DVD freeze when play back on  dvd player

Hello,
I create a DVD with DVD SP 3.01, When I play back the dvd in 3 brand of dvd player it freeze after 12 min of playback for about 2 sec and after continue to play to go to an other freeze about 10 to 12 min after. It does that in dvd with 25 min and more. If I do a small dvd of 10 min I see no freeze. I ckeck the MPEG2 file made by FCP and there is no freeze inside of it. I also put the QT directly in DVD sp ( encode it before burn ) and I have the same problem. Any idea...
thanks

It may be the brand of disc. Try Verbatim DVD-R or Verbatim DVD+R DL.

  • Help! DVD is pixelating when played back on household player

Help please! This is driving me mad...
I searched the archives but couldn't find the answer, and if I don't finish this wedding video by Monday my mate is gonna litterally string me up!
I've cut the project in Final Cut Pro HD 4.5 - exported as a quicktime file and I'm rying to burn it onto DVD using a Lacie external DVD +/- rw double layer drive. I've been trying to do this using toast 6 lite.
The finished product will play back fine on my iBook, and my mate's powerbook, but when I try and play it back through the telly on a normal DVD player it keeps pixelating - almost like a pulse.
Any ideas? Will save a friendship....
I've been using bog standard sony DVDs, and burnt them at 16x. I'm going to give it a bash at 1x as I've heard this might help - but there seem to be two options in toast - 1x and 1xDVD.
    Thanks, Paula.

    Paula:
You didn't post any information about how you authored/burned your DVD, but this is a general basic workflow:
    - From your sequence timeline in FCP select Export > Using Compressot
    - In Compressor select the DVD: High quality 90 min preset (or the preset that match your sequence lenght!) and use the MPEG2 preset for your video and the AC3 for your audio.
    - Select a destination where to locate your finale files.
    - When completed, import thos .m2v and .ac3 files into DVDSP and create a track with them
    - You can build your menus or just select that track as First Play and burn your disc.
    - You can check this tutorial about Creating Disc Image in DVDSP (from www.kenstone.net site). It's a good procedure for safe burning.
    Hope that helps!

  • DVD freeze when play

    Hi everybody
I was just informed that one of the DVD I made "freeze" and "jump" images when playing reaches about half.
On my decks it runs fine.
I prepared the DVD as I used to. They did not change their player.
I just changed the brand of DVD.
Could that be a reason ?
If not what could I check ?
If yes why is it so ?
    Thanks in advance
    Bernard

Thanks a lot David for this prompt answer
#3 Ask your client to try the DVD in another player
and see if the same problem at the same places
    repeats itself.
I already did. I am awaiting their reply.
#4 Check to make sure the bit rate settings you made
for both the audio and video aren't too high. Use
AC3 (Dolby) audio whenever possible. Some players
have been known to choke on the data rate required by
    AIF audio.
what would you consider as "too high" when you don't know which player is going ot be used .
    I used target 4.5-max 7.5, 2passes MPEG2
#5 It could be something as simple as their DVD
    Player needing a lens cleaning.
OK I will tell them but they have no trouble with other commercial DVDs
#6 Always test DVDs on multiple brands of players
before releasing them to your client.
This is what I did and I had no problem

  • DVD won't play back in bluray player

I just created a DVD in DVD SP, about 5 mins long with audio. It plays back beautifully on the computer, but my sony bluray player doesn't recognize it at all. I haven't tried on a standard DVD player, but I don't see how that would help. A previously made DVD plays fine on the player. Any thoughts?
    Thanks

    Dear Shawn,
Still no good. In a render last night, weirdly, even in my Mac the disk was unreadable and the warning said it was blank, but I rendered again and it works fine on the Mac. But on my SONY player, nothing.
I changed DVD SP to standard in the Preferences and re-created the project from scratch. I used the DVD: Best Quality 90 minutes setting with no changes. Here is the breakdown:
    Name: MPEG-2 6.2Mbps 2-pass
Description: Fits up to 90 minutes of video with Dolby Digital audio at 192 Kbps or 60 minutes with AIFF audio on a DVD-5
    File Extension: m2v
Estimated size: 2.79 GB/hour of source
    Type: MPEG-2 video elementary stream
              Usage:SD DVD
    Video Encoder
              Format: M2V
              Width and Height: Automatic
              Pixel aspect ratio: Default
              Crop: None
              Padding: None
              Frame rate: (100% of source)
              Frame Controls: Automatically selected: Off
              Start timecode from source
              Aspect ratio: Automatic
                        Selected 16:9
              Field dominance: Automatic
              Average bit rate: 6.2 (Mbps)
              2 Pass VBR enabled
                        Maximum bit rate: 7.7 (Mbps)
              High quality
              Best motion estimation
Closed GOP Size: 1/2 second, Structure: IBBP
              DVD Studio Pro meta-data enabled
I am at my wits' end. I have two weeks to get this done for a memorial for my late father so you see my desperation.
Do you have any possibilities left? I'd go ahead and sign up for the Pro classes at the Apple Store, but in NYC I'm afraid I wouldn't even get to see anyone in time for FCP and its suite.
    Thank you for any advice.

  • DVD sticking when played in some DVD player

I burned a 1:20 min.DVD (twice) using different brand names; Phillips 8x and LG 8x, each time it plays it jerks & sticks. I usually use Verbatim 8x as I see recommended and get good results but lately I have not been able to get Verbatim in 8x where I live here in Jamaica. I am thinking of ordering down some DVD-R from the USA.
    (1) I see where the DVD-R Taiyo Yuden are highly recommended but they only come as slow as 8x. Do you think they will work with with my burner? Or should I order the Verbatim that comes in 4x?
    (2) Would Compressor help with this plaguing problem?
    Editing in FCE 3.5
I am authoring in DVD SP 4
The burner is PIONEER DVD-RW DVR-104.
HELP!! I have some very important work outstanding
    Awaiting your knowledgeable advice.
    Trevor.

Just to give you a tip.
Many of the newer 16X Media works and works very well.
The tip is this. Look at the packaging that the DVD's come in.
They will clearly state that the DVD's will read and write in the newer and the older Optical Drives.
    1X,2X,4X,8X,16X.
    I personally use 16X DVD-R Maxell
I also prefer to purchase those in 5 pack that inlude the individual Jewel Cases, as they have shown to be of a higher quality then the larger 30-50 and 100 dvd spools.

  • Exported avi's flicker between 4:3 and 16:9 when played back in media player etc.

Using premiere pro 1.5 on a windows XP..... never had issues until recently.. always shoot with xl-2 in 24p... when the AVI is exported (microsoft dv avi ntsc, or sometimes 24p advanced) and I watch it in windows media player the video flickers back and forth between widescreen and standard... seems random....sometimes the exported videos will play ok... any ideas what's up?  thanks!

    hmmmm
when the AVI is exported (microsoft dv avi ntsc, or sometimes 24p  advanced) and I watch it in windows media player the video flickers back  and forth between widescreen and standard... seems random....sometimes  the exported videos will play ok..
dv avi ntsc is 720x480 and it sounds like you have mixed assets in your project...when that flickering happens.  720x480, whether it is 4:3 or 16:9 does not have square pixels..so if some of your assets are based on square pixels you'll get some weird stuff going on ( if your program monitor is set to "fit" it will look OK on timeline maybe, but on export wont ? )...maybe try program monitor at 100% instead and see what stuff looks like before you export...fix the mixed media stuff ?  You using still images ? is that what flickers diff size ?
...need more info re: assets in project, export settings
ps. you might try ms avi ( not ms dv avi ) and adjust settings as per your project and try that export instead ( choose same renderer you use in project or lagarith or some lossless codec )

  • Help, my newly burnt dvd disk when played through tv dvd reads, no audio no image

please can anyone help me , i've been trying to use my project library with movie that I would like to burn to disc but each time i get info to burn folder and then play disc through my dvd player, message comes up ( no audio no image on disc) i have used so many discs now it's getting silly

Well, for anyone with a similar problem, I solved this by opening my dvd project and changing the menu theme for the menu that was giving me problems. I then burned the disc image again and burned a dvd disc from the disc image. The new disc plays everything on the tv. But, as an aside, while my dvd player and my G4 could read the new disc, my G3 can't read it!
I continue to use the same brand of discs that gave me a problem before, and have sucessfully burned copies at both 1x and 2x speed, the two burn speeds available on my G4 using Disk Utility.

  • Can't switch buttons when playing on a dvd player

I searched the discussions and was unable to find an answer to my problem.
How do you get the dvd to select different buttons when played on a dvd player? When I play the dvd on a computer the buttons are highlighted when the mouse is placed on them, but when I play the dvd on a dvd player, I can't get it to navigate through the different buttons on the menus. I can only select the first button on the page. I'm sure this is a simple fix, but I can't seem to figure it out. Any help would be greatly appreciated.
    Thanks,

Choose the button and go into the advanced tab in the inspector. You can then set the Up, Down, Left and Right function for your dvd buttons. DVD SP will set it up automatically if you like BUT if you have a more complex menu you can set your button navigation manually. Manually gives you a little more control and creativity. When you simulate in DVD SP the buttons will highlight as if on a computer if you use your mouse. If you were to use the button keys (up down arrows) in the simulator you would notice they don't work either. Set you button navigation in the advanced tab in the button inspector...

  • Dvd studio pro: plays back sound witout image

I just burned a small project following all prescribed settings for compressing and mastering (these have worked in the past), the dvd will playback fine on my computer but when played back on home dvd system only the audio is present.
thanks for any help that can be passed along.

It seems to me that this comes under the "weird stuff is happening" with writable DVD media section. DVD+R and DVD-R are not the most reliable things in the world, especially with older players and strange things can happen. Here's what I would do:
First, confirm that your video cables are connected to the television from the DVD player (HDMI, DVI, Component, SVHS, RCA, etc.)
Second, what type of disc are these? Who is the manufacturer? Some are more reliable than others.
Third, try it out on a few different DVD players and a few computers.
Fourth, if you find that it works on most players, but not one, try changing the brand of disc. DON'T USE MEMOREX!!! Stick with Taiyo Yuden and Verbatim for the best results. Then try writing it at a slower speed.
Hope this helps. Let me know.

  • I've been using a flip video camera since 2009 and all of my videos are in the flipshare library.  What is the best way to burn all these videos to a DVD that will play on my DVD player/tv?

I've been using a flip video camera since 2009 and all of my videos are in the flipshare library.  What is the best way to burn all these videos to a DVD that will play on my DVD player/tv?  The flipshare library is taking up too much space on my Macbook and I wanted to delete these videos once they were all tranferred to DVDs.
    Any help is greatly appreciated.

I do backup with iCloud.  I can't wait until the new iMac is available so that I can once again have my files in more than 1 location without needing to rely solely on the cloud.
I also rely on iTunes and my MacBook and Time Machine as well as backing up to iCloud. I know many users know have gone totally PC free, but I chose to use iCloud merely as my third backup.
I assume that the restore would result in my ability to open Pages and Numbers and fix the problem with deleting apps, but this would also mean that if my Numbers documents still exist solely within the app and are just not on iCloud for some reason that they would be gone forever.  Is that right?
In a word, yes. In a little more detail.... When you restore from an iCloud backup, you must erase the device and start all over again. There is no other way to access the backup in iCloud without erasing the device. Consequently, you are starting all over again. Therefore, it would also be my assumption that Pages and Numbers will work again and that the deleting apps issues would be fixed as well.
If the documents are not in the backup, and you do not have a backup elsewhere, the documents could be gone forever.

  • How do I separate short movie clips loaded from my digital camera to iPhoto 11 at the same time pics are downloaded and how do I get those video clips to a dvd that will play on a dvd player

When loading pics to iphoto 11 from my camera, occassionaly it will include some video clips with the description of Movxxxx. I wonder if someone could direct me to some straight forward instructions as to how to transfer these video (movie) clips, which now exist in iphoto, to a dvd that will play on a dvd player as one might  expect to see a video play, including the audio that was captured at the time of filming.
Thanks in advance for any assistance you can offer this novice.

You need to open iMovie and it will have a event library called iPhoto Videos, click on that and the videos will load in the window next to it, then you make a new project in iMovie.  Then open iDVD and make a new project then import the movies to the program then burn to a DVD..

  • How to make a DVD that will play on a DVD player if I don't have iDVD

How do I make a DVD that will play on a DVD player if I don't have iDVD?

First you will need a video DVD authoring applicaiton like iDVD.  If you have iDVD export the slideshow out of iPhoto as a QT movie file via the Export button in the lower toolbar.  For iPhoto 9.4.3 and earlier select Size = Medium or Large. For iPhoto 9.5 and later selct 480p.
Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the exported QT movie file into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailer like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Software or eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.
Why iLife 09 instead of 11?
If you have to purchase an iLife disc in order to obtain the iDVD application remember that the iLife 11 disc only provides  themes from iDVD 5-7.  The Software Update no longer installs the earlier themes when starting from the iLIfe 11 disk nor do any of the iDVD 7 updaters available from the Apple Downloads website contain them.
Currently the only sure fire way to get all themes is to start with the iLife 09 disc:
This shows the iDVD contents in the iLife 09 disc via Pacifist:
You then can upgrade from iDVD 7.0.3 to iDVD 7.1.2 via the updaters at the Apple Downloads webpage.

  • DVD does not play back on all computers and DVD players after burning

I have built and formatted a dvd using dsp but it will not playback on laptops even though it works fine on dvd players macs, and pcs. On some laptops there is no sound others just crash. Is this a problem with the laptops or how i have formatted the dvd?

    suggestion 1
If you are trying to playback on a PC laptop running windows:
Do not use Windows Media Player to play back the DVD, it wont work, it is not a DVD player.
Use the software supplied with the DVD drive such as Win DVD or Power DVD.
    suggestion 2
The disc format is incompatible with the DVD drive:
If the disc you created is a DVD-R and you play on a DVD+R drive, or a DVD+R disc played in a DVD-R drive then the disc will not play.
    suggestion 3
the drive is a CD drive not a DVD drive

  • Need help getting ipod/phone videos onto a DVD that will play in my dvd player

I have so many videos on my old ipod and my two iphones. I need to get them onto a DVD that will play in my dvd player because they are all the videos I have of my kids when they were babies(bad I know!) So I bought iLife and have iDVD and a macbook pro laptop. Would anyone be willing to write step by step what i need to do to get them onto a DVD as I am very new to all the technology these days. Thank you so much in advance

First you need to get them onto your Mac.  Use image capture and download them to a folder on the Desktop.  Next, you need a video DVD authoring program.  IMO iDVD is the best.
If iDVD was not preinstalled on your Mac you'll have to obtain it by purchasing a copy of the iLife 09 disk from a 3rd party retailier like Amazon.com: ilife 09: Softwareor eBay.com.  Why, because iDVD (and iWeb) was discontinued by Apple over a year ago.

Open iDVD, select a theme and drag the download movie files into the open iDVD window being careful to avoid any drop zones.  Some themes will only allow 6 items per menu, including sub menus, others up to 10 I believe.  Sub menus can always be added to add more movies to the project. This is an example of a project with multiple slideshows/movies and menus:
IMPORTANT:  iDVD is not concerned with the size of the media files in regards to what the iDVD disk can hold.  All that's important is the total playing time of all of the movie files including the menus.  A single layer DVD disc can hold up to 120 minutes of playing time.  A double layered disk 240 minutes.  IMO it's best to go with multiple single layered disks.
Follow this workflow to help assure the best qualty video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.

Is there a way to burn an imovie I made to a dvd that will play in my dvd player connected to my tv?

Yes but this has nothing to do with iTunes.
Open the file in iMovie and select menu Share > iDVD.
