DVD Decryptor Gone

I use Videora and love it! But now I want to transfer my music video DVDs to my Ipod. Some work, most do not. I understand that DVD Decryptor was the way to go in order to get Videora to work with the more uncooperative DVDs. But it's no longer avaliable on the site as of January 1st.
Can anyone suggest what other programs are currently avaliable to solve my issue?

DVD Decrypter was developed to make a backup of your DVDs, it's as simple as that. Unfortunately, the developer was ordered to stop development via a court ruling/order or else face imprisonment. Simple as that.
I use it to backup DVDs because once you've ruined a DVD disc (however that happens) then you can't exactly go to the shop and ask for a replacement. A funny look is all you will get.
The software does put anthing nasty on your PC or constantly hit you with ads. All it does, it make a backup of your DVD... nothing more.

• Anyone used 'DVD DECRYPTOR' for ipod?

does anyone know how tho use dvd decryptor to sync video files.

Well Ive only used DVD Decrypter to extract movies from the DVDs I own...then I use Videora iPod converter to convert them to the proper format ( mp4 ) and then transfer them to the ipod using iTunes...
Heres where I learned

Watch this for only the DVD decrypter part...then get VIDEORA iPod COnverter

• DVD decryptor (is that how to spell it?) problems

so within the ultimate goal of transfering DVD's i own onto itunes i have downloaded a DVD decryptor. However, after about a half hour of "decrypting", there is an error and it is aborted. this has happened every time i've tried (about 6 times now) and was wondering if there were any solutions like if i should try a different decryptor. thanks

If you must use finalizers, there are a few guidelines you can follow that will help contain the damage. Limit the number of finalizeable objects, which will minimize the number of objects that have to incur the allocation and collection costs of finalization. Organize your classes so that finalizeable objects hold no other data, which will minimize the amount of memory tied up in finalizeable objects after they become unreachable, as there can be a long delay before they are actually reclaimed. In particular, beware when extending finalizeable classes from standard libraries.
Since the method is only decrementing a static counter, I don't think this would violate too many of the precepts above. For a given object, how much more inefficient is an additional garbage collector call?
In a real-world situation, I would use it during testing or benchmarking and then remove the method. How else could you determine the number of active intances? Granted, if the OP simply wants a constructor call count (instantiation count), you don't need finalize().

• DVD Drive gone after itunes update

I can no longer access my DVD drive. Windows Vista Home Premium. Sony DVD drive. iTunes 7.5 . If I uninstall iTunes my system can recognize my DVD drive, but when I install iTunes my dvd drive is gone from the system, can't be recognized by itunes or windows. I've tried previous version so iTunes 7 but none seem to work. Any advice?

Thanks. I followed the instructions and removed both UpperFilters and LowerFilters registry entries, rebooted and my DVD drive could then be recognized by Vista. But..... when I started iTunes I received the error:
"The registry settings used by the iTunes drivers for importing and burnging CDs and DVDs are missing. This can happen as a result of installing other CD burning software. Please reinstall iTunes."
So... since I was on a previous version I installed the latest, 7.5... and iTunes could then see the DVD drive, but when I rebooted, Vista could no longer see the DVD drive. iTunes re-installed the registry entry : UpperFilters, REGMULTISZ, GEARAspiWDM (does not put in the LowerFilters) so as it stands now, I have a registry file on my desktop that I have to run, to put back the GEARAspiWDM entry whenever I want to use iTunes, then remove it and reboot to use it in Vista - does anyone know why this is happening and how I can fix it without a workaround? Thanks.

• Import from DVD problem gone in LR 2.0 beta

One problem I have had with LR 1.3 was not being able to File>Import from disk, and select more than one file from a DVD or CD and import. It would see them as read only files. I had to open another window, and drag them into Library.
This glitch is GONE in 2.0 beta. THANKS Adobe.

It's a bug, which is already the subject of thread only a few below yours. See -

• DVD designer gone in CS3?

I used PPro CS2 quite a few times to design a simple interactive DVD menu from the templates it provided (I especially liked the red Fender guitar menu). I recently switched to PPro CS3 and can't find the DVD designer workspace. Did they remove it or is it hiding? How do I access the menu I created in the CS2 project? The CS2 templates were provided as photoshop graphics that were saved within the project file.
Any help is appreciated.
-AJ

The news is that we have to load both versions: READ: both the video collection CS2 and CS3 to get the benefits from both in my case - THAT's a couple of expensive licenses.
I am one of the users that used the PPro CS2 DVD menus for 1 click load and burn on average 3 times per week. I really miss that and am debating if it is worth keeping a video collection license just for it. UGH!
It is really rude the way Adobe keeps making stuff go away - i already owned Encore so no big whoop that PPro can open the app for me - that's not my idea of integration and the old version already understood markers between them. First they took away ImageReady, now my DVD templates from PPro, and the ability to have PPRo insert a DVD marker at every scene automatically as well as build a set of submenus. This all takes time and error prone to do by hand in Encore. I really really valued that content and can't seem to find anything to replace it in the GOODIES folder. The deeper I get into the CS3 suite the more upset I become with Adobe for charging so much and taking away features I used. Yes I know there are new features, but please! let's keep the stuff we've already grown processes around.

So everything has been working fine with my computer for years. Then all of a sudden, I pop in a DVD, it doesn't come up. I restart, nothing. Lookin the system profiler, I don't even have a DVD drive anymore apparently. Zapped the PRAM, nothing, repaired permissions, nothing.
Any ideas?

• Upgrade to Snow Leopard but DVD is gone

Hi, i am new user on mac. I have some problem but i think you all can help me. My mac is MacBook Pro 15" bought at 2009, march. then about August/September my OS was upgraded to Snow Leopard. Until yesterday, i bought new hard drive from 320gb to 500gb with clean install also updated to 10.5.8. But the problem is since my Snow Leopard was family pack and the DVD was been taken with my brother (he was on other country) so i couldnt upgrade to snow leopard. so, where can i download the snowleopard files? or is there other way to do it? thanks

Do you still have the 320 GB drive & is it undamaged? If so, an alternative to buying a new DVD or getting your brother to send the family copy back to you is to get an external enclosure for the old drive, mounting it in it, & cloning its contents back to the new 500 GB drive.
Note that this will replace the contents of the 500 GB drive so if you go this way, don't save anything to the new drive you want to keep until you clone the old one to it. There are several utilities that will make the cloning procedure simple. I use & recommend SuperDuper! but carbon Copy Cloner is also popular & well regarded.
The advantage of this approach is that you can pick up right where you left off when you were using the 320 GB drive & once its contents are cloned to the 500 GB drive it becomes a drive useable for Time Machine or whatever.
OTOH, the family pack license is valid for one household, not for one family wherever its members may be. Aside from the licensing aspects, you really should have a Snow Leopard DVD readily available anyway. It contains utilities you may need to run from it from time to time to do certain kinds of repairs.
Doing both is best & is reasonably inexpensive. External USB drive cases are just about as cheap as Snow Leopard itself.

• Compressor High Quality DVD Settings Gone!

Just "upgraded' to 4.07 and now under "Disc Burning' only H.264 for Blu-ray and now only MPEG-2 single pass (low quality) are available.
Where are the "Best Quality 90min" etc setting?
Thanks.

Yes. In the newer version, for disk burning, it's up to the user to create a custom setting and save for repeated use. So duplicate the setting and make whatever adjustments you require.
The old MPEG-2 settings were 2 pass variable bit rate, 6.2 Mbps average and 7.7 Mbps maximum. The Blu Ray setting is actually much higher quality in C4.
And there are a few things that C4 has that previous versions didn't offer, so on balance I would consider it an upgrade.
Good luck.

• Which DVD Decryptor should I use?

I am a Windows user. The one on the Vidoera site blocked me. How come? Any fixes?? Any good alternatives???

What do you mean by "blocked me"? I've seen notes of some people who have had success with Nero Recode. Check the iLounge Forums for a complete rundown on available software. Handbrake is Mac only, so that probably won't help you all that much (unless you're planning on going out and buying a Mac).

• How can I save previews for old projects, while burning the project to DVD?

I'll admit, I haven't read the user manual cover to cover (or screen to screen for the electronic version), and haven't spent hours combing the discussions here, but I have searched for all the relevant keywords I can think of and can't find a concise answer to this question.
I get the basic idea of Vaults (I think), but haven't found much info about long term storage of projects. I'm fulltime freelance, but not super busy, and I can easily generate 100,000 images each year. I don't have the cash to be keeping all of these images in Aperture projects on external hard drives for eternity, and I'd be surprised if anyone else does. Good thing I'm not a medium format digital shooter producing 50GB each day huh?
I remember seeing a clip of a photographer 2 or 3 years ago discussing the differences between storing digital and film images. He was making the point that throwing away files you don't think you'll need again can be a mistake, citing a shot he had of Clinton and Lewinsky together, before Clinton and Lewinsky were news. "If I'd been shooting digital, that image wouldn't exist today". It was a great pic, and when that whoel scandal erupted, it made him alot of money.
So at present I'm storing every image I take in finished projects on DVD trusting that in the future I'll be looking for a shot of someone I may have shot 5, 10, 15 years ago.
I caught part of a discussion that talked about keeping the preview files for all the images (and subsequent versions) for each project. I'd love to be able to keep lo-res previews/copies of everything I've shot to date, and have them immediately accessible on my hard drive, while my full size projects are safely stored on DVD, taking up space on a bookshelf rather than on my hard drive. Loading 10 DVD's worth of projects to see what's inside them is a headache I'd like to avoid if possible, in favour of instantly checking out lo-res previews to look a shot up.
Is there an easy way to burn a completed project to DVD, but keep only the (lo res, lo size) previews on my hard drive?
20" iMac and G4 Powerbook Mac OS X (10.4.8) "A creative and dynamic professional" (I lie alot and can't sit still)

hello, kiwi
quote: "Is there an easy way to burn a completed project to DVD, but keep only the (lo res, lo size) previews on my hard drive?"
yes.
maybe,...
1. you might think of making DVD backups first prior to importing the photos into Aperture. "Store Files: In their current location" once in Aperture make low rez Previews, and export finished Project.
or,
2. bring in the photographs to hard drive first prior to importing the photos into Aperture. "Store Files: In their current location" once in Aperture make low rez Previews, and export finished Project.
the low rez Previews will stay in Aperture but the high quality Versions will be exported onto DVDs and gone from the hard drive (if you delete the originals).
another way would be to export small about 50-70 pixel wide high quality jpegs to a folder on your Desktop and import & keep these in Aperture Library as a reference. make metadata to show where the original Project DVDs are stored and DVD filing system used.

• CD/DVD dropped after Hyper-V role installed

Hi,
yesterday I installed server 2012 from the scratch (quite normally from a DVD). All went OK and CD/DVD drive was present after OS restart. Today I installed Hyper-V role on same machine. After reboot DVD drive was vanished from Windows Explorer. It didn't
show in the Device manager either. I checked registry HKLM\System\CurrentControlSet\services\atapi from SRV2012 and SRV2008R2 machines just to compare them.
It appears that there is one more line (key) in the Hyper-V machine (running srv2012) registry: the"Owners" key, which is missing in the srv2008 machine not running Hyper-V. I don't have a clue what that means and if that has anything to do with
the issue.
So, my question is: Where has my dvd drive gone after Hyper-V role installation and how can I get it back?
Can anyone show me the path forward with this problem?
Jussi

Hi ,
Is there relevant event log in "hardware events" (Event Viewer -->applications and services logs -->Hardware Events) ?
Any other relevant error messege after you installed Hyper-v in the Event Viewer ,please post it here if possible.

*Update*
The lastest release of MediaCoder now includes a preset for transcoding for the Zen Vision series players. The encoding used will also work with Vision:M, making it very, very easy to get any video or audio onto your Zen. It also supports transcoding from VOB files, great for converting non-copyrighted (or copy-protected) dvd's to a file suitable for your Zen.
Also, If you are the owner of the IP (intellectual property) of a copy-protected dvd (and also of the copy-protection itself... unlikely, I know), and happen to li've outside of the United States of America, but flew into America just so you could visit the American Creative Forum; as soon as you get back to where you li've (assuming that they don't have a law equivalent to the US's DMCA), then you could go to doom9.net and get a free dvd decryptor, and then convert the resulting VOB files with MediaCoder, hypothetically speaking, of course.
Again, do not do the above unless you are absolutely sure that it is not punishable by law in the region in which you li've. Creative Labs nor I will be held responsible for any laws that might have be broken by you while using these instructions.
(I've got a feeling this isn't going to stay li've for very long...)
*Update*
The following piece of free/open source software streamlines the difficult task of transferring a DVD to your Creative portable device:Gordian Knot Rip Pack
Note that these tools should be used for non-commercial dvds only: dvds that are your own intellectual property (or IP, for short), or that you have explicit permission from the IP owner to rip. Any other use is prohibited by law.
But, if for some reason, you accidentely were to encrypt a family dvd that you produced solely on your own and wanted to later rip it for use on your zen product, then you could always "break" the protection by downloading thi... just kidding, I just thought I would see how many comments I got from the mods about that!
For other essential resources (including full-scale tutorials) related to dvd ripping, go to www.doom9.org.
Also, for the few audio/video encodings that Creative's own mediasource software fails to transcode, you can use this great (free and open-sourced) application, called Media Coder. This is my favorite application for converting between media formats.
If it is a video (or audio for that matter) stream (.asf) from the internet that you wish to rip, than the following application will do the job with its easy-to-use wizard: VLC PLAYER. (This program is also free and open-sourced) Once you download and install the binaries for your platform of choice, just click file-wizard, then 'transcode/save to file', 'next', 'select a stream', 'choose', enter the location of the stream in the 'open' textbox, and the rest from that point is easy...
Lastly, the following tools will allow you extreme flexibility in editing audio and/or video, both of which free and open-sourced as are all other tools listed on this post:
Audacity, The Free, Cross-Platform Sound Editor

Virtual Dub

Virtual Dub Mod

Nan Dub

And as mentioned earlier in this post, these tools are for people with the knowledge, but don't want to pay for proprietary software. If you want to learn how to rip a DVD, then you will need to visit www.doom9.org and read up on your tutorials.
Good Luck, and if you need any help, post your questions as a reply to this post. Thanks,advs89

hmm... I don't like your choice of the word "yet". Besides, I think you are enjoying your moderator pri'veleges a little too much. (Oh, and this whole, smileywink thing is beginning to get a little scary, I think I am going to stop using these stupid emoticons - or since we are being so extrordinarily copyright-friendly on this forum, i'll say smileys...) Ooh, I'm overusing my ellipsis. (probably misusing them too)
<STRIKE>anyways, back on topic, I'll make sure to limit my discussion of the circumvention of dvd encryption to the fact that you can in fact, if you are a criminal, make use of a certain piece of software to be found on the popular (and not shut down) DVD transcoding enthusiast web page, doom9.org.</STRIKE>
Now that that's taken care of, i'll get back to my overuse (and probably misuse) of ellipsis and smileywinks...
