DVD from photos

I am putting together a DVD for our swim team and parents. I would like to copy protect this DVD so that multiple copies of the DVD or printing high quality photos is either difficult or not possible....
Can anyone help.....just want a simple disc of photos that people can view...

You can't do what you want. If the pictures are only for viewing only burn small versions of them, like 640 x 480 pixels. And you could put a watermark on them like this or similar with a 3rd party watermarking application (or an image editor). You can find watermarking apps at VersionTracker.com by searching there for "watermark".
Why now create an iDVD slideshow of the photos so they can be viewed on a TV set. The best resolution photo that can be obtained from that is 640 pixels x 480 pixels and that would be from a screenshot of the DVD while playing on a computer.
Using an iDVD project you can add music to the slideshow, comments to selected photos, etc. Just select the album in iPhoto and use the Share->Send to iDVD menu option. When in iDVD select your theme, transition to use between slides, add music as desired, etc. When you're ready to create the disk use File->Save as Disk Image. This has two advantages: 1 - you can play the disk image on your computer with DVD Player to check the project before committing to disk; 2 - multiple copies can be burned (use the slowest speed available) with breaks in between burns without having to go thru the encoding process (usually the longest part of the process) all over.
TIP: For insurance against the iPhoto database corruption that many users have experienced I recommend making a backup copy of the Library6.iPhoto (iPhoto.Library for iPhoto 5 and earlier versions) database file and keep it current. If problems crop up where iPhoto suddenly can't see any photos or thinks there are no photos in the library, replacing the working Library6.iPhoto file with the backup will often get the library back. By keeping it current I mean backup after each import and/or any serious editing or work on books, slideshows, calendars, cards, etc. That insures that if a problem pops up and you do need to replace the database file, you'll retain all those efforts. It doesn't take long to make the backup and it's good insurance.
I've created an Automator workflow application (requires Tiger or later), iPhoto dB File Backup, that will copy the selected Library6.iPhoto file from your iPhoto Library folder to the Pictures folder, replacing any previous version of it. There are versions that are compatible with iPhoto 5, 6, 7 and 8 libraries and Tiger and Leopard. Just put the application in the Dock and click on it whenever you want to backup the dB file. iPhoto does not have to be closed to run the application, just idle. You can download it at Toad's Cellar. Be sure to read the Read Me pdf file.
NOTE: iPhoto 8's new option in it's rebuild library window, "Rebuild the iPhoto Library Database from automatic backup" may make this tip obsolete. We'll know when users have occasion to use it and see if that's the case.

Can you make excellent quality DVD's from photos using Premiere Elements 10 using a Mac?"

You should not have any issues.
If you are using only Still Images, here are the tips:
Set up your Project as either NTSC, or PAL DVD, in either Widescreen 16:9, or Standard 4:3. For most current still cameras, the Widescreen 16:9 would be the more likely candidate, but also consider the TV's, that your viewers will likely have. If there are a ton of older, 4:3 CRT TV's in that mix, then consider them.
Scale all of your Still Images to about the Frame Size of your Project, so ~ 720 x 480 for NTSC. See this ARTICLE.
    Import those into the Project.
Drag those to the Timeline, and edit, as required.
    Add any Scene Selection Markers.
When edited, go to Create Menus, and choose either a Wide, or Standard (depends on which you chose) Menu Set, then adjust, as is required.
    When authored, Burn to Disc.
Remember, your Still Images are probably much higher resolution, than DVD, so do not expect HD quality material. However, if you/your viewers have an up-rezzing DVD, or BD player, properly hooked up, the resultant DVD will look spectacular.
    Good luck,

  • Make CD/DVD from photos

Using this program can I take my pictures from vacations and put them on CD's or DVD's and show them on my TV using a DVD player?

I´ve tried to back up from iPhoto to DVD, several times. I followed:
Create a CD or DVD by exporting
In iPhoto, select the photos, albums, or video clips you want to burn to a disc.
    Choose File > Export.
In the Export Photos window, click File Export, and then select your options. For best results, choose JPEG, Maximum, and Full Size. For more information, see Export a photo.
When you’re ready, click Export, and export the photos to a folder on your computer.
When the export is finished, quit iPhoto.
Click the Finder icon in the Dock, and then insert a CD-RW disc or a blank CD-R or DVD-R disc into your drive.
Drag the folder that contains your exported photos to the disc’s icon.
When the files have been copied, choose File > Burn Disc, and then click Burn.
The disc can´t be burned because an unexpected error occurred (error code 0x8002006E)
    Am I missing something?
    Thank you in advance.

  • Making a dvd from Photo Shop Essential.

I want to put my slide show onto a dvd to run in a dvd player so that we can watch it on a tv monitor. Does Adobe Essential do this or is it confined within the program?

If you only have Photoshop Elements, no, it can't burn a DVD unless you also have Premiere Elements. However, if you have a dvd burner, you have some kind of software to do this, even if it's only windows dvd maker/windows movie maker. So you can output your slideshow as a WMV file and then open that file in your other software to create the disc.

Do you want a data DVD with image files, or a video slideshow?
To create a data DVD, select the photos in Photos and use File > Export. Save them to a folder on your Desktop (or any folder you like) and use  "File > Burn to Disk" to create your DVD.
To create a video slideshow, you will need authoring software like iDVD, Burn, or Toast.  MacOS X does not support to burn video DVDs. see this User Tip:  How to create a video-DVD? (Macs without iDVD): Apple Support Communities
In Photos you can create a video file, however.
To render a slideshow as a video, select your photos in Photos, then use the command "File > Create Slideshow"
Set the settings for the slideshow as you want them, Theme, music, etc.
The press the Export button in the toolbar to render the slideshow as a video.
Burn the video to a disk as described in How to create a video-DVD? (Macs without iDVD): Apple Support Communities

  • How do I burn a CD or DVD w/photos from iPhoto

Lost my photos and spent over 2 hours w/Apple Support getting them back into my iPhoto --- but, now I want to burn them on a CD or DVD to have them as back-up (I was walked through the process w/support, but after that and many other things done -- there were no photos on the CD afterall) My Macbook is OS 10.4. I think since there are so many (1900+) I would need a DVD. I have some which say DVD-RW...Video/photos data/4X2hr. Is this what I need? Specific instructions would be nice. The Apple Support person sent me a link -- but it was for 10.5 -- DUH.

    HI Grandie,
First, I'm glad Apple was able to locate your photos on the drive and get them right back into iPhoto where they belong!
Second... does your MacBook have a SuperDrive? It must have one in order to burn to a DVD. To locate this information click the Apple logo top left in your Desktop, then click About This Mac, then click More Info. That will open your System Profiler. When that window opens, go to the Menu at the top and click: View/Full Profile. On the left side it will say: Contents. Look under that category and find where it says: Disk Burning and click that once.
The information for your disk burning capabilities will be listed on the right. It will give you the information. I'm sure you have CD burning, but make sure you have DVD. It will say: DVD-R
** I can't burn a CD or DVD ** <-- from the iPhoto Help Menu
To create CDs with iPhoto, you must have a supported CD-RW (CD Recordable, Read-Write) drive. All Apple internal CD-RW drives work with iPhoto. Use Apple System Profiler to check if your optical drive has CD-burning capability or to see if a connected external CD/DVD drive is supported.
To create DVDs with iPhoto, you must have a supported DVD-R.
You can use CD-R or CD-RW discs to create CDs. CD-R discs must be blank to burn pictures onto them. You cannot reuse or erase a CD-R disc that already has files on it. If a CD-RW disc is not blank, you must erase it before you can put other files on it. Search Mac Help in the Finder's Help menu for information on erasing CD-RW discs.
If your computer or monitor goes to sleep while burning a CD or DVD, you might encounter problems with the disc or with iPhoto. To keep your system from going to sleep, increase the sleep timing settings in the Energy Saver pane of System Preferences. Search for "saving energy" in Mac Help for information about changing these settings.
If your burn is unsuccessful and your external drive becomes unresponsive, turn its power off and on to reset the drive.
    * Media that seems to be the best compatible is Maxell, Fuji, and Sony *
I'm wondering if you are trying to burn too many images at one time. Create a new burn playlist in iPhoto, drag about 20 images to that playlist from the Library. Then go to the Menu and click:
    Share/Burn Disk.
I believe CD media can handle up to 700MB of space. Say each of your images is approximately 3MB... times 20 images = 60MB... it can add up FAST. Try one and see if it works... if not,
post back and we'll keep troubleshooting...
One more thing... never touch the disks with your fingers. Hold the disks on the edge only. Look for fingerprints. If there are any, wipe them off with a clean lint free cloth from the inside of the disk out.. not in circles.

Have used large format, but using the 'burn' software, I am not getting seamless video quality on DVD even though I am burning at 2* speed. Any ideas? Do I need better software? Or is there a problem with the SuperDrive?

When you export the videos out of iPhoto be sure to select Kind = Original.  Otherwise you'll just get an image file of the first frame of the video.

Why are the photos I copied onto a DVD from iPhoto not viewable on a Windows PC?

Because you did it wrong? It's hard to know unless you tell us what you did.
    What should work:
Select the photos you want to share
File -> Export and export them to a folder on the desktop. Burn that to the disk with the Finder.

Why when I make a dvd from an album are my photos not in order?

    hansm99079164 a écrit:

Simply because your Explorer/Finder only takes into account the file names and dates of your files.
For instance, in Windows, you have to tell the explorer to sort by 'date taken' otherwise the default sort orders are file dates or file names.
If you have given a 'custom' sort order to your albums, the only way for the Explorer to sort in the same way is to set the custom sort order in the album, export to a new folder with the 'rename' option - same starting text string plus order.

The general answer is to select the photo(s) in iPhoto and export to a desktop folder (file menu ==> export). In the finder right click on that folder and burn to disk

  • Create a dvd from scan photos on iMac

Is it possible to create a movie on (DVD) from scan photos? And will it be compatible to play on a PC?

How do you burn DVDs of photos in iPhoto?

    Depends.
Want to just back up/share the photos? Export them to a Folder on the desktop and then burn that with the Finder. Result: A DIsk with a folder(s) of images.
Want to back up the Library - all the images, versions, database file and so on? Share -> Burn. Remember a disk created in this way will not make any sense execpt to iPhoto.
Want to burn to a DVD that you can view on a domestic DVD player? Make a slideshow. Export that. Then use  a DVD authouring programme to create that disk. iDVD is no longer developed by Apple. You may be able to get it on an old iLIfe install disk. There are other options:
    Burn: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/21992/burn
    Toast: http://macupdate.com/app/mac/6351/toast-titanium
But there are lots of others too. Search on the App Store or MacUpdate
