Dvd is not ejecting

it happend with my macpro couple of times,, but this time it stuck and there is no icon of dvd showing in home page,,well actually i tried to burn some pics on a dvd using mac burn operation, it ejected automatically after the burn operation, than i insert it again to verify the files,, when i try to open the files by double clicking on it,, a message pops up saying that the format of the specified file is curropted and cannot be open.. than after I tried to eject the cd and it won't come out, i tried various options found on google for the specifed problem... but still can't be able to eject the cd...
Kindly please resolve my issue.....I have MacbookPro with Mac Os X 10.6.8 . intel i5.

Force eject a stuck cd/dvd
First try the normal methods to remove the disc. Drag its icon to the Trash can in the Dock or select 'Eject' from the File menu.
If you are running a virtual machine, e.g. VMFusion, ensure that the CD is disconnected from the virtual machine. This will sometimes allow the CD to now show up in Mac OS X.
Shut down the computer and start up whilst holding down the mouse button. This may take some time, but keep your finger on the mouse button right up until the disc comes out or the log-in screen has appeared.
If you have Toast Titanium installed on your computer, choose EJECT DISC from the menubar.
Sometimes you can successfully use the eject disc button in iTunes even if the disc is not visible to the Finder
Open Disc utility and choose the disc you wish to eject in the left-hand pane, then click on the Eject button.
Some Macintoshes have a paperclip hole that you can insert a straightened paperclip into, manually triggering the eject mechanism.
Open Terminal and type "drutil tray eject" to eject the disc/tray, and "drutil tray close" to close the tray.
If your computer has an eject button on the keyboard, restart the computer holding down the Option key. When the startup disk selection screen appears, let go of the option key and press the keyboard's eject button.

A DVD in the slot-loading drive will not eject. My iBook reads the disk as it appears on my desktop and I can play the DVD. But as soon as I hit the eject key (F12), it makes a weird sound, like it's trying to eject, but the DVD will not eject. Can some one tell me what I can do? When open firmware doesn't work, it sounds like a hardware problem with the ejector. I would take the machine into service and let them know you tried the open firmware method.

And note that disks which have been written on by sharpie or other type of pen, or a sticky applied to them can cause the drive to age prematurely. Macbook pro 13" won't install OS X 10.4 after harddisk erased and dvd will not eject!

After backing up the machine, I took what I thought was the correct installation disk and booted from the CD/DVD. I erased the hard disk using the Disk Utility. Then I tried to reboot to install the original operating system. After several hours I received the message: Cannot install Mac OS X on this machine. The computer was running 10.4.3 before I erased it. I don't understand why the restore to factory settings didn't work. Now I have another problem. The CD/DVD does not eject. Without an operating system on the hard drive, it automatically boots from the CD/DVD and will not eject the boot disk!
What do I do? How do I get the CD/DVD out? How do I find a good disk

Hello, hold the mouse button down while booting up to eject it.
The original Disc would be gray.
If you don't know the model, find the Serial# & use it on one of these sites, but don't post the Serial# here...

Our dvd will not eject

The cd dvd will not eject. Are there any tricks out there to help get this problem figured out?

use the F12 or eject key on the keyboard.
If the disc will not eject try dragging the disc icon to the trash.
If the disc will still not eject, hold down the trackpad or mouse button after restarting the computer should also eject a disc.
If the disc continues not to eject, reset the System Management Controller (SMC) and try steps 1-4 again.

DVD drive not ejecting discs

I have to eject a CD or DVD 10 or 20 times. It makes the eject noise then the disc doesn't come out and it gets remounted again. After 10 or 20 goes suddenly one time it comes all the way out.
Any clues - is this a hardware fault?

Go to your OS Help Menu. In the search field type dvd
Click on all the troubleshooting topics & Support Articles that pertain to your issue.
You can also do the same in Disk Utility. Open same up.
At the bottom left of the window, click on the purple button w/the "?" in the middle.
This will bring up the Help Menu.

DVD Will Not Eject, iDVD Restarts Itself Over and Over

I have a DVD that simply will not eject itself no matter what. Instead, it starts to eject, then iDVD starts up, and begins to play the DVD. I have unchecked "Start DVD" in iDVD's preferences and reviewed the forum articles about stuck DVDs. Reboot does not help Safe Boot does not help. Restart wth right mouse button held down does not help, perhaps because my mouse is Apple and there is no Right Mouse Button?
I'm not about to enter terminal commands because I have no idea of what I'm ding at teh system level. Any ideas?

HI,
Try restarting your iMac while holding down the eject key.
If that didn't help, open Disk Utility (Applications / Utilities).
Select the disk on the left side of the window then click the Blue eject button in the menu.

A dvd will not eject from my brand new IMac. I have done every suggestion in the help area. Any suggestions on how to get this DVD out of the computer?

My brand new IMac will not eject a DVD. I have tried everything that was suggested in "help". It didn't recognize the dvd, and whenever I try to eject it, it is not highlighted. I have tried to restart while holding the track pad, and nothing happened at all. The dvd is from the library...so it needs to be returned! Any other suggestions?

1. Pressing the Eject key while opening the iMac.
2. Pressing the Eject key while closing down the iMac.
3. Holding down the Option key while restarting the iMac.
4. Using Disk Utility to try to Mount, Repair and Eject the disk.
5. Holding down the Mouse while restarting the iMac.
6. Pressing the O and F keys while closing down the iMac.
7. Opened Applications > Utilities >Terminal and typed in 'drutil tray eject'.

This worked for me. I had the same problem: a DVD that was inserted by my teenager (who knows how to insert a DVD) would not read and also not eject the normal way. I found that I had to completely shut down (after I had logged out of my user id) and restart while holding down the eject key the whole time. Just holding down the roller ball on the mouse while I did a restart did not do it.

I just bought this macbook used and it worked fine when I checked it out before paying. Now I am trying some newer DVD's and it is not working. When I first put the DVD in it was fine and it was playing the beginning but as soon as the main movie came on it locked up. I do get snippits of sound here and there but thats it. The screen has lots of colors on it and I cannot eject the DVD or do anything else. What happened and how do I get this fixed so I can use the laptop?

HT1349 the msg DVD will not eject. I have tried Cmmnd E, hold F12 Any suggestions?

Unable to eject a DVD disk. Msg that is unsupported. Tried Cmmnd E, press and hold F12 and of course using the control panel. I here the disk spin up as if ready to play but Msg appears instead.
This is a new MacBook Pro about one mo old.

Burnt dvd will not eject

ok this is my 2nd last resort to try and get this to work.... i burnt a dvd this morning and i forgot to remove it before i went to work. now i can't get it to eject......
i have tried turning it off and on, restarting, holding down eject buttons and mouse buttons, etc, etc and still NOTHING

You don't say anything about what computer you have. Do you mean you can see it start to come out and then catch somewhere on the slot opening? What spot exactly? Is it a DVD with a label pasted on? If so, can you be ready to press down a little on the edge of the disc to help it out?

Dvd disc not ejecting.

When I try to eject the disc it starts to eject and seems to get stuck before the disc gets out and then gets sent back inside. I have tried ejecting the disc from the Finder window, by dragging the disc icon to the trash, direct from disc utilities and by a forced eject by holding down the mouse button on restart.
This is not the first time this has happened and has happened with different types disc's.
It seems to me that it's a mechanical problem, not software but any suggestions would be helpful.

Take it in to be checked out, that sounds like either a bad eject mechanism or the drive is slightly out of line with the case and making for a hard eject.
