that is a few years old as well and there have been updates to not only the burner, but firmware and software and media as well.
    Cheers Don

  • How to: turn dvd burn verification OFF?

I burn DVD all the time and walk away, and come back to find the disk in verification, which cause more time than I want.
How do I turn verification off?
    thanks

I have the same question and it is regarding burning
with OS X 10.4.7, where you insert blank media, click
it open, drag files to burn onto it and hit the burn
bar at the top of the window.
It will automatically start verifying after burning.
This is probably smart, but not desired from my
    standpoint.
Once it gets to the verify phase you can click the cancel button in the progress window to stop it.

  • TS4407 Is it safe to manually shut off computer if totally frozen and cannot force quit?

Woke up the up computer with Mt Lion and totally frozen . cannot even force quit. Is it safe to manually shut it off using on/off button?

Yes.  You'll have to hold down the button for about 5 seconds.
When you restart, you should either boot into recovery and try repairing the Disk, or hold down Shift key to boot into Safe Mode. That will also run checks on the disk before it boots up to the login screen (even if you have it set to auto-login to a particular user), so make sure you know you user password.
However, you could just restart from the login window and let it boot normally.

  • I am having trouble with computer freezing, spinning wheel.  The only way to get out is to manually shut off computer and reboot.

The issue usually occurs when computer goes into the screensaver mode.  When this happens, none of the keys are opperable and the round wheel/ball just continues to spin.  The only resolve is to manually shut down the computer witht the button on back of the monitor/hard drive.  Not sure if this is bad for the computer to shut down this way or not.

I starting having this "colored spinning wheel" problem too! It started about two weeks ago and like the others, every time I go into my Yahoo mail, I get the spinning-wheel and the only way out is to "X" out of the site. Sometimes I can make it through a few notes, other times the problem starts as soon as I click on the first note. I searched google a few days ago and saw a response to this problem that said I should "uncheck" the 3 items in the "Auto-fill" preferences in Safari (Safari-Preferences-Autofill) and that should help. It did not. I also went in and deleted cookies, cache and history, but that didn't work either, or if it did, it only took a few clicks to experience the problem again. One of the times I went in to delete cookies I noticed over 100 cookies and other website data stored and I had only been on perhaps 2 or 3 sites (CNN, google and yahoo and perhaps Apple), and I never click on the adds. Don't know if there's any significance to this but I thought that was an awful lot of "cookies" for just a few clicks after previously deleting cookies. Also, I believe I have the latest version of Yahoo mail. I actually have 2 Yahoo accounts and the spinning wheel is a problem with both of them, same for my wife. Any help would be very much appreciated.
I have a MacBook Pro purchased last December with Snow Leopard 10.6.8, Safari version 5.1, an Intel core i5 processor, 4 GB of memory and a 320 GB HD with very little loaded on it.

  • How to Shut off computer talking to you

Today my computer randomly started telling me everything i am doing. For example, it tells me when i pick a different window, what letters i am typing, who i am talking to, and so on. Can anyone please help me so i can turn this setting off? Thank you.

Was it creepy? I mean, when you suddenly heard a voice describing everything you were doing? That's stalker stuff right there, man.
And how do you know it was telling you everything you were doing? How do you know it wasn't telling all of your secrets to...THE GOVERNMENT???

  • Trophy Update Shuts off Computer

I am having a major issue in getting my Trophy to update to OS version 7.10.8107.79. When I connect the phone to my laptop, Zune recognizes that the phone has an update available. During the backup process, the computer abruptly powers off as if it had no battery and the plug was yanked out of the wall. This happened with the last OS update, but after a few attempts it eventually successfully updated. I did nothing to the computer or phone to make that happen. Each time it happened during the backup process. There is plenty of space on my HD available for backup. My laptop never does this any other time, and I do not have issues synching the phone or adding files. This only happens during an OS update.
Here is the relevant PC and phone information:
    LAPTOP:
    Windows 7 Ultimate SP1, 32 bit
    Dell Studio 1535 Laptop
    Intel Core 2 Duo Processor, T9300 @ 2.5 ghz
    4GB installed RAM
    PHONE:
    HTC Trophy mwp6985
    Windows Phone 7.5
    OS version 7.10.7740.16
    Firmware rev. 2305.13.20110.605
    Hardware rev. 0003
If anyone can help I'd greatly appreciate it!

        Hello bbp55,
Thank you for sharing your software concerns with the community. This is certainly an unusual situation and I can understand that you want to prevent this from happening again. Let's get this taken care of. First, I'm glad to see that the software has been successfully updated on your device. May I ask is there any physical or liquid damage on your laptop or the Trophy? Also, have you completed all of the patches and OS updates on the computer? If not then I would encourage you to do so. If the issue is persistent in future software updates for the Trophy then I would suggest reaching out to Microsoft as they created the operating system to both the phone and the computer. Their contact number is 866-724-8856.
    Thank you...

While playing Zynga games i hear a whirring sound my computer locks up and shuts down.
can u help? in simple language please as I dont understand most computer talk.
Thanks Deb (any help would be appreciated)

Thank you for providing all the information.
The sound that you hear indicates a potential hardware problem.  We may need to look at the Event Logs to see if Windows has recorded any information on what exactly is causing it.
You will need to open the Event Viewer, then find the recorded event at the time from the last emergency shutdown, then provide us with that information.

  • No dvd burn drive

Hello, I bought a season of a television show off of itunes, and I want to back it up, but my computer doesn't have a dvd burner. The show is taking up way to much space on my hard drive. My friend has a dvd burner on his computer, and I was wondering if there was any way I could transfer all of my files to his computer, back them up on dvd, but still be able to watch them on my computer.

Well you can back it up to an external harddrive or if the file size is below 700MB burn it to a data CD.

  • No burner on project computer

I don't have a DVD burner on the computer that I'm making my project on but I do have one on my computer at work.
What is the best way to get my project to work and burn it there?

    a G4 Duel with a Superdrive
I was thinking that I could 'save as disk image' and put it on an external firewire drive and take it in to work. I should then be able to make a pysical disk from the image.
Can anyone confirm this for me...
