DVD Drawer Buzzes Very Loudly When Disk is Being Played...

New T Sat L755-S5170...when a DVD or CD or program disk is inserted into drive drawer, and 'played', the drive drawer buzzes and vibrates very loudly. There is noticeable vibration on drawer edge, when I lightly hold the drawer, which slightly reduces the vibration and noise, but noise & vibration are still present...Not pleased. Any ideas or tips, short of returning this new laptop? Thank you, motordavid

Thanks, but I am quite familiar with how DVD drawers/drives sound, over the past 30 yrs of laptops and desktops... this one was remarkably noisy: almost like any given CD or DVD or program disk was spinning eccentrically. I took it back in to where I had bought it; the 'genius tech guys' at Staples told me it was 'normal', lol! I brought it back home, and took the disk drawer out completely and reinstalled it carefully: no more loud noise, though it still plays disks more nosily than any I have ever had. The replacement option is fine, if one wants to turn in their new/not yet a year old computer, which of course is loaded with one's own personal photos, docs, etc. Not fun, even if fully backed up to a device or, the cloud. They are making these things flimsier and crummier by the day, imo, regardless of brand. GL, mD

    Hi,
Here's one option you could try as it will give a good indication whether the problem is with Windows or a Hardware issue with the optical drive itself.
    Create a bootable Ubuntu CD
The Ubuntu CD you create should run as you boot the notebook ( ie outside of Windows operating system ), so if this will not run, the problem is almost certainly a Hardware issue with the DVD drive
On another PC, follow the procedure on the link below to create a bootable Ubuntu CD and follow the steps in Part 3 to 'Try it' to see if this OS will run from the CD.  The 'try it' option does not need to install on the Hard Drive, it just runs from the CD.
    http://www.ubuntu.com/desktop/get-ubuntu/download
Let me know if this will run.

  • Mac mini fan is very loud when watching a dvd

    Hi,
Just bought a Mac mini (2GBRam 2GHz intel) and when watching a dvd the fan spins very loud which gets very annoying! Is this normal for watching dvd's on the Mini as I have a Macbook with similar specs and there is not much sound from that when watching dvd's. I installed 10.5.1 on the Mini and the Macbook still has 10.4.11...Any ideas?

The reset is always worth trying, just in case the problem is in the system controller. However, I'm not sure that I'd blame MacOS itself for the problem, because it does not appear to be similarly reported elsewhere. As such, I'd say that if you can't resolve this with a reset, you may find the next best option is an erase and install of Leopard, followed by downloading and installing the 10.5.1 update from http://www.apple.com/downloads/macosx/apple/macosx_updates/macosx1051update.html
Of course, since an erase and install wipes the hard drive, it is essential you back up your data before you do this!

  • MSI GX700 Speaker Buzz (Very Loud!)

I'm getting a very loud speaker buzz in the Left speaker on my brand new GX700. (seriously, I've had it less than a week)
It goes away sometimes then comes back if I move it so it seems like it's a loose component.
I've found it also goes away about 90% of the time when I turn my laptop upside down! Which would confirm it is a loose component.
Is there any way I can fix this? As I ordered it from California and I live in Ireland so it would cost a lot and take a long time to send it back to get it repaired.
    Thanks!

  • W520 - Slight Buzzing Noise, Louder when Scrolling

    Hello,
    I have a W520 (4270CTO model I believe), i7 2760QM, Quadro 1000M, which arrived around a week and a few days ago.
I am encountering a slight issue, in which there is a slight buzz with the machine on, and it gets a little louder when I am scrolling. It occurs both with AC plugged in, and AC unplugged (running off battery), but I think it is louder on battery than when plugged in.
Searching around I found this thread: http://forums.lenovo.com/t5/W-Series-ThinkPad-Laptops/W520-Fainth-low-tone-beeps/td-p/554213/page/2
    Which has the following post:
I am having this issue also. For my case, it is the AC port (yellow) that causes the whine, it is near to your CPU / GPU. The low tone beep could be the current buzzing through it. It is even louder when you are moving up and down the scroll bar. Maybe a board replacement or the AC port replacement could resolve your problems. You could contact and suggest it to Lenovo Support.
This seems like it is exactly my case. Having said that I have a few questions (I am in Canada, an Individual)
    1. Is this an "issue"? Will the problem get any worse?
    2. This is my first purchase with Lenovo, how would I service this product under my warranty?
    3. Can I do it locally? I know there are "service" places, do I just find a place that is listed on Lenovos Service Provider list, tell them the issue and they'll fix it? Does it cost anything?
Basically, I would like to know if the issue is truly an issue, and if so, how I would go ahead and service it.
    Thanks,
    Sam

    Hi all
From what I know, it's either the system board (AC port) or voltage regulator (Intel CPU Chip) is buzzing.
If it's AC Port, you can just hear it when you place your ears near AC port. You could probably get a system board replaced. Sometimes when a power adapter is connected, you could even hear power adapter buzzing.
If it's Intel CPU chip, probably there's not much you could do. It is affected since the 1st gen of Intel Core i processors and known as manufacturing defect. Therefore, it is considered normal (throughout different OEM). If it buzzes too loud, a workaround is to disable CPU Power Management, drawback is having shorter battery life. Maybe you could try and see whether any thermal compound leak out of it's contact?
    Cheers

  • Why can I not turn the volume very loud when using headphones?

When I play music back the volume is not very loud, I have put the volume to the high setting but not very loud. Can any one help?-

Hi, I have some questions in tha case before we can decide whats wrong
    1) Is it happening with particular song? - if yes then its an issue with song
    2) is it with all songs( check head phones with other player or so it might be faulty)
    3) Is there any volume limit (lock) set on your ipod
if head phones are fine and if it happens with all songs and if same songs play with good sound on computer you might need to restore your ipod and reupdate the songs may be an issue with ipod but if all songs play with similar kind of sound on computer your ipod should be ok as it might be the sound quality of those songs

  • Logic POPPING very loudly when starting playback

When using Logic 8.0.1 with 10.5.1 and while having say, the channel EQ on a track with a drastic EQ setting (boost) and starting playback I get loud POPS as the audio engine starts. Leads me to believe this is tied to the system overload messages. I just don't think Logic is processing all required data in time and therefore sorta POPS on. Very annoying and this happens with any EQ set with an extreme setting, say a telephone effect with a large boost. Tried every possible audio setting to see if this would fix and it does not. This happens even using the internal core audio driver and listening through headphones plugged into my Mac Pro. I have ruled out the audio interface itself, so what is it? Logic or Leopard?????? Please Lord let 10.5.2 fix all the issues people are having with system overload and pops and clicks. Amen.......

When using Logic 8.0.1 with 10.5.1 and while having say, the channel EQ on a track with a drastic EQ setting (boost) and starting playback I get loud POPS as the audio engine starts.
There used to be an old bug in Logic's Fat EQ (I think it was that one) that would cause a huge power spike if the setting was extreme. May be a problem with the plugin's dsp code.

  • IPhone dropped in water... Everything works very well when I tried to play a song the speaker had a modified sound of the song... What should I do to take the water out of it ? Please help

Speaker problem with the iPhone 5S

The device should be powered off immediately and placed in a sealed bag of uncooked rice for a period of at least 7 days. After that time, you can check to see if it will work. Since you have already noticed a problem, and have left the device powered on, you may have increased the problem and the migration of water into the circuits. As Peter said, it isn't if the phone will fail, it is when. Be ready to purchase an out of warranty replacement if you did not purchase Apple Care Plus. User damage is not covered under warranty.

  • Static crackling noise, Right speaker when audio is being played

I recently purchased this Satellite C50D-A Windows 8 Laptop. I have had it for less than 3 months. Recently the right speaker has started acting up with some sort of high pitched static crackling noise whenever audio is played regardless of it being in a web browser or any other media. Even computer sounds are distorted from this. I typically use this computer for school and play music to study. How the hell can I fix this so I can actually listen to audio without this rather irritating issue?

I tried that and it didnt seem to do much of anything.
I played part of a song on spotify and recorded it to perhaps give you an example of what it sounds like?
I covered the left speaker so most of what you hear is the right speaker alone. The distortion is pretty clear when audio comes out of that speaker.

  • X very sluggish during disk activity...

    Hi,
Recently, X has become very sluggish when disk activity is taking place. It doesn't seem to matter if it's a read or write operation. The pointer freezes and judders across the screen and everything basically stops until the disk access is finished. Usually this is only a problem with large data transfers, but if i'm backing up files or compressing archives it's really annoying! Transfers to USB disks have the same effect.
Does anyone have any idea as to why this may be happening?
    Thanks
       Dan

I have had mixed results with hdparm - in particular enabling dma seems to help but I have an hdparm line in my rc.local and if I try to enable dma there I get a system lock-up on boot when the command is executed.
Not a memory issue - It's not the most recent laptop but has 1gb of RAM. I've been using ARCH since 2004 and this problem seems to be recent (in the past six months or so) but I can't seem to find any cause for it.
Does anyone know of any changes to the Kernel? I'm using anticipatory scheduling at the moment but have also used CFQ and the results when it comes to disk access slow-down are about the same.

  • Macbook Air mid 2014 air-ventilator is very loud

    Hi guys,
my Macbook Air's ventilator is running very loudly when I am playing intensive-graphic games. For example when I am playing Tomb Raider. Can my Macbook Air handle it or should I leave the game out ?
Thank you for responding. I appreciate it
    Jake

If it doesn't normally run loudly, then it's doing so because of the heat created when playing certain games. It's best to not play those games or, if you must, then don't play for too long in order to reduce the heat produced. The fan will run loudly in order to remove the heat. You could also try using external ventilation and be sure to place the computer on a hard surface and elevate the rear about 1" to allow better air circulation.
I would also suggest installing iStat Menus 4.21 and keeping an eye on temps and fan speed.

  • ITunes 7 and very loud buzz during music playback

I upgraded to iTunes 7 and now when I play music on my iMac G4 I occasionally get a very loud buzz breaking into the music. It seems totally unpredictable and it sounds like a very loud, annoying alarm. I think it only appears in the left-hand speaker, but not sure. It never happened with previous versions of iTunes and I haven't added any additional software since upgrading iTunes and Quicktime. It's such a jarring sound that I'm almost too scared to play music through iTunes now because the buzz creates a real shock to the nerves when it happens. Any ideas? I haven't adjusted any preference defaults in iTunes or Quicktime since downloading the upgrades.

Same issue here with iPhone 6 iOS 8.1.3 and now with iOS 8.2.  New Pioneer DEH6700BS.  Took back to shop and had new deck replaced - SAME ISSUE. Mine is around 7:30 minute and same drop out right after that as you are seeing.  I have tested with iPod Touch and my son's iPhone 5C and I don't get this issue despite multiple testing scenarios.  Looks like the common denominator is the iPhone 6.

    Hi,
Shut down the notebook.  Tap away at f10 as you start the notebook to enter the bios menu.  Under the Advanced or Diagnostic tab you should find the facility to run tests on both the Hard Drive and Memory.  Post back with the details of any error messages.
If both the above tests pass, try the following.
From the Start Menu, open All Programs, open Accessories, right click the Command Prompt and select 'Run as Administrator'.  In to the prompt type the following command and hit enter.
sfc /scannow                 ( note that there is a space between sfc and the / )
Let the process complete, then type exit and hit enter.
Next, click the Start Menu, click Computer, left click Local Disc C once to highlight it, right click Local Disc C and select Properties.  Click the Tools tab and then click the button to 'Check the Drive for Errors'.  In the following window make sure both boxes are ticked and then click Start.  Part of this process will require a restart to check the drive.
