DVD Drive Module on Pismo sticks out of expansion bay. Any way to fix?

I just picked up a Pismo the other day and found a DVD drive for it on ebay, which works perfectly, but the drive sticks out of the expansion bay a little unless I put some pressure on the bottom or the top of the computer. Of course, when I release pressure, the drive pops out a little again. Should i be worried about this at all, or is it just cosmetic? Is this a common problem? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks.

soul,
It sounds like the little plastic tab on the release mechanism inside the frame is worn and is not holding the drive as far in the bay as it should, or the recess on the optical drive may be worn. If you remove the optical drive, you will see a small rectangular recess on the edge of the drive that engages a small tab on the lever. Look into the empty bay with a flashlight and you will see the tab and how the mechanism works.
Here is a picture of the recess (top picture) on the drive:

You cannot replace the levers, if necessary, without considerable disassembly of the 'book. Possibly you can improvise a thin spacer for the recess on the drive.

on eBay, for my Lombard, because it said G3 and I could see it wasn't the one for a Wallstreet. But it doesn't fit. When I emailed the seller, he said he got these and was told they would fit a Powerbook G3 so that's what he listed.
On the back it says 4x dvd-rom drive. On the side with the yellow sticker it says manufactured: December 1999 and model number among other things.
    Does anybody recognize it?

From what I understand, the Wallstreet is indeed fatter (I have a couple) but the drive modules for the Lombard and Pismo are interchangeable, a drive for the Lombard will fit a Pismo, a battery for the Pismo is also for the Lombard, etc. The Wallstreet's DVD drive module is just rectangular, the one for the Lombard/Pismo has an irregular polygon shape, which is why from the picture, I concluded that must be the one I could use on a Lombard.
**Sure those weren't named after Carole Lombard and the Pismo clam?**:)

The iTunes Store has no phone support and never has. Contacting them has always been via web form. Go here:

and follow the instructions to report the issue to the iTunes Store.

    Sure.
If your hard drive is still physically working, simply restore it from your computer's backup.

My iPhone 6 wont come on when home button is pressed and screen pixels out and fades.  Any one have fix or same problem?
When I press the home page the screen activates but stays black.  I have to press the side button to turn if off then may have to repeat several times to get my phone to come on.  Sometimes while using the phone the screen will become pixelly and start to fade away leaving a white screen with vertical line on it.  I have to use the close button to make it go away.

If one of the two major buttons of your phone is broken, it is unfair to expect normal operation to be available. The first resolution to any problem involves a usable Home button, as does the second option for resolving any problem.  Get your Home button fixed.

The only thing that needs fixing is your memory. The passcode lock is working exactly as designed.
Remember your passcode and you'll be able to get in.

  • Dvd drive making noises and spitting out dvd

I don't know what's going on but whenever I put in a dvd the dvd drive makes a lot of noise which doesn't sound good, and sometimes it spits out the dvd or shuts the dvd program down and then my computer freezes on a black screen and i have to shut down my computer by turning it off. =(
This computer is about 8 months old and I don't think there should be any issues from my end. I have never dropped it or spilled anything on it. I unfortunatley never bought teh apple care....i know dumb! but nonetheless it's not bought. Does anyone know how or what i can do to resolve this issue besides not playing a dvd? Thanks any advice helps!

It sounds as if there's a mechanical failure with your SuperDrive. Since you're still under warranty, I would take the machine into an Apple Store or an AASP and have them diagnose and fix the problem.
    Good luck,
    Clinton

  • DVD drive not recognized, then all out crash. HELP!

I was watching a DVD, and then I got an email notification which caused the DVD player to freak out and freeze. I restarted the computer to find out that the DVD drive was no longer recognized. Restarted a couple more times...no luck. Now's I've got a DVD stuck in there. So I open up the computer to make sure all the wires are connected. I push the power button AND NOTHINGG! The little power light goes on for about 5 seconds, then turns off. All I hear is a small 'click'. I tried a couple methods to fix it, and only succeeded in getting the DVD drive to spin, but no power in the computer itself. And now it's back to light/'click'/nothing. Am I beyond help here? Do I need a new computer? I'm so stressed out!
Oh and if it comes down to needing a new mac, what would everyone suggest I get besides a mini. I am thinking of a macbook pro, but the price is way high for my funds right now. I also like the imac, but my concern on that is whether or not you can upgrade it after the fact.

I took my mac in to the store to find out the logic board crashed on me. Way too expensive to fix since it's about the same cost as the mini itself. I'm just going to buy a new macbook. (I realize I'm spending more than it would to get a new logicbaord, but I want a new laptop!)

  • Where can i buy a new cd/dvd drive? i ripped mine out of the computer and snapped it in half

    i have a toshiba sattelite X205 SLi-1
my wonderfull magical pile of crap computer decided that the cd/dvd drive hated me, so it started making aweful noises at me and refused to either burn cds correctly or play entire dvds. i finally got pissed enough at the computer that i popped the disk drive open, and proceeded to rip it out of the computer.'
now i don't have a cd/dvd drive, and i'm wondering where i can purchase a new one. i didn't see any for sale on toshibas web site, if there's anyone that can point me in the right direction i would much appreciate it.
that is, if i don't get pissed and use this stupid computer for target practice for my hatchet.
i love it when technology loves me back
    thanks [seriously ]

The only way is to connect the iPod to a computer with has an internet connection and iTunes and restore the iPod. Use as friiend's computer or make an appointment at ther Geniuds Bar of an Apple store.

  • I reinstalled windows on my computer, wiped out everything is there any way to retrieve my library or at least my purchases, I reinstalled windows on my computer, wiped out everything is there any way to retrieve my library or at least my purchases

I reinstalled windows  and wiped out everything. Is there any way to retrieve my library or at least my purchases??

It has always been very basic to always maintain a backup copy of your computer.
Certainly you did not reinstall you os without making sure your backup copy was up to date.
Just use your backup copy to put everything back.
If for some reason you failed to backup ( not good), then you can transfer itunes purchases from an ipod:  File>transfer Purchases.
If you are in the U.S, then you can use the newly released Beta version of icloud to retrieve them.  open itunes store, click Purchased under Quick Links.
ALWAYS maintaining a backup is very important.

  • I have created an iMovie on my iPad and am running Windows Vista on my laptop. I want to make a DVD but do not have iMovie on my laptop to make an iDVD. I have tried to drag the file to the DVD drive in many diff. versions. All has failed.Any suggestions?

    I need help!

To make a video DVD you will need authoring software.
You cannot just burn the Quicktime to a DVD and play it in a DVD player.
There are lots of authoring programs, some free.
    Try googling DVD authoring software.
BTW iDVD is a program, not a format of video or disk.
iDVD is only available on Macs, so you will not be able to use it on your windows PC.
