DVD copy problem
I have DVD disk (made using iDVD) and I tried to duplicate it by the usual method of creating a disk image and then burning the image to a new DVD disk. The new disk won't play the DVD. It has the expected files (VOB, IFO, BUP) but the best I can do is play individual VOB files using VLP. How do I copy a playable DVD to a DVD disk so the copy will play using, say, DVDPlayer?
In regards to apple's dvd player app and using it to play an iDvd; select the Video_TS folder and not its contents if you'd like to play the entire dvd. Or you can set preferences within DVD Player to start playing any Dvd as soon as the disc is inserted into the drive that way you need not bother with navigation to the correct folder in order to start playback.

Or if you prefer you could do what I prefer and use Roxio Toast (3rd party Utility / software) to burn additional copies at 4x or slower while using Verbatim, Maxell, or Taiyo Yuden Dvd-R for best results.

I have for a couple of years been able to make excellent backup copies of commercial DVD's using MacTheRipper, DVDRemaster, and Toast, and imation 8x CDR's. For some reason, all of a sudden the backups I burn won't play very well in my DVD players (one is a Sony, the other is my wife's Hello Kitty DVD player), where previously they did. I keep up to date with software versions but I have not changed anything recently. I tried reverting to older versions of MTR, DVDRemaster, and toast, to no avail. The backups play with no problems on my mac. As do the originals on the DVD players. Just wondering if anyone has any similar experiences out there. Maybe something has changed with the imation DVD-R's ? Thanks.
G4 quicksilver Mac OS X (10.4.6)Just installed 10.4.6 and using popcorn burned VOB files on cheap DVD's, no problem. Popcorn has a Popcorn2 version out for Tiger tried to load it in but lost the code number so I am using version Popcorn 1.03 and am playing a DVD now and it works just fine. Did a rip MTR and it worked fine. Maybe something corrupted in Toast?

Fast dvd copy dosen't work with leopard
Fast dvd copy dosen't work with leopard. Does anyone have the same problem and do you have any suggestion to making it work? I have the current version 4.06 and I have written to Velor the software people, but no answer yet.

Satellite C series CD/DVD writer problem
If I try to copy Photos from my laptop to a CD it seems to go through the process then gives a message " verification failed " . Same happens with a word file. It also seems a bit hit and miss what happens when I try to start copying.
my last laptop (earlier version ) had no difficulties
its no matter what notebook you have.
Different notebooks are equipped with different optical disk drives…
In most cases the copy problems appear due to compatibility issues between the ODD and the medium.
Also there are big differences between the CD / DVD manufacturers…
So probably the same DVD-RW or other medium from another manufacturer (TDK, Verbatim???) would work properly…

I recently bought a new computer with WIN 7 64 bit. AND I've had problems for a few days to update my Windows, because it lacks a file service, BITS. When I bought my computer I have not received the installation DVD of Windows because it was preinstalled. But I still have a DVD copy of Windows.
How do I do to get one with the license number of my Windows?

I went to use 1 Click DVD Copy and there was an upgrade, so I went to the web site and downloaded the new version. After it was downloaded, I tried to use it; however, the disk to click to copy CD's was distorted and messed up my desktop. I did not have this problem the last time I did this when I was not with Firefox.

DVD Copy SW 640x480 ability to record individual chapters all at one time?
Has anyone produced some DVD copy SW (640x280) that can record individual chapters? Here's the issue, I have lots of live DVD concert content that is all burned 320x240. I burned them as individual songs. It took me three months to do it(wife almost divorced me). Now I must do it again. Problem is it can't be done one song at a time. It takes a long time to burn the individual songs from one DVD let alone a bunch of DVDs. Any suggestions?

I don't seem to find any good DVD copying programs for the Mac. I have an immense amount of personal DVD's that I need to copy for my own personal archive. There are dozens of programs for windows such as DVDFABHD and DVD SHRINK. I have tried MacTheRipper and have had no success in the DVD copying process. Are there any good programs out there for the Mac that decrypt DVD's and copy them? Thanks.
That may cause a problem. If you are ripping protected DVD, you will be in fact infringing copyright law.

im making a photo slide show using imovie. how will i make a dvd copy that can play in both pc and dvd player. i dont have an idvd anymore. m using a mbp early 2011 osx 10.8.5.
after making the photo slide show, i clicked share>export movie. after which i burned using toast. the file became a .mov. i tried playing it in my mac and it worked. my fear now is will it also play in a regular dvd?... i read from google that mov files won't run in dvd players. what format should i convert it to so it'll play in a dvd player. can you suggest a faster way i can burn my projects for it takes me almost an hour to export. im going to make 28 slideshows for my kids in school. *=( if i need to do this process 28 times, i may not be able to finish it on time. please suggest a software or an alternative as to how i should do this... m more comfortable using imovie than iphoto. thanks and i hope to hear from someone soon *=jThank you QuickTimeKirk...used toast to burn project... my project was in .mov, i tried to play it a dvd player, it did play... will try again tomorrow using another dvd player just to be sure it'll will really work with dvd players. thank you again for your reply *=)

2. by selecting text and right click
3. manually with ctrl+c

DVD drive problems : should I buy the new iMac ?
Hello, being new to these discussions, I don't know if this question was answered before.
My last iMac's DVD drive stopped working after 3 years use. And from reading the discussions, this problem seemed quite common.
But 3 years is not bad, considering the posts talking about the DVD drive not working on NEW iMacs.
Does anybody know if Apple is going to do something about this soon ? My computer is a working tool, and I cannot spend time or money on repairs all the time.

That might be a while. I bought my iMac Oct. 15 and the DVD drive is already not responding. Backing up files, I had burned 2 DVDs from the same package, Toast says this one is a CD-RW and unwritable, and makes a noise like it's trying to eject it but nothing happens. Disk utility says the DVD drive is empty and nothing shows up in the Finder. Using Terminal (drutil eject) and starting up with the mouse button held down makes the same noise as trying to eject it in Toast, with the same results - nothing.
Still trying to find the receipt to take it back & get it repaired. I sure miss the hole for the paper clip. -
