DVD is stuck inside the DVD player

I inserted a DVD for a video camera user guide. The DVD does not appear on the desktop of Intel Imac. I cannot push the button of the keyboard to force the DVD out either. Wha can I do to retireve the DVD from the DVD player? Thank you for your advice.
Robert

The drive doesn't eject discs or discs eject slowly
If the drive ejects discs slowly or appears to be struggling, insert and eject a single disc several times.
If the drive does not eject discs using the F12 or eject key on the keyboard.
If the disc will not eject try dragging the disc icon to the trash.
If the disc will still not eject, holding down the trackpad or mouse button after restarting the computer should also eject a disc.
If the disc continues not to eject, reset the Power Manager (PMU) or System Management Controller (SMC) and try steps 1-4 again.

Rather than burn directly to disk follow this workflow to help assure the best quality video DVD:
Once you have the project as you want it save it as a disk image via the File ➙ Save as Disk Image  menu option. This will separate the encoding process from the burn process.
To check the encoding mount the disk image, launch DVD Player and play it.  If it plays OK with DVD Player the encoding is good.
Then burn to disk with Disk Utility or Toast at the slowest speed available (2x-4x) to assure the best burn quality.  Always use top quality media:  Verbatim, Maxell or Taiyo Yuden DVD-R are the most recommended in these forums.

My iPad 3 microsim card slot is stuck or jammed. Manually cut micro sim is stuck inside the slot. I can't open it. How to proceed?

If they can't extract the SIM without opening the iPad (which no service center is authorized to do), and you can't manage to get it out yourself, then you'll probably have to pay Apple's out-of-warranty replacement price and get the iPad replaced. Use of a cut-down SIM is not covered under warranty.

  • My install DVD is stuck in the drive, I've tried everything, the computer doesn't recognize it. Help??

My mac was being slow.. i tried a lot of stuff but finally decided to just clear the disk and reinstall snowleapord. I had done this before and solved the problem slowness issue. I stuck the DVD in the drive before restarting but when I tried to boot from it the disk just spun but didn't boot. the mac booted from my harddrive just like normal.. I've tried everything to get it out. Holding down the mouse, drutil eject tray in terminal, disk utility, booting and holding eject.. Nothing has worked. the disc spins on waking up or starting up but it is never recognized, its never on the desktop doesn't show up in disk utility.. I don't know what to do at this point and i think its starting to effect my mac. Spinning wheel on almost every application and obviously battery problems from the disc being spun every time i open it in class. Its finals week and i need my mac for notes/papers/tests etc.. so i cant take it to the nearest apple store for a couple weeks.. please help. thanks!

Try pressing the eject button in the top right corner of your keyboard (it the one next to volume increase).
I had this problem with a DVD + R and after trying everything I realized there is an eject button.

  • IDVD changes encoding quality in the middle of burning a DVD.  This causes the DVD to run out of room for longer projects.  This worked fine for the past two years, and in the past few weeks it started having this problem.

Here are details on the problem:  I'm running iDVD 7.1.2 on an iMac that uses OS 10.6.8.  After about two years of using iDVD to burn both single- and dual-layer disks, I find I can no longer burn dual-layer disks.  When I put in a dual-layer disk and try to burn a project, the project size keeps increasing.  For instance, I recently tried to burn a project that was just over 4GB and, when I stopped the project part-way through, the project size read as 6.89GB.  If I don't stop the project in time, the blue bar that indicates burning status reaches the end (so that all of it is blue) before the time listed has elapsed and the disk ejects but cannot be recognized by the computer or our dvd player.  If I then go to the project menu and switch the encoding from Professional Quality to Best Performance and back again, the program "remembers" the actual file size - but, if I try to burn the project again, I have the increasing same problem.  If I let the project go until the disk ejects, the project menu will then read some total in the red (i.e., above the size that a dl disk will burn, even though the actual file size is below the limit).  I believe (perhaps 90% sure) this began after I tried to encode a movie with subtitles; instead of burning properly, this movie created a data disk with at least one folder that said something about VIDEO_TS, if I recall correctly.

To be a true video DVD the disk must be in the UDF format (Universal Disk Format) and must have a AUDIO_TS folder (empty) and VIDEO_TS folder (where all the elements of the DVD are located).
The content on a DVD is MPG-2 encoded and it is quite possible for the encoded size of your content to exceed the estimated project size - especially if you use lots of transitions and content encoded with CODECS more recent than mpg-2 (which is quite old at this point).
The safest thing to do is to make your 'burn' to a disk image file - then you know everything went fine before you commit to burning a disk,  I know the instructions warn about creating a disk image file for dual-layer projects, but I've never had any problems and don't recall hearing anyone here who had problems.

  • IPhoto imported photos from DVD only work with the DVD in the drive.

I have several photo DVD's created on PC, jpeg format. I inserted the DVD, dragged the photos into events, they seemed to copy into iPhoto, I created albums. All seemed fine, but when I eject the DVD, my Mac can no longer find the file and I get a message that says "the volume for .......cannot be found, please insert the desk and wait for it to appear on the desktop. How do I actually copy the photos onto my computer?

    drjoan
Are you running a Managed Library or a Referenced Library?
If you're running a Managed library, then it's the default setting, and iPhoto copies files into the iPhoto Library when Importing
If you're running a Referenced Library, then you made a change at iPhoto -> Preferences -> Advanced and iPhoto is NOT copying the files into the iPhoto Library when importing.
The message you getting sounds like you're running a REFERENCED library.

  • I can't install a program from dvd, finder tells me the dvd is empty...

    Hi all,
i recently restorted my laptop  to original fabric configuration. now if have reinstall all my software thats bin removed. some dvd's work but some don't.
i insert the dvd and de disk drive starts working for a while but then it sort of shuts down en start again. my disk drive repeats this for 10 minutes or so and then spits out the dvd. i get the message that the dvd is empty but its realy not....? the dvd is not dirty and its the original dvd! i installed this dvd before and all went good but now something goes wrong and i dont know what??
    Please help me out!!
    tnx
    walter!

If the disc is clean and you're sure it has data on it then all that leaves is a dirty lens - run a DVD Lens Cleaner disc through it and then see if it read them OK.

  • I have the tip of aux cable stuck inside the jack port. How can I get it out?

The aux (audio) cable broke off inside the headphone port of my iPhone, it is stuck and I can't get it out. Can anyone help please? It is going to cost me a fortune to fix

Try tweezers or needle nose pliers. If these don't work, make an appointment at an Apple Store. I don't know if they will charge anything for thistle of service.

  • DVD with program in the DVD-Rom section

I'm wondering if there are any issues or if anyone knows any better ways to basically have a DVD that both plays video on computers and set tops and also can have an interactive Flash program in the DVD-Rom section of the disc. I know how I would set it up and would have a non-executable program). I believe this would be a hybrid disc, correct? Are there any programs that might do it better than DVDSP? I know Encore has a Flash component, but don't know if that program would be better.
    Anyone's experience would be helpful

You can put anything you want in the DVD-ROM. Flash, PDFs, whole applications, etc. The thing is that you cannot reliably access any of that from the DVD-Video. You need to tell people that there is additional content on the disc and that they need to get it themselves.

  • Mini cd stuck inside the drive

    Hi,
    New MBP, 6 months old.
Accidentally inserted a mini cd inside the drive. Cannt get it out now. Any help will do.
    Thanks

You might try some tape folded around a thin piece of card board and see if you can pull it out.  Position the MBP where gravity is your ally.
    Ciao.

  • DVD/CD STUCK IN THE DRIVE

LATELY, I AM HAVING A PROBLEM WITH MY DVD/CD DRIVE. I AM UNABLE TO EJECT IT NO MATTER WHAT I DO. BY PUSHING THE "EJECT" KEY OR DRAGGING THE ICON TO THE TRASH CAN AND SO ON, THE ICON DISAPPEARS, WHICH IS NORMAL; BUT AFTER HEARING SOME NOISE FOR 5 SECONDS OR SO, THE ICON RE-APPEARS ON THE DESKTOP. IS THE ONLY SOLUTION TO HAVE IT REPLACED?

AS MY ORIGINAL POST READS, I TRIED EVERY WAY THAT I KNOW OF, INCLUDING HOLDING THE BUTTON DOWN WHILE RE-STARTING OR BOOTING, ALL TO NO AVAIL.
I have no way of knowing what "...every way I know of..." includes. Since you mentioned some ways but not the hold mouse button down method, I suggested it. Sorry it did not work.
Sounds like it's time to take the machine in for servicing, as John suggested. Replacing the optical drive on a desktop machine is not difficult; doing so on an iMac is very difficult.

  • Problem: Importing from DVD to imovie. The DVD mpeg 4 file will not import

I recently purchased ImTOO DVD Ripper Ultimate. I've successfully managed to rip some files to my desktop. But I'm now having an issue importing 1 particular mpeg 4 file to imovie for editing. I open imovie and locate the mpeg 4 file. Imovie window pops up: Optimizing Video - Processing Event. Nothing happens. Any advice?

First advice: let it run. it may take a while.
Second advice: Check for extra tracks like tween tracks, closed captioning tracks, chapter tracks. iMovie will not import files that have these. It is best to remove these using QuickTime Pro before editing.

  • How do i get the sound to turn back onto my macbook? There's an unremovable headphone jack stuck inside the jack hole

A piece of a headphone jack broke off inside my macbook, and i am unable to remove it.  Since it is still in the laptop, my laptop is unable to play music from the internal speakers, is there anyway i can override this and get the speakers to work without removing the jack?

Get a USB headset or a USB to headphone jack adapter.
