DVD gets compressed

When I burn my 16:9 DVDs to disc, then play them back on a DVD player and 16:9 tv, the picture is compressed with black bands top and bottom. Can anybody help please?

Thank you for your help with this matter.
Sometimes the most obvious solutions are overlooked.
Thanks,
Iain

    Firefox, I would make sure you update your Desktop to Firefox 14.0.1, as the version you are running is quite old and out of date.
    Then, do you have your Sync Recovery key, username and password? If you do, you can re-add Firefox Sync to your computer.

  • Report outout is getting compressed.

    Hi,
    I am using Report 10g to modify oracle standard report. I have to increase width of report to accommodate two extra columns. In object navigator I am increasing page layout width from 11 to 13 and not changing anything in report layout. When I tried to run this report using concurrent program output is actually getting compressed.What can be the reason for this strange behavior.
    Thanks,
    Chukky.

    hi,
    Adding above, when I choose concurrent program output as 'Text' then only this problem raises. When I changed concurrent program output to 'PDF' it works fine.

  • Last Column of ALV gets compressed

    HI ,
    The last column of ALV gets compressed when I manually set my widths to my fields.
    I have a comments section in my Table when the data is huge, So I have to set the width of the field so that the table does not look odd.
    But when I add the same, the last field of my ALV gets compressed. I added one last field to the same ALV table, and last added field is compressed.
    My code for setting the ALV data is as follows.
        lo_table_settings->set_fixed_table_layout( abap_true ).
    LOOP AT t_column INTO w_column.
           IF w_column-id = 'COMMENTS'.
             lr_textview ?= w_column-r_column->get_cell_editor( ).
             lr_textview->set_wrapping( abap_true ).
             lr_textview->set_design(
                 value = cl_wd_text_view=>e_design-label_small
             w_column-r_column->set_width( value = '600' ).
           ELSE.
             w_column-r_column->set_width( value = '100' ).
             lr_header =  w_column-r_column->get_header( ).
             lr_header->set_header_text_wrapping( value = abap_true  ).
           ENDIF.
         ENDLOOP.
    Please help me in this regard.

    Hi Rama,
    The last column of ALV is compressed, the Width of last column is so small that the table looks very awkward.
    The complete data is shown, no data is truncated.
    I already set the condition you mentioned. I placed the same in code in my post.

  • Photoshop Image Gets Compressed In MS Word

    I can't figure this out... and I've tried everything I know / have been able to find on Google.
    I'm using Microsoft Word 2010. When I save the document I use Save as > PDF
    I created a few images for headers inside of Photoshop CS6. I've tried quite a few resolutions (600, 300, 220, 150, 96, 72) and I've also done all of the tips out there for preventing compression (going into settings > advanced > turning compression off, clicking image going to format preventing compression, and also the save as > tools > 220 dpi/use document compression).
    I've also tried a ton of different file types: Jpg, png, gif, tiff, and pdf.
    None of this works and my images keep getting compressed when it comes out in PDF.
    How do I get this to stop compressing my images?
    P.S. The image looks TOTALLY fine inside of the document. But as soon as I export it looks compressed and choppy.

    Don't use Save As > PDF to export the document. Instead print the document to a PDF and select the High Quality Print setting. This isn't going to prevent the image from looking like a raster image when you zoom in on the PDF, but it will keep the compression to a minimum.
    On a side note, for this type of work you should really be using Illustrator if you want to retain good quality of your image when exported as a PDF as well as not using Word for this type of work. Word doesn't do the best when it comes to retaining image quality when it's output as a PDF, even when you do use the Print to PDF option as I suggested. The only way you're going to be able to retain high quality output is to setup the graphic in Illustrator, save it as an Illustrator EPS, and then import that into Word. The image below shows the difference in quality between an eps and a png in Word.
    EPS above and PNG below as it appears in Word at 100% zoom.
    Same setup but at 500% zoom. While the PNG looks to be better quality than the EPS, Word doesn't render EPS files 100% accurately for screen which is why the PNG looks better.
    Print to PDF from the Word file. Note that the EPS file looks great at a zoom level of 500% because it's using vectors while the PNG below it is pixelated because the printed version of the logo is accurate to the raster version.

  • HTTP compression: Excluding traffic from getting compressed

    Hi-
    We have a web application where we are trying to exclude certain traffic from getting compressed.
    The following should get compressed:
    http://www.domain.com/dir1/a.htm
    but the following should not get compressed:
    http://www.domain.com/dir2/b.htm
    I have configured my Sun One web server obj.conf file as follows:
    <Object name="default">
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/dir1" dir="/opt/myapp/dir1"
    NameTrans fn="pfx2dir" from="/dir2" dir="/opt/myapp/dir2"
    <Client match="none"\
    browser="*MSIE [1-3]*"\
    browser="*MSIE [1-5]*Mac*"\
    browser="Mozilla/[1-4]*Nav*">
    Output fn="insert-filter" filter="http-compression" type="text/*"
    </Client>
    </Object>
    <Object ppath="*dir2*">
    Output fn="insert-filter" filter="http-compression" type="text/*" vary="off"
    </Object>
    But the objects (GIFs, HTML, TEXT, etc) where the dir2 condition is met are still getting compressed. Would someone be able to assist me?
    Thanks,
    Nimbus

    It looks like you expected the vary parameter to control whether the http-compression SAF compresses content. It doesn't. The vary parameter controls whether the http-compression SAF adds a Vary: header field to the response.
    If you don't want all files to be compressed, you should remove the Output fn="insert-filter" filter="http-compression" directive from the default object. You can instead create a new object only for those files you wish to be compressed:<Object ppath="/opt/myapp/dir1/*">
    <Client match="none"
            browser="*MSIE [1-3]*"
            browser="*MSIE [1-5]*Mac*"
            browser="Mozilla/[1-4]*Nav*">
    Output type="text/*"
           fn="insert-filter"
           filter="http-compression"
    </Client>
    </Object>

  • Burning DVDs get a "sensor key error"

    Hi,
    When I tried to burn a DVD this morning, I got a message like this:
    " Driver reported an error
    Sense key: medium error
    Sense code: 0x73, 0x03"
    I tried twice and got the same message. The first time, half the DVD was written when the message appeared and the second time, the burning had not yet began. I'm using Toast Titanium 7.0.
    I used Utility Disk to check the HD and all is in good shape, no repair needed.
    It seems to be a software problem, not an hardware one but I'm not sure.
    Anyone can help on this ??
    TIA
    iMac G5, 17 inches, 1Gig of Ram   Mac OS X (10.4.8)
    iMac G5, 17 inches, 1Gig of Ram

    it could be the DVD. I use Toast all day long and I occasionally get that and I just use a different DVD. Best thing to do is try to find a blank from a different lot and try again. If you only have one type of DVD, keep trying till it works.
    There is no official standard for producing DVD's and CD's, so the success/failure depends on the lot more so than the maker.
    Other things to try:
    Burn at 2x or 1x if you have the time.
    Make sure "Buffer Underrun Prevention" is selected.
    You might also want to try a DVD cleaner disk and/or some compressed air in case it's dusty in there.
    Your mileage may vary, of course

  • DVD Archive = COMPRESSED FILES

    To be certain, I follwed the explicit iTunes 6, multi-page procedure to find that I CANNOT archive the material I purchased from Itunes "Music Store" on a DVD.
    What one gets is a compressed m4p file and NOT an AIFF file, thus the archive isn't a valid, full file of the purchased material. It is a compressed facimile.
    This is the result of three DAYS of effort, first using logic, then the menu instructions and gfinally a search that led here.
    ITunes was supposred to be fun. It is anything but that.
    A CD can be obtained in AIFF format for auto playing but not a DVD.
    G4   Mac OS X (10.3.9)   MCE DVD firewire external

    You do realise iTunes Music Store only sells compressed music, right? It was only an M4P file that you bought in the first place.

    Great news JMD103.
    There should be a big red pop-up, when one adds a Stop Marker to the end of the Timeline, saying "Do NOT do that!" That Stop Marker will almost always yield a failed Project output to DVD.

  • DV 24p to DVD - Best compression and workflow

    Hello,
    I shot my thesis film on the Panasonic DVX-100a a few years back. Ran out of money and never finished. Luckily, I have the resources to now wrap it up and have some questions about the final export to DVD workflow.
    We re-digitized the film from the original tapes and rebuilt it in FCP. Cut it, had it mixed, and now ready to output it.
    What I've done thus far:
    1. Exported Quicktime movie from timeline (using project settings - DV)
    2. Opened that up with compressor, compressed to 90 min best quality
    3. Screened on plasma (looked like ***) and LCD computer monitor (looked ok)
    What I'd like to know:
    1. Is there a preferred workflow/setting to go out of FCP and onto DVD that will yield better results than what the steps I described above?
    What I was considering doing:
    1. Exporting an uncompressed or animation version from the timeline.
    2. Opening that in Compressor, bumping up the bit rate to 6, using CBR.
    3. Making beta dub to screen for interested parties.
    Original Footage:
    1. We shot Panasonic DVX-100a 24p. Super happy with the look of the film until I saw it on the plasma. I love that rough look but not when it looks like an accident.
    So, any thoughts or recommendations would be greatly appreciated. Thanks for taking the time to read this and potentially help my little movie.
    Best,
    Wolf

    Not really; DVDs just aren't good enough for huge, progressive plasma TVs. You can certainly do a lot by keeping the bitrate high enough (but not high enough to cause problems), using a tripod, good lighting, good camera, and best settings. But it still is an interlaced, standard definition source. And of course, don't transcode to a different format when you don't have to; go from your source format to mpeg2.

  • My saves photos on DVD get this Error Code 0x80020025  How do i retrieve my

    I have backed up all my photos on the same mac mac book pro . Not only problem burning but now 3 years later when i want to load my back ups from DVD i get this error Error Code 0x80020025
    i have gone on other forums and blogs and this seems to be an on going thing . Its about time this was put right and a simple down load or fix was made, as the forums are growing so pick. Scanning through them make me ill.
    How to stop this Error Code 0x80020025 and access my DVDs

    You need to test your DVD disc in another Mac, as it would seem the code is related to the drive and not the media?

  • Color Correction + DVD/MPEG Compression Produced Noise

    I recently color corrected a 3-hour rock concert using FCP and a broadcast monitor. When played from the timeline the concert looks great however after outputting, MPEG compression and authoring a DVD there's video noise over the image. Almost snow like but different. I'd post a screengrab but I can't seem to take one in DVD Player. Any advice?

    That's exactly right Jonathan, you need to add the 2:3 pulldown, and I can tell you all why. (I read the post from Max Average, but I'm not commenting that separately)
    The DVD specification simply does not support video marked as 23.98 fps (which is how Apple wants to call it) or even 23.976 fps (which is what MPEG-2 calls it). This means that for NTSC DVDs you can only use MPEG-2 video files which are marked as 29.97 fps. This is true whether your encoder (like Compressor) is letting you be aware of it or not. There is no "native 23.98 frame rate" on a DVD and the right way of making the decoder believe it is 29.97 instead, is to use 2:3 pulldown. Any other method would just be wasting bandwidth/bitrate or picture quality, depending on which way you want to look at it.
    The 2:3 pulldown process, as specified by MPEG-2, is a way for the encoder of describing to the decoder which of its already decoded fields it should be repeating (displaying once more) and when. These field repetitions are designed to increase the interlaced displayed frame rate from 23.976 to 29.97. This "new" frame rate must be explicitely written into the .m2v stream, to be accepted by a DVD authoring tool, e.g., DVD SP.
    I am sure many of you may wonder why it is called "pulldown" when in fact the frame rate seems to be going "up" from 24 to 30, as I did myself back in the nineties;-)
    The way to wrap ones head around that, is to think about what whould happen if you just mapped 24 FPS film frames onto the NTSC TV standard which has to display frames at nearly 30 fps on a TV. Of course the movie would run 25% FASTER on a TV than it did at the cinema/picture theatre. In that perspective, the solution had to be to SLOW DOWN (pulldown) the presentation speed on a TV. The engineers of that time (this was long before color TV was even invented)
    were faced with a need for film (Hollywood movies) to be translated for TV broadcasts). Of course they could not change the 30 fps used for TV broadcasts (29.97 fps came much later when colors were added;-), so they had to come up with a scheme which made each film frame seem to last 25% longer on the TV screen, than it would have otherwise. "Pulling down" the display frequency from, the physical 30 fps to match the experienced 24 fps was accomplished by letting every other frame be displayed for 50% longer on the TV. On average that is of course 25% longer (slower) which was the goal.
    I may be monitoring this thread for further comments.
    BTW, BitVice 1.7 runs surprisingly well under Rosetta.

    Hi and welcome to the discussions!
    Google is your friend...
    I found this on a Roxio forum, but it offers the best advice I have seen anywhere about this error.
    Basically, it is most likely the media or the speed you are trying to burn at. It could be a few other things, but those are the most likely culprits.

    -I've tried clearing the cache/cookies

    -This started about a week ago, I haven't installed any new software in about a month (apart from reinstalling firefox)
    -I'm not running any software that could possibly interfere, apart from little snitch. And that couldn't even cause an encoding error
