DVD image question

Hey this might be a question that should be posted within some other category but I wasnt sure if a pertucar ilife application has the capability.
I have a mini dvd that has 2 sides and i would like to combine it into one single layer dvd. The total for the mini dvd is under 4 gigs.
I wanted to know what program would allow me to do something like this. I tried toast 9 thinking they have the multiple dvd image functionality but that seems to be if 1 was windows and another was a mac image then it can combine it into 1 that both can read or something like that.
That isnt what i am looking for. I have a 2 sided mini dvd that i would like to combine into 1 single regular dvd. Could I use iDVD or would I have to use something else.
Also toast seems to make dvd images with a .toast extension that any other program doesnt recognize (other then taost).
Help would be greatly appreciated.

Here's how to do it with Toast. What you'll get is one DVD with two titles, but you can tell Toast to continuously play the titles so there won't be any break between them.
1. Insert the mini DVD disc and choose DVD with the top button of the Toast Media Browser.
2. When something appears in the browser window drag it to the Toast's Video window with DVD video selected as the format. You'll see a progress bar as Toast extracts the MPEG video files from the mini DVD.
3. When that is done turn the mini disc over and repeat steps 1 and 2.
4. Now that you have the content of the mini disc in the Toast window, edit the descriptions, scroll the thumbnail to a desired image and choose the menu style you want.
5. Choose Save as Disc Image if you want to preview how it looks in DVD Player before burning to DVD. You mount the disc image by control-clicking on it and choosing Mount It.
I have changed the .toast extension on video DVD disc images to .iso and they work fine with my LaCie Silverscreen that can automatically mount and play .iso images.

  • DVD @ access questions?

I am putting together a short promo DVD for a client and I have a catalogue of their products as an image on the DVD that you can access via the main menu. What I want to do is have it so the products are 'clickable' and will take the user [when online] to the clients web site. I did a search but I cant find out how to link this page to the DVD access settings in the inspector. Any help? Also, can you link a button to open up and email application so the user can email direct from watching this DVD? Questions questions questions....thanks in advance. Oh, Im on DVDSP2.

DVD@ccess is actually quite limited and not entirely compatible with the range of DVD playback software/hardware available on a PC... you might be better off using eDVD from Sonic (which is PC software, making use of the Interactual Player, rather than @ccess).
However, @ccess links are embedded in to a menu - so any button you have got needs to go to a menu that simply has the @ccess URL embedded and the menu needs to time out to return to where the button was. For launching a web site simply use the standard URL for the site, include the http:// info in that.
Now, sending an email is not going to work all of the time, but you can try it out and see if it has the functionality you want. The URL to place into the menu for DVD@ccess is the HTML 'mailto' code. simply write:
mailto:[email protected], replacing name, domain and .com with the revelant info. If you have got the @ccess links enabled on your Mac, try simulating the menu with this in it... you should see Mail launch (it takes a moment for it to appear, but should work). Whether or not this will work on a PC with Outlook I don't know...

  • Very large DVD image/folder ( dvd9 in size)

I'm having problems making an bluray folder or image that is readable by anything!, (using encore).
So In encore i changed the project format to DVD and set the disc size to custom = 20G !
My mediaplayer (popcorn hour) did play it OK, incl first-play, menus and subtitles, but i wonder if anyone else have experience with generating DVD image or folder which are large than dvd9 ?
(obviously you can not burn it, but who does that nowadays anyway)
    /per

..to answer my own question: the 20G 'DVD' played very well...
now I wonder if the player wil accept H264 encoding instead of MPEG2
..if so, i guess the only difference to bluray would be the lack of popup menus ?

  • Removing a DVD Image from a drive?

    Hello everyone!
Recently I wanted to wipe my MacBook Pro, and do a clean install of Snow Leopard. However doing so proved difficult, because my DVD drive recently gave out and stopped ejecting disks (Had to open her up and take out the drive completely). Anyways, in order to do a clean install, I had to create an image of my Install DVD On an external hard drive, and wipe the computer in target disk mode from another mac.
The clean install worked perfectly, although now my external Hard Drive is stuck with the DVD Image of the snow leopard install disk on it. I would just wipe the drive, however it has about 450 GB worth of data on it (When I put the Install DVD image on the drive I chose not to erase the current data) and I would just get another hard drive to back up my data and reformat the drive, but currently I do not have another drive to transfer the files to.
I would just delete the Snow Leopard install disk files, but everytime I plug in the hard drive, it pops up like an install disk and its quite annoying. In the mean time the hard drive still works perfectly, its just annoying always having to close the "Install OS X Snow Leopard" window each time I plug in the drive. (Note: If I remove the install disk files from the drive, the Hard drive still pops up like an install disk when its plugged in)
So my question is this, (I know I'm finally getting to my point haha) is there any way I can remove the "Install Disk" image from my hard drive without having to wipe the entire drive? Or am I just going to have to get another hard drive to back up all my data and reformat it? Thanks for your help guys, looking forward to your replies.

    Thanks for your reply Neville.
I am currently able to read and write the files on the drive, and I am able to delete the Mac OS X install files. However even after I do so, whenever I plug in my external hard drive, it always pops up like a mounted .DMG file, instead of popping up like a hard drive.
Also by default I use the "List" view in the finder. But whenever I access the drive, it shows the files in "Icon" view since I added the Mac OS X install disk image to the drive =(.

  • Lion dvd image

Ok now you tell me how can i reinstall my Mac Mini 2011 with a line with this performance:
    Down: 640kbit
    Up: 256
It take about 8h to download.
I'd like to download a dvd image of Lion 10.7 from here but a popup appear and say me that i can't install it.
So, where can i find a correct dvd image?
Thank you and sorry for my english.

There is no DVD image. You download the installer from the App Store. DO NOT install. Go to the Applications folder and make a copy of the installer (select, CTRL- or RIGHT-click, select Duplicate.) Move the copy to a safe location. You may now install Lion or quit the installer. If you install Lion then the installer will be deleted automatically at the end of the installation.
You can make a bootable USB flash drive or DVD from the installer by following the instructions here: Burning A Lion Boot Disc.

  • Mounting dvd image

    hi,
I have this dvd image I'd like to loop mount. Unfortunately all I get is this error:
    [root] $ mount -t iso9660 -o loop DISC1.ISO files/
mount: wrong fs type, bad option, bad superblock on /dev/loop0,
or too many mounted file systems
(could this be the IDE device where you in fact use
ide-scsi so that sr0 or sda or so is needed?)
    [root] $
To me it seems the command is correct. how to fix this?

Thanks, but I forgot to tell that udf doesn't work either.. same error with both:

  • Remote Install of OEL from DVD image?

I have a linux server that has CentOS 5.3 64 bit installed. I do not have physical access to it. I can't mount a DVD.
But I do have access to ssh, yum and can install anything on it.
Can I download the Oracle Enterprise Linux 64 bit DVD image from OUL Network and install from the image without creating a DVD and putting it in the drive?
    Is there a simple solution?
    Thanks
    SG

Please visit the http://linux.oracle.com site and follow the link to download a new "up2date" RPM package in the "Switching From Red Hat Network" link.
Install it on your server and:
    # /usr/sbin/up2dateand take a nap.
If you do not have a ULN subscription, you can do a network-based install using the:
boot: linux askmethodtechnique; Google for "linux askmethod" for details. There are also detailed steps in the Red Hat installation guide over at http://www.redhat.com if you prefer.

  • Pav. dv3888nr horizontal line on DVD image and other glitchy things

Whenever I play DVDs I have problems. Lately, its been a horizontal line or split across the DVD image.  I also get all kinds of burps and hiccups, and picture separation from sound that is usually solved by tapping in the mousepad.  (Weird!) This gizmo is still under warranty but I'm out of the country for a few more weeks.

Yes, Apple is working on it. The information I gathered from AppleCare is that there is a "capture" procedure in US for those who don't like the lines on their machine.
At this time, as there is not such a procedure in Europ, my decision is to return mine. The only way to return your PB is to call the AppleStore from which you bought it and ask them for a refund (if you are within the 7 or 14 days depending on the Country you bought it from) or an exchange .
Applecare will only accept a repair, by the local Apple Certified center, but AppleCare is country specific which means that an applecare bought in Europ will not work elsewhere. Personnally, I declined the repair, because we all know that the defect has not been identified yet by Apple US, so that you can imagine what the local repair center could do !!!
PS : I just identified the EXACT same line issue at my working place on a Sony LCD screen connected to a G5 DP 2Ghz. Strangely enough, the LCD has also colour set up problems. Moreover the same configuration at home (same SONY screen, G5 DP 1,8 Ghz) has no lining problem. This is the definitive proof to me that every lined screen are defective, even if hundred of them have been recently released.

  • Suddenly ending creating DVD image without warning

I have had a look through the search facility in this form, but to no avail on this subject; so -
does anyone have any suggestions, why when I try to create a DVD image in iDVD, it gets a fraction of the way through, and then comes to an abrupt end and disappears from the screen? It doesn't leave any indication of what was the problem, nor any part completed image file.

How much available hard drive space is remaining on the startup volume? If you have over 20 GB's and this still happens then drag and drop the plist for iDVD to the trash. empty the trash and restart the computer.
do a search in the finder for the following item:
    com.apple.iDvd.plist
(use copy and paste to the finder and then dispose of this item/s)
also please take the time now to repair permissions on your HD.

  • How to split Windows Vista DVD image?

I would like to ask how to split windows vista DVD image into specific size using Windows PE Tools Command Prompt.
    Thanks in advanced.

    Hi,
You can try the following method:
    1.   Install UltraISO and Windows AIK.
    Windows AIK:
    http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyID=94bb6e34-d890-4932-81a5-5b50c657de08&DisplayLang=en
    2.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD and extract install.wim under the Sources folder to the local hard drive, for example: D:\Vista\sources\install.wim.
    3.   Run Windows PE Tools Command Prompt in elevated mode and type the following command:
    imagex /split D:\vista\sources\install.wim D:\temp\install.swm 380
Note: D:\vista\sources\install.wim is the name and location of the file which will be split from. D:\temp\install.swm is the name and location of the target file. 380 is each target file size.
Note: Before doing this, make sure partition D has at least 5GB of free disk space.
    After that, you will get 6 target files named install.swm, install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm in D:\temp.
    4.   Use UltraISO to open the Windows Vista DVD. Delete install.wim under the Sources folder and drag install.swm to this folder. Save the whole disk to the local hard drive and we will get CD1.
    5.   Open UltraISO and create a new folder named Sources. Drag install2.swm, install3.swm, install4.swm, install5.swm and install6.swm to the Sources folder. Save install2.swm to the local hard drive and we will get CD2. Use the same method to create CD3, CD4, CD5 and CD6.
    6.   Burn the iso files to CDs.
The steps above can be a little complex. I recommend obtaining a DVD drive to install Windows Vista.
    Hope it helps.
