DVD from previously prepared files - fails

I am trying to make a DVD of a project that I did in Sony Vegas Pro on my PC. I have made hundreds of DVD's on the PC by opening Nero and burning the AUDIO_TS and VIDEO_TS files to the DVD.
I have a week old MBP and am a Mac Newbie.
When I do this with XP to my Sony DVD burner, it usually takes about 15 minutes a disk for a 115 min project.
On the MBP, it took almost 2 hours to burn and over an hour to verify.
What is up with this? Surely I am doing something drastically wrong?
Why is it taking so long? The OS reported that the disk was burnable at 8x, should have taken 15 minutes like my PC does.
Please help!
Thanks,
Kirk

Hi Srikishan,
I have done as you asked.
In the new kernel files directory the disp+work.exe -version gives me 154.
I then copy & paste the kernel files into \usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\run. I then run dispwork.exe -version on the dispwork.exe in \usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\run, and once again I get version 154.
When I restart the services and SAP in MMC, I get a funny message at first when looking at the process list. It says: sapcpe.exe    Executable copy.
When I run dispwork.exe -version now on the dispwork.exe in \usr\sap\SID\SYS\exe\run I get the old kernel version, 80.
How can this be, and do you have any idea about what I have to do?
Should I restart the server after I have updated the kernel files, but before I start SAP, or can this cause problems?
Regards,
Thomas

  • Creating an installation DVD from CS4 download files

Greetings! Has anyone managed to create a functional installation DVD(s) from the downloaded files of CS4 Design Premium. After extracting the files, which folders have to go on which DVD? I have both WIN and MAC and would like to install these from DVD.
    Thanks.
    Cheers!
    Brad

Thanks for all the replies!! Gosh.<br /><br />Robert: Adobe support apparently told "cosmicone37" that "you can't create an installation DVD from the downloadable files. The only way to have a DVD installable version of any of the suites is to go through Adobe Support and get the DVDs through them."<br />As stated by me, this is simply not true. Read below.<br /><br />Mike: The images I see kicking around on torrent sites have been made from a trial download. That is certain. They say so explicitly.<br /><br />Try69: Thanks for the input. Yes, storing them on a DVD at least frees up the HDD space. But they are of no use unless copied back to the HDD each time one wishes to alter the installation etc. So I don't consider this a solution to the question Brad raised.<br /><br />Brad... et all...<br />Here is the answer. These instructions are for the master suite.<br /><br />1) In your DVD-DL burner software set up a new project. <br /><br />2) Call the disc ADBEMST4<br /><br />3) Using the free 7-Zip program (google for it) extract the contents of the ADBESTAMCS4_LS1.7z file you have downloaded.<br /><br />4) You need to edit the setup.xml file which is in the \Adobe CS4\Payloads folder<br /><br />Make it like this:<br /><br /><?xml version="1.0" encoding="UTF-8"?><Setup version="2.0.138.0"><br />     <Driver folder="AdobeMasterCollection4-mul-trial"/><br />     <Media><br />          <Volume><br />               <Name>ADBEMST4</Name><br />               <Payloads><br /><Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR"></Payload><br /> ... snip (see note) ....<br /><Payload folder="AdobeMasterCollection4-mul-trial"></Payload><br /></Payloads><br /></Volume><br /></Media><br /></Setup><br /><br />NOTE: I have removed all but one of the payload lines because there are too many to post here. But on every payload line you are changing from:<br /><Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR">Adobe CS4</Payload><br /><br />to<br /><br /><Payload folder="Acrobatcom-fr_FR"></Payload> <br />(as an example taken from the first payload line)<br /><br />Do that to every line. You are simply removing the "Adobe CS4" text.<br />Or download the edited xml from here: (only valid for 10 downloads as I am not a rapidshare user)<br /><br />http://rapidshare.com/files/160301059/Setup.xml.html<br /><br />5) Back to your DVD project. In the root of the disc you are creating, place all the files and folders in the \Adobe CS4 folder you ended up with after the extraction. Don't copy the \Adobe CS4 folder itself, just everything in it. So you'll end up with something looking like this: http://img293.imageshack.us/img293/8144/step5rh4.png   (image not from me, just one I found whilst researching this)<br /><br />If you want the extra files to be included (as found in STAMCS4_Cont_LS1.exe) then extract these with 7-Zip also. Copy the resulting files to your disc project. If you don't need the additional languages, then don't add them to the project. You may already be going over the limit for DVD-DL... so check on that.<br /><br />5) In your project put the new/edited setup.xml into the \Payloads folder. Remove the setup.xml already dragged into the project first, or overwrite it when you drag in the new one.<br /><br />6) Burn<br /><br />7) Install<br /><br />8) Enjoy<br /><br />If you have any questions let me know. If I've made typo's in the above and it doesn't make sense, let me know.<br /><br />All the best..<br />Jonathan

  • How to Create a DVD from a .mov File?

I have a .mov file of a concert and I want to make a DVD out of it. Ideally, I'd like to have full menu options just like a normal DVD. From the main menu, I'd like to have two choices: 1) being able to watch the full length concert, and 2) being able to select individual songs (much like a scene selection on a regular DVD). The .mov file is in really great quality (the concert was filmed in HD) so I'd also like to keep as much quality as possible. How can I separate my .mov file into separate chapters so I can place each individual song into the menu choices? Thanks for any help!

NOt sure what you mean by "first play." I've done the tutorials on iDVD, but still can't figure it out. Is it possible to delete a movie that in the right box, i.e., previously selected? For some reason it says i've exceeded the size of the DVD even though it's only 1.8 GB. So i want to delete it and compress what i have, but i can't get rid of what's there. I suppose i could just delete the whole iDVD file and start again, or change the file name of the movie on the HD, but that seems very unMac-like.
There's nothing in the iDVD help either on "project validation" errors or how to correct other errors. But right now a simple way to delete a movie would be helpful.
    Thanks

  • DVD from multiple flash files shows "loading" across 8/600 swf files

I got tossed into the middle of editing  a training dvd that is composed of several swf files.  I've made minor edits to content (spelling, grammer, etc), when I re-burn the dvd there are 8 files that display "loading" in blue upon opening (all files do this throughout the dvd) but with these particular files it never goes away.  It remains on the screen and visible underneath or behind the text.  Nearly 2 months ago, a round of edits was necessary and these same 8 files behaved normally.  Three of the eight files were not edited in either round, were fine on the last burn, and are now displaying the "loading" constantly. Would anyone have any suggestions to fix this?

The DVD is throwing a bit of a twist into it. I'm assuming you mean data DVD first off and this is all executable projector based content?
The best thing you can do to start is play the content in the Flash IDE so the debugger has a chance to show you any errors. Load the project and then run the debugger (CTRL/CMD + SHIFT + ENTER) and let us know if you see any errors show up. Chances are you're hitting a snag and it's no longer running code properly.

  • Imported dvd into premiere pro 2014 as a linked file with audio and video but audio from previous editing file is playing with video

I am editing in premiere pro 2014 on a windows 8.1 system with 12 mega byes of ram.  I imported a dvd into premiere from a .f4v that was
    burned using freemakevideo converter.
I imported the DVD into premiere and the audio that is playing is from an previous project I edited with the program, as oppose
to, the audio that is linked with the video imported.
Do you know why this is?  I cleaned my media cache and I rebooted my machine.
    Please help

Without knowing the specs of your videos it is hard to say. I'm also running a Mac and am having no such issues.
My first thought is that you have something from a 3rd party installed that is causing conflicts. If all else fails try transcoding your mp4 files to a frame based codec using the Adobe Media Encoder. Pick one of the Apple production codecs or Jpeg compressed QuickTime.
Are you running a ram preview? Did you render your Premiere timeline? Are you new to AE?

  • Imovie09 Burning to DVD from HD project file

I have just burnt a HD edited imovie project file to a DVD using the 'large settings' in IDVD after exporting to media browser. The results when played on a DVD player are extremely low quality. There appears to be a considerable patterning affect on the pictures. The same poor quality is apparent when playing the DVD on the macbook. Playing the AVCHD project in Imovie is fine. Can anyone help with this, or experienced the same problem? I have just upgraded to Snow leopard, and have produced DVDs before using Leopard and Imovie with the same settings. Thanks

So you must downrez at some point in the workflow. Some users have problems and/or think they get better quality out of direct PR/AME exports than using DL for this purpose.
I would test the workflow by creating three short test sequences - one with a clip from one camera, a second from the other, and a third with both in a sequence using the same settings you are using in your edit. I would use the "drag a clip" to the new item method for making each of the first two sequences. By short I mean 30 seconds to 2 minutes with a mixture of still and action.
Export using whatever method you pick of those recommended, but use CBR 8 instead of VBR etc. Bring the resulting files into Encore. Yes, look at the files exported on the computer, and look at Encore preview, etc, but also burn to a disk and watch on multiple TVs. There are lots of issues in best quality.

  • Dynamic Link (Adobe Premiere Pro to Encore) issues with burning a DVD from the project file

    Hello,
I am running Adobe Suite CS 5.1 on my Mac:
    2.8 GHz Quad Core
    6GB Memory
I've been having issues with a few projects; using Dynamic Link, directly from my project in Premier, to send them to Encore:
When attempting to burn a DVD, Encore will 'hang up' and not burn; I rarely burn to DVD, usually I'm always encoding for web, and just always use the 'default settings' in Encore.
    A few things to note:
*In my project I'm using MOV files, from a Canon 7D, and MP4 files, from a Sony EX-1.
*I am working off of 3 separate hard drives; very large projects with over 5TBs of media files.
*I noticed that after inserting a DVD, it caused one of my hard drives to eject; this happened once, as far as I know.
*This only happens when I use Dynamic Link to send to Encore, via my Premiere Pro project file.
*My Project settings are always: XDCam HD-1080p/24p
    Please help.
    Thanks

  • Title from previous Numbers file printing on new Numbers file

I have a Numbers 3.2 file that was originally created by duplicating another Numbers file in a previous version of Numbers. When I print this newer file, the title of the other file prints above each table in the file, though this title does not show above each table while I’m working on it, and I can’t find a way to get access to the title. Adding a “Table Name” does not change this situation.
Any ideas how I can get access to this title? Thanks!
And why can’t I upload images to illustrate the problem? I’ve tried both jpg and pdf - the “insert image” button remains grayed out after I select the file to upload.

    Hi prismalight,
Wayne Contello has written a User Tip on how to post a screen shot.
    https://discussions.apple.com/docs/DOC-6591
If 'Insert Image' is greyed out, Close the Insert Box (red cross on the top right) click on the camera icon again. Camera icon sometimes needs a wake-up call, but works the second time.
Remove any personal details before taking the screen shot.
    Regards,
    Ian.

  • Copying DVD from Previous FCE Project

I am trying to easily copy a project I created in FCE. Originally I burned it to DVD using iDVD but saved nothing of the project, thinking I would never need it again. Now people want copies. I went to the iDVD discussion forum and the following document was suggested, "How to copy previously-burned DVD-R video discs,"
    http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2059?viewlocale=en_US
The article, even though it was very detailed and had illustrations, wasn't the way it went for me. Some of the instructions were confusing and didn't match what I saw on my monitor, but I just kept going, trying this and that, hoping it would work out, which it did. Now I want to burn more. I know disk utility will do the trick but need instructions that are more accurate.
    Any suggestions would be appreciated.
    Lee

I did try copying the disk again. This time it didn't work. It looked like it was burning OK and the disk even has the same deep blue burn band as the original, but when I tried playing it in two DVD players it said "Disk Error." I'm wondering if I should get Toast or some other reliable copying program. The problem I am having using Disk Utility is that the instructions in the threads suggested don't match what I am seeing. I hate to keep wasting printable disks.

  • How to create Blu-Ray from previous files?

Back in November of 2010 thefifthlion posted a similar question, but the thread was archived so I could not post a follow up in that same thread.
My question is similar:  how to create a Blu-Ray from previous Compressor files.  His answer was to create a disc image by selecting "Hard Drive" from the Output Device pop up menu.  Then use Toast or Disc Utility to burn the copies.  Fine, but here's my revised question to that:
Compressor just spent nearly 20 hours compressing a 2+ hour video with "Create Blu-Ray" selected for the When Job Completes.  Before it completed the Blu-Ray burner apparently fell asleep or went offline somehow because the computer wouldn't recognize the drive by the time Compressor was done.  So I had no choice but to selct "Cancel Burn" and stop the process, restart the computer, and get the Blu-Ray burner back online.
You probably know where I'm going with this.  I now have two files on my desktop - the video and the audio file created of the project from Compressor.  BUT WHAT CAN I DO WITH THOSE FILES NOW?  Needless to say I don't want to go through the entire 20 hour process again - only to have the same thing happen with the burner drive.  As per the below paragraph (copied from thefifthlion's original post in November) is this the best way to burn Blu-Rays in Compressor?  Always create a disc image rather than burn right away... and then use a third party burner like Toast 10 or Disc Utility to burn the disc?  I can't believe Compressor doesn't have an option to open the project again and burn a Blu-Ray straight away.
    > Output Device pop-up menu: Use this pop-up menu to choose the device to format to. The pop-up menu displays a list of your system’s suitable output devices, including optical drives and the computer’s hard disk. Each device also includes the words Blu-ray or AVCHD to indicate which type of disc it creates. Choose Hard Drive to create a disk image (.img) file that you can burn to Blu-ray Disc media at a later time using the Disk Utility application (available in the Utilities folder). Other settings may change depending on the device you choose.
Thanks very much for any feedback.
    Eric

    Follow up question:
I went through the process again (approx 20 hours!! ) and this time made the video a disc image.  I don't have Toast (though I think it might be time to get it) but I keep reading that Disc Utility can burn a Blu Ray using that disc image.  So, I went through another multi hour process to burn that 20+ gig file onto a Blu Ray, but it appears that it didn't burn it as a playable disc, rather, more like it put the file on the disc as data files.  All the info is there, 20 some gigs, I can see all the files, but the disc doesn't play.
Now I apologize if it's a silly question if it's known that you can't make a playable blu ray with Disc Utility, but I don't know either way, that's just what I've read and this is the first time I've tried it.
Soooooooo, if I always make a disc image, should I just get Toast and use that to make the blu ray?
By the way, a brief update:  the whole reason this thread came up was because my Pioneer blur ray burner goes offline (sleep) after an hour or so and doesn't come back or wake up.  So with a long processing time in Compressor the drive goes offline and then can't burn the disc, so I lose that whole session.  Turns out that Pioneer (by their own admission) is not made to be fully compatible with Macs!!  In particular Mac Pros.  I took that drive out and replaced it with an LG.  Haven't tested it yet but I'm looking forward to it.

  • How to make a self-playing DVD from FCP project of 75 minute film.

A Quicktime film has been made in Final Cut. It is about an hour and 15 minutes long. It needs to end up on a self-playing DVD.
Maybe this is a question for the FCP boards (or for DVD SP, which I don't know well): What's the approach to get this project to DVD?---having it look best on the DVD. Are there compression best practices?

Or you may be able to make a Kiosk mode DVD from a QT file / folder using iDVD. (btw ...I've done this successfully thru iDVD6 but I have not yet tried it under iDVD08):
    http://discussions.apple.com/thread.jspa?messageID=4764361&#4764361
Please note that this approach is the only way I know of to make a DVD (w/in iDVD) that plays by itself and with no menu whatsoever. Hence the DVD will always play in a continuous loop until you press stop or eject on the remote. Or if you prefer you can also use Roxio Toast which has a similar feature.

  • Fastest way to create DVD from HD

I would like to compile and render a single layer DVD from multiple .M2V files.
The DVD threshold of 4.7GB is required as most projectors here in Asia can not handle multi-layer DVD.
Is there another way to go about compiling and rendering that will decrease processing time? Another format? A modular methodology?
Our processing time using to create M2V files using Compressor is taking more than 8 hours. All advice welcomed!

You need faster hardware. A Powerbook G4 is going to take a long time no matter what you do. Time to upgrade - time is money.
