DVD/CD region settings change problem

I have a HP notebook with a Toshiba MK 8025GAS master DVD/CD drive with the slave TSST Corp CD/DVD TS-L532M
I am having trouble changing the region settings as it states I have 1 change left but when I try to change the setting from Region 1 to Region 4, I get the responce "Unable to update region setting. Make sure the drive contains a region 4 media and you have administrative privilege".
Can you please advise me what I can do about this? Thank you.

At first I must say that notebook manufacturer is responsible for all your notebook issues and not manufacturer for each hardware component.
I have Toshiba notebook and inside is Samsung HDD. If I have problems with it I dont contact Samsung but Toshiba.
You know what I mean?
Back to your question: do you (your account) have administrative privilege?

  • Two DVD drives region settings

It seems to me, that it isn't the PLAYER that gets locked, but the DVD player software. I have an iMac with both an internal and external DVD burner. I cannot seem to set one to Region 2 and have the other on Region 1.
Now THIS seems a bit different than the theories I've seen in some of the threads here.

Paul the region settings are in fact tied to the Software, and Firmware on the DVD Optical Drive. They have nothing whatsoever to do with the Player by itself.
When you insert a DVD, the Optical drive reads the media type and at that point cripples the proccess if all 5 changes have been used.
The only work around with the Internal is to either search out a Region Free Firmware fix on Google.
    http://www.versiontracker.com/dyn/moreinfo/macosx/14738
Download VLC Player that comes with it's own software that is Region Free and make it your default Application when your insert a DVD, thus bypassing the Internal to the new player and using it's software.

  • Changing regional settings site/site collection/farm level

Went through existing articles. None exactly explains our issue.

    Our issue:
all sites in the site collection had local regional settings. index columns were in use. in order to change each site regional settings we need to first disable index colums.
suddenly the farm administrators forced a policy that set all site collection to english regional settings. what happens to sites that were forced to change regional settings.
we use infopath form based solution and there was strange change in behaviour as a result. but this is not an issue for this thread.
are index colums still ok after the forced change?
can we force back the site collection/farm regional settings back to local and all is ok?
should we disable and enable again all index colums?
how is it that site change does not allow regional settings change and farm/site collection change allows it?
    thanks in advance!

  • Region settings

I imported my data from a windows based PC to my mac. The region in system preferences automatically indicated that I am in US, despite the fact that I reside in Botswana. I have tried to change the region settings to Botswana. I am able to select the Botswana region but as soon as a exit from the region screen the region settings change back to US. How do I fix this?

welcome kosmicforces to the  boards of discussions ...
iDVD creates RC0 (=zero) disks.. aka 'region free'
DVD-player app plays all RCs.. BUT: you are allowed to switch the RC settings 5x...(=by inserting a DVD) - then, the last RC is 'burned' into your drives hardware.. no reset possible.
3rd party DVDplayer apps ignore RC, search for VLC at www.vlc.org ...
there are some 'hacks' for some drives in the darker rims of the internet ... but any fumbling of the drive's firmware makes your drive useless.. and any recommendation/linking here, is a violation of ToU of this board ..
no, I don't reply PMs to that issue.. VERY illegal in my country .. ;-)))

  • How can I change the DVD regional settings?

I have changed my regional settings more than the required times and they cannot be changed any more so l cannot watch some of the dvd's l have.how can l fix it to be multi regional dvd player?

    Hi Sam,
Once the allowed number of region changes has been reached you will need to flash the firmware in your DVD player in order to reset the region count. You can try to Google for the required update for your make/model of DVD ROM or you can check with a Toshiba Service Agent to see if they can arrange this for you.

  • Qosmio G30: Cannot chang the DVD region settings

I have a G30 and appear to have reset the dvd region using Qosmio rather than Windows MC.
When I try to reset the dvd region (back to region 2) Windows MC says there is one change remaining but then does not let me change, advising me that I have the incorrect region media in the drive (I don't)or I do not have administrator rights (I do).

Where did you check the drive region settings?
Did you check it in the drive properties or somewhere else?
In my opinion you have already used all region change attempts and the changing is no more possible.

    Hi,
The first thing to try is to choose a different Region 4 DVD and see if this works, sometimes you have to try several before finding one that works when resetting the Region Code of the CD/DVD Rom.
    Best wishes,

  • Changing regional settings gives error

    Hello,
When trying to set the regional settings I get the following error:
    The column "column name
Parent Instance" in the list or library "list name" has been marked for indexing. Please turn off all indexed columns before changing the collation of this site. You may re-index those columns after the collation of the site
    has been changed
Is there any fix for this?  I don't think it's a good idea to remove indexed system columns such as parent, child instance...How would I re-index those system columns?  We need the currency, date and time to display according to the chosen
    locale.
    Thanks,
    Martin

  • Problems with the system decimal point with german regional settings

I have a Labview 6 app that needs deploying to Germany.
My app sends strings over VISA RS232 and GPIB instruments with floating point numbers.
When changing from English to German regional settings, in Windows XP, periods are now interpreted as commas and the app starts truncating my decimal numbers. So in the English Regional Setting when I send 1.234 I get 1.234 but in the German Regional Settings when I send 1.234 I get 1.000.
I have turned off the "Use localized decimal point" in Tools - Options - Front Panel as well as set any function (Frac/Exp String to Number) that has a "Use System Decimal Point" connector to FALSE.
    Now here's my problem....
This fixed the issue I was having as long as I am in the development environment, however, once I build the application I still get the truncated numbers. Example: I send 1.234 to an instrument and it sees 1.000.
Again this works fine in the development enviroment, sending 1.234 reads 1.234 with German regional settings.
    Any help is appreciated.
    Adam

You can use a simple function of the "Scan from string" function.
Place "%.;" (Without the quotes) in the scanning string, and this will tell LV to use a decimal point for interpretation. If you place "%,;", this will tell it to use a comma.
You can place this at the beginning of your format string, and it simply tells the parser how to work, it doesn't otherwise produce an output.
Using simply "%;" sets the seperator to the system default (maybe the best idea after the code has been run as the changed decimal point character apparently remains changed otherwise). From the LV help
The following codes control the decimal separator used for numeric output. These codes do not cause any input or output to occur. They change the decimal separator for all further inputs/outputs until the next %; is found.
    %,; comma decimal separator
    %.; period decimal separator
    %; system default separator
    Hope this helps
    Shane.

  • Changing regional settings

just moved to US with my HP deskjet ink advantage 4625 all in one printer which  was acquired in Israel.
I understood that i need to change the regional settings to be able to use a 564 ink cartridges.
    how to do that ?
    tnx
    jacki

    Hi jacki,
I'm sorry to inform you, the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage 4625 do not have any compatible ink cartridges in the USA.
The 564 ink cartridges are identical to the 178 ink cartridges as available in Israel, not to the 655 which are completely different cartridges.
I afraid there are no compatible ink driver for the 4625 in the USA, as the HP Deskjet Ink Advantage Series is not available in the US market.

  • ICloud is changing regional settings in C++ Runtime

    Hello,
I'm developing an app in C++ that is using SQL sentences for storing data in a database and I've a weird problem. When I launch a MFC (Windows) file selection window, iCloud is launched and it's changing the regional settings (locale settings) in the C++ Runtime to English in non-English Windows systems.
After closing the window, iCloud is not restoring the locale settings to the machine original ones, so the execution of the programs that are using the C++ Runtime gets messed (in my case, all the points in SQL sentences are changed to colons, so you can imagine the mess)...
Will Apple launch a fixed iCloud soon?
    Thanks!

    Hi Cre8tiveNess,
You need to set the same preferences in Control Panel > Adobe PDF Printer > Printing preferences.

  • Problem BOE 3.1 Regional Settings

We have installed BOE R3.1 with the Spanish language pack, and our users have detected one problem:
If our users let the Infoview use the browser regional setting (default setting in Infoview), the default browser configuration is Spanish (traditional sort) and in Infoview the number separator is the comma (1,222,231), but if we change it to the international sort, the number separator is dot (1.222.231). The number separator has to be the dot (by default)
This happens with Internet Explorer 7, and also if we use Firefox 3 (3.0.7), and the default language is Spanish the same problem happens (comma separator). If we change it to Spanish-Spain the separator is the dot.
I mark this as a problem, because in BOE XI R2, the number separator is ALWAYS the dot (no mather if the regional setting is Spanish traditional or international in the regional settings).
    Is there any solution?
How can we change "every" user default configuration for regional settings?
    Thank you!

    Problem SOLVED.
The problem occured after the installation of the fp 1.3.
The fix pack installer has two phases, the first one where the server gets updated and the second one where the language packs get updated.
I used the Software Inventory Tool to know which version got updated, and I detected that the language pack did not get updated. It seems that our server administrators missed the second part.
We re-installed the fp 1.3 and now everything works properly.

  • Changing regional settings in CS6/Acrobat X Pro

    Hello,
I have just installed CS6 and would like to change the regional settings from USA to European A4.
The following test has been done:
Created customised A4 job options for each of: Standard Quality, High Quality, Press Quality
Then edited preference for Conversion from Microsoft Word to PDF using new job option 'Standard Quality A4'
PDF created is still in Letter sizing after rebooting machine.
Note: the original Microsoft Word file has a page setup of A4.
What is the best way to make wholesale changes across Adobe CS6 so that millimetres/A4 settings are the default ?
    Thank you.

    Hi Cre8tiveNess,
You need to set the same preferences in Control Panel > Adobe PDF Printer > Printing preferences.

  • New FireWire DVD Burner Plugged In - DVD Player Wants To Change Region?!

I have just bought an external Freecom FW/USB 2.0 DVD Burner.
As part of my testing, I inserted a DVD-R video I had made and attempted to view it via DVD Player.
However, I got a warning window saying that as this was the first time I had played a DVD I would have to set the region.
This DVD is a home-movie and as such has no region.
Needless to say, the DVD plays perfectly when using the Superdrive.
If I did set the region would it only apply to the Freecom or would it be one of the 5 changes you are able to make to the Superdrive?
Is every DVD burner allowed 5 changes of region?
I have not attempted to change the region as normally I will not be using the Freecom to play DVDs . . . . . just burning and copying.
What exactly does changing the region affect? The DVD Burner, my iMac, DVD Player or what?

    Hi Ian,
most if not all computer DVD drives allow up to 5 changes of the region code with the 5th being the last and permanent one.
The region code itself is saved inside the drive itself and each drive is 'for it's own'.

As for your home video DVD you might wanna have a look here http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/DVDregioncode#Circumvention
