Dvd is done, how do I make copies?

I created a movie in iMovie, shared it to iDvd, applied a Theme, and burned a dvd. Now I want to make multiple copies of the dvd. To do so thru iDvd would take a very long time, as the movie is 1 hour and 45 minutes. I have Popcorn, Handbrake, and MPEG Streamclip software, and am looking for suggestions on the best way to make copies of my dvd. I don't want to diminish the quality. If you have ideas, please be specific on what settings to use in the other programs. I used Handbrake to put the movie back onto my hard drive, but I created a .m4v file, which does not seem to have been the way to go. When I click on that, I do not get the opening menu, the movie just starts, and I don't think Popcorn recognized it.
Thanks.
Joey

+To do so thru iDvd would take a very long time, as the movie is 1 hour and 45 minutes.+ Only the first burn takes a long time because the movie first must be encoded. Once the first burn is completed, the next ones take only a few minutes. For a movie of this size, each disk will probably burn in less than 15 minutes.
I recommend that you create a disk image file from your iDVD project and use that for any future burns. You open your iDVD project and select 'File->Save as Disk Image' to create a disk image file. This process will take as long as the original burn because of the encoding time, but the end result will be a disk image file not a burned DVD disk. You can then use this file to burn DVDs of the project whenever you wish. It is a self-contained file, so you can safely delete the original iMovie and iDVD projects if you wish, once you know that the image file works ok.
You burn further DVDs using Disk Utility or Toast. See these for help:
Creating a disk image from your project-> http://docs.info.apple.com/article.html?path=iDVD/7.0/en/6733.html
Burning a disk image->http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2087?viewlocale=en_US
You could also make a disk image file from the DVD you already made, if you no longer have the iDVD project:
http://support.apple.com/kb/HT2059?viewlocale=en_US
Then burn from the disk image as above.
Disk image files are smaller than the original iMovie and iDVD files, and are good to save as backups for your projects.

    Unfortunately, the recording & movie industry does not respect the rights of the people who make them money, and thus you can only use the paid-for content in ways they see fit. Even if I lived in a bunker where no one else could possibly see the movie I paid for, therefor I'm not 'sharing it illegally', I would still not be allowed in a blue moon to copy that movie to DVD for TV viewing. Someone will tell you to get an AppleTV. How about Apple give us one for free? Until this changes, people wanting to use their content in multiple locations will continue to download music & movies via torrents, legally or illegally.

    No way to recover it unless the other person didn't delete it on their end but the Perfect time to activate iCloud Drive and you won't ever need to worry. If you set it up correctly.

  • How to make copies of cds?

    Hi,
    How do I make copies of cds in tiger?
    Do I need some 3rd party software?
    Thanks.

    Hi Baltwo,
    AFAIK there is one possibility to burn bootable CDs in Tiger, shareware called:
    Clone X2, try here http://www.tri-edre.com/english/cloner.html
    There was also a freeware solution, BootCD but effectively I don't think it's compatible with Tiger yet, just keep checking because they will probably release an update.

  • How to make copies of existing DVD's

    I have a iMac 21.5 with OS 10.6.8. Many people send me DVD's that have been created on their PC's. These files ARE NOT COPYRIGHT and are mainly old record files of events. Some are copies of home movies that have been created from VHS to 2 hour DVD's. I don't want to download to my harddrive, and then copy if possible.
    Some are still vintage photo files, again NOT COPYRIGHTED, but large size.
    I can read and see all, and now want to share the same with my comments added. HOW DO I MAKE A COPY OF THESE DVD'S directly to a new DVD so I can send on to other friends?
    Do I need to buy a DVD BURNER so I can copy the data to new DVD's and DVD-R's?
    Same question for large photo files that I have received in a memory stick format. Thank you.

    Are these videos copyrighted?
    Just kidding, no one here would ever assume otherwise.
    1. Insert the DVD/CD;
    2. Open Disk Utility, and select the DVD/CD from the left side list (select the DVD/CD icon on top);
    3. from the DU File menu select New | Disk Image from Disk 1;
    4. Choose to format the disk image as DVD/CD Master, name the disk image and click Save;
    5. When the .cdr file is finished select it with mouse and press COMMAND-I to open the Get Info and check the box to lock the file;
    6. Choose the .cdr file from the left side list, click Burn, and insert a new, blank DVD or CD.

  • How do I make a Keynote slideshow controllable in an iDvd DVD?

    How do I make a Keynote slideshow controllable on an DVD made with iDVD? And how do I make the slideshow completely auto with no return to a theme. I want people to be able to start the slideshow when they insert the DVD (no theme) and advance through the Keynote slide show (with all transitions, etc.,) by pressing a button on the remore controller to show eack slide - and advance at their option. Then they should have the option to repeat the slide show. Currently, the slideshow plays all the way through - and then pops into a theme intro - which I don't want. I thought it was set to run without a theme with my setting in the "Map" menu.I have exported a Quicktime version of the slideshow from Keynote which is completely controllable (slide by slide) on my MacBook Pro, but just runs straight through from an iDVD DVD. What am I doing wrong? Thanks for your help which I badly need...

    (From fellow poster Mishmumken: )
    How to create a DVD in iDVD without menu (there are several options):
    1. Easy: Drop your iMovie in the autoplay box in iDVD's Map View, then set your autoplay item (your movie) to loop continously. Disadvantage: The DVD plays until you hit stop on the remote
    2. Still easy: If you don't want your (autoplay) movie to loop, you can create a black theme by replacing the background of a static theme with a black background and no content in the dropzone (text needs to be black as well). Disadvantage: The menu is still there and will play after the movie. You don't see it, but your disc keeps spinning in the player.
    3. Still quite easy but takes more time: Export the iMovie to DV tape, and then re-import using One-Step DVD.
    Disadvantage: One-Step DVD creation has been known to be not 100% reliable.
    4. (My preferred method) Easy enough but needs 3rd party software: Roxio Toast lets you burn your iMovie to DVD without menu - just drag the iMovie project to the Toast Window and click burn. Disadvantage: you'll need to spend some extra $$ for the software. In Toast, you just drop the iMovie project on the Window and click Burn.
    5. The "hard way": Postproduction with myDVDedit (freeware)
    Tools necessary: myDVDedit ( http://www.mydvdedit.com )
    • create a disc image of your iDVD project, then double-click to mount it.
    • Extract the VIDEO_TS and AUDIO_TS folders to a location of your choice. select the VIDEO_TS folder and hit Cmd + I to open the Inspector window
    • Set permissions to "read & write" and include all enclosed items; Ignore the warning.
    • Open the VIDEO_TS folder with myDVDedit. You'll find all items enclosed in your DVD in the left hand panel.
    • Select the menu (usually named VTS Menu) and delete it
    • Choose from the menu File > Test with DVD Player to see if your DVD behaves as planned.If it works save and close myDVDedit.
    • Before burning the folders to Video DVD, set permissions back to "read only", then create a disc image burnable with Disc Utility from a VIDEO_TS folder using Laine D. Lee's DVD Imager:
    http://lonestar.utsa.edu/llee/applescript/dvdimager.html
    Our resident expert, Old Toad, also recommends this: there is a 3rd export/share option that give better results.  That's to use the Share ➙ Media Browser menu option.  Then in iDVD go to the Media Browser and drag the movie into iDVD where you want it.
    Hope this helps!

  • Without Encore ... how do I make DVD's with menu etc.?  AMEPresetProber

    I'm having all kinds of Encore problems and Adobe doesn't support it anymore.  This one is an error 'scc\AMEPresetProber' and I can't even open a new or existing project without Encore crashing.
    I don't want to sign up for Adobe Cloud as my other CS5 programs are all working fine and don't want to pay Adober for life with a cloud version.
    My question is...Without Adobe Encore, how do we make DVD's now?  Microsoft Movie Maker??

    1st - provide details so someone can help with your current Encore... if you are Mac, did you recently upgrade to 10.9 Mavericks?
    I do NOT use these, so have NO idea if they will do what you need

    My school wants to purchase three copies of one of my photo books. The school is tax exempt. How can we make a tax exempt purchase using a school credit card?

    I don't believe Apple is setup for tax exempt purchases.  It's strictly comsumer oriented.
    Are you making a profit on your book sale?  If so just up the price to cover the tax and you purchase it and deliver to the school. If not then reimburse the school for the tax and write it off as a deduction.

    Somehow I created a live copy of "Finder" on my desktop.  It is titled "iPhoto Library", and has live copies of all of my files/photos/music.  How can I make it go away without deleting all of my content?

    Either you moved or copied your iPhoto library folder to the Desktop.
    Quit iPhoto. Rename the folder on your Desktop to something else, such as "foo." Launch iPhoto. If you still see all your photos, you can delete "foo."
    If you don't see your photos, quit iPhoto, rename "foo" to "iPhoto Library," and put it in your Pictures folder. Try iPhoto again.

  • Edu DVD in computer iTunes but does not show up in iPad iTunes or iPad video.  How do I make the DVD contents available on the iPad?

    Educational DVD added successfully to computer iTunes but does not show up in iPad iTunes or iPad video.  How do I make the DVD contents available on the iPad?

    Thanks!  For whatever bizarre reason for which I have no answer - I sync'd my iPad to my MBP the old fashion way (not iCloud) and the movie showed up just fine.  It is Nikon camera 'how to' video. I like to watch them for a better indepth discovery of what the camera can do.  The only weird thing about the hard wire sync is that it was placed in a catagory "home movies" which was never there before...actually it showed up in two places "home movies" and TV shows.
    So, thanks anyway!  Pretty cat!
