DVD Formatting Troubles

Can anyone please tell me how to format a DVD+RW to Mac OS Extended Journaled...or if it's even possible? I have a Windows 7 .iso burned on there as per Boot Camp instructions, but then the assistant tells me that it cannot partition the disc because it isn't Extended Journaled. It tells me to use Disk Utility, so I go there, but all I can do is erase the disc; theres a big blank grey area where other people seem to be able to find a format drop-down list. Current versions of everything I am trying to use:
-Macbook Pro 13" Late 2011
-OS X Lion 10.7.5
-Disk Utility 12.1.1
-Windows 7 Professional 64-bit (burned onto a 4.7 GB DVD+RW as an .iso; THIS IS THE DISC THAT NEEDS REFORMATTING)
-Windows Support Drivers (also burned onto a DVD, same specs as above; could possibly need to be reformatted as well I guess, but I doubt it)
-Boot Camp Assistant 4.0.4
-Boot Camp 5

I think you are mis-reading some of those error messages.
One does not generally reformat a DVD disC to any other formats.
but one OFTEN has to reformat the Boot disK before it can be installed upon.

  • DVD display trouble

On my new MacBoork Pro, when reading video MPEG2 DVD in 16/9 format the display is not stable, about each second some display areas are shifted 10 or 20 pixels top or down.
On Imac G4 with same OS X 10.4.5 version the same video DVD is displaying with any trouble.
This default occurs for video DVD format close to the sreen full size, 16/9 scope format or 4/3 format are fully ok.
Is it a reported default on MacBook Pro ?

You can build the DVD on your hard drive (just the VIDEO_TS folder or as a DVD image) and try there before burning.
If you still don't see the menu running the DVD from the hard drive itself the problem is not related at burning at all and I guess there something you are missing during the authoring.

  • CD/DVD drive does not read all DVD formats and regions

    Hi
My Teac-dw-224e-a does not read all DVDs formats and regions.
It does read CDs but no DVDs at all.
Not DVD-R and not even regular DVDs. I have checked the region of the DVD.
I have reinstalled the driver and also tried with different software.
    What can I do?
    Please help!

    Hi
It is possible that your DVD drive has wrong region settings.
In this case it is not able to watch all possible DVD movies from different regions.
Of course you can change the settings 4 times. But after this changing the settings are fixed and its not possible to change it anymore.

  • I need to know the best, safest way to convert video for Mac.  I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.

I just had home movies converted to a DVD format a realize now that I need another step to burn them to my computer.  This is for a Christmas present!  Help.

I don't think you need to use a ripper program to read a home movie DVD. Those are primarily for copy-protected commercial DVDs, right?
I think you just need to transcode the DVD files using a utility like Handbrake, which is free and fast.

  • DVD Format

What type of DVD format is recommended for recording a project from Final Cut Express? DVD-R or DVD+R?

Ask this on the iDVD or the DVD Studio Pro forum. It has nothing to do with FCE. You'll find more experience DVD creators on those forums.

  • Convert Flash to dvd format

    Hello.
Does any body know how to convert a flash movie into dvd-format?
Is there a program that can do it?
    Thank you

    Hi,
Once the .swf file's on the DVD, does it still have to be played on a computer?
Also, I've been trying to get my video clip to loop so there's no need to keep hitting play, as it's going to be used for display purposes... how's this done??
    Thanks a bunch!!

  • Convert swf to dvd format

what is the most efficient way to convert swf to dvd
format? are there more than one way? I'm trying to avoid
    degradation

I think they mean to convert flash content into a type of
file to use for dvd authoring/burning. "Efficient" is a relative
term when it comes to what you want to do. The best answer
sometimes depends on what is actually in your flash file. If it's
all vector, you have less to worry about when it comes to
generation loss. There are several "swf 2 avi" converters out
there. Flash itself lets you export to avi, but the quality has
never been good. I use GeoVid's Flash to Video Encoder
    http://www.geovid.com/Flash_to_Video_Encoder_PRO/
    and Flashants SWF2Video
    http://www.flashants.com/root/index.shtml
Each performs relatively well. From that, you can use the exported
video and place into whatever dvd burning application you
    have.

  • Cd and Dvd formats on imac 24

Silly question probably, but with all the cd and dvd formats available, which should we use?DVD-r, Dvd+r... and Cd-r? I was under the impression that the DVD-r and CD-r were the most reliable if we're going to use them on the computer and our home/car units. True? Also, when can the DVD-DL be used? Do they play on home units or only computer? Thanks for your insight.

I'm not entirely sure what's going on here. My x86 ISO's worked fine. However, I do suspect something got hatched when Sun rolled in the ZFS code (or something else). On my Blade 100, the SPARC ISO (disk 1) panic's part-way through the boot. I have burned three ISO's successfully, and they all panic. This is the same batch of blank CD's I've used for a number of releases, including the aforementioned x86 disks. So, while whatever the new code is may work on my x86, I'm suspecting it is hanging on your system, and the SPARC compile is panic'ing on my Blade 100.
We're probably going to have to wait a while, as Sun shuts down for the July 4 week. :-(
So much for upgrading my Blade 100 this weekend.

  • Exporting to a mpeg file, or a DVD format ??? questions around this:)

    Hi friends
May I ask a silly question?
I wonder, when i have finished editing the movie, audio, effects, and all of that. When I am VERY satisfied with the result ( do you know the feeling )
OK, everything is on my timeline, and I press Ctrl + M. I choose MPEG2, and I get a file that I put on my desktop. From my desktop I burn it with Windows DVD Maker, choosing to make a dvd in this program.
Here is my question: Do I have to use another then PRpro for making an DVD formated DVD disk?
Is it the same to burn a DVD file on a plate, then burn a DVD formated plate?
And then, why cant prememiere do this?
I use the Que in media encoder, but that does not make any different...
Help me to understand this, please.
    Best regards from Norway
    Stig

Thanks for getting back to me so fast, and knowing exactly what I ask for .
So what I have learned is:  Windows DVD maker is a program that does the same thing as encore, but of course a smaller program.I have made menues in encore, but I did not know that it also made proper DVD files. Is it easyer from DVDmaker (if no chapter)? (it took me about 6-7 hours burning in W DVDmaker for 1 hours movie)
One more thing, please. I also try to burn from PRpro using the "Match the sequens setting" button. ( I use an AVCHD 1080i setting, square pixel, Frame size: 1920 x 1080) Is this compatible with DVD burning?
Is it right to choose this setting when burning? The reason I choose "Match the sequens setting", is because I get a larger file (twice as big), then in MPEG mode. I am then thinking... bigger file, better picture quality on TV. (?)
When I sit here now, I try to make dynemic link to encore. It is ok, but Encore tells me that the Transcode settings are 720X 480 (in new project window in startup encore). This is not an HD setting, and is not an 1920 x 1080 like I have in premiere Pro.
Hope you will help me again.
    Best regards
    Stig

  • Software in CD or DVD format

I would like to get this software in CD or DVD format.

This is impossible. ExportPDF is not software you install on your computer at all.
Rather, ExportPDF is a service on Adobe's web site. When you use ExportPDF, it sends your PDF to Adobe, they do the work, and they send it back to you. This works as long as you have a subscription.
However, Acrobat Pro includes features to export (Save as) different formats, and this is very different. It runs entirely on your computer, and can come on CD.

  • Severe pixellation PAL DVD format, Premier Elements 11

Hi I am facing severe pixellation problem on a moving object, when rendered in Elements 11. The source was Sony mini DV captured as AVI through Premier and then rendered as PAL DVD output. Strangely, this shows up when the disc is played on DVD player. Same problem when the MPEG file is played through windows media player or VLC player. Strangely if the clip is imported into Premier 11 then the pixellation disappears. Pls help. The video is uploaded at the following URL:
http://www.sandakphu.com/video/Traintest1.mpg and can be downloaded from following URL http://www.sandakphu.com/video. Pls look at the yellow vertical hendles on the moving train.

    Dear Steve
Thanks for taking time to respond. Actually the pixellation is coming on the DVD being played thru TV as well. In some cases the picture is very choppy and severe. I repeated the capture using Windows Movimaker - and created a DVDin third party software, no problem there. Secondly, I converted the AVI file into MPEG HD 720 P and then created a DVD using a third party software - no issue tere either. The pixellation and choppy video is showing up specifically when I am writing into PAL DVD format from premier 11. I suspect there is a interlace setting somewhere that I am missing...

  • Drive in my Macbook Pro is not picking up dvd format.

The drive in my 17'-inch 2010 Macbook Pro is not picking up dvd format. If i put a game software or program disk it will pick this up and play... yet, if i insert a dvd or the disks that came with computer to restore to factory settings it will not... would anyone have any clue why and how i could fix this...Thanks

it sounds like your drive may be failing. You should set up an appointment with a Genius at an Apple store. They should be able to test it for you, let you know if the drive is failing.

  • Problem exporting to mpeg-2 DVD format from Premiere Pro CSF

I just purchased Premiere Pro CS5 and have been going through the video tutorials on Lynda.com.  I have created a short video sequence and am trying to export it to mpeg-2 DVD format using the default "MainConcept MPEG Video" codec.  After the video is exported to my hard drive and imported into Encore, I see all of these green lines and green shading in the video I just created in Premiere that wasn't there when I rendered my sequence in Premiere prior to export.  Does anyone know why these green lines and shading are added to the video?  I figure I must be using the wrong export settings in Premiere Pro.
I've also tried to export this video segment to Quicktime .mov format using the default DV25 NTSC codec, but when I do this the final exported video has audio only and the video is black (I made sure there was a check in the Export Video check box).
I have a Macbook with 2.2 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 4 GB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM and Max OS X version 10.6.3 (Snow Leopard) with all appropriate updates.  Does anyone have any ideas on how to address this issue or where I can read up on appropriate combinations of video formats and codecs?

Hi, thanks for the answer.  Yes, I just tried importing the Premiere project directly into Encore using the dynamic link function and it worked just fine.  Once I made some changes to the to the Premiere project; however, the green lines appeared when i would preview the project in Encore.  Based on your feedback, I won't worry about the extra green lines though and will attempt to build another DVD.  Like you said, I think the key is to import the Premiere project into Encore using the dynamic linking.

  • How to convert dvd format to HD AVI

How do I convert DVD format to HD AVI or HD MP4 from either iMovie or iDVD applications, please help, thank you

You need to convert them to mp4 or m4v. Handbrake is good for this. Mpegstreamclip and Format Factory(pc only) also work. they are all freeware. I'd recommend the handbrake since it also has presets for ipods and i think the ipad, and it has a queue feature....meaning if your dvd has several clips on it you can set it up to do all of them without starting each one individually.
